I finished my Rachel. And made a Santa Claus costume for her...

    2. Oh my gosh!! This is so great, she looks perfect in it...!

    3. Lovely Rachel! I have one too- they have such an enigmatic expression.

    4. @Idoru Thank you! Somehow her body and the way she poses calls for that kind of attire. There's something seductive about that tiny smile.
@Rosslyn They do, and that's what I love about her. She really looks like a mature woman who knows her own mind and seems to be amused by whoever is looking at her.

    5. @ResinRapture - What a perfect photo to open a new thread in December! :D

    6. @vermont chick Whoever split the thread must have thought a seasonal thread would be nice to get in the mood, so to speak. Rachel feels honored.

    7. Wow, thanks for the update!! Please do keep us posted about how this all goes.

In other tangentially related news, I have taken my need for tiny shoes into my own hands... I got myself some mold putty and will be making plaster lasts this weekend. Hopefully I will be able to make a few decent pairs for my gaggle! My Limhwa and smaller Xagadolls have feet that just don't fit most 1/6 shoes...

    8. I have to wonder if some other companies do the 'wait for ten orders to cast a doll' business plan - it would explain why Xagadoll's wait times can be anywhere from two months to nearly a year, right? Eheh.

Anyway, I'd also love to hear about your experiences with Compassion Doll, @TollTheBell! I do hope to own a Cheng some day. :sweat

    9. @TollTheBell
Oh that's great to hear~! I'm excited to see how your order goes. If they become more popular then it may change the ordering process for the better. :)

      @Idoru
Oh nice, I've thought about making some custom shoes with some plain sculpty just haven't tried yet. Can't wait to see your progress. I have a bunch of small dolls, but they all have slight feet size variations.

    10. I'm going to try making some tiny shoes as well. I have some cold porcelain (that stuff is like a rock when fully dried) that may work for soles.

I know some people are curious about dolls that can wear Barbie size clothes. I was taking photos of my Argodoll / Argonautica Doll Little Ifi so I can sell her (she is lovely and can take pretty much any pose you want, but she is too small for me, so I want to buy the same sculpt in the 1/4 size), and I tried this Barbie (?) dress on her. It doesn't quite fit (the shoulders are tucked back) but it could probably be modded to look nice.

Oh she looks lovely. I've been wondering about these dolls and I haven't seen many owner pics yet.

    12. @mjtomich

She really is lovely! It's hard to find owner pics - I should know, since I scoured the internet looking for them before ordering. If it helps, my order was for Normal Pink skin (it is such a pretty pale, slightly cream-pink color!) and the smallest size chest.

There are some extra photos of her in my flickr album (in my signature), and I'll be adding more soon.

Her mobility joints and knees don't have locks so they snap out of poses a bit too easily, but I think some glue sueding could fix that (I need to try it). Tighter stringing might help as well - she came with rather loose stringing.

    13. @StellaMarigold This is actually the first owner pic of a doll in normal skin from argodoll I've come across. She looks lovely, what a pity she's not your size. ETA: I just checked your flickr. Your scapulars are beautiful! Great work!

And more Rachel spam.. I am fascinated by this tiny lady. I am still surprised how an artist can sculpt a face with so much character (and beauty) in such a small scale.

    14. @ResinRapture - Thank you so much for your kind words about my embroidery! I'm hoping to use some of my skills with doll clothing at some point. Little embroidered roses and flowers would look wonderful on a Russian/Mexican/Bohemian style white dress.

Your Rachel is exquisite! I love her face (and faceup) and the combination of muted hair and clothing colors. Is her skin paler than the "Dark Normal" Ancient Tales usually sells? I have an 18" Ancient Tales doll and love her joints, delicate hands, etc., but she looks pretty tan so she doesn't really work for my original character.

    15. Alright so quick update, apparently general pre-orders are currently "on hold", but the artist is taking pre-orders via QQ chat (Chinese instant messaging system) for which sculpt/colour you'd like, though the normal wait times aren't applying right now because of this mini hiatus so there isn't a definitive "at most a month" wait time.

The available colours are basically pink skin, that yellowish normal skin, white skin, and for 200 extra yuan you can ask for a custom colour. If anybody wants to place an order so you get a slot I can PM you the personal shopper I use. While I'm not really thrilled about the nebulous wait time I have a feeling that anybody who wants one should probably get in sooner than later just in case the artist decides to do more extended hiatuses in the future. According to preliminary reports from my shopper there is no deposit required to "reserve" a doll.

I'll post updates when I get them as per usual. :)

    16. @TollTheBell Oh!! I'm interested... Can you PM that info to me?

    17. @StellaMarigold She is. I asked Olga to make her lighter. But she looks darker with light clothes. Compared to my normal skin dolls she looks tan, though, even if she is lighter. I guess her skin color is similar to Volks normal now. I am sure your embroidery would look lovely on a doll dress!

    18. PMing you both! <3

    19. Thank you for answering my question, @ResinRapture! I like dark skin, but light skin with red/white hair is my favorite!

    20. Well I ordered Feline! I sold off one of my big boys, so she's sort of a little Christmas present to myself... I'm so excited! I can't wait to compare her to my other 1/6 girls... and to try all my CLOTHES on her! :) I have the Hanon Sewing Book, so I might make her something. (Though all of those call for linen... which I definitely do not have! We shall see, I suppose...)

I also did a quick little review video for my Xagadoll Ken, Mini-Ann, and my Soom Minigem boy... it's not the best quality though, it's rather dark in here. I might want to try again. :p I will post it here when it's done and uploaded! If anyone has any questions they're dying to have answered, let me know. Since I'm probably re-recording, I can answer them... maybe.

    21. Oh, awesome, @Idoru! I actually have a Xagadoll Cyrus on order, but I've never seen a good clean shot of the Red Obsidian boy body - one site had a shirtless picture of it and that was ALL. I'd love to actually see what I'm getting (some day in the far, far future)! :sweat

    22. Oh THAT I can show you right now! :) I took a few when I first got him.

    23. If anybody is interested in Compassion Doll's sculpts (Flynn, Elvis, SP Boyd or Dil) I would place an order as soon as possible (immediately if you're able to) with whatever service you feel comfortable with. There's no guarantee these dolls will continue to be produced, see below for more info.

Here's a little more about what is going on. She's discontinuing Cheng entirely, and will not be putting out any more production runs of him despite fans being extremely upset about it. Regarding the other dolls, she's collecting names and if/when she gets enough interest for a sculpt she'll start a batch order for that sculpt. No deposit is required for "reserving" a doll, the only time you'll need to pay a deposit is if/when a batch order is put into production with the rest due upon finish of the production. (Each doll through the personal shopper I use costs around 253USD inclusive of everything but shipping to me, and a doll with a custom colour would be 298USD.)

It seems as if the future of this company/artist is very unclear right now, so if anybody was thinking about grabbing any of these sculpts it's probably a good idea to jump on this!

I'd really recommend the personal shopper I use since she's the only one I've seen who explains the full order process (it involves letting the artist know what you want via QQ instant messaging chat) but if you trust another service to follow the process of getting onto QQ chat and inputting your order, use whatever service you're comfortable with, it's just important to make sure the service understands that there isn't an actual "transaction" happening at the moment.

    24. Thank you!! That's just what I was hoping for. :)

    25. Hi, could you please PM me the information about your shopping contact, too? I had opend a thread about Compassion Doll before but nobody was able to figure out how to place an order with them since they stopped relpying to the questions send to them regarding their hiatus and potential group orders.

    26. Sure, I can absolutely do that! :) I'll get on it in the next couple minutes.

    27. @TollTheBell could you pm me the info too? Thank you so much for the updates I was starting to give up on having one of their dolls!!

    28. Yes I absolutely can! :) Gimme one second.

    29. I've been meaning to mention that earlier this year I worked with Argonautica to create several custom 1/6 mature doll sculpts. Using her female body, I have three different faces: moth, sea creature, and feline. I hope to start selling them later this year. I may just sell off my small inventory full-set, or I may open up nude pre-orders....I'm not sure yet....

    30. Waaah well I just got an email from Angie saying that orders for Flynn opened up suddenly, today, and there were only 10... so I didn't get him. I'm a little heartbroken... Oh well.

@tuneful87 That sound so cool?? I really wanna see that moth...!

    31. I didn't make it into the Flynn preorder either, @Idoru. Oh, well. Some day~

Angie says that Compassion Doll might be opening orders for a NEW doll in March, though, so I'll be keeping an eye on that!

    32. He's up on their Taobao now! (Here--his name is getting translated to "Golden Dog"... lol.) You should go look--he's super handsome...! I don't know if he works for the character I wanted to make Flynn into, but he might? I want him anyway I think... He's got a really great grouchy look. I love it. I'm still hoping for Elvis... I might set up a group order anyway, because maybe if 10 people want in they'll cast one out of cycle?

So which one of us DID get in--I bet it was you @TollTheBell ? ;)

    33. Aha that was indeed me, I just found out a day or so ago. :sweat Whenever Angie gets multiple orders and something like this happens, she just needs to do it via whoever contacted her first to make it as fair as possible. She was going to try and do more but the pre-order was ridiculously limited and very small, only 10 copies every single one in pink skin (I wanted a custom colour but nope:pout:), she wasn't even sure she would be able to get any. I was going to try and get another copy as well so at least 2 people could get him but the pre-order went up early and I couldn't even get my ducks in a row to try!

I'll be looking into it for the next pre-order as well though so between Angie and me I'll try to get at least two copies of whatever is coming next. I'm extremely nervous trying to use Taobao's forwarding service versus just using someone who understands Chinese and can deal with any issues that arise, but as you can see Compassion Doll's stuff is a pain to get a hold of.:| If anybody wants me to try and help explaining how to get the dolls via Taobao's forwarding service as soon as I work everything out let me know. It's going to involve getting onto QQ chat and monitoring that chat in addition to joining a pre-order sub-group when those become available, and then using the link that likely gets dropped into that sub-group to order. A pain in the ass without a doubt.

If you want to ask about a pre-order for Elvis obviously you know I'll join in! I don't know that she'll do it, but I suppose it couldn't hurt to ask.

"Golden Dog" is alright, I actually really like his face but I'm not really feeling all the constant re-using of the same muscular body type. :sweat I really wish she would work on getting pre-orders for some of her other dolls out first.:sigh I'm upset how limited this pre-order for Flynn was and that Angie wasn't allowed to buy more than one, I take no happiness in being the only person to get one and I wish it was a bigger order and more fair to people like Angie who would be purchasing for more than one person.

    34. Aw no way! I just came back from my family visit during the holidays and was about to contact Angie when I read all this... Honestly I love Compassion Dolls work but I don't think I have the time and patience to constantly be on edge in case a pre oder opens just to get one. I'll just admire them from afar and work on my own sculpt. ^^;

Hope you'll post some pictures when you get your Flynn @TollTheBell. I'm really happy for you that you managed to place an order! Congrats! :)

    35. Yeah this all happened super fast.*_* If you want I'll try to keep you in the loop insofar as just shooting you a pre-order link when/if I manage to figure it all out and if you happen to get there in time you could just place an order via the forwarding service taobao provides?

I'll absolutely post pictures! And thank you. I'm happy but I'm also not, I really wanted everybody to be able to get one. :sorry

    36. Matea (Merrydollround Dango) wishes Merry Christmas to everyone!

    37. @Air_Dan What a cute picture! Thanks for posting it!

Also @TollTheBell don't worry! I at least am just happy for you! Your heavy responsibility now is to post a lot of pictures so I can live vicariously through you. ;3 I'm glad someone on DoA got one so I can see them haha. I'm going to try and get in on the next order. I almost feel like this is part of the fun... (I mean obviously the real fun is getting one of these lovely dolls, but the chase is fun too... haha!)

    38. I'll absolutely do that! I take it I'm the only DOA member who currently will own one of these dolls, or at least the only one to post stuff? I'm curious about the construction and the quality. For $250 or so it's no big loss even if the quality is only so-so, but I'll be interested anyway to see about it. I'm unsure but I think they're all hand-cast, I would suspect so especially because of the ridiculously tiny pre-order numbers. Hand-casting can vary greatly in quality depending on the equipment (or lackthereof) the artist uses, so we'll see what sort of quality and defects we're looking at here!

I'm hoping since Golden Dog is new they'll at least be casting that in a bit larger of an order and also allow custom colours. I'm really not sure if I'm going to get him if all we're allowed to do is get pink skin again.:|That's a bit restrictive.

If you want to see about asking regarding an Elvis group order or whatever please feel free. Like I said I'd gladly sign onto anything that involved getting more Compassion Dolls!

    39. As far as I know, you're definitely the only one @TollTheBell! If there's anyone else they definitely aren't posting. I found the company by chance!

I did ask Angie, we'll see what she says. I will post in the proper forum if I get a positive answer!

I do have some good news on the props front! I found a really great set of baking props for Lori Doll at Target, and they are PERFECT for my 1/6s! The only photo I have right now is with an off topic doll but you can see it on my Instagram. I'll take an on topic picture soon!

    40. I'll definitely post pics then! I'm excited to see the general quality too. :) I'm curious how he'll stack up against other 1/6 scale dolls. I only have some Volks Neo Goh bodies I have one of their male EB series, some Obitsus (both male and female), and a couple 1/6 scale dolls from a Thai company that makes original half cyborg type characters, but if anybody wants size comparisons I can just send the pic as a PM since it would be off-topic because of the ABS dolls.

I have a feeling that the Elvis pre-order is probably gonna be a no-go but I'm hoping for the best! In a more likely turn of events we'll likely be looking at mid to late summer for a pre-order of any of the older dolls if we get one. *_*

    41. @Air_Dan She's lovely. I take it you made the clothes?

@TollTheBell Maybe you could ask the mods to split your posts into it's own thread somewhere in the ordering and shipping questions section? It might be interesting for those who want to order those dolls.

    42. @ResinRapture Thank you! No, I don't sew, alas. I bought the dress from etsy, it was made for Blythe, I believe.

    43. I could probably do that if the mods wanted! I've just been doing it all here since it's the Mature 1/6 dolls thread and they're definitely that. :) If another pre-order rolls around and people want info from me I'll either make a notice here and ask people to kindly PM me or I'll make a company-specific thread over in the shipping questions section, although probably the first since this isn't so much "questions" as it would be a tutorial for those who want to run the gauntlet of ordering via forwarder. It's not as scary as it sounds, just a real pain.

    44. @TollTheBell First: Happy New year!
I thought when you start to show your doll people might want to know how to go about ordering, and will likely search- and the information would be more helpful if it's all in one company specific thread.

    45. I just looked through several pages of the old thread and this one. I REALLY want a mature tiny doll. MerryDollRound is high on my list, as is 5StarDoll Miss S (though completely different price ponts, heh heh...). I think I am looking for a bridge between Barbie and BJDs!

    46. You may want to look at vinyl Azones or Momokos if you're looking for a size/style/price point in between Barbie and resin bjds. All the posability but 1/4 the price...

    47. Haha! Sounds a bit like me! Most of my dolls are mature tinies. They can even wear some of the clothes made for Barbie. Though I did collect off topic fashion dolls in a bigger scale for a while. 5Star Dolls' Miss S is definitly one of the more affordable BJDs available.

    48. I split off a distinct thread for talking about Compassion Doll specifically... I think the level of enthusiasm can support it! The new thread is here. (So @TollTheBell, you HAVE to share your boy when you get him in the thread and give us the full scoop.)

Just because it's been a while since I posted a picture... I finished a new skirt for Avery, and got to use these SUPER cute buttons from isewfordoll.com that look like tiny cat faces...! It's a Hanon Satomi pattern, sized for Momoko. This is my second attempt with the pattern.

    50. @Idoru Good idea, and cute skirt!

Question: Does any of you happen to own a Kkerrindoll? I would love to see owner pictures of Kim or any other of these tiny beauties.

    51. Oh I love it! That dress is so charming on her.

    52. Thank you both so much! I designed it, but hired someone to make it for her.

    53. I got a shipping notice for my Feline! I can't wait to get her...! I want to see how she compares to all the rest of my gaggle. :D I think she might be a bit shorter? We'll find out...!

    54. Sorry for the double post, but... she's here!! Here's a picture of her next to my Xagadoll Mini-Ann. There are more pictures in the box opening thread!

    55. Jumping on this bandwagon soon! Well, re-jumping. I had a Soom...something (Mini Gem?) like seven years ago, and I've been mostly in MSD land since then. But...I want something smaller and I'm definitely not a big fan of child-like bodies. A quick search brought me to this thread and Argonautica Little Ifi...and I'm in love! She's just gorgeous, and that body is so realistic and detailed for such a small size! Plus, she looks like a great poser.

I think I'm going for tan skin, and I can't decide between size 2 and size 3 breasts, so I emailed them to ask if I could buy an extra bust and see which I like better. She's going to be a grumpy little pastel goth :fangirl:

Does anyone know if Blythe/Momoko clothes will fit her? In looking at measurements, she's a tad bigger in the bust and hips, so maybe looser clothes would fit? I just know there's a huge selection of really cute clothes for them on Etsy and I have a feeling she's going to be very spoiled. It doesn't help that she's in perfect scale for Re-ment stuff...

      Pray for me :sweat

    56. Welcome to our precious little hell.
