[Adopted] Mature 1/6 Dolls

I'm guessing it's in order to fit in themes with the other dolls. I've noticed alot of people set it up so that you can make families out of the dolls. That's my guess...but I can assure you my plans to get EID's are kinda put on hold because I'm dreading making EID (not sure what the 70cm/28inch doll size is) sized dollhouse and my current abandoned project is getting reworked into JID sized. (MSD i think?) (Using Iplehouse.net doll terms). That I'd appreciate having these 'adults' in a smaller size.

 

I don't know that I'd call it a lack, per se--there aren't an overwhelming number of mature-bodied 1/6th tiny BJDs out there, that's true, but there's a pool of reasonable size to choose from, and it's actually been getting larger in the last couple of years.

Just sticking with what's on topic here: Limhwa makes the ToYou line, Soom does the Mini Gems (including the new Faery Legends), and Souldoll sells the Littles (although they've been sold out for a while). Alchemic Labo did an early run of Unoa Lights in resin--they're on topic, but the later vinyl ones aren't. Lumedoll has the Lights, both male and female. These dolls usually fit Momoko/Blythe/Pullip clothes, and sometimes Barbie, too. (The Lumedoll boys fit into Ken clothes, Taeyang clothes, and action-figure stuff.)

There are also the new Momocolor and Saintbloom dolls, which are slightly chubbier and larger-headed, but more mature than the usual run of Yo-sized dolls. And I know I've forgotten some of the mature tinies. I always do!

 

I wonder if in that scale it's hard to keep the bjd aesthetic that the larger dolls convey?

 

There's also Xaga Doll's Lara, it's available on Mint On Card. I ordered one recently, but not from Mint On Card, I should be getting her latest next week.

 

Heh, that's true! They're a strange little offshoot of the hobby, but one that's hanging in there.

Sometimes I tell people that I collect mature tinies because I enjoy frustration. Sadly, there's a grain of truth to that. It can be hard to source good clothes and wigs and shoes for them. Wigs that small often come with so much fiber attached to the wigcap that the doll's entire head just gets lost in a huge poof of hair, bangs falling to their chin or lower (and forget about finding a nice short wig for a boy that doesn't make his head spherical). Clothes often 'can be made to work' instead of actually fitting nicely, and the tiniest bit too much fabric throws off the whole scale--and shoes, argh, don't talk to me about shoes, I have pulled out all my hair over tiny shoes.

I do own a lot of mature tinies, and I am a lot more likely to look at/buy dolls that are specifically made to fit an existing size of clothing (or that have clothes and shoes offered for sale right alongside). The newer Souldoll Little girl body is perfectly sized to wear Momoko clothes and Azone shoes, for example--what a relief!

 

Hohoho... My Lara arrived yesterday! She is very well packed, and my colleague who helped me to order her was so afraid that she might be squashed in transit. She is really pretty, but I haven't try any wig on her yet. And the set of extra momoko clothes at work (she was sent to my workplace, alongside with all the stuff we ordered from taobao) fits her, just that the top was a little tight as she has very protruding erm... nipples. I ordered her and added in the heel feet, and she was strung with the heel feet. I have never string any other dolls besides my Unoa Sist and Lusis, so now I dunno whether to be brave and re-string to change her into flat feet or not.

 

Okie dokie... I tried Pukipuki/Lati White size wig on Lara and Lara's head is too big! Haha... I find it funny, but at the same time sad, because she has to be bald till I get her new wigs. Thinking of getting 4-5" wig to try on her.

I tried a Rement dress on her and it's a little loose for the bust area. Havent try any shoes on her high heel feet yet. Discover something interesting on her soles though, I think I might not need to re-string her just to change her to flat feet. Will try to post photos of her, even though she is bald~ Haha...

 

Here's a comparison photo of my Lara and off topic Momoko, I hope nobody minds, I just wanna have a quick comparation of my 1/6 dolls. My Lara is supposed to be normal skin, but she looks really pale. She is not as pale to the eyes. I read through the Limhwa To You thread and people said that eyelashes might be too much on such a small doll, now I am thinking the eyelashes are casting too much shadow on her eyes. I have problem taking a good photo of her face with my iPhone.

I have also measured her high heel feet and head. Her high heel feet measures 3cm and her big head is slightly more than 4 inches / 10cm. I just couldn't squeeze her big head into any of the pukipuki/lati white size wigs I have at home.

 

I see the difference between their look as like us human, we as human also have very different look from one another even if we are from the same race. Big eyes, small eyes, beady eyes, round nose, sharp nose, thick lips, thin lips, round face, square face, heart shape face. Even our head size can be vastly difference in size. Hahaha...

Here's a photo of the big head. And this photo also shows how far her arm can be bent. OOOOhhh~~~ I am loving her more and more, although she has to remain bald for quite some time. I bougt a wig from Monique to try, let's see how it turns out. Mudoll also has 4-5 inch wigs.

 

I love the look of mature tinies, but haven't really been able to find any that I liked, but lara is really cute, i appreciate the thread and the pictures, thanks !

saintbloom almost fit into momoko pants, but she is a little too wide around the thighs/hips

there are also fairylands chicline dolls, a bit taller than 1/6 they're like 37cm but they are very mature, they fit into fashion doll clothes too.

soom has a bunch of matures tinies aswell :3

 

I don't mind the thought of "mature" 1/6th sized dolls at all. I know some people think its grotesque or something, but what if a person's character is a child vampire (for example) and she wants to make her into a doll? She'd need to use a 1/6th doll who may look a little mature or be very mature mentally.

I suppose it all goes with a person's personal preference, however. I know I might have a hard time doing so because I see all my tinies as little girls.

 

I think saintbloom dolls are really cute too, but I gotten Xaga Doll's Lara first because she can share most of my Momoko's clothes! And she is so pretty~ *swoon*

Just now I let Lara tried on another set of Momoko clothes, and I confirmed that Lara is a little bustier than Momoko. So loose Momoko clothings fir Lara better. Haven't gotten any shoes for Lara yet. Dunno what shoes will fit her 3cm high heel feet.

I saw that there are some really cute shoes that fits Saintbloom's 4cm feet, but those shoes would be much too big for Lara. I really have to change her into her flat feet.

I too, am fond of mature tinies. Eventually, I've like to get a Limhwa toyou Sara, but she's pretty far down on my list as I don't have a character for her. I just want her cause she's so cute. Lol
I've found that it's easier for me to sew clothing in 1/6th sizes, too. When I get my MSD doll, I'm worried she'll be nude half the time!
Oh, and totally random, but I wish DOA would further divide the marketplace clothing sections to accommodate mature tinies. Lumping them in with YOSD stuff just makes it hard to search. /ramble

Hi Fans of mature 1/6 dolls,

My Lara has hair~ It's a Monique 4-5" Bubbles. Awww.... she is so pretty. I keep bringing her to work with me, I don't have time to play with her when I am at work, but I am happy just seeing her standing or sitting on my table.

I wrestled with her legs and failed badly at changing them to flat feet. Maybe I didn't get the right tool, maybe I am too inexperienced in changing dollie parts. Need to find time to try again, because I can't seem to find shoes for her high heel feet. I am eyeing Monster High doll shoes, but I don't have any Monster High doll shoes and if I buy the clothes pack for the shoes, I don't know what to do with the odd size clothes.



Her bunny bonnet is meant for Monster High dollies, I bought it because the seller said it might fit Lati Yellow / Pukifee, but the bonnet turn out to be a smidge too small (or maybe Lati / Pukifee heads are too big). I tried the bonnet on Pukipuki / Lati White and it's huge. So I thought I wasted money on something that none of my dolls can use. Then I bought Lara and I used the bonnet to cover up her baldness, and to my suprise, it's a good fit. So now the bonnet is hers.

Lara is really beautiful. Does anyone know how her proportions compare to Soom mini gem or Planetdoll mini Riz?

 

Just now I took a bunch of 1/6 mature dollie clothes to let Lara try on, some has a better fit than others. Generally, most pants and shorts doesn't fit, only a pair of Mattel Barbie's pajamas pants fits nicely, it's made of stretchy material. Clear-lan clothes are gorgeous, dresses look good from the front, some dresses' velcro couldn't close fully. Clear-lan jeans (I only have a pair) could not button at all, but if worn with a long top, nobody knows except Lara.

Rement clothes... so far, only the green dress that Lara was wearing when she was a baldy fits well, others are too tight.

I didn't let her try on any Blythe clothes as I think most of the Blythe clothes I have are too childish for her. I bought the blythe clothes with my Dal in mind, so they are not suitable for Lara.

I will take photos when I am free. Hehe...

I bought this Clear-Lan dress long long time ago for my Momokos, but never got around to letting any of the Momokos wear. So now it's Lara's. =D

I can't seem to find any 6mm glass eyes. Anybody has any idea where to get some?

 

I think Sugarble's glamour body for their Sugarsleek line would fit in this category too. I am *so* glad I found this thread because I am thinking about getting a Sugarble Hellena with the glamour body and I was worried I wouldn't be able to find any clothes for her but this sounds like it wouldn't be too bad at all! I love the pics you guys have been sharing of the mature tinies you have!

Hi Kataklymze, from the measurement, the Glamour body can't really wear Momoko tops, unless it's very loose, because Lara is already having difficulty in squeezing into some of my Momoko's clothes. Too chesty. Hmmm... I just checked, YOSD clothes would be loose...

I may be wrong on this, but I think the ones classified as YoSDs are generally pretty young looking, and when they're not I've heard them called mature 1/6 BJDs.

Ive heard they are called mature YOSD's! I want to see more of them, im glad I found this thread now I dont feel like a moron!

 

Yo-SD technically refers to Volks Yo-SDs, which are a specific type of doll. They are also used to refer to (generally more) immature tinies of a similar size (around 26cm). For Yo-sized tinies that are more mature, there's Soom's Teenie Gems and, I think, Sugarble. For 1/6 dolls (that are not Yo-SD sized) that are more mature, that link up there should take care of it.

 

Yes the word - Yo means immature or baby in Japanese. So the class of Yo SD are supposed to be young looking. There are some 1/6 dolls which may be more mature... but I cannot think of any sorry

 

Sugarble has a doll that kind of falls into this category. It still has a relatively chubby body, though. It kinda is like a chibi adult.

 

I love She by Sugarble and I plan on getting her soon. But the last I heard, I know she and Ophelia are off-topic here. Not sure though if she will be included in the reconsideration.
