Fantasia Doll Elder/Senior Sizes

Mar 15, 2016

    1. So a new doll company Fantasia Doll is currently releasing two dolls Jupiter and Jin in what they're calling Elder Man size, but have plans to release 6 more dolls in three other sizes. I figured we could use this thread to talk about the Elder Man dolls and any dolls released in the future for Senior size.

      Website link:
      Code:
      http://www.fantasia-english.com/

Here is a copy of the listed size breakdown for the Elder Man body:

※ Measurements may slightly differ depending on method of measurement used.

I really like the body, but I'm one of those weird people who likes sculpted veins and stuff. :P
Jupiter and Jins faces are also very nice and I think my favorite so far is Jin, something about his nose is really nice.

    2. Jin has a very pleasant, sweet-looking face. That body is impressive, too; I don't think I've seen a body that looked that realistic! (I'm also really new to the hobby, though, so there's a lot of things I haven't seen, l-lol)

    3. It is great to see a new company with realistic adult looking dolls. The body sculpting looks great. Am interested to see if the price will be competitive with other similar dolls. I can see these guys fitting in with my Granado, Dollshe and Iplehouse crews. They especially look similar to Iplehouse which is not a bad thing at all.

So, did anybody else take the plunge and order one of these guys?
I ordered Jupiter in Tan. The order page was a bit cumbersome to use but I think it went through ok.
Now for the wait to see how he comes out. :shudder

    4. The sculpt reminds me to Granado and April Story, but perhaps it's only my imagination. :sweat

I hope they'll have a face up-ed version of these handsome guys. :eusa_pray

    5. I'm really excited about this company, so far I like their sculpts a lot (that body looks amazing!) But I'll probably wait to see more of their future sculpts and posability before planning to buy anything. On top of that... looks like these dolls will be way out of my price range, but whatever, I can save up right? >_<

    6. They cost about the same as similar sized dolls which is a lot but well worth the money if they are as nice as the sculpts appear to be. It is probably hard for a new company to offer face ups until they have sold a few dolls unless the sculptor is also a face up artist like Granado's Crocus . There website outlay looks very ambitious like they intend to offer a full range of doll sizes as well as wigs, eyes, etc in the future.

    7. Yes, I ordered him in natural tan so this picture is hopefully very close to what I will be getting. They added eyes for sale too so you can see what types of eyes will likely come with the full dolls. He looks even better with a face up so I am very excited to see him in person.

    8. I just stumbled upon this very new company and I gotta say, wow, that elder man body sculpt is gorgeous! It's too bad that we can't see how well it poses yet, but that level of detail looks from the photos to be even more intricate than Granado's latest EVOL body.

The two elder man faces are quite pretty, but I prefer something more masculine.

    9. I will explore his posing ability as soon as he gets here. A couple more months to go probably.

    10. I spent a long time this past weekend looking at the top of the male body's legs, where they join with the torso, and comparing that to the same area on other companies' male bodies. Any idea how Fantasia's model hides the ball joints in that region so incredibly well? In most other male bodies, the slits show, which didn't bother me at all until I noticed that they don't exist in Fantasia's pictures. I thought it might just be the way that the doll is positioned in those pictures, but other companies' bodies standing in that same position show the slits while Fantasia's doesn't.

Is it a matter of different approaches to craftsmanship, or posing for the camera?

    11. My guess is that the thigh hole is slit medially towards the thigh instead of forward. I hope that doesn't interfere with sitting. I had asked for some other poses such as sitting and arms out but they replied that the photos they posted were all they were going to for now. No one has these guys yet so am going on faith that they will be worth it.

    12. These are actually some of the nicest male bodies that I've seen. There's some really nice detail - I don't think I'll invest in one, but I look forward to see if anyone else picks one up :)

    13. This body looks a great deal like a body put out by DollsheCraft a few years ago.

    14. I'm really excited about these new Male Dolls. They look incredible! The body looks beautifully done, and love the face sculpts.....but I have trouble telling Jupiter and Jin apart. They look so similar, the only difference I can see is that the tip of the nose on both Jupiter and Jin is different. That's all. Jin has a narrower tip, while Jupiter has a more squared off tip. It would have been nice to see them do 2 very different sculpts, but that's just me being fussy. They are spectacular dolls though.

    15. It is a subtle difference but I think Jupiter looks more serious and Jin is softer, more child like.
They definitely have the same family resemblance dolls from the same sculptor often get.

    16. This company kinda reminds me of Classy Doll and April Story, but the price is higher. I really love the female body they have.

      • x 1
    17. I would love to see posing pictures of these girls. The one big problem with the Classy Doll muscular girls is their posing.

      • x 1
    18. Yea I forgot about that, I hope the company will take some posing pics for us to look at soon.

    19. Very nice. They look like upgraded EIDs, with more detailing and softer cuts, which should lead to more fluid posing. But $975 for a blank doll with high heeled feet surely can't be right, can it? Not in the current economic climate. Or is the additional $180 for an extra head in addition to the one that comes with the body? Still a lot of money. Too rich for my purse.

    20. I didn't look too closely as I have no interest in female dolls, but I think that additional $180 is for an extra head, so someone could have two open eye heads, two sleepy heads, or one of each. At least, that's what I'm deriving from where it says at the bottom, "Item Component : Head + Body + 12mm Eyes, unique only for Fantasia Elder + Genuine product with certificate + Product manual + Box".

    21. That would seem to be the sensible interpretation. So, $795 for a complete doll. That is still $145 more than an EID, and Iples aren't cheap. I wonder if they have settled on the right price point for these, given the state of the market. They are very nice dolls, but too much for me.

    22. It's $795 with one head and heel feet. Not inexpensive, but not a bank-breaker. However, given that an Iplehouse EID with regular and heel feet is $650, I'd say they've set their price point a little high for an untested product.

    23. Their skin options are very limited right now, but perhaps if they didn't charge extra for the non-default skin tones, it'd be about the same?

    24. Uh oh, it sounds like they've got the Dollshe syndrome. >_>

    25. I hope not. They estimated ship time of 90 days which would be sometime very soon-ish.
I do like how Vivian looks.
$675 for a SD doll doesn't seem outlandish to me. If they turn out as good as they look.

      • x 1
    26. Looks like they dropped their price, as the cost for a doll minus high heeled feet was $730 earlier today.($795 with heel feet.) Perhaps they are watching this thread? (I would be, if I were them...) or maybe they meant that to be the price of their male dolls, which should be heavier and therefore take more resin to produce.

Comparing apples to apples, the new price is still a bit more than an EID, as the Iplehouse basic comes with heel feet, so $720 versus $650. But the new price is an improvement.

I really like the muscular body and I'll be interested to see how it poses. But barring pictures from the company, and sale of separate bodies, I'll be waiting a while, as the two facial sculpts don't quite do it for me.

    27. That's an interesting development and a step in the right direction. But I agree; they are a new company and need to beat the rivals' prices to be appealing. Iple are the ones to beat, so I would have liked to see something around the $625 mark, with heeled feet, as a maximum. I still wouldn't buy as I have to be totally obsessed with a doll to pay Iple prices, but I would think that would grab more people. In fact, doing an opening offer of substantially below that would be a good idea. Once dolls have come in and some reviews have been done and people can see this is a good product, they might be able to pay full price. But, yes, $625 inc max for me for these.

    28. I wonder whether Fantasia's planning the same release (and pricing) strategy that they used for the male dolls? First there were two Elder men for sale, Jupiter and Jin; the next release, Isaac, had lower event pricing during a short preorder window. Maybe there's a third Elder woman in the pipeline, with an event price?

Vivian really appeals to me -- she looks like a 1940s Hollywood star -- but I'm already waiting for Isaac, and there's no more doll money in my pocket. :pout:

    29. That release event for Isaac was pretty sweet. I'm totally in love with their male body sculpt, but the faces just don't appeal to me. :\ Still, 530 was what I felt to be an extremely good price for the quality.

    30. I'm in the opposite position -- Isaac's face looks just right for the one character I want to shell, but the character is a lean, lanky fellow, so I'm not in love with the body at all. Still, the event made the experiment worth trying!

    31. Aw, we should've shared a split order or something. XD Ah well, looking forward to seeing your pictures!

    32. I've never seen these before--but it's great to see the diversity in body types! Females with actual abdominal muscles--how neat. I like their resin colors as well--how new is this company?

    33. It is a brand new company- started taking orders April 2016. I hope to show pictures of the posing ability of the male body as soon as I get him. But the preorder for the girls may be over before then.

    34. Pricing is still settling out, it seems -- as of this morning, the Fantasia site shows $675 for the blank doll and a $45 extra charge for heel feet, so $720 vs. Iplehouse's $650 for a blank basic EID Woman. This is not helping me say no to Vivian . . .

    35. That was what it was yesterday. The price dropped after our discussion about how expensive they are versus EIDs. They are certainly now more realistically priced, but I wouldn't say competitively priced.

    36. Absolutely true! Still, I guess I don't expect a brand-new company to start out with a loss leader -- they need money to keep their business afloat, and most likely they won't make it by selling huge quantities right off the bat. Good luck to them -- I hope they survive, and I hope they can fulfill the orders they already have in a reasonable time frame.

    37. I am in two minds on that. Some small doll artists, who seem to favour exclusivity over popularity, charge high prices from the word go. As predicted, not many people buy them. However, the dolls gain a cachet that perhaps they wouldn't have got if they had been cheaper. However, the dolls need to be very, very special for that strategy to work. Other new doll companies start out with special offers to get some dolls out there and get their name about. It is a flooded market and it must be pretty difficult for a new company to make a mark, so that is probably a sound strategy.

For these, the bodies in particular are good enough to compete with the best in the adult/realistic mainstream market, imo. So, a realistic price might be all they need to gradually become known. It depends on how many they want to sell and how quickly, I suppose. I will watch with interest. I am not on the market for ANY new resin atm, so the issue of start up pricing is pretty academic from my personal perspective. However, if they sell bodies separately and for a good price at some point in the future, I could see these being considered as upgrades for my EIDs.

    38. I hope they focus on getting these early orders out reliably. Besides, I want to see @Therealwalter 's review. :)

    39. I L O V E female muscle body, period. If i can i would buy right away, despite of the head that is not my cup of tea, sorry but so realistic bodies with such stylized faces/expression *speaking about females ones* but i came from three years of layaways and i need a stop, maybe i will try to save and then get one full doll from them, hopefully they will put for sale some more sculpts.
The sculpt reminds me a lot of the toned Classy Doll body, which is own and it's great, but Fantasia Elder female body is better in terms of sculpting and details.
I don't see really comparison with Iplehouse, but i'm not a fan of the company, i own a SID Mari which costed approx $1000usd and i do nothing with her, i dislike everything from resin quality to mobility to color resin. Still know nothing or so little about Fantasia but i would surely buy from them while i will never buy again from Iplehouse.

    40. I emailed the company to see about when my order would be ready to ship. They say that it has been delayed for 3more weeks because they are revising the joins on the male elder body to be like the joints on the new female bodies which they feel are more able to hold poses. They have a video up on their site demonstrating the new joints on the female body. The joint demonstration does look good so, again, hopefully worth the wait.

    41. Thank you for the update, @Therealwalter! Fingers crossed that you won't have to wait much longer than the three extra weeks. :eusa_pray

*extending my event horizon for Isaac*

    42. In the Q&A under Vivian it says that they plan to offer her again in tan resin as a special edition later on this year so I do not think they are going to stop making dolls for this body. It would not make financial sense to invest time and effort developing a doll body and then drop it after only two head sculpts for one limited time.
I really like the muscular lady B body as well but wouldn't buy another doll from them until after I get my hands on Jupiter.

    43. I just noticed that they've filled in the rest of the measurements on the girl body. The muscular body has broader shoulders than the A body. Interesting!

    44. I just stumbled across this thread after finding Fantasia. The doll's body looks really appealing and I love the option of a classic body and then the more muscular one. I am looking forward to reviews from people who hopefully receive them soon! I see everything is sold out at the moment.

    45. . . . any news? @Therealwalter? *poking a bit hopelessly at the thread* I still have three weeks to go (15 business days) before I can reasonably poke at Fantasia-Doll about their original shipping date, so I thought I'd check in here. :sweat

    46. I was told that my doll would be ready to ship in another week. That email was on August 21. Nothing new to report.
I am losing interest in ordering another from them even though the prototypes for muscular female body looks very appealing.
Someone on the Dollshe thread said these were sculpted by someone who sculpts for April Storey. I wonder if that is true.

    47. I was afraid that you were still waiting with no news -- argh. I don't mind long waiting times, but I do object to waiting with no communication or inaccurate communication from the company. Here's luck to all of us with open orders!

Interesting about the possible April Story connection. I can't say that I see a family resemblance in the sculpts, but then April Story isn't a company that I follow closely--

    48. Sorry to hear you all aren't getting any updates. You'd think a brand new company would want to make a good first impression. :(

I don't see a family resemblance with April Story either.

    49. To me makes sense the connection between April Story and Fantasia Doll: the muscular female elder body from Fantasia Doll looks like a development of the toned/muscular female body from Classy Doll that was sold onto April Story shop, now my further questions is when the bodies will be finished and eventually shipped to customers that ordered it? :huh?:

    50. I got email response today. They say my Jupiter will ship on Friday. So should be able to show him off soon.

    51. Great news! I'll keep my fingers crossed that they do ship him on Friday--

    52. I finally got my shipping notice. It had to be re-sent because it got caught in my spam filter. I should have my Fly Me to the Moon Jupiter in a week or less. :dance:cheer:celebrate:dance

    53. Hooray!!! I'm relieved for you, and happy that Fantasia is getting their process under control at long last!

    54. [IMG]

He is finally here. And he is gorgeous. The body stands unsupported fairly well and posing seems good so far. The tan is even and a nice shade. He came with his eyes and extra elastic and s hook. The scupt is beautiful. Well worth the wait for any of you guys waiting or considering to buy.

    55. @Therealwalter Wow! He's stunning, thanks for sharing.
Extra excited for my Alice after hearing your review ^^

    56. I'm so glad to see him unboxed and settling in at home! What a handsome guy -- now I'm even more excited about my Isaac. :sumomo:

    57. Fantasia's opening orders for all of their dolls, at 30% off yet! :D I don't personally care for the boys' heads, but I love that body. ;_; I wonder if I'll have any luck splitting an order... but before I get into that, any insight on how it'll hybridize with other 70 cms?

    58. i am quite tempted by fantasias promotion-- i love the female bodies and also pretty drawn to alice's head sculpt. \
Is anybody with shipping notice getting one of the girls? i would love to see more pictures of her posing capabilities.

    59. I'm not certain but can't you order just the body from the doll page?

I assume Where it says "add head" just don't make a selection? At least I'm guessing that's how it works :sweat

      Edit: the discription says bodies

I'm told my Alice should be shipping soon, but no tracking number Yet >.<
