    2. Actually I was thinking about the promised gift the other day ^^ I wonder if they remembered :mwahaha
Can't wait to get my body and honestly I think I regret not getting a Roderich OE. Maybe in the next pre-order... :wiggle

    3. I'm afraid they forgot about that gift somehow, since there is no trace about it. There's no photo, no info, and they don't even talk or give us any hint about it either. But actually I don't really mind about that. If they can offer us some gifts, I would be super happy. If not then that's just fine. Since this year is not easy on everybody, all I wish is that those boys can get to me safely.

Tbh I wished LLT can release that Real skin tone. Just love another boy in that beutiful shade. Does anyone love the same?

    4. I received my Roderich today! I did a box opening video here. :D We got boots and socks as the free gift, which you can see in the video as well.

The NS skintone is really so beautiful and his resin is so lovely to touch. :XD: Here is a photo of him crossing his legs just to see if he can! He poses very nicely...

Just a heads-up, his pointe and demi-pointe feet don't come with S-hooks or any other means of attachment and the S-hook in his regular feet have been closed so there is no way to reuse them. The joint of the pointe feet in particular is also sculpted differently and would require a different S-hook or another means of attaching it. I played around with it and managed to attach them using a thin wire that I twisted around the elastic!

    7. So exciting!!!

Ahh 26th to 29th the tracking was active and now I am like move box move plz :eusa_pray

    8. He is gorgeous! Congratulations! I wonder if the gifts are only for those who had to wait since last fall? That was so kind!

I'm a bit disappointed to hear about the S hooks with the pointe feet. I'm afraid to configure something like that myself.

      • x 1
    9. i'm not 100% sure about the specific mechanics for this particular doll, but i have seen in other set ups using twine to tie the feet or hands to the elastic for the main body part (legs/arms) - maybe would work with less risk to damage anything?

    10. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful boy with us, @kagami and congratz!

You can do that the old, old school way of course, but that makes every change of feet a very fiddly and annoying act. I have to admit that I think that for a high end doll like this which is sold for an otherwise fitting high end price, the lack of attachment for the exchangable feet is rather disappointing. Especially as these feet are one of the outstanding features of the dolls.

      • x 2
    11. Has anyone asked Julia about an attachment method for the feet? I have a whole collection of mini s-hooks so I might be okay when my guy arrives, but she may have another idea.

    12. He's gorgeous @kagami - and congrats on the speedy arrival!! <3

I have to agree, it's pretty aggravating. Ease of connecting the extremities is so common that every doll company I've dealt with perfected it years ago. Not that I'm any less excited to see my boy, but I'll admit that I'm disappointed she let this simple piece of engineering take a back shelf.

      Ditto, lol.

@I<3MySD The gifts were because there was some confusion over shipping costs when we were charged for our dolls last fall, and we had to make up the difference for a higher price. No one was upset about it, but I think she felt bad, anyway. It was indeed very kind of her!

      • x 2
    13. It's so funny how different, and yet the same the new Roderich head sculpt is.

      • x 1
    14. For the ballet feet, I think I will try tying a little loop of ribbon to the foot and then put the hook through the ribbon loop.

      • x 2
    15. @celga that makes sense! That was so kind of her to do!

      • x 1
    16. Thank you so much, everyone! :blush<3 He's truly beautiful and that body is spectacular~ I can't wait to give him a faceup!

I've emailed LLT/Julia asking about the pointe feet attachment and I will keep this thread updated. The owners who received their dolls in my country have been quite disappointed about the lack of S-hooks because of the premium price we've paid as well.

The ribbon method would work just as well, I believe. Like my wire method, it's all about getting the ribbon through the elastic and then tying it that will require some work. He is strung very tightly, which is excellent for his posing, but makes it more difficult on your hands when it comes to changing feet without the right tools or an extra set of hands. All I used was a paintbrush to hold the elastic out of his feet and my hands were pretty achey once I was done ahaha!

      Here are some photos of what I did with wire: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

I also asked her about the jointed hands I ordered in May which were not included. I hope it's just because they're not ready yet. :huh?:

    17. I would not try to thread the ribbon through the elastic. I would use a small s-hook between the ribbon and elastic.

    18. Sounds good. So you would tie the ribbon around the bar in the foot? But that would mean the s-hook would have to be tiny enough to go up into the string channel of the lower leg and yet big enough to accomodate a thick 70cm doll's string - is that feasible?

Thanks for that! What I find especially hard to grasp is that even though the feet problem should have been solved before opening the pre-order, there were 11 more months after the pre-order that she could have used working on a solution.

      • x 1
    19. @nancy_schroeder_ca My bad! I misread what you wrote. The ribbon + s-hook idea is great!

I have these s-hooks from ABJD and they are the perfect size for these guys. :)

I also finished his face-up today, so here is a photo of my Matthew!

    20. @kagami Thank you for the hook link! I have added them to my cart.

      • x 1
    21. Hi all,
I just got a response from Miho about the S-hook situation and she told me to purchase them from local hardware stores and then attached a photo of the S-hooks we'd need. They're the same ones as the ones from ABJD and I will link them AGAIN for reference. :huh?:

Like what you've said, @Mandagore, I too find it strange that we were not given a solution or even these S-hooks to begin with after an 11 month wait and a previous Chinese pre-order for her to have trouble-shooted this.

      • x 3
    22. Wait, the first Chinese pre-order buyers did not get attachments for the feet either? Well, I have to say, she is consistent in her customer service ways, if nothing else.

Thank you for the info, @kagami
Basically, what they said is like if I order a pair of designer lace-up shoes, and when I receive them the laces are missing, and the shoe maker tells me to buy my own laces somewhere else. (Also, these are special S-hook sizes and shapes that hardware stores in my country don't even carry, and considering shipping fees, ordering from overseas just for a set of hooks is slightly over the top.)

    23. Yeah I have to say, I am quite disappointed in this development. It is, for some reason, making me way less excited to receive the doll. I'm a BIG stickler for customer service, and I think it's a bit strange that this was a known issue and there wasn't even a warning. If I would have known I would have been able to prepare myself and order them in advance, even if I was upset about it. Now, the hooks won't come for at least two months giving the global situation.

      • x 2
    24. @Mandagore My friend was recommended s-hook options on Taobao from someone in China who had one of these guys and I inferred from there. Even so, if the Chinese owners got s-hooks and we didn't, it's still inconsistent customer service which isn't great. :nowords: And you've hit the nail right on the head. Those s-hooks aren't readily available everywhere which just makes things more frustrating and why I was trying to find a solution that did not involve s-hooks to begin with... The wire I used is probably easier to find than these s-hooks as I got them from a fabric store...

@I<3MySD I'm very sorry to hear that.. :( If it's any consolation, I have to say that I am very happy with the doll itself because he's stunning and I can't stop staring at how beautiful everything is about him.

And I totally forgot about the jointed hands update. They will be shipping in August!

      • x 2
    25. i had to buy S hooks for another situation, and can say that it does take a while right now to get stock from overseas to USA in particular. measuring what i got from Alice's that i think are the same set, these from McMaster Carr might help those in the US with a faster source.

They might need to be reshaped a little with pliers, to fit the foot loop and if the channel in the ankle's resin is narrow: LINK
if the elastic is larger than 4mm it might be too tiny of a loop though. there a lot of choices though: LINK
for some reason i thought the problem was getting the hook around the loop in the feet, was why i suggested the twine earlier.

@kagami - do you think they match up with what you had on hand?

      • x 1
    26. @Grimalkin My initial impression is that those might be too wide to fit into his ankle channels as they are quite narrow, but if some reshaping can be done to make the width thinner, I think they could work.

Below is the image that Miho sent to me and is pretty much what we can get from ABJD. I'm not very good at converting inches to cm, so I hope this is helpful! It's 2.4cm in total length and 0.8cm for the opening width. Even then it still needs to be reshaped slightly.

      • x 1
    27. ooo thanks for the pics, that is a narrow channel in his ankle...
i have a lot of extra hands and feet, so this stuff is on my mind a bit

2.4cm = 15/16" (basically 1") and 0.8cm is 5/16" but the reshaping might be tough since the ones i linked are truly S shaped.
so weird it's hard to find the ones that look like what Alice's sells with an almost straight bar between the two loops.

hmm, was also contemplating these quick connects called power clips used in fishing tackle: LINK
the medium looks like 2.5cm long, 0.7cm wide, the wire is 1.5mm

    28. Late to the party, but good to see these boys starting to arrive home! That's odd about the hooks, though.
@kagami - the dramatic look works well on your guy! Thanks for the info too!

      • x 1
    29. @Grimalkin Those power clips look like they might work! :aeyepop:

@Sianserais Thank you so much, my dear :whee: And you're most welcome~ I can't wait to see more of these boys arriving home!

    30. Got my tan Roderich today, but I’m waiting to unbox him tonight with a friend who got him in white.

Quick question though: anyone receive the jointed/glove hands with their orders?

      • x 3
    31. @xylene How exciting! Please post pictures :D I didn't receive the jointed hands I ordered with this and have asked LLT about this. Miho replied saying that they will be shipping out separately in August, so I assume in the next few weeks!

      • x 1
    32. Thank you so much for the information @kagami !

Will post pictures as soon as we can, though I get pretty frustrated with Flicker. ♥︎ We’re doing the double unboxing in about two hours. Having this giant box by my desk all day has been a sore temptation.

      Update!
      • Our jointed hands were included with our boys!
      • My tan boy is somehow shorter than the white boy.
      • One ankle hook was severely bent in the middle and caused gouges inside the ankle cup and to the foot, too.
I’ll try to post pics in the next day or so. If you’re impatient you can also see video on my Instagram stories. (u4bik on Instagram)

    34. @xylene Thanks for those beautiful pics! Just for sure, may I ask is that boy in the new Light tan corlour?

      • x 1
    35. That is too bad about the damage. :(

Gosh my tracking said the airline is shipping on the 1st and then said airline is shipping with a different time stamp today. Transfer flight or something? My alice collections order earlier this year took like 3 "airline is shipping"s before getting to the USA

      • x 1
    36. It's really great the boys are finally shipping out, but the news here make me slightly concerned... No S-hooks for extra feet? Damaged joints by the included S-hooks? Difference in size? I'm sure I'll love my Roderich (once he arrives - for now he's still sitting in China waiting for a flight), but this all mars the experience slightly.

@xylene Please can you take photos that show how your boy is shorter? I'm not on Instagram and I'd love to see that. Do you think he's smaller overall or can you figure out why he's shorter?

@kagami Your Roderich looks cool, different from others I've seen. Really great face up! And thank you for all the information!

      • x 2
    37. @Ophiaca I'm feeling the exact same way. Like, my excitement for him has completely diminished. I'm kind of scared that mine will also be damaged.

      • x 2
    38. @Ophiaca Here's a link to the comparison video I took using Instagram: View size comparison video

@Angeville He's tan, not light tan. My phone pics and video don't do the colour justice, but I've taken some shots with my Olympus which I'll post here a bit later today. :)

@I<3MySD Even though my tan boy had a bent hook, my friend's hooks in her boy were all fine. I'm the only person I know of who has had this problem.

I've also uploaded a video of the bent hook: View hook video

Judging the location of the bend, I think it's likely this happened during installation, not during shipment. The problem, of course, is that the opposite end is crimped so I can't easily remove the hook to unbend it. I'll have to spend some time with it to solve this problem.

      Update:
      Fixed video links. ;)

    39. @xylene I watched your vids, but the angle is not very helpful to judge size differences, also you never see the whole dolls nor exactly how they're posed. It does look like the tan boy is not only shorter but also smaller overall.
Of course, you saw them in person, but it really would be more helpful to see a picture of them upright, side by side, head to toe, in front of a wall or something. But I understand this can be difficult to arrange now.

Anyway, what could be a possible reason for a noticable size difference between the skin colors? They would not make separate body sculpts and molds for them, would they? I know dolls get smaller when the replacement molds are not all made from the master sculpt, but made based on the old molds, at least that's how Supia explained why her dolls got smaller over time. She changed her casting company because of that.

    40. @I<3MySD I hope your guy will arrive safe and sound and you'll be able to love him! I am still excited about mine, the bad customer service isn't his fault. ;) Most everything can be fixed, it's just that with a doll in his price segment that shouldn't be necessary, so it's irritaing.
@xylene Thank you very much for the links! I'm not sure what causes the difference... The shoulder joint does look smaller but I can't see the rest well enough. But if the doll is smaller overall, in every respect, that would exlain the problem with the S-hook, because then the string channels would be narrower as well.

      • x 2
    41. @Mandagore I wonder if its a difference of the resin batches themselves? Maybe the different colors have different shrinkage or something when they cure? Definitely seems odd.

      • x 1
    42. @I<3MySD I would like to know that too. The technical side of things can be fascinating...^^

    43. I think some resins can shrink a bit as they cure.

    44. @Mandagore The unhelpful video is all I have since the other Roderich belongs to my friend. I was too excited to take stills and getting them both to stand (especially my poor boy) was a bit frightening. I’m meeting my friend again in a couple weeks so more photos will be taken then.

      Good news:
      • I tried many methods to unbend the hook, but heating the hook was successful. It’s not perfect, but much better!
      • I had bjd hooks on hand that work for the pointe and demi pointe feet! They’re 2cm but the key to them working is the diameter of the bend itself. I’ll post pictures once I get to work.
I tried hot glue sueding him last night. ;) The glue doesn’t adhere to his resin at all! Fortunately I have real suede and will try that next.

Do these guys come with a coating of MSC on them? It looks and feels like maybe they do, but this is my first LLT (and first bjd bigger than 51 cm) and I have no idea.

    45. @nancy_schroeder_ca Yes, they all shrink as they cure. The question is, do the kind of color pigments in the mixture have an influence on how much they shrink - and it would have to make a big difference, if you can see it at first sight.
If the additional shrinkage came from making new molds from parts that had already been casted from molds themselves instead of from the original master sculpt (which is the reason why r*casts were smaller than original dolls as well), then it would mean they would have made the smaller tan dolls after having done the other colors, for it to be so so noticable a difference. The process would have to be repeated several times for it to show so much.

    46. She may have chosen a different resin for the tan to get the color she wanted.

Update: My Lazuli has cleared customs in San Francisco! My packages seem to arrive faster when they travel through San Francisco!

I am still in 'check tracking number too many times a day mode', but it just says it's shipping. Hehe.

I actually had a dream about my doll the other day, so I think it's safe to say I am super excited for him to arrive. :D
Congrats to everyone who already got their dolls. And thanks for all the info.
Seems these guys are keeping us on our toes. Which I guess is part of the reason a lot of us bought them....this is a bad joke. Anyway. I'm getting over being sick and a lot of other stuff, so don't mind me. Lol.

    53. Sometimes there's mold release residue on new dolls, it feels a bit toothy or powdery. Just means the doll needs a good wash. It would def keep glue from sticking to it.

My doll has also arrived in San Francisco and better still I am also in San Francisco! Crossing my fingers that he goes out for delivery tomorrow and I don't have to wait til Monday or something. :kitty1

    54. I received mine today!
I actually checked the tracking at 10:00 AM and it said it was still in CA, but at 10:05 the mailman delivered it. The tracking didn't say it was even at my city until 9:58 AM.
I received my jointed hands with my order like some other people, luckily.

What I found odd though, I bought all of the feet options, and the shoe tree ones came with S-hooks? They were closed on the part that attaches to the feet though, so I didn't bother trying to take them off to see if they'd work with the pointe/demi-pointe feet.

      • x 2
    55. Wow I wasn't expecting USPS to say the expected deliver date is today.

Now to incessantly check every time the front door security camera sets off lol

    56. My Neil arrived this morning as well! I was so surprised. How did he even get across several states so quickly??
      My guess is trebuchet....
It was actually a bit of a scare because his box was completely smashed on one side!!! :horror: (< this was the face I made when I opened my front door and saw the box)
The inner box is completely broken, but I am so, so, so thankful for the careful packaging and all that foam!!! The doll, all the feet, and the hands were completely safe. <3
      Oh my goodness.

I got my glove hands as well! And s-hooks on the shoe tree feet. <3

On a random note, I ended up trying some 5th Motif hands on him and the LLT white skin is almost a perfect match to the Dollshe Fresh color of the past few years (since it just got changed) for what that is worth. Maybe helpful to anyone? Fresh is just one drop more yellow. It's amusing to me because the hands arriving in Fresh was a total mix up, but now I am going to use them! (shakes fist at the heavens)

Annnnd it turns out none of the stuff I was actually gonna have him wear fits him quite right (the harness pulls funny around the collar bones which isn't too unexpected since it was made on another doll, and the wig looks too big), so back to the drawing board!

    57. With all the new guys incoming, do any of you have tan or light tan guys in comparison with copper oriental dolls? I would really love to see how they together.

      • x 2
    58. I got my box about an hour ago and same thing! The outer box is crushed and has a fist size hole punched through it. Opened it to find the LLT box also crushed with the same hole punched through. The small metal box holding his glove hands was dented on one side as well, but otherwise he appears to be okay. I'll have to inspect him more closely once we get home.

I seem to have gotten a free gift, did anyone else get something?

      • x 2
    59. @idrisfynn
Oh no, I'm so sorry your box was also mushed! Hopefully the foam has done it's job for you as well!!! It's so scary when the boxes look like that.
My LLT box is bent inward on the top in the distinct shape of another package...I could probably give you exact dimensions, lol. And then one side is bent and that whole side is a flap now. So...I guess this is fate's way of telling me I don't need to save another big doll box. :sweat

For the free gift, do you mean other than the boots and socks?

    60. My box arrived. For some reason the mailman wasn't wearing his uniform and I almost didn't answer the door!
