Iplehouse Waiting Room v35

Feb 3, 2020

    1. I've ordered a BID on Dec 15th and I'm in the UK. I've checked my order status and says it's being "delivered". So I guess they've already started sending the dolls?

      EDIT:

I've checked my Spam folder and I've found they've sent the doll on the 25th of March. I've checked the tracking and today has arrived to my local depot and I'm waiting for the letter to play customs clearance! So yea, apparently, they're sending the dolls to the UK

    2. Thank you so much for letting me know, that's really reassuring and exciting! Hope your doll arrives soon :)

    3. @Thanato-Cat Thank you for letting us know- it's good to know that they are working on orders shipped to Europe! I placed my order on Dec 27 and I'm still waiting //was worried IH had stopped shipping out orders//

    4. I'm in the UK, and I didn't read this thread before placing my order for an FID Bichun (on a 3-part layaway) today!

The situation is changing on an almost daily basis, so it will likely change (or hopefully return to some sense of normality) by the time the dolls are ready for shipping. I'm not worried, even after reading this. FID might not be considered too 'large' for shipping. Or this embargo on packages destined for the UK will be lifted/eased by the time my guy is ready.

Plus, they still have EMS listed with UK in Zone 3 without any type of warning gone up in the ordering process. Yes, I know that might take time to apply and so they won't do that, but there's nothing outright that warns of delays or embargoes on certain areas. They're likely holding packages for certain countries until the postal system is cleared up and flights aren't as delayed.

It will pass. We have to believe that. But, I might just drop a message on their Q&A for some clarity.

    5. I placed my order for a Iplehouse FID Isobel on the athletic body. She will have no face up as I'm just after the body for my Harace. I'm not in a rush for it as my Harace has a body already (slim), so we shall see when it turns up here in the UK!

    6. I can confirm that Iplehouse used EMS to ship my doll. I was wondering if they've used another company. My little boy has arrived this morning. Long, sweet wait.

Good luck with your dolls to you all!

    7. Ordered gray skin nYID Grace today with special custom faceup! I've been waiting years to order this girl. Her concept is Eris, Goddess of Chaos. She has claw mark scars over one of her eyes. I'm so excited! Something nice to think about amid our COVID lockdown here in New Zealand. It's been so long since I've been in a waiting room thread.

    8. Oo! Congrats! You sound really excited and happy!

    9. @Ian-KunX - I'm glad to hear you got to order your Yur. ^_^ She's going to look great in DB. Please share photos when she arrives!

@ivorysand - It sounds like FIDs still tend to take three months even when other sizes are shipping faster, if I understand correctly. Certainly we can hope things will improve by the time your Bichun is ready.

@Thanato-Cat - Congrats on your cutie! Good to see some dolls are still getting through.

@Buzzibee - Hope you'll be sharing pics of your girl too! She sounds like an interesting character to shell. ^_^

    10. I can't wait to see her. <3 ...In a few months since the dark resins always take longer. XD;

      Although in the meantime I had a little oops on Mandarake and got a shipping notice for the EID Evan I bought last night. >_>; Which goes in the secondhand waiting room. XD;

      @Buzzibee She sounds so cool!

      @Thanato-Cat Aww, he's adorable! Grats!

    11. @Ian-KunX - Oh, I saw that Evan! I'm glad someone here snagged him. Congrats, and hope he doesn't take forever to get to you!

    12. He was just too pretty to pass up, especially for that price! Him and Akando are my favorites of the old Noctarcana Circus boys so I'm super excited. I'm going to have to improvise a toga for him or something, I don't own a single thing that'd even come close to fitting. XD

I figure it'll take a couple weeks at least if Japan's postal system and flights out are as slammed as South Korea's, I ordered a dress for my Yur before I even ordered her because I didn't want it to go out of stock and some wigs for my other dolls and it was shipped on April 1st and didn't even leave South Korea until the 8th, and just tonight got to the regional distribution office here in CA.

Your Evan is gorgeous! And that wig is divine!

    13. Hi!
Ordered my first BJD ever, a nSID Mari, with the haute couture face-up. Been wanting a doll for years. I'm so excited for her arrival, though I guess I will have to wait 'till summer before she arrives.

@Thanato-Cat Your boy is so cute, love his shirt! congratz!

@Ian-KunX Let's hope you don't have to wait too long!

      • x 1
    14. @Litenliten Congrats! First is so special!

@Sianserais Will share pics. Although it’ll be a while before her ‘look’ is complete. Custom faceup means clothes and wig will be waiting till later.

    15. It's been 3½ months since I placed my order with IP and I decided to ask them on their Q&A board when my order would ship. I got a reply from them saying that the post office is not accepting EMS to my country (Denmark, Europe) so they can't ship out atm. It's a bit strange as I just had another EMS parcel (from different company) arrive from S.Korea.... :huh?:
      Totally bummed out about this..

    16. Sorry to hear it. It seems like there's not a lot of consistency in how things are being handled right now. At least you know your order is safe, I guess?

    17. I just got a shipping notice for one of my orders, two of my nSID boys are incoming finally.

      • x 1
    18. @Sianserais Thank you. I actually checked the EMS site for my country to see if it's correct that there's problems with mail from S.Korea- but according to the EMS site there should be no problem with shipments from Korea... so not sure why Iplehouse said that. But I probably shouldn't bother Iplehouse about it... :(

    19. I've been thinking about the 'EMS' mess... I wonder if individual post offices could implement different restrictions based on 'immediate' zones covid status's. Like how certain bank branches closed while others stay open. Mine is close but one not far from it is still open... Maybe it's like that? At least IP is holding orders at their offices.

    20. Iplehouse sent me this today: 'It should be shipped this week, but the post office is not not accepting EMS to your country Australia due to the corona virus, so we will keep the parcel in our office until delivery resumes. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'
      :...(
It's bee four months and my girl is ready to go. Looks like something is wrong, but on which side? Australia is accepting international deliveries, for what they have told me. Yes, Australian postal services are unpredictable and shady as koalas, but still. Is it Korea that not letting the parcel out?:pout:

    21. @Dunpeald
I check the Australia post website every few days to check up on things and it says that Korean post is no longer sending things to Australia. I'll be in the same boat as you as soon as my doll is ready.

      • x 1
    22. I think we need a REALLY BIG BOAT for all the "your doll is ready but we can't send it right now" ppl lol I have SID Kali and FID Luna both the full sets >< been sitting for a few weeks now... and I'm in Canada lol

      • x 1
    23. I hope everyone's held up dolls are able to move soon. :<

The one good thing about just having placed my order a couple weeks ago, I suppose - She probably won't be ready for at least another four months so things might calm down by then. (Or get worse, but who knows? XD)

    24. Hmm, wonder why chaps in my local post office said all is as usual. Though I have troubles with that postal office all the time, so I would rather doubt them.

      That's hard.
Mind it is my first doll and I couldn't even make any clothes or wigs for her. And no idea if I will be able to afford one in the coming years as I have lost my contract. All seems too dark recently.

    25. @Dunpeald Seems like it's a standard reply they give? The reply they sent me said the following "...the post office is not not accepting EMS to your country Denmark due to the corona virus, so we will keep the parcel in our office until delivery resumes. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We will ship it as soon as possible once delivery is resumed."

Since I just received an EMS parcel from Pygmaliondoll sent from S.Korea I find it odd that Iplehouse can't ship... :huh?:

    26. Iplehouse uses only EMS, but there are a few other international shipping companies out there so that could maybe also be a factor in this. /shrug
I know they are still shipping to the US for now. One of my orders is out and in the hands of the post. I've no clue when my boys will get here, use to be 3 two 5 days from finding out doll is on shipping. So far tracking hasn't moved and I doubt it will for a little while.

    27. @Tippetarius I hope your doll will arrive soon- make sure to share a photo or two :3

    28. Dolls as the case is, not only is my order with SID boys shipping, but my Kali is now on shipping too.
I got her to trade bodies with one of my YID girls.

    29. Looks like they have that typical 'You are talking to robot' marketing. Somehow I had an illusion that Iple house is more or less professional company.
I have noticed how client-unfriendly Asian marketing is. Communication strategy is usually so badly done, they don't know their clients at all, poor planning and loads of other issues that are so unprofessional. Apologies, that was a marketer's complaining))

    30. @Dunpeald Yup, it's definitely the 'You are talking to robot' marketing being used >< I must admit that I rarely buy dolls from bigger companies because too many times I have felt the customer service isn't the best with the bigger companies and the wait times way is too long for my liking.
Smaller Asian BJD companies such as Alice in Labyrinth (Japan) and PygmalionDoll (S.Korea) have absolutely amazing customer service, I can't say enough good things about those! Anyways, it's my first time buying from Iplehouse- I just hope the waiting will be worth it *fingers crossed* :3

      • x 1
    31. I'm in the same boat as you, then, having only just placed my order for an FID Bichun on the 5th of this month. I could've sworn it was further back than that... It's this damned lockdown; it's screwed me over for dates and days-of-the-week!

And, I'm paying on layaway, 3-part. So, even if he's ready before my last payment, I'll have to wait until he's paid off before they send him out.

By that time, it should've calmed down some. Hopefully, enough to send the smaller dolls out, if not the bigger ones as well.

@LotteRotten - It's my first time buying an Iplehouse, too, after about eight years "quietly" pining for one of their gorgeous boys. But, it's taken me about that long to come up with a character deserving of their Bichun sculpt. Who have you gone for?

    32. @ivorysand Ahhh I must admit that remembering the different Iplehouse sculpts are not my strong point- but I do know the Bichun sculpt, it's the handsome male with the slight asian look, right? :3 I remember face up artist SDink once posted photos of this sculpt- such beautiful face!! What skin colour did you order him in?
The Iplehouse doll I'm waiting for is a nYID Nancy. I had saved up money for quite a while in order to be able to order her... just hope she will ship soon, can't wait to see her in person- and hope she will be worth all the waiting! :XD:

    33. Yes, that's Bichun. I've admired him, Eric, Oscar, and Claude [the last three being rather similar 'grinning' sculpts] for about as long as I've been in this hobby, which is 8yrs. But, the SID and EID are just too expensive for me. So, I've gone for FID instead. I'm getting him in the Special Real tone that he's advertised in. But, I'm getting him blank, so that I could afford him.

Nancy looks gorgeous. I don't remember seeing her before, but then I've not looked at anything smaller than the SID sculpts. :sweat What resin tone have you opted for?

    34. I don't know if this is the same Bichun...but I have a Bichun that was faceupped by SDink...I got him second hand so maybe he is? He was listed as WS...but sometimes his floating head I can also put on an old NS body. I think he is on an old WS body in this photo.

I hope you enjoy your incoming nYID Nancy!

    35. I was definitely worried about international shipping with the virus. Stella ended up staying in S. Korea for almost four days and then New York held on to her for two days. Usually our packages take four days to arrive via EMS. She did arrive in perfect condition though... So I ordered Rex asap. I hope you guys can get your dolls soon and safely.

    36.
    37. The sad thing is that Iplehouse used to be known for excellent customer service, but it seems they lost their English rep a while back and things haven't been the same since.

I wouldn't say that. Have you checked out this thread - Favorite Independent Doll Artists? The larger problem is that people have shifted to sharing their dolls on sites like IG and such, and don't come here to talk like they used to. Heck, it used to be that every time a well-known company released a new doll you'd see pages of chatter about it, but now often there'll hardly be anything. So it's not surprising that people post about the smaller companies even less.

    38. @ivorysand Ahhh I'm not very familiar with the FIDs (even tho I hear more and more people mention them)- it's basically smaller versions of the bigger dolls? Are you going to paint and style your Bichun as an Asian looking guy- or will he be painted and styled as a caucasian looking boy? I feel his sculpt is very versatile, so many different looks could work for him :3
The Iplehouse Nancy that I'm waiting for doesn't seem to be very popular (maybe because she looks a bit arrogant/bitchy in the photos that Iplehouse posted of her?!!)^^ I ordered mine in the Normal skin colour. I'm curious to see what the resin colour will look like..

@luluna Oh my gosh- Yes, that's him! That's the stunning Bichun I remember SDink painted! You're lucky to own this beautiful doll, SDink is without a doubt one of the best face up artists out there :3 Thank you for sharing the photo!

@Dunpeald You're very welcome^^ Like @Sianserais mentions above, it does sadly seem like many people have moved to Insta/FB when it comes to sharing dolls- but thankfully there are also still people here on DOA that dig indie doll artists and that share photos of their dolls from smaller companies^^

    39. Lotte, my Bichun is destined for an original character of Korean origin. Hence, my choice of the deeper 'Special Real' tone. I'm going to wait for his arrival to decide which character, however, as there are two options at present. It changes day to day currently. Then, I will likely find a face-up artist. I tried painting the Saint in my avatar, but ultimately relented and went to a pro. They've done two of mine, so I might see if they can do my Bichun as well. And, yes, FIDs are the smaller versions of their EID range. I'm eyeing an FID Miho to be Bichun's lover, but I might wait until the next run of them. I'd have to put her on credit [on layaway] to afford her now. I just hope I'm not waiting too long for that, or Bichun, and that I bond with Bichun in that size. I'm used to SID and EID sized dolls.

    40. Hi all, I'm very new to all of this, having ordered my first BJD, an FID Aaliyah, in mid-February. I have no idea how long the wait usually is but I know that the pandemic is going to obviously also be a factor right now. Hope you don't mind if I wait here with you as I'm very anxious to get my first doll. I've bought wigs, eyes, and clothes for her and I can't wait to see how she'll look. I'm in Canada and I'm wondering if any other Canadians here have received orders from IH recently? From what I've just read on this thread I guess that IH isn't shipping to certain countries...

    41. omg yes THIS.... it was near the end ot CH run. They had one go on maternity leave... SHE was the top notch English and it's just a hunch of mine but i think Zako may have also been one of the star English ppl. Yes I have my reason lol.
2 ish months is a good 'usual' NON pandemic time limit at normal times. There are seasonal times that change it some.
I am in Alberta and I have been waiting for almost a month after they created the 'way bill' (the paperwork to ship) but then didn't ship saying they couldn't 'post it' so they were holding it at the store. SOME ppl have been notified and have 'received' their dolls. There seems to be an inconsistency with Canada that I have noticed.

      • x 1
    42. @ivorysand I hope you will post photos of your Bichun once he arrives :3 And I hope you will fall in love with his size as well :3 I collect mostly 60cm dolls, but I do like the idea of realistic-looking smaller sized dolls. The big SD dolls just take up sooo much space + they often cost a lot more >< FID Miho is gorgeous- and she has that Asian look to her as well, she would definitely go well with Bichun! But I guess you'll wait with ordering her until you have made sure that the FID size is for you? :3

      • x 1
    43. I considered going for a FID Yur instead of Doll Choice SID, due to the reduced cost and there being so many lovely FID outfits these days, but decided against it due to eye/wig sizes and the fact that regardless of proportion, mini dolls have never had much success here so it was better to go for the big size and just deal with the space issues rofl

Bichun is a lovely sculpt, ivorysand! I hope he fits in well with you. <3

      • x 1
    44. Yes, space issues are why I'm now looking at FID and similar sizes. Wigs and eyes will be an issue, but I've turned my hand to clothes-making already. I can, maybe, have a go at wigs, too. Starting with the bigger dolls and working down to the smaller. I did intend to try last year, but I never made the full leap. I bought the wefts, but I did nothing else with them. They've been sitting in a box. If they were the right shade for Bichun's intended character, I'd use them on him. But, he's not an ash-blonde. :sweat Either that or I learn how to potentially modify existing wigs that run a little large for them.

As for eyes; well, as long as they come with the desired colours, it'll be all good. I just don't know how lucky I can get, after receiving two Granado guys with acceptable colours. :XD:

    45. I'm getting a little worried about their storage situation.
How many can dolls can they make before they no longer have any space left in their offices to store them?
I suppose all we can do is hope for the best.

    46. @Lotte Rotten Oh I have a new Nancy in NS I got this January. I'll post soon so you can see her skin tone. I did her faceup. (She is a Korean model and artist named Eun Ji.) I got her in doll choice on a new SID body.

@ivorysand Here is Jae Jin. He is a Korean model and actor. He is in real skin and is an FID. His wife is Yoona (FID Isabel RS with a faceup by ZakoZako).

    50. @Mahgiep We seem to have the same taste in dolls- not only am I waiting for my Nancy, but I also purchased a PygmalionDoll Eita head earlier this spring^^ Your Nancy is lovely and so is your Eita! I feel the Nancy sculpt- like the Bichun sculpt- is very versatile, and I like how you have painted and styled your Nancy as a beautiful Asian lady^^
I was wanting to put my Eita head on a Iplehouse male body- would the Iplehouse Normal skin + Pyg.Doll white skin work? The Iplehouse normal resin is pink in colour, yes?

@ivorysand I was looking at comparison photos of the different Iplehouse doll sizes- I wasn't aware of how small the heads of the FIDs are! For some silly reason I thought their heads were the size of regular MSD dolls- but obviously that's not the case as they have realistic proportions compared to most MSDs! Good thing about their heads being so small is that you won't have to use a whole lot of wefts when making them wigs^^

      • x 1
    51. @Mahgiep Wow, Jae Jin is gorgeous! I love the sharp brows, though I intend my Bichun to have a softer brow shape.

Lotte, I have already seen a couple of alternatives by professionals over on Etsy, if my attempts don't go quite how I want them. The problem is that, as with my avatar doll [Ethan], I've got a rather specific image in mind for my Bichun's hair. Anything not quite right will be, well, not quite right. :sweat And, yes, I suppose I wouldn't be using as many wefts per se, but I'd probably have to use smaller wefts. I'll try my hand at it some point. Whether with Bichun, when he's here, or one of my bigger guys, before Bichun gets in. If this lockdown goes on much longer, I'm going to have to find something that I've not tried before, to keep the boredom from getting to me.

      • x 1
    52. I need to look and see what color Eita I got. My first Pygmalion Chen was very very pink so I ordered Eita and Han in the lightest shade, I think. I'm pretty sure an IH body might work but I often use pastel to color match and I definitely used a pale green pastel on all three heads for matching my Dollshe oriental body they share. I think that IH might be a slightly lighter color. But very close. I hope I didn't confuse you!

    53. @ivorysand I don't think it will be any more difficult to make a wig for a smaller sized doll than it is to make a wig for a SD sized dolls but like you said, if it for some reason go wrong, one can always buy a wig instead^^ If you happen to have wefts at home, you should definitely go ahead and try to make some wigs! The place on Etsy where I buy my wig-supplies from are closed thanks to Convid19, so annoying as I would love to sit down and make a wig or two ><

      @Mahgiep Yes, you're right that the 'normal skin' tone that Pygmaliondoll has is very 'pink/fleshy' in colour. I got my Eita in the 'White' skin colour which is like a light normal skin with pink undertones.... looks like your Eita is also in the 'white' skin tone? I do like the look of the Iplehouse male bodies, but it's so difficult sometimes to find a body to match a floating head as both skin colour + proportions have to work...sigh ;__;

    54. @Lotte Rotten Oh do I know! I have 3 male bodies for 17? heads (I've lost count!) i have ordered 4 more bodies but they are not ready. And then there's the shipping mess. Two of the ordered bodies now have different color resin since I bought them. And I recently got a bunch of hands I could only get in white and then I color matched them. The biggest isssue with hybridizing is neck hole size though. I certainly wish IH sold separate bodies though. They are so pretty on the eyes...

    55. No packages today in spite of all day the tracking saying "expected delivery by end of day Monday the 20th". I will assume in a day or two once I've stopped eyeing the tracking ever chance I get the boys will just show up on me. My Kali has yet to board a flight, but based on the boys bet she will soon.

    56. That might be it.
I have learned about new people in the the hobby via IG and FB pages and comments.

@Dunpeald You're very welcome^^ Like @Sianserais mentions above, it does sadly seem like many people have moved to Insta/FB when it comes to sharing dolls- but thankfully there are also still people here on DOA that dig indie doll artists and that share photos of their dolls from smaller companies^^[/QUOTE]

Will share mine (given I will manage to order as there are only six of us and artist is totally new)

    57. I keep catching myself at the thought that my little Bichun is only two payments away (+ production + restrictions).

But, to think of him as just two payments away, it's a little exciting. :whee:

Also, I think the character choice is settling in. The more I look at other people's Bichuns, the more he fits. Which is making the wait to see him in person all the more tantalising.
