Hello! New to posting in this thread. Does anyone have any suggestions on improving posing for the JID girls? I wish the leg string went all the way through the body, as it would be a lot easier to wire. >__< My girl has a hard time sitting up(as does my nYID girl; same exact issue). They also both have issues holding their arms up for poses. I hate it, but I love them, so I deal. xD I’d post a picture of my very special Tania, but I’m on my phone, so that makes it difficult. I’ll have to do that when I’m on my computer. Thanks for any advice!
@YukiOokami - I know exactly what you mean. The girl's legs just dangle there. Whenever I bought a new JID girl - I'd get them all blank - my friend who does my faces, would drill the doll's upper torso so it could be strung the traditional way with the elastic from the legs going right up to the head - Drilling a JID Lady Body
Hello, JID Discussion. The last time I was here the previous thread was active. No new thread since 2017, wow? Here is Katia Nicole. My 2010 NS Tania. I can't believe she's 11 now. (please excuse the cardboard, best light today is in the kitchen and you guys don't need to see all that... )
@Aralien Katia Nicole is beautiful and it's lovely that she's been with you for such a long time. Here's my one and only JID - Benny, whose name is Kate
@mikki Thank you. Yes, the Noctarcana Circus stole my heart a very long time ago. Oh my. Your Kate is beautiful herself. Her sculpt looks so different with that skin tone.
@Aralien I used to have Tatiana, full set with the trapeze but sadly I sold her to a friend years ago. Awh, thank you so much, I do love her. I agree, she looks very different in NS doesn't she.
@Aralien I love seeing photos of JID Tania, and yours is so beautiful! Also, that faceup is so very first decade of 2000s I think it just stole my heart. Mine is from 2013, so not far off (yet very yellowed already)
Leona got a great surprise!! Owen looks as if he's not sure whether he should be proud or bewildered or scared of her reaction to the scene. Great photo and I think he's quasi in the dog house for this.
@nancy_schroeder_ca - I sure did. @mikki - Thanks! @oriscany - LOL She sure is in for a surprise! She may NEVER let him cook again.
Are the new JID girls a little more slender than the older more mature ones? I just got a new JID dress from Iplehouse and it seems really too tight on my older girls.
I have no idea since I don't buy Iplehouse clothes for my JIDs. But I do have some Iplehouse outfits for my BIDs and FIDs and they are all extremely tight. Especially the pants.
I think Iplehouse clothes tend to be pretty tight. I bought three different outfits for the past 8 years and all seem to fit just as tight.
After all the work making dinner recently, Owen decided to go the easy route this time......and get something for everyone....
Lol, he sure did make the rounds to all the fast food places. I love him. Long time no see, @TomB. That's a pretty dress, and it does look nice on Violet.
Hello, it's been a while. I finally found a decent pair of shoes for Henry. He needs a new shirt and maybe a coat of sorts so we can go out.
They are old shoes from Soom. I bought them years ago from Neo Angelregion (which is under Soom label). I haven't ordered many new shoes that fit him yet and basicly that's been the biggest problem with him so far.
I never realised how handsome his sculpt is! I'm saving for a JID girl at the moment after being out of the hobby for a while and you've just made me want to add him to my (fast-growing) wishlist too...
Thank you, and he has a basic face up by Iplehouse. I really like his look, he is mature and handsome. Works well with my slim mini dolls. Glad to help in your JID journey. I've added Jud in my list and I've been eyeing the girls too... I might want a Cordelia so I need to look more photos of her too...
Yeah he has such a good, mature look. It's a Cordelia I'm saving for! She's so pretty, I feel like she's a bit underrated tbh.
@xaya - Your Henry looks great. I find Owen if the most mature looking of all the JID guys, and I have two of him.... I have plenty of other ladies who would love a partner, but I draw the line at 2 Owens.
I absolutely am thrilled each time I see your Owens @MB Lilac They are very handsome and I really like both so much. I decided Henry will need darker look so I sewed him sort of skinny jeans and grey college shirt, but I'm aiming a layered look for him too so I'll need to think what type of clothes to sew him next. Pardon my phone photos like usual, seems like I just don't take the real camera out these days.
Very handsome @xaya ! Does anyone have JID Dave? It appears to me that he could appear older with the right makeup. I've been curious to see an "owner" pic of him, but so far have not.
Does anyone have volks msd saddle doll stand? Can it support a JID Boy? I wanna buy one but little afraid my boy can't stand on it. Thx
The Volks stands ought to work for JID but it isn't that difficult to make your own. See my little tutorial here... http://www.photosbytom.net/PDF/DIY-Stand.pdf
Thanks. I used to be afraid of the sun, but ever since my husband built that plexiglass window unit, I like to push my set into the bay window and let the sun shine in. Of course my dolls never stay there very long....but it makes for some wonderful lighting.
No. I set up all my scenes on my dining room table. Then if I'm using the window unit as part of the set, I'll push the table right into the bay window to take advantage of the natural light. The window faces west and I do most of my photography in the morning or early afternoon since I prefer not to deal with the sun coming in, as the light contrast can be way too harsh, but sometimes if it's hazy sun I'll take advantage of it for some mood shots. This is a set from a total different story, but you can see my set-up.... I take photos of each empty room, print them out and file them so I know exactly how to set up a room again if I should need it.
@MB Lilac I love your behind the scenes shots and all your pictures of things in progress. Your entire setups and projects are so detailed and elaborate that it's almost too much to grasp all in one go and it just reads like magic. Being allowed to see things taken out of that completed context demystifies it and yet the magic doesn't go away because of it. If anything, it just makes it even more impressive. You are a true master of what you are doing.
This is absolutely stunning and inspiring. Thank you so much for showing me! I'm sure you get asked a lot.
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has a doll with one of the new JID girl bodies? I’ve just ordered Amy (NS skin tone IH face-up A, new type body, small bust) and I’d like to get her shoes/boots. I know her foot length is 5.5cm long but what is the width? Could somebody out there measure their dolls foot for me, please? Ta, muchly (as they say round here)
My new Cordelia. This doll is gorgeous and a dream to pose. Also my first 1/4 size. Was never much for the small child look of MSD, but I do like the 1/4 size; especially with resin because she is so much lighter than my 60cm girls.
Hello, I have a question about the Iplehouse JID boy body. Is it as robust/thick as it says it is online? I've been looking for a body that's fairly hefty. It looks like this one should be the closest to what I want, but sometimes the "official" measurements are, for whatever reason, slightly off. If anyone has any Volks dolls, how does the thickness compare?
I have no Volks, but I do have a JID muscle type. He is easily my largest doll in that scale. His upper body, especcially. His hips are large-ish as well but the way he is proportioned makes his butt and hip area look smaller than it really is. He can't share pants with any of my other dolls that general size. I could take detailed measurements if you need them, just let me know what you need. Would comparison photos with other male 1/4 dolls help? Edit to add images: Spoiler: Side view These are (left to right) Doll Family-H, Dollzone (let me know if you ned me to hunt down the exact one, I can't remember the numbers in my head), Iplehouse JID and Doll Leaves Teenage Dream (old, shorter version).
@Lillith Thank you! I would like a full height, shoulder width, head height (from chin to crown) and head circumference, when you have the time. I really appreciate it! The picture is very helpful, that gives me a much better idea of how he compares to other 1/4 size dolls.
No problem. Full height (with head, no wig): 45cm Shoulder width socket to socket: 7,3cm front and 8cm back. Full shoulder width: 12cm My doll has the Boris head, I don't know how close the different heads are. Head height: aprox. 6,5-7,5cm depending on angle. Head circumference: 18,5cm
Sliding in here to 2nd the drilling. I did that to my JID girl a few years back and have no regrets. Her ankles are still weak, but she poses so much better. IMG_0266 by hellsing365, on Flickr Pics of my Tania
I've had most of my JID girls drilled, so they could be strung the traditional way, and it is much better.
Out of general curiousity, when did Iplehouse start using the leg-to-leg stringing configuration? I have two older JID and both of them have the ordinary leg-head-leg configuration. (They still are very poor posers, though) I thought it was a fairly recent thing, but I see that Hellsing365's Tania has the old hands, so I must have goten my timeline tangled.
I think it was when they reworked the girl's body and got rid of those old butt flaps. They didn't change the hands yet at that time, since I have several JID ladies with the new (worse) body configuration, but still with the original hands. They didn't change the stringing configuration when they came out with the new JID guy body. In fact I believe they still offer the old original with the butt flaps as the 'Muscle' option. I have one guy with that original body and find that it poses really poorly. The 'newer' Model body poses much better.
That sounds right. Both of mine has the butt flaps, the female originally had the old hands (I bought her a pair of the newer ones a few years back) and the male has the new ones. The male is a couple of years younger than the female, but they are both pretty old dolls by now.
My Tania's from 2012 so quite old. No buttflaps. I don't have the hook in her torso in use, so she's just the one string down each leg with a total bypass of the leg joint mechanism. It's a little funky sometimes, I might try the way above, with the same string in both legs. I just can't stand the ankles. Who in their right minds thought that solid ankles made any sense? If anyone was wondering, don't spend your money on the new JID body feet in hopes that it'll fit the old JID body legs. I did that. Iple says it's around $170 to buy leg parts for the doll. I'm glad to read there's a lot of us JID owners with modified dolls. I don't see it mentioned too often.
