It’s late summer 1970 and, in a small town in the north west of England, Frankie and her daughter Ariel are moving into a rented flat, with the help of her good friend Marianne. Frankie: Well, this is it! It's actually worse than I remembered from the viewing. Marianne: Don't worry, we'll get it cleaned up in no time and it'll look great! Marianne: I'm a dab hand with a screwdriver so I'll soon sort this out. Frankie: I think my first job is this cooker - ugh! Ariel: The lady has no knickers on! Did she forget Mummy? Frankie: Yes, I think we'll tidy her away later. Marianne: I'd better head off soon, I promised Mum I'd collect Matthew from Scouts. Marianne: Bye Sweetie, see you soon. Be a good helper for Mummy. Frankie: Thanks for everything Marianne, you’re a good friend. Frankie: Well Ari, it’s just you and me now. What’s that noise…? Ariel: POST! Ariel: What does it say Mummy? Frankie: It says A New Beginning. Huge thanks to Scarlett Empress, my technical advisor, mentor and friend Next Episode: /threads/ton...eds-good-neighbours-ih-cocori-ds-hound.750907
This is just incredibly wonderful. The authentic 70s vibe, with all the little iconic doll sized props, that's just like a time machine. And that authentic 'dingy old flat' feeling makes me want to break out my cleaning gear at once^^ These two ladies are so seldomly seen today, Byul and Cocori - what a pleasure! Their charm and beauty has not aged a day. Thanks for sharing this!
@animemom Hi animemom! Thank you very much! Episode 2 coming very soon! @Mandagore Thank you so much for your lovely comments Mandagore, you really made my day! I laughed at you wanting to get in and clean that flat!
I love all the props and gear in the right size for your BJDs! That's wonderfully done, so lovely and cute and realistic. I can almost hear Janis singing in the background.
@Ophiaca HaHa, I love that thought Ophiaca, thank you so much for your lovely comments. @stormi Thank you stormi, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I made the record player, gas fire and sofa out of cardboard boxes and fabric. The kitchen cupboards are by a company called Casdon who make great realistic appliances. I searched on ebay for ages to find some of their earliest examples to suit this era. @siar Thanks very much siar, I'm happy you liked it.
So happy to see your wonderful stories posted here! I love this opening episode - the set and props are wonderful and I love all those 70s details. The friendship between the girls is just lovely and I am looking forward to seeing what unfolds!
Good shots, beautiful props and cute little Ari, I'm totally in love with her Looking forward to more chapters ^^
@Tsukasa Thank you so much, there's more to come! @Scarlett Empress Thank you S, and you know you are my inspiration! @Luccu Thanks for your kind words! Ari is a Custom House Ange Ai Gaby, she is a little sweetheart, isn't she. I've just posted Episode 3 and there'll be more next weekend!
I'm so thrilled to see an Iplehouse Cocori! Your sets are marvelous, very 70's. The details and scale are perfect! I love "slice of life" stories like this. Very personable and charming.
OMG! I love the whole 70s vibe of the apartment and all the props and details! Even the clothes look 70s! You've done a wonderful job here! Totally love this!
Thank you very much @chrstphrl I'm glad you enjoyed it. There's a link to Episode 2, under the last photo.

I moved into a furnished flat in Scotland in the 70’s... This story is so right on! If this were a book, I’d buy it! I love the characters and all the props. I love the way you got the details right, like aiming their eyes properly when they look at each other. And I swear their face expressions change to match what they are saying! Thank you for sharing! Your story is why I got into the hobby... BJD’s are so great to work into stories like this. I’m off to see part 2... and I can’t wait for more. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow! Your story is so great! And I love the faces of your dolls - they really have such delicate features. Are they Bimong's?
