I’m 35, I was first interested in the hobby at 19, and I was finally able to save up and get my first doll at 25! It’s kind of odd to think about how my first doll is 11 now, and as old as some of the kids who have been introduced into the hobby!!
I turn 20 next month. I've been into dolls for my whole life, and interested in BJDs for quite a few years, but I never owned BJDs until a couple (or maybe a few?) years ago.
I'm 32 at the moment. I liked bjd since I was 18 (Volks, Luts, D.O.D) and i bought my first BJD at 30 y.o.
I am 24 and I bought my first BJD when I was 16. My story is similar to mysticdelights. I was 'born' into the doll collecting hobby and got into BJDs specifically a few years before I could actually own one.
I’m 16, and I got my first (and so far only) bjd a year ago. It can be really hard to save up money for dolls, considering I don’t have a job! I’ve found it really hard to find other hobbyists my age so far.
27, birthday in July. I've been idly interested in BJDs since I was a teenager, but they weren't attainable until recently. I was a doll destroyer as a child (Barbies lost their heads, I've heard) and had no interest in dolls until I saw BJD construction, either. Something about the jointing and size just makes me happy.
Just doing my part to push the bell curve a bit further... I'm freshly 37, and got my first resin bjd this year. I technically started collecting "nicer" dolls at about 16-17, but it's been a long road to bjd land.
16! I got my first bjd at 15 and am working on getting more. My collection started with figmas basically. I loved posing them but i hated not being able to change their clothes or hair. mainstream dolls were to annoying with their limited posability and cheap facepaint. When i found bjd's it opened my eyes to the perfect irl customizable character.
I first got interested in collecting BJDs when I was maybe fourteen or fifteen, I’m 19 now and my 20th birthday is in less than a month!
22. I bought my first doll as a birthday/Christmas present for myself. I am waiting for him to arrive.
I’m 25 and will be 26 come February! April will mark my 1st anniversary of getting my first doll! Also looking forward to attending Project: A-Kon 30 in June
Wow! It’s so crazy to hear how old everyone is, or maybe I’m just young. I’m 16 and became interested in the hobby 3 years ago
i'm 19! i've been known of bjds for awhile, but i only really started to immerse myself into the hobby after i just turned 18. it's amazing to see how this hobby can attract so many different ages!
I was born the same year that the following bangers topped the charts: We Built This City - Starship Like A Virgin - Madonna Don't You (ba-dum-ba-da-bum-dum) Forget About Me - Simple Minds Saving All My Love - Whitney Houston AND THIS TIMELESS GEM!
I’m 22 and I’ve been collecting since I was 16. I’m super thankful that there’s a somewhat active dolly community in my area and I can usually meet other collectors at local cosplay conventions.
My back keeps reminding me that I’m 42, but my brain somehow believes that I haven’t made it past 12 yet. Most of my family would agree that I’m stuck at 12 as well. 15 more years and I hope to be a 12 year old with a nice pension...
I'm 18 and 19 this year ! I'm so excited and saving up for my very first doll !! I discovered this hobby through a kind of similar hobby ? I discovered faceups and customizing dolls through monster high dolls and then it just kind of moved on~ now I really want to work on bjds~ Sadly I don't know any doll collectors near me either .. But oh well ! It's still fun !
Reading through thank goodness I noticed a few my age I am 56 never played with dolls as a child but really love collectable dolls This year for the first time after many years admiring BJD I have been in the position to get my first I have three so far and find I like the Fairyland Pukifee size most
I'm 33 and have been given a new lease on life by having something to fill my time with - sewing is a daunting but exciting challenge, practising faceups is very enjoyable and I love learning about fashion and styling. Especially when dolls have such good figures, it's fun to window shop cool clothes.
I'm almost 21 and I've been super interested in BJDs since I was 11-12 years old! I'm hoping that now I can own my first BJD soon! I always thought that I should wait until I was older to own my first BJD so I'm super ready to get my own baby!
I'm 29! I think many people are around 20-40 years because they are young enough to be involved in character creation and fantasy, and also old enough to have jobs and have money for this kind of "nonsense" (normie speech, both for fantasy, original characters and collecting "toys").
I'm 30! I started collecting about six years ago, but I've been a fan since my teens when I first saw them!
