Fantasia Doll Elder/Senior Sizes

Mar 15, 2016

    1. Received my girl today! I only had a chance to give her a quick look over before I went back to work, but appears all in order. Must say I'm disappointed in the body, The head is much bigger than I normally like in proportion to the body, and I ordered the 63 S. I almost wonder if they sent me the Luna body but so far I haven't seen any paperwork or COA in the box. The head is lovely but I'm already trying to decide if I should sell her on or try and sell her body and find a better fit :/

    2. The Vivian sculpt.
I need to get a better look at her, but I'm also regretting asking them to string her because they strung her way too tight, I think if I tried to put her head on it would crack her pelvis. I wondered why they shipped it with her head unattached and I'm pretty sure its cause they couldn't get it on. I don't have all my usual restringing tools with me either.

    3. I wish I could post my pics on forums but since I have no camera or laptop or cloud storage services, every time I upload a photo here, I need to take it with my phone, email it to myself, go open it on my old table computer as my phone doesn't have the imgur app, and upload it to imgur from my email on computer and then link it to DoA. Instagram is so much easier so I don't sadly think I have the energy to upload the new girl here. I will try to shoot a review youtube video today and link it here too, if my man has the time to hold the phone for me!

    4. If it helps with that at all I use tumblr to upload pics and then post them here. I don't need to pay anything for it and the posts stay indefinitely. If you don't bother to add hashtags or the like no one will see the tumblr post if you don't want them too.

    5. So I think my Jupiter arrived. I live in an apartment and use a P O box because of that. I'll have to wait till Saturday to pick it up but the package came from Korea and tracking shows it was put into the post on Feb 19th as was promised in the last email.
I'll post pics of him, I got the Mars body which I'm reasonably sure they sent, but cross fingers the I indeed got the Sleepy Jupiter head I asked for.

    6. Hallo is there anybody with Supia and newFantasiaDoll female body for comparison photo??? Thank you very much.

    7. Those of you who got one body and two heads, did you get one or two CoAs? I got two with my two heads, but another person I heard only got one with her two heads, so I wonder, was the another CoA meant for my extra Isaac head at all after all? Because I did write to Fantasia about getting a CoA for my old Vivian and asked them to send it with my order. Until now I assumed they did not send it because I got two heads and two certificates, but my friend's experience got me thinking if the CoA was meant for Vivi after all and who should I now keep it for.

I would ask Fantasia how did they mean it, but... well, they do not respond to much now. I had to open a PayPal claim about the wrong head for a partial refund (or delivery of the correct head if they can do that before my PayPal claim expires) today since they did not respond to my email I sent last Monday after getting the wrong head, and i do not want to run out of my buyer's protection. I feel bad doing it knowing my order probably makes them very little profit overall because of the shipping fee increase, and I don't want to burn any bridges, but seeing folk still wait for heads from almost 4 years ago... I don't want to end up there, just to be sure.

    8. I got a CoA with my order, even got the correct head! Only issue is the certificate is Korean so I have no clue if it's actually listing my Jupiter's authencity.

Here's my boy, his name is Mamoset.

I'm going to make a full unboxing thread layer with all my thoughts on his construction but right now I'm rather happy. He looks gangly and thin with his head being so big but it works for his overall character.

    9. @PennyForTheGuy if it helps, I can say the both texts on my CoAs look the same although they are supposedly for different sculpts. Both have the same pictures, too. I would sure love to know what it reads!

    10. I guess I'll just write on it somewhere what head and body came with it. Unless that would ruin the CoA.

    11. I got my girls in yesterday, the weird thing is I seem to have 3 COAs but only 2 heads and one body. Seeing as how they don’t seem to specify what goes to what I figured maybe one for the body? But now I’m thinking they just threw some cards in without it really meaning anything?

      • x 2
    12. @PennyForTheGuy - Oh congratulations! Nice to see photos. I can't wait to see him with a faceup!

    13. Thank you. Here he is with his imposing wife Ashera. Boy you can see how much bigger the new heads are.

    14. My doll arrived and she’s so pretty! I’ll post more details later after I’ve had time to string her but I’m really pleased so far.

As far as the COAs, mine also came with two. Maybe one is for the head and one for the body?

    15. @PennyForTheGuy @vauhtikatti

With the Google lens app you can hold your phone over anything with writing and it can translate through the camera. The front of the card roughly says

    16. I only got one coa and i ordered 2 heads and a body

    17. Okay, thanks! Then I will likely not pair the extra CoA with my Isaac head but put it to my old Vivian's box. I believe they sent it for her!

    18. I'm honestly really, really bummed that the size and proportion changes are so drastic. :sighI've wanted a Fantasia Doll ever since I first saw one, but they were out of business by the time I discovered them. Now they're back, and I don't want them because the realistic proportions, and apparently the posability, that I liked so much have been abandoned. It's kind of deal-breaker for me.

However, I still love the faces, and I might be willing to get the heads alone if I can find a different body that will fit well, so they don't look like bobble-heads. To that end, can any of the peeps who got their new dolls tell me what the head and neck-hole circumferences are? For both male and female?

    19. I escalated my claim to PayPal since it is now been almost two weeks that I got the doll and they have not reacted to the fact that I got a wrong head in any way. I feel frustrated, because I cannot do anything with the doll because I don't know if they want the wrong head sent back. It's unlikely because the shipping fee is high, but it's not impossible. I don't want this wrong head but I'm forced to keep it here, and I cannot even practice faceups on it because I need to keep it in mint condition until this issue is resolved. And PayPal can take up to 30 days to resolve my dispute apparently (sigh).

I love their dolls but think I'm done as far as ordering from Fantasia is concerned. The dolls are nice, but I would hope a lot better communication.

    20. vauhtikatti sorry to read/hear this. I understand that lacking of communication is part of issue with this company. Because changing/down-sizing body, missing CoAs and so on ... in one moment there is more frustration than joy. I also decide to change the planned body for my head in favor of Supia. I need a higher body about 65 cm and if "new" Fantasia is so close to SID as your photos say, I have to turn elsewhere. but I'm looking forward to your photos or review

    21. Well, She's not SID size, she's a whole lot slimmer, but she is definitely the height. Any difference is mostly due to that huge head. Sadly, I have more bodies than heads, so she'll have to occupy this body until I clear things out with Fantasia and can decide on her fate (I was always like this, not the floating head type). This is the nSID body so it's a bit taller than the original - very little, though.

I've been a bit bad at posting, definitely. I've not had much enthusiasm or time to touch her at all, only dressed her quickly a couple of times. She's so slim compared to my others that I had to buy whole new outfits for the poor lady, everything that fits her thickness-wise is 2cm too short on sleeves and ankles.

    22. @vauhtikatti - Thanks for posting a photo! I've been so wondering how the new smaller body would look with a larger head. From the looks of this photo...I'd wish that if they were going with the smaller body...they would keep the smaller head.

      Odd choices.

I have to say I'm more fond of the original combination of head and body. I don't particularly care for the new sculp's legs. (But maybe they look better in jeans.):)

But maybe once dressed and faceuped and wigged...the whole new package won't look so bobble-headed.

    23. vauhtikatti thanks for photo and luluna I am voting for old body, too. My head is Mary from OwlsMoor and she is definitely not for this new Fantasia body, which is petite and slim. This kind of body may look very "kawai" in fluttering fine silk in asian style but as a fan of old realistic-looking muscle female body, I'm out of temptation.

    24. @susana789 - Well I'm coming from where my dolly collection is...which is in EID, SID, HID Iplehouse sized dolls...so the older body fits in with them...better....

But I can totally see for those who have the Volks girls SD17? Where the new body may fit in better.:)

    25. Oh wow. The new bodies are a shadow of what they were. The heads though... And they are shipping. That's a definite bonus. I'm still going to wait a bit before I order my Alice head. Just to make sure that they will keep shipping...

    26. I just tested my Venus body with some clothing, and with a long sleeved shirt I cannot get the elbows to bend at all. It's next to impossible to pull and engage the 2nd joints when she has fabric covering them, and the 1st joint does not bend either. So with a long sleeved shirt her arms are just straight. I was thinking about wiring, but I might not dare do it as her elbow joints have these tube-shaped parts inside the upper arm and they look rather fragile. I'm afraid they'd crack if there was a constantly bending wire going through them. So I guess she'll only wear short sleeves. Well, all sleeves were short on her anyway :wiggle

I also measured her the other day (Venus M body) and the bust is 26,8 cm, waist 17,1 cm and hips 27,7 cm. So the bust is bigger than Fantasia site says. According to her measurements she should indeed fit SD16 clothes (27,5 - 17 - 26,5cm according to DoA database) pretty well. I have some SD16 size dress sets on order from Taobao, I'll show how they look on her, but it may take a few months because I ordered 40-something things and asked my agent to ship all at once.

I have some SD13 clothes and they do not fit so good. SD13 girls' waist-to-bust measurement is shorter than Fantasia and their waist is bigger, making all of the clothing sets on Fantasia look a bit like maternity dresses and leaving the sleeves short. SD16 seems about the same height as Venus body so I hope there's not that problem!

    27. @vauhtikatti - SD16! That's what I meant above. (I have a SD17 boy...so that's where my mind went.)

I look forward to seeing her all put together and dressed up.:)

    28. I hope I can find a head to put her together! I won't have the Alice on it as I have a strict one-per-sculpt rule on doll heads, and I happened to already have an old Alice. I haven't got too high hopes that Fantasia ever ships the correct head either, but we'll see. The old Fantasia heads work great on the body (I should put up a picture of that too, I took some of my Canary!) but I do not currently have any extras and they can be hard to come by. I have her a character and all, just need to decide on a head I want.

    29. What sizes are the new boy heads? I'm thinking about hybriding a Dollshe 28M head on the muscular boy body with the hope that the Dollshe head is smaller and thus would decrease the bobbleheaded look.

    30. @sno4wy my Isaac is 23 cm exactly. I snapped some fast comparisons with my Dollshe 28m Rey Lewis. With that hybrid you may have the neck gapping as Dollshe have bigger necks (I included a shot of their neck holes for you). Sadly I only purchased a head so I haven't got the Fantasia male body.

    31. @sno4wy I have a 28M King Corey and the male Fantasia body (Jupiter), along with a Jin head. The neck certainly would have gapping, as it's a 10.5 cm circumference. I'll be doing some running shortly, but if you're interested in getting some comparison photos of a 28M on the Fantasia Jupiter body, I can try to snap some quick ones later tonight or tomorrow morning:kitty2.

    32. I took some photos and added them to instagram: Login • Instagram

      I got the Vivian head and the Venus Girl M body. I think the head looks more proportional in real life compared to photos, but that may be because I don’t have a wig on her yet. Her head fits pretty snugly on her neck. Not sure if the body/head combination I got is different or if I just don’t have as much experience with bjds as other people. ^_^;

I received a set of the open and closed hands since I got her shipped unstrung. I also got heel feet, which I didn’t include a photo of but I’m happy to share if anyone is interested.

What else? She sits up on her own really easily. She can also stand on her own, but seems a bit unstable. I’d be nervous to leave her like that unattended.

The resin is wayyyyy paler than I expected but it also has a nice blush to it so I’m happy with it. Just means changing around a few of my plans for her outfit!

I think that covers most of the things I wanted to say? I’m also happy to answer questions and provide measurements or more photos if anyone wants them!

    33. That would be fantastic, thank you! :D

    34. Thank you so much for the head comparison photos! That is really telling about the neck holes, as well as the head sizes.

    35. I got my refund from PayPal because apparently Fantasia didn't respond to them either. PP refunded me the full value of doll plus shipping although I only demanded for a partial refund. Well, I hope this doesn't get Fantasia mad at me, after all I did not demand such a big refund. They had 3 weeks to respond to me or refund the value of the head only and they didn't. :sweat I'm not going to wait any longer with a blank doll in my hands in case they decide they want it back, because all they've been is passive (also, for a full doll it's 120 usd shipping which I will not cover, so unlikely they want it shipped back). In case they did, they should have said it earlier.

Now, after this is solved, I can finally (try to) enjoy my girl, or body thereof, and stop wondering if I ever get the correct head from Fantasia. Seems, no. But I'm good with that, there'll be nice heads and I'm not in a hurry!

    36. Just my two cents, I can understand you being frustrated about their lack of not doing anything. But I also feel that you did get at least part of the order that you were okay with, so perhaps some money should be attributed back to them. Just because paypal gave you the whole refund doesn't make it morally right since even yourself thought only partial refund was the correct way to go. But I'll leave it up to your conscience to decide what to do with that. Maybe I'm mistaken and others feel different, but I feel that it's one thing to have a manufacture tell you to keep it for your trouble and another for a third party to decide that one party should get nothing for their work, and their effort.

    37. Except with Paypal when we sign up we all agree with their ToS, which includes allowing Paypal to arbitrate for us when a problem arises, and to go with whatever their decision ends up being. As @vauhtikatti mentioned Fantasia had three weeks to reply back to/through Paypal. It appears that they did not do so. As such, as I see it that is not on @vauhtikatti. They did what they had a right to do, and if Fantasia had wanted to make things right, then they should have done what they had a right to do. They did not, so PayPal rightfully made the decision for them, because that is one of the rules we all agreed to when we signed up to use their site. I don't think a buyer should have to go out of their way if a company can't even be bothered to meet them halfway. @vauhtikatti abided by the rules, I don't see anything morally wrong here. :)

    38. I have to say I would be more on Fantasia dolls side is they hadn’t pulled the same thing a few years ago...it just takes a little communication and honestly and we would all be willing to put up with a lot more...I personally would love to order from them again, but having been through the lies and lack of communication twice now, I won’t. and I totally understand if someone gets more of a refund for a problem they asked to solve fairly through PayPal, it’s more than fair. They had weeks to respond and technology they had months to make the order right, if PayPal sides with the buyer here I get it. It’s sad as I loved their dolls but I get it.

    39. @Cloudedmind and @djgigahertz

You both raised some absolutely great points. Thank you for sharing your views.

I do understand Paypal has rules we should all abide by when we sign up, but we also know some people will disregards them , as we see here on this board when sellers ask the buyers to pay for their seller fees, contrary to what Paypal rules are, that state they are not suppose to do so. I don't think @vauhtikatti did anything she shouldn't during the process. . She did everything absolutely right to try to work out a situation that wasn't correct for they had sent her the wrong head. She communicated with the seller to resolve the problem, they ignored her. Fantasia, should really communicate with their clients. It's bad form and bad business not to do so. She filed for partial refund for the wrong head. And the winfall was she got the whole money back by a neutral party who had no monetary stake in this.

I guess I put myself in their (seller ) shoes. If you were the seller, and this situation happened to you, and for what ever reason you didn't communicate, would you be as hung ho to shrug it off, when the buyer not only ends up with the doll but all the money as well? Would it be easy to then say, I'm okay with that. Let's be honest. I think most of us, would not consider that to be fair at all.

That's all I was trying to get across. A different point of view.

      • x 4
    40. They indicated they were fine with it by not saying anything, when they had plenty of time to do so. I would hope that if you were to sell something you wouldn't completely abandon your customer in a situation like this. ;) I don't see the value in supporting this kind of behavior from companies (they're not JUST an artist; they are exchanging goods for currency).

The artist WAS supported by the attempt to work with them, and by giving them all opportunity through the appropriate channels to resolve the matter. :thumbup

      • x 5

    41. Thank you for your response. And no I would never leave a customer or client hanging like that. I agree that they were wrong in ignoring this situation and they got nailed by that. :3nodding:

    42. I got an email answer from Fantasia doll/ Uidoll today. They apologized for the delay in replying and said they had been hospitalized for a month :(

    43. Is anyone still waiting on an order?

    44. That's so sad about them being hospitalized. :( I seem to recall something in the past about them having health issues and with those being part of the reason why they had to closed down. Does anyone else remember that, or am I maybe thinking of the wrong company?

    45. Thanks for the update, @windspiel . I'm still waiting on an order, and he hadn't responded to emails. I was wondering if something had happened! @sno4wy you're remembering right, he had a heart attack a couple of years ago.

    46. no problem, my friend and I are still waiting on orders as well but we ordered in the beginning of November.

    47. Hey, thought you might wanna know this since most of you will probably paint your dolls. I have my friend's permission to post on this.

I gave my new Alice to a non-DoA friend a while back because the doll was not the one I ordered, and she tried doing it a faceup today. She had to remove it in the process because of a painting mistake, and the head went all shiny and soft. Like, she could gently press it on her nail and it left a clear mark. When she held the head, her fingerprint got pressed on it. And the shine is also like a surface of gloss was applied and doesn't come off in any way. My friend has done faceups for 10+ years, she uses completely safe materials (MSC to seal and isopropyl alcohol to remove the faceup, and only oil-free materials) and never came across this on any doll from tens of companies. She thinks the doll may partially be something else than proper resin. She also said it seemed to be coated with something that came off when she wiped it with the alcohol.

She hopes that the head sets back to its original hardness when it is left alone for a while, and that there is some way to restore the marks left on the resin from simply holding the head. She is going to try boiling it to see if it resets the original form.

Did any of you have this kind of experience, if you have already had the time to paint/wipe your new 2021 dolls? I know there was nothing like this on the 2017 batch. Anyways, I recommend you to be very careful when cleaning these new dolls with alcohol, so you do not accidentally damage the doll! And if you do not have this kind of effect upon removal of makeup, please tell what brand/type of cleaning medium you used, maybe there is a safe option.

    48. @vauhtikatti

Be careful with boiling the doll. I dyed mine and in the process it must go into boiling water. All resin softens a bit in heat (which is how people bend fingers) but this resin softened similarly to how you describe in heat such that I could compress the head by almost a centimeter. I became concerned that as the resin hardened with cooling, it would hardened deformed slightly and the pieces wouldn’t fit together anymore so I cooled it assembled as much as possible but unstrung (head cap on, double joints within calves, thigh pieces, forearms, and upper arms, etc.)

The only plastic I’ve had become this soft when boiling is Pullip ABS. Hujoo ABS is not even as soft with heat

      • x 3
    49. @americanseamstress She will. But I guess the head is not useable to her at this point if she cannot fix it, so boiling likely won't make the situation worse. The doll has a hole on the forehead, I saw a picture, because it touched something on her table while she was cleaning it (in a way that should not have caused a hole in the head's normal state, the doll is like wax at the moment). So in any case it will have visible defects, a hole can maybe be filled but it is hard to hide fingerprints that are pressed on the resin, unless sanding it :sweat

      • x 1
    50. That's really strange. I decided to do some of my own spot testing on the inner head cap with isopropyl alcohol and Windsor & Newton after reading through this, and neither seemed to soften the resin, or leave indents or fingerprints when I pressed against it. @vauhtikatti did your friend spot-clean the head (use cotton balls or something similar soaked in isopropyl), or did she soak it in the isopropyl? I've done faceup removals on Pullips with Isopropyl without issues when using cotton balls to clean them off. Also, I'm not sure if this matters, but what resin color was the Alice head in question?

Resin can be particular if soaked for more than a few minutes in most cleaning solutions like isopropyl. I had some resin deterioration with an OT head (Resinsoul) when I tried soaking it for longer than that.

    51. @jade-eyed-cat no, she did not exactly soak it, just wiped it, though for a pretty long amount of time, a total of 15 minutes. She did it for so long because the head started shining like it was glossed, and she thought it still had sealant.

Okay, since I got doubty if it was the long time, I decided to sacrifice my body. I wiped with the usual stuff I use for faceup removal for 4 years now, and only gently wiped her elbow joint for less than a minute. I use a different remover than my fiend, it's an oil-free acetone free fake nail cleaner that is safe for resin. The resin immediately got very shiny marbling that did not even come off with soap or miracle sponge. It doesn't show very well in pictures, but it is very shiny, before it was completely matte. It seems some places in her body do not have this happen, because I also tested in her hip socket first and nothing happened. This body never had sealant and was only handled once or twice, too.

    52. That is strange. Usually I do cycles while doing faceup wipes—a few minutes with the isopropyl, followed by a cleaning with dishwashing detergent. It helps to keep the isopropyl from sitting on the resin too long and gets rid of excess loosened sealant. Hopefully doing cycling like this will help prevent again resin melt.

Any idea if applying a sealant would help matte it out again, or does the shiny patch seep through the sealant? Also, does the resin counteract with the sealant in any way when it's applied—especially after it becomes shiny? I'm really hoping I won't have to shop around for yet another sculpt for the OC Jin was supposed to be for. I really like his facial features—

    53. @jade-eyed-cat I didn't try sealing the elbow (and I don't use MSC but Army Painter which is not so common, so not sure how much it would help most peeps), but I'll tell what we find out, if my friend decides to re-seal the head. Probably she'll try to fix it first.

//Edit: oh my goodness, I forgot to answer your question earlier. The body and head are both NS.

//Edit 2: My friend waited overnight with the damaged head to seal it. The head had turned back to hard, and interestingly enough, the nail and finger presses on it had disappeared once it turned firm again, but the shine was as strong as ever. If any of you ever saw a blythe that had its facepaint removed, the sine is as strong, it looks as if the head is wet. Magic eraser scrubbing had no effect on the shine. She put a layer of MSC and another of Army Painter, and the shine did reduce, but it does still show through and is not as good as in "before" state.

She sanded the head very lightly so it was matte again, sealed it again with MSC and then did the same treatment as first time (isopropyl alcohol scrubbing). this time the head did not turn shiny or soft. So that seems to work! Might it be the head was indeed coated with something that has a reaction with alcohol? I scrubbed my doll's elbow joint (the other one that I did not make shiny) with a miracle sponge for quite a while, and there was something that did come off, like a layer of dirt except she should not be dirty because I have barely taken her out of the cabinet. The outlines of the spot I had wiped could be seen pretty clearly and the rest of the joint really seems to be covered in something.

    54. Does somebody here owns a Jupiter? I will be very grateful if somebody shares owner pictures :)

    55. I'm hopefully getting a Jupiter head and I have a few different possible bodies to match him with. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which body would work best (assuming one will work in the first place)?

      1. Iplehouse EID body
      2. Ringdoll RGM body 3
      3. Ringdoll RGM body 1
      4. Resinsoul 70cm body

The measurements for the bodies are as follows:

      1) Iplehouse EID:
      Height : 70.5 cm
      Neck mesurement : 12.8 cm
      Shoulder width : 18 cm

      2) Ringdoll RGM body 3:
-Total Height (Head included) : 70.5cm
-Girth of upper neck: 10 cm
-Girth of lower neck: 12 cm
      -Width of shoulder: 15.5 cm

      3) Ringdoll RGM body 1:
I can't find the measurements since it's not being sold by Ringdoll right now but the body is more slender than the RGM body 3 and 72cm. I found this with google but I'm not sure if this is correct:
      Neck measurement: 10.5 cm
      Width of shoulders: 15 cm

      4) Resinsoul 70cm body:
      NECK SIZE 10cm
      SHOULDER WIDTH 13cm
      CHEST 26cm

    56. I can tell you this from testing out my Jin head on the bodies I have, the boy heads are going to look best on at least a 70cm body with 15.5cm shoulders and wider. I don't have the Iple body, but I imagine that it would work based on those factors (although there would be some required modding on either the body's neck or the head to get it to work: 10.5cm for the head where the male EID is close to 2cm wider in circumference). I also can't speak on the Ringdoll RGM-1, but have tested it out on the RGM-3 and the proportions look really good—plus no need to mod either one's neck.

As for the Resinsoul 70cm....I think it's going to depend on preferences really, but the shoulders and body are too narrow for it from my perspective. I could see it working better with the 72cm, with maybe a bit of neck modding (It might work without, as I've had some 10.5cm heads work well on 11cm necks, but it's all going to depend on minute factors and I don't have the 72cm body to compare with).

      I hope that helps :kitty2

    57. That helped so much, thank you! Fortunately I have two of the RGM-3 bodies, one of which is unused since I got the 72cm Ringdoll body to replace it for my tall but less muscular guys. I’ll put him on the 3, then.

    58. I'm just curious, would the Jupiter head work on either the timeless body or the Granado Zen bodies? Still probably going to stick with my Ringdoll boy but I'm curious as I've seen a Venitu/Timeless split in a local group and I've always loved it. A friend is thinking of selling her Zen body and offered me first choice if she decides to sell.
