Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 64

Mar 26, 2019

    1. I'm at 85 working days on my Carol (minus a few days for the lunar new year and May holidays?), but I'm not sure it's going to come anytime soon because of the pandemic situation. AusPost claims that mail from South Korea is moving as normal, but multiple friends and Fairyland have all said that Korea Post is turning EMS back to the sender when it hits outbound customs due to a lack of outbound flights.

On the one hand, I'm trying to be as patient as possible, and on the other hand, I'm shaking a fist at the universe and bad timing/luck.

    2. I've managed to sell a body that I got but it never matched the character it was for, and I fully intend to put it towards getting some things for two of my rather neglected dolly family. One of which is my darling MNF Honoka, Avery-Lennox. She has been wearing my MNF Ryeon's back-up wig and some of her clothes, and unfortunately they do NOT share the same style!

I'm also trying to source something apparently impossible - a wig with a mid to high bun. Apparently this is not something which is common. I'll keep looking, but she may end up in a bob.

    3. My Carol is set to be delivered via UPS on Friday! Oddly enough, I’m still waiting for Denver Doll to receive an order for a Minifee Luka that I made about a week before I placed my Carol order. Kaley at DDE said it shouldn’t be much longer, though, and that it’s taking about 3 weeks for them to receive their Fairyland shipments, at the moment.

    4. My doll has “space buns” which are the two high buns instead of pigtails. I ordered from Amadiz, I’m sure they’d be able to make you what you’re looking for, Etsy is a good place to search as well.

My photos haven’t been showing up when I try to post them on here lately but I’ll give it a try to show off the buns  it’s also not the best quality picture, but again it’s for the buns haha

    7. aw so beautiful!!! I love them both :D

    8. Did anyone order carol on a Moe body? I want to see how she looks with those portions :3nodding:

    9. My Carol came in on Friday. Hoping to work on her faceup sometime this upcoming week, but she’s probably going to be bald for awhile, because the wig I got for her is coming from overseas, and we all know how that is at the moment.

    10. @dxgirly That Carol is going to be amazing! Love the smile.

Here are my minifee girls. Technically, I have another centaur FLAM, but she wasn't going to fit in the picture.

    11. They are so pretty! May I ask what size eyes your flam elf is wearing? I still need to get her some new ones :)

    12. Introducing Isabel and Edith :love They were adopted earlier this month in a bundle. I planned on only keeping the Rens head, but I fell for the SP Eva head - she’s so sweet! They're sisters :)!

Pics taken with my new Nikon D500.

    13. @PinkBear Those two are so pretty together!

@Sheenny In that photo she is wearing size 14 Enchanted Doll eyes

Here she is wearing size 12 (purplish) and beside her is my centaur girl wearing size 14 (turquoise). Most of my dolls wear a size 12. The 12s on her have a tiny gap. It doesn't bother me at all.

      Both face-ups are by Angeltoast.

    14. Hi :) I own a Mirwen ( second hand, bought on the DOA MP) and she's amazing, I love (almost) everything about her. She has a couple of issues I'd like to ask about, sorry if this has been addressed before, but with 64 extensions of this discussion, I didn't look LOL.

      1. Her Head cap will NOT stay on, she was produced prior to the addition of magnets in the head to hold the cap on. I tried gluing some in place, but it didn't work. Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix?

      2. Her locking neck device comes loose and her head falls off...a lot. If I pose her head, the locking thing turns as well and off comes her head...any fix for that?

      3. Speaking of heads, she seems to have limited head positions...is this the norm, she's my first Minifee...this is in addition to her head falling off.

      4. Her Right hand falls off as well, it has a magnet, but the magnet seems like it has no power to it. The left is tight and has to be really pulled on to remove. Has anyone ever replaced a magnet in the wrist? can it be done? Is there another fix?

5 When she arrived she was rather loose limbed and wonky. I restrung her, tightened things up and she's way better, I also sueded her with Moleskin adhesive padding, and that's helped, but She still is a bit awkward to pose. I see others with Minifee's that seem to pose better than mine does. Maybe I should try different sueding?

Any of you Minifee Pro's out there that can help, it will be greatly appreciated.

This girl brings me so much joy, I love creating for her and have been blessed with a new friendship because of our Mirwens.

I am now eyeing a Sircca, LOL, yes, I'm addicted.

    15. @Kimmera we'll do our best to help you! I have sixteen minifees now (yikes!) so I think I've encountered most of these problems! I'll go through one by one and I'm sure others will be able to give you more information than me!

      1. Definitely had this happen! For me most of the time a wig with a silicone cap or a hard based alpaca wig keeps the cap on for me. However I did once put the head cap in very hot water (carefully!) and let it cool in case it had been warped from time or head. That helped it stay on better, though it was always easier to remove than others.

      2. This one I haven't had happen, but I would recommend putting a bit of plastic or something around the locking mech. It might be slightly too small for her head, so perhaps something in a wider ring shape would help! If this is unclear, message me and I'll get you some pictures!

      3. One of my girls has this right now, with her head snapping down, up, or to the side when I only want a slight tilt. Honestly I use a piece of a cotton ball to stuff between her head and neck to help it have more grip.

      4. For the right hand, use a paper clip or small piece of metal to see if the magnets in the wrist and hand work separately. If they don't the magnet needs to be replaced. If they do work, you can try the hot water trick again! When the hand is hot, put it on the wrist joint and gently squeeze the top of the hand. The resin will compress and should be more molded to the wrist. If you press it too hard onto the wrist and can't get it off, hot water again!

      5. Do you know what year and body she's on? The female bodies have a few issues if they're older. The a-line cutie legs had a problem of being slightly uneven for many years, and there was a period where the bust joint wouldn't lock with the stomach piece when posing the girl doll with her back all the way arched back. I have dolls with both these problems, and I don't mind them, but happily Fairyland fixed both these issues. If you are still having problems with posing, I would definitely try wiring. :)

    16. Has anyone gotten arrival noticed from DDE yet for their Carol?

    17. Thank you! I had 12mm on her before too but they also had a small gap. Still need to order her own eyes and wasnt sure about 12 or 14. I prefer the look of 12, but idk if the gap is gonna bother me in the future haha. Yours are super pretty!

    18. There is one for sale on Denver Doll and I think I remember someone getting their Carol. So, I know that they are shipping. But it can take time for everyone to get theirs.

    19. Finished my Minifee Carol, Bunny.

    21. I know. Some are shipping, but it doesn't look like many. I ordered mine only a couple days after she was released. This is officially the longest I've waited for a Fairyland doll, that's for sure xD

    22. Congratulations!!! I love Dark Elf Soo :D
I have no idea of how to insert Instagram pics here, so here's the link to a photo of my DES.

I also started a layaway with DDE. :celebrate I placed the order on May 25th for a Honoka. I really tried to convince myself that I didn't like her, but I couldn't fool myself, hahaha. It's a shame that I couldn't choose the body type, though.

    23. Thank you ~A*K~ your girl is so cute!!

Congrats on your new girl. Honoka looks so sweet I can see why you love her.

Let's cross our fingers that our girls dont take long to to get to us.

    24. Emilia, my Celine, returned from Shadow Force Aesthetics (https://www.shadowedforcebjd.com/) recently.
I didn't have a wig for her (because Keira, my Chloe claimed it), so I put on a Yo-1/4 sized wig I had laying around and I love the results.
The Celine is probably the top 5 most versatile sculpts in the MNF collection! The short hair is so becoming on her.

    25. Finally got my tracking number from DDE for my tan Carol! Yay!

      • x 3
    26. DDE sent me an email today that they just got my Erda and Carol sets in today. Unfortunately I've only paid 5 out of 9 months so far and have to stick to the layaway plan for now.

    27. Congratulations both:love. I want to see a picture of tan Carol so much. I couldn't choose between the skin colors. Chose tan in the end. But still no shipping notice for me.

    28. Man, I'm so excited. It's been so long since I've bought a doll but I've just order my very first Fairyland doll. I am getting a Minifee Maya and I cannot wait! She looks so pretty. XD

    29. Is there any other bodies that a Fairyland Minifee head will fit? Thank you!

    30. Start here: /threads/which-bodies-work-for-minifee-mnf-heads.154512/ and then check out some of the other threads in Photo Reference about MNF hybrids, too. There's loads of options. :)

    31. Wow thank you!!!

    32. Here is my tan Carol!

I normally love Fairyland wigs, but this one uhhh. xD I put a 4arllin wig on her and it doesn't fit either. oh well.

I am absolutely smitten. She's so cute and innocent. This is also the first Fairyland doll I've EVER received (and I have had a lot) that doesn't have horrible seam lines. She actually doesn't have any on some places! On a tan! All my other Fairyland dolls I could cut myself on, but she feels more... sturdy than normal too? I wonder if they're doing something different or if I'm losing it.

    34. Littlebirdzoom Wow she is so beautiful :lovecongratulations. The wig you used looks perfect ont her. I think Fairyland is doing something different ( I don't want to jinx it) My Maya arrived with almost no seemliness as well. I was so surprised.

It made me want to share picture of my Minifee Rheia, her name is Celes.

    36. Now that I'm looking at the video and pictures on fairyland, I'm almost sure they changed the wig on Carol. It's not the same color, length or even style. Her wig in real life is the most stiff wig I've personally had from FL too. Hm

    37. Wow, that wig really does look completely different. I wonder why they went with that instead? Manufacturing or supply issues? I know sometimes details change between the photos and final production, but that's significant.

    38. She's pretty! And looks so natural and cozy too. Who did the faceup?

Thank you so much! I wasn't able to stop thinking about her all day at work either xD

Crossing fingers as well, it was one of the biggest reasons I wouldn't drop money on their dolls (because they're... more expensive than most companies), but if this continues I would love to buy more. Let's hope it's not just luck! Their dolls deserve it

    39. @Littlebirdzoom Thank you so much for your kind words. Her faceup was done by Culur Faceup back in 2015.

    40. @Heavenly_Nadeshiko Celes is beautiful! I love the Rheia sculpt so much. I feel she’s so underrated

    43. Thank you so much! I also think that Rheia isn’t as popular compared to other Fairyland sculpts but it matters not, I love her big eyes and pouty lips. :fangirl:

Wow!!! Luka is another sculpt that I fell for along Rheia. Yours is so pretty! Congratulations. :aheartbea

    44. Hi, I'm new here and Carol is my first resin BJD.

I was wondering if anyone is able to keep their Carol's shoes firmly on her feet. I have tried retying them in multiple locations (3 loops around the ankle, 2 loops around the ankle + 1 around the calf, 1 loop around the ankle and 2 around the calf). I ended up putting a clear elastic on her shoe because I don't want to lose it, but I feel like this will make taking photos of her outside an issue.

I also know that Minifees have been known to be kicky but has anyone ever received one that has loose hips? She just can't support her weight right out of the box. I am not afraid to restring her, but I would prefer not to have to suede her.

    45. Hi, Congratulations on your first bjd. I haven't received my Carol yet so I don't know what the issue could be. But have you tried double sided tape on the inside of the shoes that stick to the dolls feet. This way you will be able to take pictures without it being noticeable.

I would love to see pictures of your Carol if possible I'm still waiting on mine.

    46. @Lilanie and @Heavenly_Nadeshiko thanks so much!

I ended up doing her faceup last night, and I’m really happy with how she came out. I named her Vivi.

    48. @Lillyroos I have some issues with her wig frizzing up really badly, so I am waiting on getting some wig wax from Volks before I take photos of her. Hope your girl comes in soon. What color resin did you decide on?

    49. Thank you so much <3

    50. She’s so adorable!!!!!

    51. I think USPS is just going around in circles with my Maya for the past few days (hoping to get it tomorrow) and it's driving me a bit crazy. I was expecting to get it today, but I'll just have to wait a bit longer. :) So i'm just going to drop in here and admire all the pretty Minifee's and chat while I give them one more day to get her to me. XD

I'm planning on waiting to get my Maya in to start getting clothes for her, and I plan on going for a more rebellious feel to her attire. I know I want to get this particular denim jacket from Alice's Collection to be the center piece, but I'm also finding it a bit hard to find other pieces to fit the rebel/punk aesthetic for minifees. Do ya'll have any suggestions on online stores/etsy shops to buy clothes for the A-Line Minifee bodies?

    52. @dxgirly Wow she looks lovely. Love her eyes too.

@PaeoniaDrop I was so conflicted on the skin color. I prefer tan most of my dolls are. But she looks so amazing in FairyLands pictures I could not decide. On the last moment because I was afraid she would sell out I choose tan. Hope I choose right. And yours what skin color is your Carol?

@Idelle So exciting. I can't wait to see your Maya too. Hope she arrives soon.

    54. @Lillyroos I personally like NS dolls, but she looks so pretty in Tan. It's a beautiful caramel. I was so in love with how she looked in the promo photos, I wanted the exact same doll.

    55. I just got done paying off my Minifee Sircca yesterday! :D I'm really excited, I placed her order with DDE early May and got her paid off a lot sooner than planned. <3 When I get her, I plan on modding some small elf ears on her, kind of like Siean's. I already got some makos and a monique cara style wig ordered for her, too.

Now I just have to prepare for my Minifee Layaway of Doom so I can get a Mirwen and Lucywen, lol...
