FairyLand Fairy Line Mini discussion part 5

Sep 21, 2017

    1. Just got update from Fairy Land about tan skin! I sent them the e-mail a week ago, asked if they will open preorder for tan skin agani. So, here what they said:

"Thank you for your continuous support for FairyLand dolls.
In order to focus on implementation of new system, we are trying to minimise stress and concentrate with what we can at the moment.
Tan Skin and event will come naturally, when we feel confident enough.
Doll lines that are not listed on our notice board will become eventually available again in near future as well.
      Thank you for understanding."

Nice news! And so great that they took time and answered! <3 :)

    2. My Altis violet faun is in the post... I'm hoping to see him within the next week or so :D

    3. I received my Altis on Wednesday. He'd been waiting for me at DDE for a while. I got the fullset and am very glad I did. His outfit is really nice and definitely suits the character I have for him. The only thing I'm not sure about is if he'll be keeping this wig and I might also change his eyelashes if I change his wig.

    4. @NoDivision Congrats, the Altis fullset looks really nice. It seems to me that he looks even better with no wig!

    5. Yeah, I think he'll suit very short hair very well, but that just means more work for me trying to make him a good short wig.

    6. My Altis is still waiting for me at DDE :( I've been thinking I can pay him off every time I get a paycheck, and then bills or friends that need to borrow money keep popping up. :/ Maybe the next one...

    7. I recently stumbled upon Rens, and wow, is she pretty! :D She looks beautiful with the complete styling in her full-set. I might have to keep a close eye on this line in the future. :3nodding: I didn't pay too much attention to FairyLand before, but the dolls have really caught my interest now.

    8. Total disclosure: I bought this boy to try to hybrid him. He has seriously enchanted me though! He even stole my Soom Keny's wig (poor bald dear!).

    9. Hi! Can someone please tell me if A and M line clothes fit Fairyline? And if not, what does and if it's easy to come by? Thank you.

    10. Hi!
I have all three types and in my opinion Aline fits Fairyline ok. M line has a bit different body type so clothes made especially for her may be too short for for any of the above. I generally try to make clothes fitting all three types :)

    11. @redmaiko He is absolutely precious!!!!!! I have one coming home to me one day too. He really is quite the charmer <3

    12. My Altis is in the customs now~ Hopefully he will be here next week! :D

    13. I keep looking for box opening photos to keep me going as a wait for my violent faun boy who is still "moving through the USPS network" :/

    14. Thank you :)
I'm finding so many people refer to making their own clothes. I think I'd better start on my sewing skills :XD:

    15. What @^kalcia^ said is correct the active and fairy bodies are almost the same but the moe body is a tiny bit chubbier and most importantly shorter, so anything made for it's legs will be short for the other bodies or too long if made for the others.
Tops should work out but keep in mind whatever bust option you have makes a big difference across all the bodies.

My Cutie bust girl swims in stuff made for my large bust girl and that's not even the largest option.

    17. Yay! I finally paid off my Altis! Hopefully he arrives on Monday or Tuesday so I don't have to deal with family opening my package.

    18. redmaiko wow!! congrats looks really nice <3

    19. I remembered this post when I got my Altis today. The faun parts have the exact same crack in the kneecap piece. Like EXACTLY the same crack.

    20. @xibita Thank you!
@thakyuki Oh no!!! :oFairyland sent a whole new set of faun legs to DDE which I switched out and sent back the cracked ones in their prepaid postage box. So thankfully I didn't have to take him apart! Definitely take pictures and contact them.

    21. Yikes. D:

Manufacturing defect across the board? Or just a particularly fragile joint?

    22. I bought an A-line body from the last Fall event and it arrived with a crack above the knee joint as well. I sent pictures to DDE and they sent me a replacement part. Maybe FL has just been having some issues in general with that lately.

    23. My Altis faun was finally at the door today, but the delivery guy drive off before I could reach him :( Now I've got to wait another three days until they ring and run again :( :(

Edit: It's now Tuesday and I've been waiting in for my Altis. A parcel just arrived with the big requested re-delivery sticker on it, and its not Altis! The Post Office put the sticker on parcel due to arrive today, and have left Altis behind!!! I've filled in a new re-delivery request for Thursday :(

    24. Hello everyone... I'm dropping in today to ask for your advice... :/ After looking for quite some time I finally acquired a minifee Ante head in tan (that wasn't normally offered with the fairyline)... as well as a tan male chest piece but just as I was ready to finally order my boy his fairyline body they discontinued the tan color and I have been unsuccessful in getting anywhere in regards to his situation.

My options are maybe give up on getting him fantasy parts and get his body from a company that can resinmatch to his head or wait for fairyland to release tan again but running the risk that will have yellowed and/or fairyland might have changed their tan by then.... :/ is there anyone that can give me any ideas on this?

    25. Fairyland tan is typically only released during their four events every year (i.e. it hasn't been 'discontinued' as such) and the colour hasn't changed much over time as far as I'm aware so a Fairyland match might still be the closest option. Sadly tan is still not going to be available at this Winter event (as you prolly know, Fairyland haven't been offering tan this year - except for Altis' faun legs - while they settle into their re-structure) but it might hopefully return for the Spring event if you wanted to wait.

I'm not sure of the accuracy of matches from over companies.

(Edit: I haven't checked if DDE had heard any news recent about tan though.)

    26. @Donna80 it hasn't been offered in any major events for a while now and fairyland themselves have stated they won't be bringing it back for the forseeable future until they settle a lot of things so yeah... I generally don't mind waiting (I have waited patiently to manage to nab his other parts to begin with) it's just fairyland tan already varies by batches as it is and I'm wary of my head and bust piece yellowing :( ideally I want to stick with fairyline though (the whole idea was to get him an impressive fantasy bottom because my dolls are all mostly pretty "basic humanoids" right now. )

    27. Apparently no one beat me to it so...

Fairly line ala carte is a go!

I repeat fairyline ala carte is a go!:D

Now i just need to wait for an event I want to participate in, and well money obviously.

The only drawback back is they are NOT offering the full line of Minifee heads with the fairy bodies; only those heads that were released with fairyline to begin with plus a few of I guess the "popular" Minifee heads.
You also can't choose hands so hope everyone likes #3 & #7.

    28. Someone pointed out that Altis etc had been added to the chart the other day, and when I looked I didn't even twig they were for sale again. haha :)

I agree, every head should be available on the Fairyline body. I only want Fairyline options for my Minifee :D

*sigh* I still don't have my Altis though. I waited in all day Thursday for him to arrive and at 5.30pm the tracking status updated to "Missed delivery", claiming noone was home when I was right there! Of course there was no note through the door or anything, as they didn't actually come to the house. I've re-arranged delivery for Monday now :( :( :(

    29. Well, I wish they had all the heads on the A line body... Last I looked, Altis was only available on the fairyline and I'm really not sure yet about that body. I don't know if it poses as easily as the A line...

But the sculpts are beautiful! I guess I have to look at more pics to convince myself! :)

    30. uuugh :( this makes it so much harder to get the one I so desperately want. In that case, I am not going to wait around any more and go look for second-hand tan's.

      @Cennie
Wow, altis looks amazing! You have beautiful collection :love

    31. I hate it when they claim missed delivery when they never actually came but I hate it more when they just dump my packages on the back stoop that's not even technically mine without knocking or ringing or anything.

    32. There has been times that I ogle the Fairy Line dolls sometimes, but most of my needs do not require the fantasy parts. So I haven't really talked myself into getting Fairy Line.
I do like to look at the Fairy Line dolls a whole lot; Always love seeing others pretty dolls.

    33. I actually left work early (I have a "work from home" option and used it to finish the day while waiting) so I could catch the UPS driver and get this guy!

[IMG]09: The newest faerie by vicemage, on Flickr

I split the Altis heads off because I wanted him for the one he's shown with, my engraved Halloween 2017 head! Everything's still a little chaotic here with household renovations, so nothing will get done with him for a while, but that will give me more time to finalize my aesthetic ideas for him. I really want to make him capricorn inspired; he'll probably end up looking a bit more like a cute kelpie, but I want a watery theme with him, which is probably going to mean some custom accessory parts or a lot of hunting for them.

    35. This is now for ALL MNF a la carte dolls. No more hand options in a la cart. Have to buy separately. :(

      • x 1
    36. wish if they were going to force the #3's on us they would at least resculpt the magnet holes so they don't pop off everytime you try to pose the hand/arm. :/

    37. Really? Ugh! That totally disrupts my plans to get a second set of #6 and #9 with my next dolls so that after I file the pointy nails i can have a full collection of matching hands.

Even if it's to simplify their casting routine, what's the point of ala carte then?

      I don't need more #3 & #7

Edit: actually this is kinda annoying... They took away an option and it doesn't look like they lowered the price. If that was going to be the case I'd have preferred to buy a doll minus hands at a slightly lower price and order the ones I want on the side!

Ugh! Well I guess on the bright side moding experiments on #3/7 hands might be in my future since they will become dirt cheap on the marketplace.
But it's annoying because FL dolls get beef for "sameness" syndrome and this is just going to exasperate that phenomenon.

    38. I'm going to be super annoying and ask again for Rens owner pics, especially ones with fullset. Still working on paying off my layaway on her and need to see pics while I wait!

    39. I've actually been reading tutorials for doing things like adding longer nails and what not, because the characters I have in mind for my dolls have varying degrees of handiness/manicure. The only set I know I'd want everyone to have for sure is the Heart Hands, so they can all do that together (because I'm sappy, and think that's super cute).

    40. I'm sorry, I'm at work, so I don't have my password to flickr. I do have a picture of Rens on page 43 of this thread, post 857. It is not the fullset, but does have the wig, outfit, & harpy legs. I did not get the wings that went with Ren's, but she is wearing the wings from Sirrca centaur. If you want closeups or picture of a particular part, let me know & I can get them when I am home.

    41. I saw your picture on Flickr, no I mean here on DoA, thank you. I love her with the Sircca wings, which I also have. I am curious to see her with the wings that are part of her full set and with different wigs. I’m considering getting a black wig for mine when she finally gets here.

    43. Thank Youuuuu! This is super helpful...

    44. I've seen some of those. Even though none of my characters are flamboyant like that they are tempting to make. Maybe for my mermaid.

That sounds cute! A heart hand photo shoot.

    45. Hello! :) I'm trying to decide on my first Fairyland mini this winter and I was wondering, is there any difference between the F-Line and normal MNF bodies, besides the fantasy body parts? Do they pose or handle any differently?

    46. When I was looking at doing the same, I read a few comments from people that the pelvic joint/hip connector results in a bit of weird posing restriction, but is otherwise pretty similar to the A-line body. I ended up getting an A-line because I have no plans for fantasy parts yet.

      • x 1
    47. I have a couple of old A-line and several F-line girls and they all pose differently from each other. The A-line girls are a little more consistent. No two of the F-line human bodies I have has the same capabilities. The legs are the main difference- my first F-line can't stand. She just can't. She's a mermaid now so it's ok for me. My most recent however stands like a champ.

      Hope that helps :)

    48. @rougeaerie @BabySnow Thank you both, that helps a lot! :) I like the idea of having a mermaid girl some day, but for now I think I shall go with the A-Line body. Many thanks again!

      • x 1
    49. Two of my F-line bodies are the same way, their knees sometime buckle and they collapse. I have to pull on the lower legs to get the knees to sort of snap back in. Other than that I like that particular body because I mostly prefer the fantasy parts on them.

      • x 1
    50. @Zaliayn the fairy and active body joints are mostly the same. The difference is how the body itself is held together and the shoulder socket is a tiny bit different, better actually because the interior mechanism required the elastic holes in the bust to be more precise.
I find my Alicia mermaid on the stiff side thanks to tight new elastic. My active girls vary on their willingness to hold a pose or stand depending on the state of their elastic.
Silicone discs have been a big help for one doll but since the holes in the bust are uneven one side gets sucked into the body after a while.

Sorry that got long, the bottom line is both have their quirks and then every doll has its own.

    51. I too prefer the fantasy parts on mine. The one who can't stand didn't have her tail for a good year or more so it was a struggle :sweat I tried doing similar things as you tried but I think the elastic may just be far too tight, the legs won't stay straight no matter what I do. The other two f-line bodies I have that have the legs don't have that issue.

    52. I read somewhere, that if you lay the doll on it's back and then push on the knees back towards table or whatever it's laying on, that sometimes helps snap everything back.

    53. I got a notification my altis arrived at my post office yesterday but I was out of town, so now I have to wait until Monday after work :(

    54. Back in 2017 when I got my Alicia boy I got the engraved event head. I thought I would end up selling it but decided to get it a face up and see. I had a character in mind that is a fairy type fantasy creature who is very much silver and blue tones. He has stolen my DC Hugh's body atm.

    55. Hi friends! I took my first picture of my Lucywen last night, and think I have settled on a name for her- Elise! I made her bunny ears recently to complete the jackalope look, and am really in love with this dress. I haven't taken any doll photos in a while, and I hope to get back into it. They were fun to take and to edit. <3

    56. I thought that I'd restring my fairyline human that's been having trouble standing with 3.5mm elastic to make her more stable, since that's worked well with all of my other Minifees, but in this case it seems to not work at all. I think that the channels might be too narrow for it to work? Does anyone else have experience with this?

    57. I love her ears and dress. She is very mysterious and beautiful.

    58. I love him! It's so nice to see an engraved head with a faceup, too :D

    59. I was very lucky to get a beautiful horse body on the Marketplace recently. Here is my Rens as a centaur:

I asked Fairyland to send Rens directly to a face up artist. My Rens ended up looking very different from her Fairyland company photos. I was quite surprised at first and there was a bit of an adjustment period, but I really like her now. :)
