Dust of Dolls Appi discussion part 1

What I would do is just paint tattoos over the hand AHAHA! In any case, I doubt DoD has any spare hands lying around BUT there's no harm in just asking. It's free after all ;D I think you should definitely email them.

my appi khol is on her way home to me from france.. she will be my first "big purchase" and first real BJD as all I have at the moment are MH dolls.. I am so excited I might scream! I hope her eyes/wig/outfit gets here soon too!!!! ahhhhh

 

My Coti has arrived but she's soooo floppy that I cannot keep her even standing straight. She has some old glue sueding but is there any other way to fix it? She should stand like a champion according to her DoD photos but all she can do now is sitting straight help please. Photos as soon as she will stand on her own feet (what a cuuuute toes she has )

I am DYING of her cuteness, so small doll and so HUGE sweetness OMG I died really definitely love from the first sight and I am not dissapointed with her at all. Now need to find her a sister (#happydancingfromyesterday)

 

@Belle Magni That's funny; the Cota I bought second hand is strung sooo tightly that she snaps her legs into the sitting position constantly. I can't get her to stand or even straighten out well lying down! I don't know if she came that way from DoD or the seller I bought her from though. It sounds like restringing is in both of our futures!

 

I wish I could avoid restringing her... But you are right, even sueding won't work with loose strings I am affraid that I will break these tiny hands while changing strings I did that before but on bigger dolls, more massive, not so fragile I will try sueding again, this one she has is old and uneven, maybe new one will help.
I wish DoD could make a preorder for one of appi girls again. I know they are releasing Wawa now, but I really would love to get Meel or Lunn It would be so great, preorder for one new doll and one old one hands up who needs another appi girl

 

Well each Appi is normaly released only once per color for preorder. So unless fantasy colors are planned, sadly I don't think we'll have a v1 appi preorder (on v2 body ?) anytime soon :C

After actually thinking I'd have to sell her cause I just couldn't find a body for her - I now have a Wood Habitat/SiO2 1/6 body and it's a flawless combination (if one ignores the glaring skintone difference )

 

Soooo I sold my Coti and my Krot Helo to buy this girl... I have 0 regrets. Look how cute she is !!!

i got my appi cota a while ago! her name is mei, and she is the cutest.



i'm still trying to finalize a mori outfit for her. what shoes do you guys use, or do you go custom? i've been having a hard time finding fitting shoes that i like!

 

I was asked for comparaison pics between the mint Spun and mint Meel and it's the exact same mint ! My Meel is faintly yellowed but I think it's the msc ^^

Anyone else seen the blog announcement for the new Appi Kore? She's apparently not going to be a LDoll exclusive but will also get a regular preorder so I'm doomed cause her face would go so well with my Cöti xD

 

Oh she is ? I thought she was a Ldoll exclusive "for now". But I might remember wrong !

I've read that Coti will probably have a LE edition fantasy skin release in the future, so I'll keep money aside for that and pray it will be an online preorder like the mint Spuns and not for a convention x)

 

I asked DoD and they said a preorder was planned for Kore so I just hope for now xD I'm not necessarily fond of the Appi V2 body but I really want the Kore face

See, I like the V2 Body but I really wish the old hands from the V1 body were the hands they used instead. Or something similar. The new hands are so chunky comparatively.

Margaux came back from her dolly spa last week with her new face up and i'm so so happy!!!! She's coming together so beautifully.

Has everyone seen the absolutely adorable little Kore? She's so cute! I think I still want to get my hands on Cota again though. That little smile is too much for me!

 

i just paid towards a coti AND cota! Im so excited, I'm not sure who to pay off first! What kind of clothes fits these girls and what wig size?

 

I can show you my Coti finally after two months of having her I was able to take her for some photos XD Sorry for all sitting poses, I had a lot of problems with posing her, she is hotglued but still...

Clothes, you will likely have to find clothes specifically made for them. Some Yo-SD dresses may fit, and some tops for slim minis, but it's a risk at best. For wigs, they wear 5-6¨. Congrats on paying the first payments towards your girls!

Had to take a break from dolls due to some personal stuff, but today I finally again took a photo of my An that I really like. Anouk and Elvira (the orchid) both says hi!

Does anyone else have issues with posing? I adore my girl, but trying to get her to stand is almost impossible >~< Her legs tend to pull inwards and her knees snap into the bent position all the time. Idk if it's a stringing issue or just the way the body is, it's not a problem I've had with any other doll but it's really frustrating

 

Yes, I have the same issues with the knees and feet. But hot glue sueding and some wiring really did a lot for me. I'd suggest you to give that a try

 

I agree with @Wiske ! I believe my appi khol is very loosely strung and she is awful at holding poses. I have also tried hot glue sueding and wiring and it has definitely helped! But she still needs to be restrung and last time I tried that I was at my desk for 3 hours very frustrated about it all so I gave up. Now my poor girl is.... floppy.

 

Well, I can't for the life of me get a decent application of hot glue for sueding, so I tried actual suede. It still takes a bit of work to get her to cooperate haha, but she's definitely improved a lot~ I've been trying to work on clothing for her, and it's been so frustrating testing the fit when she refuses to keep her legs straight

 

I've had those issue with Appis from preorders, but much less for those I got at conventions. I think the factory has a way of stringing them that's super tight and make them kicky !
And I've witnessed that for both V1 and V2 appi bodies, except V1 are getting super loose over time.. My NS Meel is able to stand up thanks to her stand otherwise she's just to floppy to stand on her own now :C

 

@Sept Ah, fair enough. I feel like she might be too tight, but I'm not sure if I'm game enough to try restringing her since I've never done it before >~<

 

Yup same here, especially since V1 don't have hooks but little strings on their wrists and I'm just no good with that... (I can't even tie my laces properly most of the time, so working with such a tiny piece of string...)

Both of mine are hot glue sueded and restrung by me (I do it to all my dolls) and they are still difficult to make stand. The knees always tend to give in but with enough patience and fiddling I have managed every time. I have been restringing my dolls since I joined this hobby in 2008 though.

I'm glad it's not just me aha, though as frustrating as she can be I still adore my girl. I'm sure I'll have to try restringing eventually though

For info, Frappzilla's Pukifee sized wigs fit Appi girls really well. That's what my Meel, Neze and Kore are wearing ^^
