Dust of Dolls Appi discussion part 1

Wonderful to have them on-topic here and I´m looking forward the new owner pics after the dolls are ready and done!

I wanted to wait until the Appi Meel comes to pre-order - she is my favourite of them, though all of them are so cute. I saw them in Ldoll festival in Dust of Dolls table, I think it´s ok to share the pics, even though I don´t own these dolls, just took pics of them displayed.

 

I'm so happy that Appi is on-topic now. I already placed my order for a NS Lunn. These girls are so perfect. I can't wait to start sewing for her round little body. x3

 

Both Kohl and Lunn are adorable! I am trying to work out if I can swing a Kohl for this preorder. Any idea how long the wait will be once the preorder closes?

 

I really really REALLY want a Kohl! She's so cute, but no funds Maybe one day... Trying so hard not to give in to her beauty >.<

 

I have ordered Kohl, just couldn't resist I am so pleased they are now on topic and I can't wait to see pics as they start to arrive

 

Fairyspit , if everything goes well we will have send all the dolls without faceup before the end of january.
For the ones who ordered a makeup by Viridian House, you will have to wait a little more, the time for her to paint all the heads.

Has anyone else decided to get the Viridian House face-up? I opted to get it because she does such good work, even if it will take the doll longer to get to me.

 

I have gone with the Viridian face-up too. Caroline is currently working on a face-up for my Pukifee so was do pleased when I saw she was doing the optional face-ups on these. I think they all look adorable and I can't wait

 

These are lovely dolls! I love the sculpts but have never seen these dolls in the resin.
Does anyone know what the resin is like ? Is it heavy, solid, or light? Is it matte or shiny?

I ordered Lunn NS without face-up and I'm dancing. My husband tried to turn me on Khel but mans always prefer much more adult dolls .
I hope I'll be able to finish her before April. In that case she will be with me on IDEX-2013 exhibition.

 

Actually, my husband thinks that adult dolls are creepy. In his mind dolls are supposed to all be child-like, and I think he will really like Lunn

It sounds good. I will be glad to meet you on IDEX for BJD-photos and coffee.
Appi dolls look as if they have the best size for meetings. Actually they are "in-bag" size.

 

916mvk - They do seem like they are a great size for carrying around and tucking away in your bag when you need to. My MSD is taxing to carry for long periods, and all that leg can be fussy. I looking forward to the smaller size of the Appi

She is my favorite doll ever. She is over cute, and pose very well. And her face up by Dust of doll girls is just to die for!

Just wondering if anyone can give me information about the resin of the new dollies please...?

 

Nearly the end of the order period! I think I want to get both girls with faceups...I love them both and just can't decide.

 

Khol WS is the first BJD I really fell for... I have never bought a BJD before and I'm a little bit nervous for spending so much cash on a doll, but I know I'd regret not buying her when there was a chance.

The faceups are absolutely stunning and I think they were one of the main reasons I got to like Khol so much - they show what can be achieved with that lovely face sculpt. Still, I really want to make the doll my own so I decided to order a blank and test my skills

 

Fairyspit- I know they are both so beautiful aren't they? Khol is really adorable and I love her ears, but I saw owner pics of Lunn months ago and fell in love with her then. I did have a hard time choosing between white skin or normal skin though.

Matango - I'm in the same boat as you. NS Lunn was the first doll I have ever experienced that need to have feeling, but it is a good chunk of money for a tiny. I decided to go ahead and make the leap because after looking at dolls for over 3 years now, she is the only one I'd felt like that over. I wish you luck in your future face-up adventures with her

 

Pianissimo : The resin is solid, and matte, a little bit translucent. I didn't notice any yellowing on our samples, since we got them, and we don't hide them from the sun. But they will of course be yellowing in time, like every other dolls. But, this is not french resin, which yellow very quickly

Matango : You're so cute &#9829; I really hope you will not be disappointed when you will get your first doll!

Has anyone successfully made a 2 part layaway? If so, what did you do at the Paypal screen? I don't think my order will complete if I don't make payment.

I made my order! I got both Lunn and Khol with faceups and the blue shorts outfit with cardi since it is so cute!

I can't believe I did it but I really could not choose just one.

Oh man, so nervous! I just ordered a blank, WS Khol - I am glad I got in before the end of the day but @__@ The two month layaway is frightening. I am going to start dumping money into my paypal. I've been desperately wanting one of these girls though so it's going to be completely worth it!

edit: Reading through the posts here, I have to say I'm in the same boat as many of you! I really fell in love with Dust of Doll's work and I can't wait to see more! I was head over heels for Puns and I am sad that I never had the chance to get her! But Khol is so sweet with that smile! I am so excited to know she is going to be mine!

 

I ordered a NS Lünn without faceup. ^_^

I'm sooo looking forward to have her in my hands: this sweet little face and cuddly body!

 

Out of curiosity, is anyone going to be doing mockups of their dolls or sketches? I'd love to see what you all come up with! Or if you have characters/ideas I'd love to hear about them!

Also, should we start a waiting room? I know they won't be arriving right away but for those of you who paid in full, the wait time said only 40-60 days until shipping and I would be curious to know how quickly they arrive to homes after that!

Diamantis I myself wouldn't buy the doll if it was any bigger, even for a lower price - I was trying to find a tiny doll that doesn't look like a very young child/baby and had a hard time, not much choice there unfortunately

I got paid so I paid off the rest of my 'layaway' so now I shouldn't have to wait as long! Ahh I am so excited!

Matango - Yay! I can't wait to see! I have so many ideas running around in my head that I can't decide on what I want!

I'm a total faceup noob and I can already see myself getting mad over my first one not being perfect, I'm dumb like that u_u

Still undecided on the wig colour and shape, it's hard to predict how it will look in real life - I've got 4 shades of some lovely merino wool fibers I can use. I guess I'll have to experiment

 

That is the same reason I fell for the doll so hard. I have an MSD but she is too big for me to handle comfortably, and I wanted to try the tiny size, but I still wanted her to be "adult" and not a child or baby. I also love the pear shape body, I don't think I could ever own a doll with "perfect" proportions.

... Maybe I don't belong in the Dust of Doll discussion since everyone appears to adore Dust of Dolls, but I really don't like their faces. I looooove the bodies though! Even though they're single jointed, they pose rather nice!

I have a couple ideas and I'm struggling to figure out which idea I want to go with! But maybe I want her to be a redhead or maybe I want her to have like a side cut and be super punk and a;lskdjf;asdf I HAVE TOO MANY IDEAS.

I may just have to get more of these cuties to fulfill all of them. /sigh.

I've been super ill so I haven't had the energy to do a mockup but maybe I'll get something done eventually to show!

 

You will not be disappointed! I love my Püns SO much and the Appi bodies look even better!! I also just love the personality of their faces. So glad we had this chance for pre-order!

 

Is anyone else trying to pay still? I know Dust of Dolls mentioned they can't accept payments but I wondered if anyone else was still waiting for their payments to go through?

 

I am SO sad, I wasn't able to pull together the funds for Lunn in time because my laptop died. I am just going to have to wait and hope for a second hand market girl or for the next pre-order of a different head on the Appi body.

I can't wait to see everyone else's dolls, though!

 

I am so sorry I missed out on the order period, I was in the middle of a move and didn't even see the long awaited release. I hope that there will be more releases i'm afraid I fell hard for the Lunn. So I will now eagerly stalk this thread waiting to see everyone's beautiful girls arriving.

Sims, I believe that Lunn will not ever be offered again. I could be mistaken, but I think the Appi body will be released again with a different head, but the two heads from this release won't be produced again.

I fell hard for Lunn, too, but dead laptops require a savings plan that doesn't include gorgeous dolls, unfortunately!

 

I ordered ws Khöl and ws Lünn the first day they were available! I am so excited to add these girls to my dod collection. I was supposed to order Khöl only but when I saw their price I went nuts "OMG cheap must get both *klik klik ordered and paid \o/*". I have already ordered some eyes for them. Now that I think of it I really should order some mohair and get some dyes! I haven't even thought about that!

I also have so outfits waiting for them here. I should be able to sew something before they get here with my Püns helping me.

I know I'll be ordering more dolls when they have next pre-order. I wish next there would be kröt tinies so my Këte would get a friend. I really want that smiling mouse.
Dust of dolls stated somewhere that Khöl and Lünn won't be available again as pre-order. But there will always be someone who got these and didn't end up liking them.

 

I've felt the same ever since I saw Dust of Dolls and Doll Chateau.

umu-dolly I wasn't sure about Khol's face at first (I thought those lips looked like she was stung by a bee ) but it somehow grew on me.

SmoteyMote I love the android design but I'm not sure it would fit Appi body as it looks so soft and lifelike.

Kaede^ mentioned eyes, I'm not sure if that's not too offtopic here but could anyone recommend a good place with a wide variety of 8mm glass eyes that won't make my wallet cry? I was going to buy a few pairs from mybayer2008 on Ebay but I've read they were selling doll bootlegs and I don't want to support a company like that.

 

I am definitely looking into another look too, especially with Khol's sweet face! As to 8mm eyes, look into Captured in Glass here on DoA and, if you don't mind not-glass maybe look at Dreaming Tree Studio! They have a really big selection and their eyes are really cheap! So you can get an idea of what color you want and then maybe order glass eyes from there?!

Thank you! Captured in Glass look lovely and the prices are quite affordable Do they have a shop outside of DoA? I don't think I'll get marketplace access anytime soon.

I'm going to make her a pair of tie sandals from a ribbon, or just leave her barefoot (those feet are so cute...) with the ribbon wrapping around her calves.
