    6. Did you make the cabinet yourself? It’s gothic-arch shape is impressive.

Ah, I see elsewhere you thrifted it. Excellent eye!

    11. Thank you so much for the kind words! :3nodding:

You definitely should! This project was super fun to work on and I feel like it's something you don't have to worry about "making mistakes" on because of the nature of it if that makes sense? When you do, share pictures for sure! :kitty2:chibi

    12. I certainly will, Once I get my craft room set up, i'm definitely dedicating a space for my dolls.

The world can always use more unseelie/magical goodness. And that cupboard is epic! That moss layering looks very natural. You did a spectacular job, and I like your placement of the mushrooms. The crystals and vines add a nice, witchy touch. If this is the appetizer, the main courses are sure to be delicious.

    20. Project #2 for this journal! I’m really excited about this one. I don’t really have a plan for these awesome jars I found at my local (and favorite!!) flea market for $5!!!!!! FIVe!!!! And they were on sale :D The crystals are from arkansas and those were on sale too. I should’ve gotten waaay more. smh. anyway.. back to the craftin’

I think I want to do a mix of fairy and spooky with these so it’s not a copy/paste type project.. Plus my Witch has to have some place to keep all her creepy crawlies right *spooky music*

(let me know if the photos worked. on my phone so can’t navigate between doa and flickr well LOL)

Also any ideas for themes/creepy crawlies that should go in these are welcome!!!! I think I’m gonna make the largest terrarium spooky theme!

    21. Alas, I cannot see your pictures!
Arkansas quartz crystals are the best. Congrats on a good find!

    22. Edited the post now that I'm on my computer - yay!!!

They really are! The guy I bought them from said he dug them up himself so that was pretty cool. Still beating myself up about not grabbing more of the larger ones.. they were all less than $2 for a large palm-size.. :doh

    23. Another fun weekend project I'll throw in here!
I have been eyeing this cute little cabinet for weeks at my local flea market. It was in pretty decent condition and it was priced at $2 USD!! TWO. DOLLARS. But last weekend I swung by to browse and the booth was 50% off everything so I decided to just grab it!

I didn't take any "before" pics or pics of the mirror I had to smash/pull out of it :doh But let me tell you. Whoever glued the mirror in the back of the cabinet, must've used superman glue. I ended up getting to frustrated with it not coming out I started smashing it with my screwdriver.. smh.

But after all that was done, I took the doors off, took the drawer out, and removed all hardware and glass from the pane. Sanded everything down as there was a loooot of scuff/damage. But the sandbars I used did just the trick.
Used a two-in-one primer for white and painted everything! I was planning on going over the white with another color but I really ended up liking the white and gold hardware look.. So it worked out.

      (Please excuse the mess!)

Now for the inside! I knew I wanted the original jewelry felt compartments, but I recovered them in a pretty grey silk material. Added some ribbon to hide my mistakes which worked out lol. The glue seeped through the silk on the front and it looked god-awful. Ribbon to the rescue!

Not pictured: a "T" shaped cardboard divider I put into the large left portion. Looking at this now, maybe I should've left it open to accommodate more shoes.....

I also repainted the spinning piece at the top with a nicer gold color to match the door's handles on the outside, as the original gold looked like super cheap plastic.

I think it turned out well for 2-3 hours of work! I'm thinking of maybe adding some craft paper to give it some more texture and to break up the white. Not sure.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

    24. At first glance I thought the necklace rack (spinning piece in the center) was a tiny chandelier. You’re doing great work with your finds.

    25. thank you so much!!

    27. Wow I have been neglecting my project journal. I've been preoccupied with a new hobby (resin/epoxy crafting) and I don't have any new dolls coming in (soon, that is..) to really motivate or inspire me to create anything new. :( But i'm trying to get back into having new weekend projects! Here's an update to post #23:

I added scrapbook paper to the back and sides with poster tack in case i ever wanted to change up the look but I seriously love this final look.

      More to come..

    28. Next project I wanted to share is basically the same as the last "dolly closet" but different! I think this one is my favorite of the two :3nodding:

First step: Disassemble as much as possible, cover hardware with masking tape if needed, remove glass, sand out imperfections.

      Step two: Paint!

Step three: Reassemble doors, glass, etc. I removed the necklace holder thing in the right compartment, as I wanted to try making a hanging rod for clothes! I accomplished this with hot glue and a wooden dowel. I love it! I also added scrapbook paper onto the face of the drawers. I really enjoyed the white and gold look, but it just looked too... flat. The paper and tassels helped I think and happened to be leftover from previous crafting! Woohoo!

      And all done! Final pictures:

A bonus: My attempt at crafting dolly size hangers out of jewelry wire i had laying around LOL

      Which one is your favorite??
Thank you so much for all your support and kind words!

    29. Please, don't ask to choose a favorite one, both are so beautiful and well done! Your choice of patterns are really good, and the way you stylized them matches so well! :love
This project journal is really inspiring, keep the good work! :aheartbea

    30. I don't have a favorite either, I just wanted to drop by and say I enjoy and admire your sense of style! These pieces all look so charming!

    31. Thank you everyone for the positive words! :blush

I have another project finally after a bit of a creative block!
*Sorry for the brief doll nudity!!*

Here are my YoSD girls who are begging me to turn this little Ikea greenhouse into something like a sun room for them! How exciting! I've had this thing for years and it has gone from a small succulent garden, to an actual greenhouse, to a dust collector. I think now it should be something for these girls! I'm imaging lots of green, a pretty "tile", hanging plants, vining plants.... ahhhh!

I hope to update this thread over the next week or two as I'm sure I will complete it fast!

**Also, please excuse my girl on the far left who is missing her head. She's off for a face up :XD:

    32. Well.... I'm back with an update on a diorama.. but a different one! And boy am I E X C I T E D.
Project #3?... MSD Diorama, made from an existing refurbished book case I purchased. Let's get started :XD:

First thing's first. I had to hammer the hell out of the middle shelf. I believe it was built *into* the side walls, because it would not BUDGE.I had to have my biG ManLy BoYfriEnd come help me :doh

Step 2: Rip out the fabric, remove nails/hardware left behind from the shelf, clean up, and because I'm somewhat a neat freak, fill in the remaining gaps left by the shelf.

Listen, I know what you're gonna say. "Maddison.. that stuff is for foam? Why?? WHY" Okay this stuff was so fun to play with. It's like super airy fluff that dries hard. It was absolutely, without a doubt worth the $5 I spent on it. Because the next step of this project had me ripping my hair out.

Step #3. Flooring. Please learn from my mistakes on this one :doh
Unfortunately I don't have any "in progress" photos of this one but I'll try to explain the process!

The flooring is actually from Hobby Lobby (a craft store here in the USA) and it's like a vinyl sheet for laser..cutting?? Not sure. But it's self-adhesive which was super important to me! The sheets were just one continuous board but I really wanted a staggered look, so I ended up cutting the one long sheet into about 6 in to 7 in, and then from there cutting the boards to be separate. I then had to peel and stick them one by one which took me about an hour and a half. The part where I screwed up was that the boards were all different thicknesses, so a good part of the hour and a half was spent trying to match thicknesses and cutting millimeters off to make the floor look good. Honestly it's not as great as I had imagined it in my head, but I love it enough to not want to redo it!!!

Step #4. Walls (which... you have already seen a sneak peak in the last step! Ignore that!!!)

I wanted a floral "wallpaper" and a texture like brick or stone throughout the diorama so I did some browsing and found these:
a tropical fabric that was thin and a liiiiittle stretchy, and white brick scrapbook paper that was approximately the right scale. I also wanted to add the wooden border to cover the meeting edges and to also add dimension and texture to the wall. I think eventually I will remove the brick paper and put in an actual 3D textured version of it, but for now the paper will do!!

      Next steps:
      • Add trim to the bottom edges
      • Get more white brick paper for the sides
      • Furniture
      • Build the couch

Thanks for reading if you've gotten this far!!!! Let me know what you think!~

    33. I built a couch!!!

Unfortunately I didn't take any progress photos. But I can link to youtube tutorial I followed!

I planned on using small wooden pieces as feet but they were too unstable so I guess she has a couch on crates now??
