Thank you Jane and Teddy. Oooh I'm a bad Mummy aren't I Now you'll be pleased to hear that Tessa has a slot booked for May! That's exciting news Jane, you'll all have great fun with two bikes and a trailer
Right, I've finally done it. I recently received a "Contribution Award" bonus (for going over-and-above on a project at work last year) and I wanted to spend it on something specific to mark the (rare-at-my-workplace) recognition. However, I'm useless at making decisions and I couldn't make up my mind between getting a body for the Ninodoll Shampoo head I've had it a cupboard for a couple of years, or whether to spend it on filling gaps in the clothes/shoes/accessories needed for my exisiting dolls. I put off making the decision for long enough that I semi-forgot about it and the money was in danger of being whittled away by ordinary spending from my account... then I complicated it even more by realizing that the head would fit just as well on the DT 7Year body as it would on the DT Elf body I had originally been thinking of... {sigh!} More weeks passed until today when I was bored at work waiting for day end to start Easter Break (on a day when I wasn't even supposed to be in work as I'd also forgotten I had booked it as leave!) when I suddenly decided I had prevaricated enough and I ordered a 7Year body from DollsTown. It said "in-stock" rather than "preorder" but I seem to recall that "in-stock" doesn't mean it's sat there on a shelf just waiting to be packaged up and shipped, so I'm expecting a delay before I get a shipping notice. Meanwhile I need to get thinking about a faceup, eyes and wig for the Shampoo head. Once she's a complete doll, I'll then need to get to know her and find out if she's an addition to my VIctorian Family, my little group of 1920's/30's dolls, a stand- alone from another era entirely, or modern girl to keep January (Alina 7Year) company. Teddy
That's exciting Teddy and I hope you don't have to wait too long. I googled Ninodoll Shampoo to see what she looks like - she is such a pretty girl. I will enjoy seeing you bring this girl to life
Thanks Michaela. When I'll actually get around to getting her all together is, as usual, anybody's guess. Teddy
Well that was a convoluted train of thought Teddy! Now the waiting begins, I hope it is a short wait for you *fingers crossed* Oh! And congratulations about the bonus too!
Thanks, Jane. Now you see why I often prefer to outsource my decision making. My colleagues are quite used to me stopping by their desks and saying, "Yes or No?" or "What am I doing for lunch?" Teddy
Well, I looked up the old emails about a previous DT order and it was 13 days between ordering an "in-stock" item and it being shipped, and this time was the same - 13 days between placing the order and the 7Year body being shipped. It's already in the country and has cleared Customs -- I'm just waiting for it to reach the local delivery depot so I can play the Customs Charges. Teddy
I hope the charges are not too steep Teddy Tessa's head has gone off to the faceup artist, due back here in July
How exciting Teddy! I can't wait to see the new doll and then to find out what she wants to be. And good news from you too Mikki........what face-up artist did you use? I am so out of the loop of face-up artists now that I wouldn't know who to use!
@Jane I sent her to Pathy in France, my first time trying her. I follow her on Flickr and her work looks lovely.
Jane, she's Pathy's Dolls on Flickr and she has a faceup thread here too /threads/pathys-dolls-face-up.691965/
I really like the look of her work too.....thank you so much for the link. I think she will make a lovely job of bringing your Tessa to life.
Thanks Jane and Teddy, I'm glad to have introduced her work to you and we'll all look forward to seeing how she brings my Tessa to life.
My 7Year body just arrived (held up by ParcelFarce rather than Customs), so I really need to do something about a faceuup for the head now. Teddy
Yes. Well, it really depends on whether I have a coinsidence of time and energy to have a go myself, and if that happens, what the finished result is like (whether I keep it or wipe it and send it off to someone). EDITED TO ADD: No nfaceup yet, of course, I put the head on and dug out a wig and some cltohes just to give an idea of how it works: Teddy
Tessa's head arrived back this weekend! I'm very pleased to see her cute little face come to life but you mustn't look too closely at my attempt to fit eyelashes - what a mess, but I was too impatient to try again, couldn't wait to get her back together. Then I realised I'd no idea where I put her headcap whilst she was away! So the back of her head is currently stuffed with paper towel *sigh*.
But we'd never have known if you hadn't mentioned it. Good luck finding the headcap and with your next attempty at the lashes (I hate doing lashes, it's so fiddley!) Teddy
She's adorable @mikki Congrats on her coming home, and I am sure head cap will turn up. Hugs and thanks for sharing her here.
Gosh! Tessa looks amazing.....I love her natural face-up so much. No wonder you are thrilled with her. And add me to the list of those who loathe putting eyelashes in a doll. I have never ever cracked it in one! LOL! Did you have to wait long to get a slot with this artist?
Forgive me if this has already been asked, but how well do the 7-year heads fit on the 5-year bodies?
They're pretty much interchangeable, I think. I have the Alina head on both 7Year and 5Year bodies: And several here have mix-ed-and-matched between the 5Year and 7Year heads and bodies Teddy
They're stolen from January's clothes box. The socks are from Dale Rae. I must order some more so this girl has her own to use (and shoes) I made her a more 40's/50's style outfit from an adapted pattern for a Shirley Temple doll yesterday, but the patterns need more alteration before I make anything else as the lengthened skirt needs more fullness to balance it out for the right silhouette (and the matching all-in-one "playsuit" under it needs more fullness in the legs and sleeves): EDITED TO ADD : Named at last - Delphinium, or Phinnie for short. Teddy
Another stand alone since she's decided to go 50's (not that there's enough space for any of my lot to be truly stand alone in terms of the space tey occupy so she'll probably end up sitting with January, or the Blacket girls, Winnie and Phige). Thanks for a day off work yesterday (to avoid the boring annual staff conference), I've nearly finished another dress for her (just the hem, handwork, and fastenings left to do) from the same adapted set of patterns, but I'm hoping she will eventually have oufits from 1950s, 1850s, 1750s, 1650s, 1550s, and 1450's (possibly earlier too, but I'd have to do more research for those as they aren't periods I've researched for full-sized costume). However, since I have more plans for clothes for my dolls than I'm ever likely to get around to making, we'll have to see what she actually ends up with. EDITED TO ADD: I worked the hem and sewed the lining down inside the dress this morning (when I should have been tidying the sewing room). It's pinned shut but at least Phinnie could try it on for a picture: EDITED AGAIN TO ADD: I snuck a bit more time to sew the last of the outtfits I cut out while adapting the pattern. This time the adatptations made for a perfect fit: Phinnie (Ninodoll Shampoo/DollsTown 7Year) tries on her new outfit Teddy
Just got shipping notice for my Jiyu head and 5 yr body has shipped. I will have a new doll for Christmas.
Here is my Christmas display with some of my DT7 dolls..... Christmas plans by Jane, on Flickr Please let me know if you can see the photo........I am using Photobucket for the first time in years Edit: I had to replace the image as the Photobucket stored image stopped working ((shrug))
@Teddy Thanks Teddy......it took me simply ages to figure out how to load a photo to Photobucket, and then even longer to work out where to find the links! LOL! How are all your DT gang doing? Have you dressed them all for the winter season? I am still cross about the disintegration of so many of my DT size shoes.......but I have discovered that those I bought from Blue Fairy are standing the test of time. So as soon as they restock their TF Mary Jane shoes I will be ordering! Bluefairy International-I will always be here for you
What prompted you to switch back to using photobucket, Jane? I haven't done a thing about switching them to more wintery clothes (in fact, January is stil in a summery dress I changed her into for a "flower-power" themed meet a while back, and the outfit she was in before - knitted jumper & velvet leggings - was far more suitable for the coler weather we have now). I must get onto that for almost all of my resin gang. Same here. Luckily all the less expensive ones I got from Juju's DollyMall (Juju's Dolly Mall | eBay Shops) have lasted beautifully and still look like new so I'm sticking with them... I just wish they did more "Victorian" style boots so I could replace all the more expensive ones that have flaked and been ruined. Arin is currently without boots since the ones he was rearing crumbled beyond use ( I had several pairs of those in different colours and all of them in SD size too... {grump}) Good news that your Bluefairy shoes have stood the test of time though. That's worth remembering - thanks for sharing. Teddy
@Teddy I used Photobucket because I hadn't used it in years, and as I pay a small yearly fee for it I thought I had better just try and see if it still worked. Convoluted reply! LOL! And my girls haven't had a clothes switch since last year either.......I don't play with them at the moment. They are just display dolls. But I really should put a cardi on Jillian (who is sitting on the floor) she will catch her death of cold otherwise! LOL! And I am sorry that you are having the same issues with shoes
If the central heating weren't dfoing it's job in that house, the fire would be lit in the picture, so Jillian will only get cold if she goes outside with out her cardi and coat. It's been mentioned on other threads so we're not the only ones. Teddy
Has anyone come up with a way/solution of halting the disintegration yet? I have considered coating the shoes with PVA glue !
My DT Jiyu arrived today. After about 6 weeks she is finally home. Face up will have to wait until after the holidays. But she has her wig and the start of lots of clothes to try on for size. Eyes will be different once face up is done, Something less staring at you style. LOL So here she is with big brother Momiji. Meet Momo by Marie, on Flickr I can't wait to play dress up with her to see what works for her.
It's worth a try, I don't recall anyone making any suggestions of the sort. Yay! Have fun finding her style Teddy
Help! I seem to have a doll on my hands who might just be a 'repeat' of what I already have!!! I bought Jillian (Deogi) over a year ago and I have hardly done anything with her. She simply doesn't seem to have a strong and distinct personality like my other DT7 dolls have. She is a lovely doll but............. Do you have dolls in your collection that have less personality than others? And if you do, how do you cope with them?
I do, and they just fill the quieter roles in the groups rather than the extrovert ones. One of them ,all I have for her is her name, her favourite colour, she has a cat, and likes dancing (but isn't a "natural" at it).... and that last bit didn't become apparent until a few days ago. Teddy
She's lovely @Jane I am thinking I should add more kids then big ones, but I figured the big ones first then kids. Certain ones will be in stories, but a lot will be fillers, extras in a crowd or group. Fact is I am barely able to handle one let alone two for a shoot. I have been looking at adding as I find and let the others come about in time. But I was never a patient one. I saw your photo on Flickr and thought I had a very similar coat to yours. But as you can see not really. Poor Momiji had to wear it for photos as his little sister is still headless. Momiji-Coat-1 by Marie, on Flickr This coat is purple, has a fuzzy lining and was manufactured, not hand made.
Thanks for the replies Teddy and Marie xxx It is comforting to hear that you have quieter characters too Teddy. I will 'fret less and enjoy more' having Jillian in the gang And I do have a coat by that maker of the coat that you 'forced' poor Momiji to wear Marie! Here is a quick snap of Susie (Ganga) wearing it. I can remember takes ages choosing what colours to have the coat made in. That shop no longer trades on Etsy now either.....shame.
@Jane I didn't notice a tag so couldn't be sure who made let alone when daughter got it. She joined me in hobby about my second year and was out of hobby by my fourth. Surprised she even had anything left as she asked me to well most of it. I Just started year number fourteen in hobby.
@animemom the jacket style that we both have came from a shop in Russia called 'NatZayShop'.....I went back and checked my purchase information on Etsy. I bought the purple jacket in December 2016 I just wish I had bought more while I could! And congratulations on entering your 14th year in the hobby! I am a long time member of the BJD world too......I bought my first one way back in 2004!
Then I would have got jacket from daughter in law. She purchased items from them. I tried and on my second order was ripped off. Her assistant was shipping partial and sometimes empty boxes and reselling items for her own profit. By the time it was stopped Etsy had shut them down. Sadly she was not able to gain back people's trust.
Oh my goodness! I never knew any of that history I bought from her three times and never had an issue at all! I guess I was lucky
Yes I was one of a few people that was complaining to Etsy about missing items from a order. I got a full refund eventually. It would have been faster if I had gone through Etsy instead of PayPal. Anyway I was sorry for her. She was going through a high risk pregnancy and her family was to busy to keep tabs on assistant.
