Doll Leaves Mini [45 cm] Discussion part 4

I'm waiting on a DL Steven, in stock from DDE. My first ever doll was actually Jeremy, and I've had Yoko, Kira, and I think a few others but I could be mis-remembering. I really wanted Royal because it's such a nice sculpt but maybe another day!

 

I was wondering what are the differences between girl body v1 and v2?

 

Version 1 has a three part body split under the chest and above the hips while version 2 is a two part body split under the chest. I don't think there's anything different about the limb joints.

 

Does anyone know what other hands fit doll leaves normal skin? Maybe dika?

 

I think resinsoul does. The only issue is they are slightly big on the dolls

 

Awww I like the gentle and soft look of hands, I would probably want a smaller and expressive ones

 

I can't help you with the resin match for NS since my doll is in white, but for size and fit Dika Doll hands work well IMO.

I was thinking of white skin tone, but I was sure that there will be more good matches with heads or hands in "normal" so I went with it looks like I made a mistake with the color ​

 

Don't despair! Being both affordable and well known for good posing, Doll Leaves bodies are popular for hybrids. I'm sure you can find some information on what companies match the NS if you dig around a bit.

 

Does anyone know which heeled feet by other companies would work best for a Doll Leaves girl with normal skin? I want to be able to put them in heeled shoes but I have zero experience with any sort of hybrids!

 

Hello! I just got my Doll Leaves Betty today. Is it normal for her strings to be so tight on one side of her body I can barely pose her, or is there something I need to try? Thanks!

 

If the doll is tighter on one side compared to the other it is possible that the knot is stuck somewhere and prevent the tension from evening out.
Is it the legs or the arms that have the problem?

 

It is mostly her right arm, but seems to be affecting that whole side of her body.

 

The most stright forward solution is probably to just restring the doll with the same elastic, making sure the knots end up in center of the torso cavity. That should even out any tension and make the doll pose evenly.
After that you can make a decision on if you like the tension- If she is too tight you may need new elastic, but since she is new, I'd wait a few weaks and see, since some elstic will relax a little with time.

 

Hey! I was wondering if anyone has purchased Louis. He's a doll I'm superrrr interested in, but am always hesitant to buy dolls without looking at owner's photos and reviews. More specifically if someone has him with the company faceup and has photos that would be amazing to see close up what that looks like!! (Trying to figure out if I'd buy him with the faceup or blank)

I had read on this thread awhile back that Dika hands work. I'm interested in buying new hands for my Doll Leaves girl too. I'm going to try the Dika hands, next time I order from Alice's Collections. They have a lot of expressive hand poses.

 

I purchased a doll leaves Pearl second hand market, and I really like their body! Can't wait for my yoko to arrive from Alice collection. I'm thinking which sculpt to get next from them!

 

I love it, this divine, the doll chateau bodies are great, they are definitely one of my favorites, I love their double joints, their legs, their little feet and their arms, I love the way their clothes look, I have bella and sometimes she wears barbie clothes and I love that.
they look great with the Doll in mind heads on those bodies.

 

I'm thinking about getting a Doll Leaves sculpt as my next doll purchase. I really like Wish, but I wish (haha) he came with human ears... I know they're easy enough to sand down, but the humid climate where I live is terrible for faceups so getting him blank for modding would be an issue. Oh well, I'll have to start with someone else first! DL makes so many cuties, it can be hard to pick!

 

I've been seeing very conflicting comments about this but could anyone show me how well/badly Doll Leaves normal skin matches with Fairyland's natural skin? I'm completely in love with their new Myth body and would love to get it for my minifee Honoka. I don't mind if I need to do a little blushing to make them truly match, just curious at how big the difference is.

I honestly wouldn't mind adding DS Leilia to my collection either since she looks super cute but at the moment I'm trying to finally get bodies for all my floating heads so that'll have to wait a little (only 4 more heads to go!). + I want to see owner pictures of her first since going through these threads (yes I read all previous 3 too ) I noticed that some of the dolls that didn't really appeal to me turned out really charming with custom face-ups and some I liked from the company pictures turned out to not have as nice sculpts as I initially thought once the fancy default faceup was removed.

 

@digi from the last year the resins do not match. The Fairyland NS resin is much darker than the DLs NS. I can see if I can get pics later.

You might be able to find minifees with DiM dolls? My DiMs (both NS and WS) almost match DLs perfectly.

 

I'm very curious about the new "myth" body.
Myth1/4 girl body-01,1/4 option part,Mysterious series-doll leaves

It looks a lot like their regular type 2 girl body but seems a little less lanky?
same height according to measurements though. But wider neck, wider shoulders, wider waist etc.

I really wonder if the regular dream girl heads would fit on it, because I love me some body variation.

Also, when did they release Kaylee? i totally missed that so she's new.

 

Sadly it seems that DiM closed in 2019 so that makes getting their bodies a bit harder. But even if the match is bad I'd love to see the comparison anyway, thanks! I'll probably end up grabbing the body anyway for another head though. It's simply too cute to completely pass

 

@purple_monkfish : I think Kaylee was released in late January - I discovered her at Denver Doll the last day her fullset was available there - February 1st, I think. I had been considering ordering the Lan fullset, but when I saw Kaylee ordered her. ^_^ It looks like Kaylee's fullset is still available at Alice's Collections.

 

I got my Doll Leaves Maya (second hand) full set today and was amazed at the poor quality of the clothes. It's obvious that the clothing matches the web site, but it's so cheap! Is this something that's been discussed before and I just missed it? His boots are nice.

That's a real bummer! Did the clothing fit poorly, or was the sewing not professionally done, or was the colour off? Just curious - I recently splurged on the Kaylee full-set. <worried>

I think a couple months ago, another member mentioned that Lan's outfit and wig weren't nearly as nicely made as shown in the promo photos. But that's the only mention of Doll Leaves clothing quality that I can recall. It is discouraging.

 

Maybe (hope, hope) they have improved. My Maya is from 2016. The sewing was not well done, the fabrics were cheap and the shortcuts were atrocious. For example, the "ruff" around his neck was a piece of cheap lace sewn to a piece of lace hem tape! Now it could very well be that I'm just a snob. I sew for my dolls and choose to use good materials (don't see much point in wasting my time on cheap stuff).

 

Well, I finally did it! I took advantage of a DDE gift certificate I was given for my birthday that was really burning a hole in my pocket, so to speak, and I ordered an Oscar with faceup I'm so excited! I can't wait to show him off when he gets here, he was in stock so he should be here soon! Anybody have any Oscars to show off?

Would anyone have a comparison between doll leaves NS and Myou doll skin tones? I have a doll leaves yoko in NS coming and have a Lan in white (it was bought second hand and it's fairly yellowed tho), and was wondering if I would get a myou doll and maybe yoko could use her hands. What myou color would fit the DL NS the closest?

 

I have a WS myou tiny and an incoming NS DL boy who should be delivered today. I can take a comparison shot when he gets here if you'd like, @forged_in_mess?

Maybe someone would have NS/pink Myou to compare with NS Doll leaves?

 

@forged_in_mess the WS Myou on the left is from 2017, and the NS Doll Leaves on the right is from late 2021. As you can see, even compared with yellowing DS normal skin is very light, so getting a Myou NS comparison will be critical here to determine if WS or NS Myou hands are your best bet. Good luck!!

A lovely soul on instagram helped me with DL NS and Myou NS and they are quite similar!

But I'm not sure if I like the Myou hands that much to order extra ones.

I found a comparison that doll leaves NS is similar to doll family h normal pink, so i got some hands in this color. Someone tried to hybrid doll leaves with doll family H hands?

 

Hmm I am considering ordering a body from Doll Leaves for my GanganDoll elf head, and after seeing the new "Myth" girl body, thinking of ordering that one. I've already tried this head on the "dream girl new body" of my Pearl, and it worked perfect, but this newer body has much bigger neck, so I don't know if it'll fit. I don't dislike my Pearl's body at all but I would appreciate the variety. (specially since I plan on also getting a Lan eventually)

 

I just got my new Doll Leaves Yoko from Alice collection. I as well own a new body Lan that I got second hand few months ago. My Lan has a logo plaque at the back of her head, but my new Yoko came without the plaque. Is it something that Doll leaves stopped doing?

 

I have a couple of heads on order. May I ask when you ordered yours? I wonder how long I need to wait.

 

I ordered through Alice collection on 14th of February and it was shipped 25th of April from China. Reached Germany in the middle of May.

I asked about waiting times from Alice collection for doll leaves and was told about 3 months. It's quite short wait.

 

I wondered if anyone received their Una in porcelain skin and could share some photos of her? I can see she's still available to order, and I am curious about that porcelain skin thing.

 

Dolly planet had Leilia in stock and I couldn't resist her any longer so I added the deer girl to my collection and she arrived today:

There's just one thing I'm a bit ??? about; Her horns. They have magnets to attach them to the head but the head doesn't have other magnets than the ones holding the headcap nor was there more magnets included so I could attach them to her wig instead so I can't put them on her. not a big deal since I wouldn't use them anyway but odd regardless.

Just got my Doll Leaves Ida, and she's so beautiful! Only thing is that her S-hook immediately chipped her wrist (it's tiny but still has me scared to move her hands!). Is this a common problem for Doll Leaves Dolls on the Dream Body? Or how to avoid it happening more? I wasn't moving it carelessly or in a crazy way, only within what seemed like it's normal range of motion. I'm also scared of the chip getting bigger so any advice is appreciated! This is my first MSD

 

Do you mean it chipped the channel or did it somehow damage any visible part? And was the chip in the fore arm piece or the hand piece? Pictures would help.
One thing that may have caused it is if the S-hook is too weak for the tension the doll is strung with. That can cause the hook to open up just slightly and either get stuck or scratch the inside of the channel. Is this what may have happened? If so, best thing is to replace the hook with a stronger one and as a temporary workaround you can string the doll a bit more loosely.

 

It was the outside of the wrist, a tiny chip on the edge. It's hard to see, which I'm glad for, but I circled it in the pic. Makes sense maybe she's strung too tight, because it doesn't seem like the hook should be able to chip it like this. Plus her arms are very kicky.

 

Aw, it won't allow me to do photos. I'm new to DOA so maybe that's why..

 

My doll leaves doll was my first, so part of it was due to my inexperience with restringing, but I also have had the same problem with both the wrists and the ankles. And yeah, the arms don’t pose nearly as well as my LUTS doll does, though sueding does help, especially with the shoulders.

 

Just copy the URL into the box that pops up when you click the "Image" tool. Make sure it's just the URL with nothing else added and the image should show up.

About the chip, if it's at the outside of the wrist it shouldn't have anything to do with the hook. Not sure what else may have happened. I have the older boy body and never had a problem like that. But I am not very familliar with the other bodies. Mine pose very well and did so right out of the box without any sueding. He is my best poser by far.
Seeing what tybaltstyddies just wrote, though, it does seem to be a known problem.

 

Thank you guys! Mine poses great her arms are slightly kicky, but only slightly. But when I say outside the wrist I mean it chipped a piece off the very edge of the wrist, clean through. It was the s hook because I saw it happen, unfortunately. I’m glad to know it’s a known issue though! I’ll just be extra careful with her wrists and ankles, and pose them/restring her very gently. I appreciate the help

I have just received my Doll Leaves Lan head and I love her, down to the little asymmetries on her nose and lips. Cutie!

I planned to hybrid her with Doll Chateau kid body, but before I ordered Lan I had already DC body in pink on order [planned for an entirely different doll]. And looks like DC pink and DL normal are not a good match I do have another DC body in peach though and they match almost perfectly! DL normal is just slightly more pinkish than DC peach [which is also pinkish but more "frosty".

No issues with the head hole vs neck size - it is just slightly bigger that DC kids head and a bit more wobbly. Nothing a rubberband around neck or a rubber pad can't improve.
I was afraid of the Lan head circumference [which is about 18.5cm] to be too big for the body, but it actually looks nice. It's the size of latest DC SD-sized released doll though soo

My Louis shipped after two and a half months today! Very excited to get him in, and so much sooner than I thought, I just got the shipping notice for the MYOU body I ordered for my DZ Benjamin like 2 days ago! Hopefully everyone else waiting on something gets shipping info soon

 

I got my Lan last week... my beautiful son!! He's so much slenderer than I thought he would be. I think once his arms are sueded he'll be a pretty good poser I love the hips! I love his looks!

I just need to figure out his eyebrows now.
