Yes. To me the eyes are the deal breaker. Eyes have to be alive looking. To me painting them is truly an art. BJD's eyes are much easier to make them come to life, for the glass, urethane or what ever you use do capture the light. But a true artist brings paper, canvas or plastic to life.

Thank you. Yes, the talent that some of the artists had made me consider the dolls as mini art works. I wish I did possess that talent, but I don't. The one time I tried, let's just say I have enough talent to recognize and to know I don't have the talent to repaint dolls and left that up to the professionals. Avoided ruining dolls that I'm sure were more than grateful to avoid that fate. I too am curious which ones did you decide to keep. My favorites factory ones were the Queen of hearts/Shauna and Cinderella.

My favorites on the Tonner dolls were by far Daphne and Sydney sculpts, had slews of both. I kept 5 Daphne's (Smoldering Seduction, Creme de le Creme, Crystal Celebration, Platinum Panache and Chantilly Charmant) and only 4 Sydney's remain (Imperiale, Holiday Gala, RTW Satin and Spellbinding). Only 2 Tylers remain (Signature Statement and Charmed). 2 Stellas remain (Far East 1 & 2). All of my Deeanna Dentons have remained (can't part with any of those yet) and my American Models have stayed (Confetti, Le Belle Grand, Rose, Ruby and Winter Solstice).

I still have my EG dolls and some Tiny Kitty's as well (which may be the next ones to go)

Maybe someday I'll actually get my BJD Sydney

 

Omg! Stella Far East 1 is on my list! Can’t find too many pictures of her on the internet tho from what I can see, I’d love her!

You saved some great ones. Yes. Sydney. Was the Best. She was the one that got me into Tonner. What a beautiful sculpt in my opinion. I always did want to add one of the Far East Stellas back then but never had the chance. Are your Deeanna Dentons the original Lara Croft body or the newer ones that look like regular tonner bodies but bigger chest piece? I did really like the Original ones. Tyler had original and Version 2. The original I learned to love and the V2, I did like from the start.

 

And agreed! Sydney and Daphne are two of the best sculpts he did. I also love Ashleigh.

 

I really do like his old sculpts. I know he is working on new ones, but I can't say I like them as much as I did his previous work. Tho I did get the Outlander dolls. Per chance I heard about them being sold.
Here is Jamie. I got a spare one so I could get him repainted but not sure who is even available now of my favorite artist.

And can I just say, that over the past couple of weeks I have been finding myself wanting one of the 18" My Imagination dolls that Tonner did (brunette version). I think mostly because I've been playing around with the 18" dolls I do own (rearranging and redressing) that is making me want one. Not going to lie - every time I go to Wal-mart or Target, I find myself checking out the My Life as and Our Generation dolls!

Yes. I loved the Original Deeanna Denton. Blond or Brunette? Sorry I"m so full of questions. Just excited.

And that Ashleigh is one of my favorite doll of hers. I love that dress. But you need to be careful. It actually stained one of my Mei Li's. She is such a beauty.

Far East Stella is indeed a Grail. She's a beauty.

PS. Wasn't that Sleeping Beauty dress great? I loved it. Just wish that her original hair was a tad different shade of blond and much longer. Reason why I had my own done.

 

Omg she’s gorgeous! That face! I’m assuming Ityll take me years to find her too. Far East #2 is listed twice on eBay for for like $400 maybe but I found one for $200. She IS on my list tho of dolls to sell so I can buy more BJD’s. Haha and I have the Stella sculpt in Alyce for re-imagination and I absolutely love her. She was well worth the wait

oh wow. That Tonner Belle is just wonderful. love everything about her. I hadn't seen her before. I didn't get any tonner Big ones. But she is fabulous. I have a little 16" Cinderella with the hmmm. geez, I can't remember the name of it. It's been so long. But one that wasn't her regular body. I have her as my Belle. No pics tho. Thank you for sharing that Belle.

@Mu Shu: I like the Wellie Wisher dolls the best! (I don't have one). I have bought plenty of the OG accessories from Target for my BJD''s! Check out the OG scooter for SD size! That size clothing also fits the BB (Big Baby) Ball-Jointed Dolls, which I have one.

 

Omg! She’s on my list! Not too many more but she’s one of them. I’m hoping for her in the dress but even nude would be hard to come by. I’m glad you have her! It’s good to see pics of my grails since most are limited editions so there doesn’t seem to be many pics to go by from on the internet. Do you have anymore pics up close?

 

I don't and she's boxed up, otherwise I could readily snap a pic. This one is on the web, but it doesn't do her justice. Her eyes are very blue, her hair is brown (not black).

Daphne is a beauty, there were three I was looking for before I found this one: Metro Doll Iris Daphne, Mirror Mirror Daphne, and Cannes Opening Daphne.

 

Does anyone know about this doll? Or clothing? Or the photo next to her, who is it?

Yaaaaasss!!! Canned opening is the only other Daphne on my list. I somehow by the grace of god found metros garden party iris and she’s one of my favorite things. I put the poor thing through the ringer cuz I wanted to swap her head onto a Tyler body. The first hard part was finding the color. Under Dreamcastle’s Tonner reference guide it wasn’t listed so the woman and I guessed either lily or cameo so I first tried lily, didnt match, then cameo, matched mostly but still off. Then when I swapped her, the Tyler body’s neck was too thick so the head didn’t sit right. lol and I cracked the neck on her original body so wanted to replace that. After that I tried another swap with a similar Antoinette body and that didn’t work either. Her heads back on her original body, can’t see the crack really (will one day find a replacement body that’s not cracked) BUT I FINALLY found her dress after months and she looks so frikkin beautiful. Scarred neck and all. It all paid off after on the end haha

 

Yes! This is Cannes opening! I love her. The picture is Elizabeth Taylor and I want to say the dress is red silk thread. I bought a OOAK dressed Ashleigh doll on eBay and she had the same earrings and the dress looks well made. Plus she took beautiful photos of her dresses so if I had to guess, I’d say that.

 

One of the things I love most about this doll is her thick eye brows! Not many Daphnes like that so I feel it makes her more rare

 

@AdamJScott79: Oh no!! I think we've all had our head/body change fiascos! Are you talking about the Dreamcastle dolls reference page where they list the dolls by body style and color? That site is an invaluable help!

Thanks for the help...that photo just didn't click for me as Liz Taylor, but now I see it. I found an old file I had of Tonners I was looking for and realized that when I stopped collecting them (at 25 count) some faves had not been found...

I have never seen the Far East Stella sculpt, she is incredible 0_0 She reminds me a little bit of Rachel Weisz 'The Mummy' era, just gorgeous.

@stellarphenomena - beautiful Daphne and I love how "in scale" Tonner jewelry is for dolls. I would also like to have the Mirror Mirror Daphne. I don't have any of the Wellie Wishers, I do really like Kendell, but so far have managed NOT to get another doll size collection going I've tried some of the My Life as doll clothes on my Big Baby dolls and for the most part, dresses work pretty well. Pants and shirts are quite big though.

She's Princess of Paradise Island. I bought her nude so I could custom style her. I loved her long wavy hairstyle.

 

OH yeah. That Jak's has to be one of the most beautiful ones I've seen and she looks perfect in that Sleeping beauty's outfit.

They look great in those clothes. And yeah. Mirror Mirror Daphne is one of the best. I was lucky enough to find a nude one years ago 2nd hand. Even then she was hard to find.

I do like Tyler 2.0 and yours is a prime example of the why's. I, in some instances like her better than the original Tyler. Yours is a beauty. Love her in that blue dress.
