Angell Studio KiD 1/4 Discussion Part 1

Lol, when I say a lot I mean 4-5, but that's a lot compared to some other companies I own dolls from. No one I know owns DreamingDoll or Mirodoll, at least not as far as I'm aware of

 

I think 4-5 from one company is a fair amount to be honest. I have 8 dolls so the fact I have 3 from some companies is a lot for me. So I see your logic.

 

Whoops, sorry. I meant 4-5 people (although I do have 4 dolls from AS myself and my friend will soon have 3). More than one from a company is a lot for most people though

 

Oh OK, well that is still more people then I know.

I saw lots of your Dina as I was reading through the thread here, gives me a little bit of an idea of the direction my doll may end up. Actually, the faceup I'm hoping to go with may even be darker than yours I'm a big fan of that edgy type of look. Hope to order early next week with a friend of mine who's going to get a pair of AS's tinies.

 

Oh that is awesome actually. I was going for Cyber Goth with mine so I know it is not super dark but it was the look I wanted for her. I am sure you will like her when get her though because she is so pretty.

 

Getting extra excited now - order is in, just gotta pay later today or tomorrow. Only have a detail or 2 to work out first

That will be cool, I haven't seen many of her about. I don't think I had to wait too long with AS though.

 

I'm confused... I used to have a Leira and I remember thinking how huge her head was compared to other MSDs. Mint on Card says her head size is 18.8cm. So when I read that Aaron and Dina's head size are 19.3cm, I figured they must be even bigger... but when I saw Aaron at Think Pink a while ago, his head seemed small next to my Unoa..! How can that be? Are these measurements so wrong?

The thing is, I'm looking for a head for a body that's in between MSD and SD size.. and I thought Dina would be perfect for it if her head's even more huge than Leira's was, but I fear I can't trust the measurements MoC gives us..?

I just got a Dina yesterday and I adore her! I have a lot of work to put into her, but I'm up to the challenge to turn her into my character Elandril.


Here she is as she looks now. She'll be more of a dark elf, so she's getting a white wig and red eyes. The wig I already ordered and will be cutting to make it the style I want it to be for her. She'll also have a lot of scars in her face. No sweet and innocent here!

 

Elandril got her wig and I promptly cut it to look like this. I'm rather proud!

 

So... I NEED another AS girl (used to own Amy)... I liked Amy but she's such a sweet serene looking girl (plus she has an open mouth with teeth which I hate on dolls) and for the character I'm making, the doll needs to be a sarcastic bad ass looking girl. I was looking at Aaron and thinking he could be made into a girl... AS put a boy head on a girl YOSD body for me so I'm wondering if they'd do that for Aaron... I'm going to play in photo shop to see if I can "paint" him to look how I want... but after seeing this picture on Google, I'm thinking he could easily become a girl: http://static.diary.ru/userdir/8/7/5/8/875825/79919418.jpg (not my photo, just found it on a search). Not sure if the doll pictured is a boy but he looks like he could be face upped to look like a girl...

I just remember that body and man that resin... AS needs to make some more mature realistic looking MSDs.

 

I always thought Aaron would make a pretty girl actually!! My doll plabs changed but I too wanted an Aaron girl once ^^

 

Yay, I'm not crazy lol. Thought his head looked a bit too masculine blank but I'm sure with eye lashes, wig, etc he'd look like an awesome girl. Definitely looking at him and Thea. Not sure which I'll get. Going to get translucent pink though for sure. I'm so excited. I'll be a while before I can buy it though.

 

I was thinking Thea would also be a good choice!

 

Ela has her proper face up finally, now just to wait for her eyes.

So... I am a long time admirer of AS dolls, but recently I fell in love with Cygnus... I am surprised she's received so little attention. Does anyone else like her or better yet has anyone ordered her? I love both the sleeping and open eyed versions, I think her chubbier face is amazing. I want to order her but I was hoping to see owner pics first but I can't even find any mention of someone ordering her...

 

Affinite, I haven't seen any pics on DoA, but check the Angell-Studio Flickr. They have a lot of photos of their dolls restyled including some photos from Chinese collectors. I'm pretty sure I saw photos of Cygnus there although I'm not 100% sure.

Hello! I thought I would share this pic of my Nisshou (Zhi Yu LE2010-her friend Tristin is seated nearby).

My doll club recently visited a Japanese Tea House in MI.

I know her costume isn't Japanese but it sure is pretty [emoji76]

I bought her as a full set and she was my 2nd BJD [emoji308]

Hiya. I'm just wondering why these dolls only appear to be in one skin colour on Angell Studio's website, yet on Mint on Card, there are a variety of tones. Is this something unique to being a dealer or..? Are certain skintones limited?

Edit: Also is it recommended to go through a dealer?

 

Most of the dolls are available in multiple skin tones on the Angell-Studio site. The available skin tomes are listed across under the price range, When you select a skin tone, the price of that skin tones will be shown, They are very helpful. If you want a skin tone not listed, ask at the bottom of the page. I like ordering directly from Angell-Studio. They even email you pictures of the face-up for approval!

I'm so excited! I finally caved in and contacted Angell Studio about Cygnus, who some may remember I've been eyeing for some time... Not only are they going to let me purchase a Cygnus head over a layaway, but they are going to custom match her skin tone to another company body I already have! I have nothing but good things to say about this company. I've never experienced such quick communication from any other company. We exchanged eleven emails in one evening, usually I'm lucky to get a reply once a day for most companies! I'm very, very impressed.

Now the waiting game... hopefully I can pay off my layaway quickly!

I ordered Mandarava ver2/y a few months ago, and AS just mailed me photos of her beautiful face to confirm the faceup!! I cannot wait to have her home.

My Mandarava came in, and I finally decided on a wig for her. I think she's one of the most beautiful dolls I've ever seen I'm so happy to have her.

Thank you so much! it took me quite a while to decide on her wig. I liked how she looked in red, but I wanted her to look more subdued, so I figured blonde would be a better color for that. I like this effect.

I feel like AS MSDs aren't posted very often, which seems sad to me I hope there are many other pretty Mandaravas out there though! I think this girl is my favorite doll.

I've got to post some pics of my Amy girl, Cecilia. Has anyone else run into trouble photographing their AS translucent-resin dolls? Every time I give it a go, something about her looks off, almost...unnatural. Maybe the posing...is it just me? Does anyone have this problem or have any suggestions? I just need to go into the yard someday with her in tow and PRACTICE!

 

Has anyone here seen the new 2016 1/4 body (female) in person ? Im wondering if it is as amazing as it looks in the pictures.

 

@RaineFournier - Thank you I'd love to see your Amy My Mandarava (Elia) is a solid resin, so I unfortunately can't really answer your question there.

My Gus is here and all my nerves about him are gone! The translucent resin is so nice and so pretty, he's bald and naked and has no face, but I already can't stop taking pictures of him
