UPDATE: 10/06/19 Reopening after a long hiatus. • ABOUT ME • Hello, I am Jes, also known as Affinite! I have been in the ball jointed doll collecting hobby for over ten years, and started modifying my own shortly after--I started small, at first, but I've worked my way up to where I am today over the years. I have learned that I most enjoy working on doll bodies rather than heads and I like large scale mods better than small projects. I love working with my dremel and figuring out new projects. I have also learned that I am VERY picky about the posability of my dolls. After many stressful experiences trying to sell and hybrid doll bodies I was unsatisfied with, I finally got the bright idea to modify the ones I have until I am happy with them. I also learned that I really enjoy and am rather good at transgender mods, which has become a focus for me as of late. There are still a lot of things I want to learn to do and I have a lot of dolls of my own to play and experiment with so I will be offering more and more services as time goes on! Unfortunately, I also have a chronic illness that can sometimes interfere with my work or slow me down. Please be patient with me if this happens, I promise I will finish your lovely doll when I can. For more information, please check out my website. BEFORE contacting me about a commission, please make sure you have read and agree to my commission policy at the bottom of this thread. When you confirm a commission spot with me, you are agreeing to abide by all of my terms. At this time, I do not require a deposit for commissions accepted through Den of Angels and as long as everyone continues to be lovely and responsible it will remain this way. Thank you! •SERVICES AND PRICING• Here is a list of some basic things I can do and their prices. If you are interested in a mod I don’t have listed, feel free to contact me! You can also contact me if you are frustrated with the posing of your doll but don’t know exactly what needs to be done to fix it. We can discuss things together and find out how to get what you want out of it. NOTE: For dolls over 60cm I may charge a small, 10% fee for the added difficulty. I do this reluctantly after much frustration in the past with the added work, materials, and time that comes from working on larger dolls. I’m very sorry for any inconvenience. -Modifications- SERVICES THAT ---LOOK LIKE THIS--- ARE DISCONTINUED FOR NOW BUT I MAY TAKE THEM IN SPECIAL CASES. ---Torso Split: $70-$100 Convert a one part torso into a two-part torso, or a two-part into a three-part.--- •Torso Support Piece Mod: Modify or creating a part to stabilize a two or three part torso. This is difficult to do and I do not always get an exact match, but it will be much closer than the default gray epoxy used in un-tinted mods. -Maintenance- •Removing a faceup: $15 ($8 with other work.) •Removing body blushing: $30 ($20 with other work) •Eye beveling: $25 (on average but may vary) •Sueding: Hot glue: $6 ---Faux Suede: $15-$20--- •Wiring: $10 •Seam sanding: $20 •Restringing: $15 (non-human shaped dolls priced on case by case basis) --•Deyellowing: $25-$100 (depends on the work needed.) Note: There are many methods for this, and we will need to discuss the best method to help your doll. Not all dolls can be completely saved, but most can at least greatly reduce resin yellowing.-- MY TURNAROUND TIME FOR MAINTENANCE IS GOING TO DEPEND ON WHAT YOU WANT, MOST THINGS I CAN COMPLETE IN ONE TO TWO WEEKS BUT SOMETIMES I NEED LONGER DEPENDING ON HOW MANY THINGS YOU ASK FOR. I WILL LET YOU KNOW. FOR MODIFICATIONS, I WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO TELL YOU A TURNAROUND TIME, I’M SORRY! IT’S JUST THAT EACH CASE IS SO DIFFERENT THAT I CAN NEVER REALLY TELL HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE. IT TAKES AS LONG AS IT TAKES–SOMETIMES A RATHER LONG TIME, SO KEEP THAT IN MIND! I’LL DO MY BEST TO GIVE YOU HIGH QUALITY WORK AND GET YOUR DOLLS HOME TO YOU SAFELY. • TOOLS AND MATERIALS • Dremel brand rotary tool with assorted bits Electric nail file Coping saw, mini hack saw, and keyhole saw Dollmore filing tools Dollmore ear piercing drill Assorted Kemper sculpting, carving, and shaping tools Assorted sand papers X-acto knife Apoxie Sculpt Apoxie Sculpt Super White Polymer clay and acrylic paints (for tinting epoxy) Assorted Master and Luts brands eye bevelers Winsor and Newton Brush Cleaner and Restorer Magic erasers Hot glue gun Aileene’s Tacky Glue
Wiring Posability Examples- Different bodies yield different results with wiring and sueding. Here are some of the things that the dolls I've wired in the past have been able to do! Limhwa Mini: Delf Type 2 Boy Body Note: He is on a stand here. Note: On a stand. Leeke SD sized Boy Body Note: He is on a stand Note: On a stand
Other Work: Old Volks Wrists and Ankles Mod The old, original volks bodies had ball joints that were glued in at the wrists/hands and ankles/feet, and they were attached by string instead of s-hooks. Here is a body I worked on--I separated the wrists and hand, and the ankles and feet, so it could do more detailed hand and feet poses. I also was able to replace the string with s-hooks. BEFORE AFTER
My Commissions PolicyI'm adding this here since the rules now require it! If you commission me, it is automatically understood that you have read and agree to all of the terms listed below. More terms may be added at any time so make sure to read them every time you commission me. • GENERAL TERMS • When you contact me about a maintenance commission I will try to estimate a turnaround time for the job. This time is not a guarantee. There's always a chance that it will take longer. It depends on things like the weather (because I often work outdoors) and whatever hurdles life may throw at me. I will try to get it done sooner rather than later, but never at the expense of quality work. In the case of modification commissions, I will no longer estimate a turnaround time. Every doll and situation is different and it can be unpredictable. I will finish when I can while keeping my work at it's best quality, and you will receive your modified doll or parts when it is done. I will do my best to stay in communication with you throughout the process and provide progress photos at any time you request it. Please accept that it may take a long time. Due to complications of my health in living with a chronic illness, there may be stretches of time where I can not work on your doll. Please be patient if this occurs, I promise to get to it when I recover. The price I quote you at the start is for the amount of work apparent to me at the time of request. At times, commissions may not be as straight forward as they seem and more work than discussed may be necessary to achieve the results you want. I will always contact you right away when a situation changes in this way, to discuss how to handle it and any changed prices. I strive to do the very best quality work that I can and make your dolls look professional and aesthetically pleasing. That said, I am still a human being, not a machine, and there may be tiny scratches, discolorations, or imperfections in the work. I try to keep these to a minimum. These kinds of minor imperfections are not cause for a dispute. In the unlikely event that I make a larger error, such as a deep scratch or break, I will repair it to the best of my ability and discount your final total accordingly. In the case that you request modifications I haven't done before, I make no guarantees on the outcome of the product. I promise to do my very best to accept commissions only if I feel confident I can handle the task and I will do all I can to make it my best quality work. Please understand that this does not mean the end result will always be flawless. If you are unhappy with my work please contact me to discuss what I can do to help you feel satisfied. I rely on your feedback to know how I am doing and how I can improve the quality of my service. To better facilitate a smooth transaction I will need to know your doll or part's exact starting condition. Please be sure to fully disclose the presence of a faceup or blushing, any previous modifications, sanding, scratches, damage, yellowing, discolorations, or anything else you think may be relevant. If you fail to disclose relevant information, even if it's because you didn't know about it, I'm not to be held responsible for any resulting complications that may occur. In commissioning me, you grant me full rights to photograph and publicly document your doll or parts on my blog, portfolio, and other work related areas in the way of my choosing. I will never claim ownership of any doll that does not belong to me. All photos and documentation of your doll or parts will only be used to showcase and discuss my work. I will not accept any commissions on illegal recast dolls. If I discover a doll or part I have been sent is a recast, I will send it home immediately in whatever condition it is in at the time of discovery. If no work has been done on the doll yet, I will refund you your deposit minus the cost of return shipping. If I have already begun work on your recast at the time of discovery, your deposit is forfeit. I reserve the right to refuse any commission for any reason. • PAYMENT TERMS • If commissioning me outside of Den of Angels, you must pay a 50% deposit up front to reserve your time slot. The remaining balance + return shipping is due upon completion. Please pay with paypal unless other arrangements are made prior to the commission. Please contact me to discuss what other payment methods I accept. I do also accept trades! I will trade for high quality services such as custom faceups, custom doll clothing, wigs, and accessories… please contact me to discuss possible service trading. I always need pieces for practice, so resin dolls and parts may be acceptable trades depending on what you have. I may also accept trades for pre-made doll clothes, wigs, accessories, etc. Can’t hurt to ask! The trade value of your item will be dependent on market value, condition, and how much I feel it is worth. If we can not agree on a trade value a trade will not take place. I will trade my services to match the value of the item BUT I will not pay money for anything, only services, so please do not ask for +money on my end. I reserve the right to refuse a trade for any reason. Please Note: I’m very sorry, I am not interested in ANY items made of or containing real fur, leather, silk, suede, bone, or other materials which harm animals. Any animal products contained in trade items must be confirmed to be cruelty free. Sorry for any inconvenience! In the unlikely event you are unable to pay the rest of your total once I have completed the work, I will hold on to your doll or parts for you until your remaining payment is complete. I will never ask for any penalty payments or other hidden charges for late payments, I just ask that you pay as soon as you can. I understand things can happen. • SHIPPING TERMS• Once you have confirmed that you have a slot with me, I will give you my address and you may send your doll or parts to me within the time frame we have discussed. I will let you know specifically which parts I will need to complete your request, and you are only required to send those parts. You are welcome to send the full doll if you are not comfortable taking them apart but know that it may cost more to ship that way. You are responsible for the cost of shipping both ways. Return shipping is Priority Mail unless you specify otherwise. I do not add insurance by default, so please ask me to add insurance to your price if you want it, I will be happy to do so. I will return your doll in the same packaging you sent it in unless other arrangements are discussed. If for some reason I am unable to reuse this packaging I will contact you to discuss how you would like me to pack it. Please pack very well when you ship your doll or parts. If you are ordering insurance, make sure you have access to some kind of proof of value (such as a paypal receipt) and to check with your post office for packaging requirements for insured packages. There are strict guidelines on packaging that must be adhered to if insurance is to be redeemed. I am not responsible for any damage or loss that occurs during shipping. •WAITLIST TERMS• I currently do not have a waitlist but this is subject to change. If you contact me with a tough or time consuming request and I don’t have the room for you, you will have the choice to be put on the wait list until I finish some of my current workload. Your place on the wait list is is a confirmed time slot reserved just for you, which includes communication through the process of the wait if needed, and managing my workload to make room for your specific commission requests. It is for serious clients only, and you must be willing to put down a nonrefundable $10 deposit that will go toward your total for the work when it’s time. If you change your mind, the deposit is forfeit. How long will you wait? I don’t have a number, I’m sorry, but I’m going to try to get these commissions done in a reasonable time. I will let you know as soon as a slot opens up for you. The names on my wait list are private for the privacy of my clients, but if you ask I will let you know how many people are ahead of you on the list. Once it’s your turn, you will have ten days to ship your doll or parts to me. If you fail to send them within this time, your slot will be bumped back down to the wait list and someone else will be prioritized. If a sale or promotion is going on and your order meets the requirements, you will still qualify as long as you book your spot on the wait list while the promotion is in effect, even if the promotion period passes before your time slot is available.
