Are there any nude body photos? The girls look very small-waisted (or very large-busted). On 7/20 they go back to the normal price of 1060 yuan. And you may not be able to just convert the yuan cost to dollars to know the US price. I don't know if Chinese companies have to pay export fees or for some other reason have to charge more to foreign countries, but the dollar prices for Chinese companies' products are sometimes higher than the Chinese price converted to dollars. Oh you too, eh? I have a serious weakness for teeth....O_o Why is that? XD As for price... I guess it would be interesting to compare the Chinese Yuan price of Monica and Cain to the 1/4 dolls... Didn't the Monica and Cain sets sell for like 600 USD for the pair of them via WaWa Station? I guess I'd better get off my duff and go look... *EDIT* I looked and it said 510 USD for the pair *without* makeup. And I think (if I read the site correctly) it said 110 USD for makeup on the pair. I couldn't find the shipping price though. *EDIT #2* On the Chinese website it says 1580 Yuan for Cain, Monica is 1550. Or well there's a number there that I'm assuming is the price. Yes, I am such a brainiac. ^_~ *EDIT #3* (LOL) xe says 1580 Yuan is 210 USD. *EDIT #4* (Last one I promise) Okay so according to my probably quite faulty math, and comparing to the prices of the 1/3rd BJD via Wa Wa Station, my guess is the 1/4 AS kids will be about 200 USD each (without shipping)? That would be a steal, really! Raven
My Monica was very nice quality too. No seamlines and very pretty. Her knees are unusual in how they lock, but I've come to grow used to that. And the HANDS were just stunning. I hope they're as nice on the 1/4 dolls. I will take some time to say that I DID have some issues when I ordered my Monica, though. They shipped the set of two that me and my friend ordered to the wrong person, and sent us that person's Cain instead. The reimbursed us for shipping to get our dolls to the right place after the fact, though. And the stringing was also REALLY loose. The first thing me and my friend had to do was restring our dolls. It was so bad that my friend's doll's head wouldn't stay on, it was just that loose. Hopefully the company has resolved those problems by now, though. I REALLY like these 1/4 girls, and want to order myself one...
Is 18cm really big for 1/4 girls' busts? Cuz Vera looks... busty for a 1/4 girl, or maybe it's just the photo ><
The Dollzone girls have a bust measurement of 18cm. The MNFs have a bust measurement of 17cm. Angel of Dream girls have a bust measurement of 19cm. So Vera isn't outside the normal range for a more mature 1/4 scale girl.
Elf dolls? Whoo, can't wait! I really really really like the body sculpt, and the way their resin glows. Is that French resin?
@tyviris - thanks soooooooooo much for the comparisons!!! great help!!! and you also mention the knee joint problem... gosh, it's worst for the boy body? *face-palm* oh dear!!! wait, as far as i can see you must have gotten the normal skin colour similar to Volks right? anyway, congrats on the girls!!! ^_^
LadyKnight - You're welcome and thank you thank you for the comments. The normal skin colour matches volks really really well to the point that I'm considering buying another girl body in the future just in case I get a rolling volks msd head. Hopefully these minis won't be discontinued anytime soon. WingedGoddess - Eh?! The SDs had the same problems too? I didn't know that. I'm kinda sad that they didn't fix these problems either now. I hope they fix these problems in their future dolls.
Thank you all for the sweet comments! I am so happy with her. It is time she gets her own body and clothes soon. I hope the website gets open soon, so you all can get these cuties. Yep, the eyes are Dollmore F10 16mm. I ordered them special for Vera They are the most energetic acryles eyes I know. But these eyes comes in high domes only and I feel they won't fit very well. I sometimes have to be careful placing them without you get a peek in her head. And it looks like she matches the Latidoll resin on the pictures. Well, both are very light skintones. The lighting in my room and my camera can't capture it. Even my eyes sometimes thinks it matches. I would say a 80% match. @ LadyKnight: I hope to get some comparison pics on 18 August. I'm going to meet a bunch of fellow country members. Good news is that one DoD owner told me that it looks like it would match
I have a few questions, hopefully someone here can help me. @__@ Does anyone know what "Extinction to protect for body (include head)" option means? It's under blushing, but I don't know how that would protect it. Second, in the cart it says "The order can offset score:338;Offset Rate:2 Your Score:0. Enter the offset score:". What does that mean? Lastly, I'm not sure what my shipping area is- I'm in Toronto. I tried searching to avail. Sorry about all the newbie questions, this is going to be my first doll purchase. ^^;
They mention in their Doll Care Guide that the "extinction spray" is a protective coating. Don't know about the other questions, though.
@fishiestix - awesome! i've been wondering what that meant too and thought that it might be a special coating... but why would they want another coating if they've the UV coat already? would that be something like MSC?
In the "Extinction to protect for body (include head)" option, Extinction is a kind of method to tend and protect the body which will keep the body from degradation. Or we can say to slow down the degradation of the body. "The order can offset score:338;Offset Rate:2 Your Score:0. Enter the offset score:". This is a system for earning your score which can used to change for goods! If you order the products through your ID on the website, you will earn some score which differs with different products. The socre would be useful! I hope my answer could help you!~
I got the DoC skintone^^ Yeah, the AoD are realy more mature sculpted. I think gus fits more a boyish body. I found the girl body a bit to small for my Vera head.
Good luck with her arrival too. Unfortunately one of my Veras came with a large scratch under her nose. Thankfully, I was planning to sand my Veras noses eitherway so I didn't really mind the damage. This may be bad news for people who do mind though. After hearing about your experience with Angell-Studio, I'm sure the company would've handled my Vera's situation well if I did report it though.
I think my vera head came from the same batch as yours. She got that scratch under the nose too, but it is barly noticable. It looks like a hair got in the mold or something. I didn't report it either as I said, it is not disturbing. She got a very light skintone and with a faceup you won't see a thing ^^. I only saw the scratch when I was inspecting her nose holes
My Vera is great, so far. I love the way she poses -- MUCH better than the AS Monica does. I was worried about disliking her, but I've found myself quite happy so far. They didn't glue her eyes in, but then again, I didn't order a faceup, so that may have something to do with it. As for the scent, she has a faint vanilla scent...... Personally, I like it better than the resin smell. At first I thought her stringing was a little looser than I like, but now that I've gotten used to it, it's actually perfect -- She poses well without being too terribly floppy. And the quality of the string itsself is much better than it was in my AS Monica. Still no pics up, yet, though, I want to finish her faceup first and put her back together. One thing I'll say, though: Her resin does NOT match Volks'. That's ok with me, really, because I bought a full doll and don't need a perfect match, but it may not be so cool for someone hoping to buy just a head or body.....
winged goddess > could it be that the resin colour doesn't match cos one is french and one is urethane? and looks like others vera are posing better than mine XD I love her, but her knees buckle backwards a bit too easily, and her waist keeps snapping backwards and bites my hand ;-; hotglue sueding helped just a bit >w<
*nods nods* AS pink (1/4 dolls) and DOD skintone seems to match pretty well though not an exact one... slight blushing will work... though i don't think it's really noticeable... maybe we should let AS people know... XD
Well, the resin color between AS and DOD is similar, although not complete identical. When I compare my Kaito (Adam) to Takumi (H Ducan), the hue is about the same, but Adam is slightly more pink. However, Takumi has been with me since May, so his color may have faded. Here is a picture however, due to lightly and this light shade of pink does not photograph well So, when you are taking pictures you will not able to see the difference. Just a note, the color of Kaito is not all the same throughout his body, some parts are lighter some parts are darker. HOWEVER, the difference is subtle, so do not worry, if you are not paying attention it will not be noticed. As far as the body is concerned, the following is what I have noticed: 1. The Body of AS is shorter and slightly slimmer (has a slightly bigger hip, though LOL) 2. The thickness of the resin is less, thus the entire doll is lighter. 3. Since the thickness of the resin less, locations at the ends of each tubular parts - i.e. the wrist and ankle MAY chip in the future after time....... But if you are careful, it probably will not happen. 4. The dolls stands well. But has a strange pose when sitting. He cannot sit up straight (now that I have him, I can notice this funny pose in the pictures posed on AS Web. If you go to see the picture of Dana sitting with Kana, see how Dana's back is about 45 degree from the floor, that is what I am talking about. This kinda bothers me....) 5. The sculpt of the hands is simple - more Anime style. The lines are simple as compare to those of Takumi, who has much more defined lines (meaning more realistic hands with the structures of the bones more apparent. However, this is a personal preference since I love hands. ) Overall, it is a well made doll for the value.
anavel has kindly do a comparison but i've just managed to post the thread for comparison with a few other dolls... AS comparison with others...
and anyway, before someone missed this because i only posted the link at the AS Waiting Room... Alexius is finally home!!! http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166249
just popping a question into here... i've measured Gus' head and it came up to 18cm instead of 19cm... i guess that's cause Gus' head is a lil smaller compared to Vera and Leira... so the thing is, my Alexius' head comes up to 7 inch, ok about 7.08 inch, just past the mark... the thing is, i've tried a 7/8 Leeke wig on him and it kinda "eats" him up, as you can see at his Box Opening thread... maybe it's just the style of the wig but yea it just gobble his small head... >_> i was wondering if a 6/7 wig might work on him instead... anyone knows companies with stretchy 6/7 wigs? or maybe there're 7/8 wigs which are quite small also... @windspiel - did you tried on any other MSD wigs on Arjuna? saw him over at your LJ and looks like it's the wig AS sent... u_u
Oh, sneaky Yes, I did try another Leeke-wig on him (it was supposed to be his default wig) and it was slightly lose. However, it seems that Leekewigs in general might be slightly lose (they are on my MNF Shiwoo, also). I haven´t had a wig with elastic before, so I was very surprised at how well the one Angell-Studio sent fit. I think it looks best for now, so I left it. Although it´s kind of late, here are two pics of my little ghost: for how to remove the glue: Tony told me the best way would be to very carefully shave the glue away and then to cautiously push his eyes inward while facing him... I guess I´ll go with that, since I´m afraid to somehow melt his faceup or something >.>
well some people here have pointed out about Leira's nose also being a little uneven or something... you could either sand the nose a little yourself or ask someone to help... Leira's really sweet and would love to see what character you could bring out of her... but if the nose issue might bother you, you should think carefully... unless you don't mind about the nose... go ahead! but ask around first before deciding... i'm sure there others here who could give better explanation than me about the nose...
I was awoken by the doorbell this morning; Leira (mine) and Vera (my friend's) had finally arrived. She's my first BJD. @w@ Posing them is a little frustrating because their limbs keep snapping into bent positions, but I hope sueding will fix that. I don't find Leira's nose uneven, though it is rather pointy. I might sand it down a bit. Anyway, on to pictures! Leira on the left, Vera on the right, both in their default eyes and wigs AS sent. And draped in cloth because I don't have clothes yet. ^^;
LadyKnight opened the Mini-database here A studio of Mini Angells Put ur dollieeeees!!! Wanna see theeeeem xDD
Looking back at this comparison with the AS girl body, it seems they've added a piece to the torso that gets rid of that gap when she slouches. Here's mine, for example- No idea how recent that change is, maybe it was just the urethane bodies that missed out on it?
I'm so sorry to make a new thread for this question... but I didn't saw the answer anywhere. ^^;; I would like to know if the resin of Angell-Studio matches Bluefairy's, if it's possible to put an AS head on a BF body (and the other way too)... If someone knows, or even have pictures of how it matches (if it does), it would really help me ! Thanks in advance~
I don't know about the colour match, but Angell Studio uses French Resin, so it might look a little bit odd, even if the colours match.
Angell Studio is available in both French and normal resin. I think this is a comparison between Lati normal, Volks (Pureskin?), and Angell Studio normal non-French resin. The person who did the comparison says the best lighting is in the first photo before the daylight got dimmer. "The Angell-Studio urethane normal is more yellow than Volks." http://www.webcomicsnation.com/starbolins/COMP02.php If you have a new normal skin Blue Fairy head, that resin is supposed to be quite peachy/pinky so I don't think it would match Angell Studio. You might try to find a comparison between Lati Blue and Bluefairy. Lati blue is a bit peachy/pinky but may be too light. Or you could get the perfect mature match for a girl - Bluefairy Blossom Body. If you have old skin Bluefairy, there are at least two Bluefairy hybrids here - one with Volks and one with Kid Delf. Go here are do Search This Thread for: Bluefairy (I also tried "blue fairy", "tiny fairy", bftf but no matches for those) http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124851 Since the Volks seems to match what is probably oldskin Bluefairy, you might be able to use an SDCute body with oldskin Bluefairy? Or maybe the Angell Studio would work? One other yellowish resin is Dollzone normal "yellow" but I am not sure how you get normal yellow vs normal pink (most shops just say normal or white). And this may be helpful if you don't know which resin you have - comparison between Bluefairy old and new resin: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116156 Interestingly, the older head also looks larger than the newer one, so that might affect what bodies will be proportional with either head. Note - I have no idea about neck fit, other than the two hybrids at one of the links above. Carolyn
The Bluefairy Blossom body is a mature body. http://bluefairyint.com/shop/step1.php?number=185 Unfortunately - these are just partial measurements of the body, but maybe the owner could get more for you: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2329049&postcount=89 Carolyn
lati and blue fairy doesn't match well. i can't remember what was different about them and I lost my pictures because my computer crashed a month ago. . . but it would take some work to get them to look right. I don't thnk the blossom body is any thinner, she's just curvier. BF bodies are pretty thin on the normal mini scale anyway.
The Blossom Body waist at 15cm is about 2cm larger than Narae's or Unoa's, and 2.5cm larger than the slimmest mature mini waists. The Blossom body seeems a bit closer to Angel of Dream female waist size: 19cm - 14.5cm - 18.5cm Angell Studio is: 18cm - 12.5cm - 19cm Carolyn
I'm not sure if this will help. The picture isn't made in the best light. Atleast you will know what will match and what not with AS. I don't know what match the new BF resin. There is also another resin compare thread for AS. Lati blue normal skin isnt very pinky at all. Lati blue is a bit more yellow compared to the pinky white of Angell-Studio. Both are very light coloured. The AS Pinky white comes closer to Doll of Dream normal resin and a bit close to Angel of Dream normal. (although I feel that Aod is a bit more solid pink compared to AS resin. Blame the french resin :P) This is another problem as french resin makes other resin types very solid. Even though you find a match, the french resin can makes it looks different.
I just wanted to add that I'm quite pleased with AS's customer service- the hook slipped out of one of Leira's hands, and glue didn't seem to be holding the hook in very well. I emailed them about it and they sent me a new pair of hands and S-hooks for free! They came in a well-padded box via EMS, which would not have been cheap for them to send. The new hands have different hooks inside; they're thicker and not as slick (they're matte as opposed to the old shiny ones), so my guess is that they'll stay in better. I think it's great that they're working to improve their stuff, and they've been really nice to me.
Anybody have an Angell Studio pinky-white and a new-skin DOC? They say the color is like DOC. This member would be interested in how well it matches and whether their neck sizes (around, just below the head) are compatible. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=177817 Carolyn
LadyKnight has a newDoD-AS hybrid. I have compared different ages DoD with AS pinky white. Some matches with AS others were too white.
i've done some comparisons when i first got the pinky white Gus... though note that it wasn't taken under really good lighting and even now his head looks a shade more mellow than the DoC body but under natural lighting it's not noticeable... it's only when you stare REAL hard at it... http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166278 besides, try checking out some of my gallery thread to see comparison (though again one of it used a more yellow/orange bed-lamp)... nothing a lil blushing can't fix... i've heard that AOD normal matches quite well...
Oh wow, just wanted to post here since I saw very little talked about with Gus' body. I absolutely love the way it's sculpted. 3 The only thing that bothers me is his thigh likes to weirdly pop out, not out of the actual joint, but in a...strange way. xD I know that's not very helpful, but it's not something that really happens all too often and I only noticed it because he was fighting me to put on his pants. x3 Otherwise, I adore the way he sits SOO much better than my DOC boys, so that's definately a plus. I haven't given him much standing practice yet either, but from what little I did do he's a pretty dang sturdy little thing
I am doing a faceup on someone's Vera and she sent the entire doll. The poor dear fell apart in shipping. x.x I have been trying to figure out how her leg elastic is done, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. o.o I was wondering if anybody here can help me out... My situation is: There is one leg that came completely off. The elastic is through the leg so the two ends up just barely peeking through the top of the leg joint. The other leg is attached to a knot at the top of the lower torso by one side of the elastic, and the other side is lose. There is also an inch long piece of elastic in tied to this main knot that doesn't seem to be attached to anything. o.O And then I don't see how I can possibly stretch the elastic enough to reach the S-hook for the head. So... uh... how is the AS msd strung? DX This will be a learning experience, though... I fell in love with her as soon as I opened the box. *must get one now*
Ah, actually, I'm having the same problem as Kyrie Arashi O.o I noticed right out of the blue suddenly Prince's right leg is on the verge of falling off. I'm still very nervous about re-stringing, and these little guys are apparently put together a bit different. xD Would love any input on how to sturdy him up a bit O.o
About a month after I got my girl, the elastic in both legs frayed and snapped within the same day, so I had to restring her. It's really not that bad, but I suggest when it happens to carefully see how they are put together for reference. the arms are strung separately from the rest, so I just left that, but I'll probably have to replace that soon... Anyway, my doll was strung basically with just a loop of elastic. I'd take out the old elastic and measure it for the new stuff, then knot it. Fold the loop over the s hook in the head, preferably so that the knot is near the top, and that the two halves are equal. Then, guide the two halves through the thighs, legs, and hook them to the feet (and be sure you don't have the lefts and rights mixed up!) I hope this helps, it's kind of vague... What the company says is kind of confusing, though i agree that it's best to start from the foot: When you want to take apart the doll, it is best to start from the foot. When you undraw the sole and take off the hook ring, the leg can be disconnected. There is another string in the hands. So through the same way, you can take apart the hands of the doll thus the whole doll can be disconnected. Way to string: Lacing the wire of the doll is very important because it helps the doll to stand steadily and straightly. Lacing the wire of the doll with an authorized BJD wire, the joints of the doll will be fixed. The harder you drag, the firmer it is. See the picture of operation, Click here.
So I read somewhere that Volks Pureskin matches the Angel Studio 'Butter' color-but would any of the Angell Studio resins match the newer Fairyland Minifee? I'm looking for a body for both my floating Volks head and my spare MNF head, and really love that body-but I think the slim shape would work better for my MNF boy. I've done a lot of searches for this, but I haven't found a definite yes or no, or pictures. @_@ Thanks in advance!
I did a faceup on an AS Vera a while back and, seeing her next to my variously aged CP dolls I can say that the fleshy tone (I have to assume it was pinky white, but I'd have to check with the owner... it was much pinker and less yellow than my YoSD) was slightly lighter than my CP dolls. I think the main problem you would have is that AS dolls are, to the best of my knowledge, all French resin. I think they stopped making urethene, so even if the tone matches, the French resin probably wouldn't. x.x ...wow, I hope that was worth something to you. XD
From what I've read, you can request urethane (probably butchered that). It's recommended to do for matching with a pureskin head. And for 'pinky white' do you mean that you think it was the Jacinthe, or Pinky? http://new.angell-studio.com/en/product.php?action=16 Link to the body, and the tones are under "pic of detail options."
Hmm... I would say it is Milk Pinky. This is her: The close up of the lips probably best shows her color. It isn't yellow like I would call butter, but it isn't white. I'm interested to see this if you do end up going with AS. I actually loved the body sculpt the most out of the slim minis.
I may actually take a chance and order the Jacinthe body. Comparing my heads, the difference in tones looks about right-and I could possibly blush the body if it doesn't match. I may post a message to them asking which Luts resin it matches.
Does anyone else who has an Angell Studio Vera find it really hard to find shoes for her? Every pair of shoes I've ever bought from the Marketplace have been HUGE on her. So either they've sent her with too small feet or they just have naturally small feet. They look in proportion to her body, so I don't think it's the former. She stands fine, and looks fine, but when I buy MSD sized shoes for her, they flop around like clown shoes Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone recommend either a seller here on DoA or a doll company/website that do shoes that would fit? I've been meaning to make this thread for months, but haven't had time But my Paigey needs shooz, her feet are gonna get cold Thanks in advance!!! ^____^ ~Ryn
I have a AS body and Dollmore shoes are okay, but slightly big. Same with Dollzone. I think the best fit shoes would be Unoa/MNF/Narae size, since AS are considered slim minis.
Hi ^^ I think Dollmore clothing would be too big. I haven't tried it on my Gus yet, but I have tried it on my DoC kids and it's quite baggy on them. Seeing as how DoC's ar e abit thicker than Angell-Studio's, I'm just not sure it would work xP I haven't had much experience with other company's clothing, so, sorry I can't be much of a help. I do think Volk's clothing would also be too big for them, but you might want to try Dollzone clothing since that fits really nice on the MNF I have with me now, and MNF's and Angell-Studio's have a similar body structure.
Awww I figured that Dollmore's clothes would be too big... That sucks, because they have SO many cute dresses! Ohhh you have a BOY Gus in milk? I'm getting a girl in milk! Have you posted any pictures yeeet?!
Hm, my Gus is on a DoC body and he has a Dollmore shirt which fits pretty well. I think that if you pick a clothing which is more tight fitting, it'll work better on the minis, at least not too baggy... XD Good luck! Dollheart clothes should fit well!
I know this thread has been dead for a while, but...hey, it's worth a try: Maybe I just skipped this, but I wanted to ask if when you guys say "normal" skintone that you mean "butter" skintone? I'm contemplating getting a Gus, but I'm not sure whether or not I want "milk" or "butter." (That makes me think of food--I want to eat him! ^^) I love the glow of AS's resin...it's so pretty.
Just got a Leira in milk and I'm thinking that she's very pale. Not unnaturally so, but kind of like she needs to take some iron pills or eat more meat. It's especially pronounced when she wears her long white wig. Next time I'm thinking milkypink. Butter seems too brown. I know it's not what you asked, but hope this helps.
A quick question: will I need to restring my Gus immediately when he arrives? From previous comments in this thread AS seem to ship them pretty loose/with bad elastic (??)
My Gus (girl, in my avatar pic) seems to be really well strung, she poses well and stands on her own. Maybe I was just lucky Perhaps I should add, I have the senior body with the double joints. I love the look of the milk pinky resin, so soft and glowy looking! I'd love to get another Angell Studio.
