WITHdoll Mini Discussion Part 7

@Musume Stunning!! (btw, I love reading your blog) I got the Soulkid girl N.L body. I saw pics posted here of the hybrid and thought, "It's perfect!!" So I'm hoping that everything will work out in the end~

 

@Musume, sure thing! Here's the best shot I've gotten so far. These are the OWL-011 eyes in 12mm. Hopefully I'll have some better photos of them in the near future.



Mako eyes in 12mm may fit in Coco if you're able to squeeze them in. The pupils are rather small compared to most glass eyes, so I don't think they'd look too oversized.

@Musume this gal is gonna get faceup and blushing, all in a very natural style, since I am going to use her body for another project sometimes and it needs to look 100% natural for that.

@Rosslyn that is nice! I think that is drawback of shared bodies, not being able to "customize it" for each head. But it will turn out perfectly!

I took some photos of Crescent (WITHdoll Rosa) with her friend Astra today. I finally got those green Makos to show off their natural color!

 

@NekoNyanMew Your Crescent is so cute! I really love that bright orange wig against her pale skin. ^^ It's wonderful to see more of the Rosa sculpt around~


Mi Cha (Cathy) was in pieces for a long time because I was cleaning her body and redoing her manicure - and I also switched her strings. I reassembled her a couple weeks ago and took this quick photo. I missed having my princess around.


I also took Mi Cha to see her prince at Yenna's place but I haven't finished editing those photos yet. Busy, busy... ^^;;

Ignore the flyaway hairs please!! the wig is massive and meant for my Merrydollround Fang, when she eventually arrives. I just, I had to test it on my Withdoll Ruby. The colour is just too gorgeous to be stowed away in a box for another month.

Anyway, I snapped a few photos of this gal today, and since she is now all packed up I thought I'd take the chance to post her here while I still have her :]

I bought this girl by layaway from someone here, she's been my grail doll ever since she came out and I had been so sad to miss her, I am so grateful for the second hand market. I haven't had the opportunity to sew for her yet, but she just got her wig and eyes in the mail today

 

@sanachii Your Ruby looks stunning! I think that color looks too perfect on her! Which one is her "default" wig color? I'm curious!

Thank you! She had a half-blond, half-brown wig from crobidoll for a long while. It was one of the long, slightly curly ones in synthetic fiber. It's a gorgeous wig, but she lost all personality in it and ended up looking really blank and uninteresting. >/

 

Does anyone know if there are any resin matches for Withdoll's Real (UV)?
I am in love with the Aiden head sculpt, but I'm not so jazzed about their boy body. I'd like to hybrid him if there are any compatible matches out there.

 

Non-WD owner poppin' in here to ask: Has anyone received their Egon yet? I missed the pre-order period so I'm eagerly waiting for owner pictures. (I think I've only seen one, and that was on Tumblr.)

While I'm here, can I also request Ash spam? All these Withdolls are so dang gorgeous.

 

You could maybe try Impldoll? They do resin matching - you just email them to request it and send the headcap or whatever to match from.
I got a body for a tan Narae head that way, and they matched it perfectly. Depends what you're after though - they have the "child" body which is very slim, and the "Young" body which is quite muscly and a lot bigger. What are you looking for in a body that the Withdoll doesn't have? That might help with suggestions!

I'm looking for something a little taller and a little beefier (the Withdoll boys are just a tad too skinny for my liking).
I did discover that they're compatible with Souldoll N.L boys. I'll have to get him in Normal rather than Real UV, but I might go that route since I adore the male Soul Kid bodies.

 

My friends & me both received our Egon blank...

@sanachii I apologize for the delay in answering! That wig sounds nice, but she is too gorgeous on that purple!

@SaelaVe I don't know about that resin match, but ResinSoul, ImplDoll and Angell-Studio all make custom resin match if you send them a part to match. You can also ask Withdoll to send you parts to see their colors in person for free with any order you do.
Also, check Souldoll. I know their NS match!

I ordered Withdoll Emma on January 12th and I am still waiting for her. There seems to be very little action in the Waiting Room. Is the company normally slow to fill orders?

 

No, they usually ship on time. They work by resin batches, though. But the Waiting Room has been a little left aside since sometime ago, because I remember another person on this post saying that the list hasn't been promptly updated.


@SaelaVe you are welcome! For what I've seen RS does some really nice matches. What type of body are you looking for?

 

I think I've finally decided on a look for her. Gray skin has been hard to work with! In case anyone else needed a reference, she's wearing an Infinite Love kimono. The fit is a little big but not bad. I definitely need more gray skinned WDs.

 

Looking good, @PChu. Will you do her face-up yourself or send her out? I agree the kimono is a bit large but it's a beautiful garment. Is it MSD size?

@Musume I ordered Emma in NS so it shouldn't take long for them to have enough orders for a batch. But after more than two months my order still says "Confirm receipt (credit card)". I would feel so much better about this if it said something like "Item processing".

I figured the Waiting Room was not up to date. Someone in my local doll group had a doll ship in mid-December and she never updated to say it had arrived. I'll ask her about it when we meet on Saturday.

 

@vermont chick , I understand! My order (placed 1/29) says the same.

I am hoping that she will ship next week. Someone on this thread told me that they've been having a 10 week turnaround time lately. This is my first time ordering from Withdoll, so I'm not sure how often they update the status or if they only do it when the doll is shipped.

 

It's my first time ordering from them, too. My order is at 11 weeks already. If you subtract a week for all the holidays (Lunar New Year and a holiday in March) that would make it 10 weeks. Soon.

@vermont chick I understand, but I think Withdoll does not use the "Item processing" stage. At least one of my dolls jumped directly to "on shipping" without other notice.

@wherethelilacsbloom yes, that has been the current turn around time. Roughly 3 months. Take in mind that Withdoll outsources faceups and clothing, so those options can take a little more time.

 

I'm looking for something a little taller (around 47cm) and a little beefier than Withdoll's boy body.
I think I'm going to go with Souldoll. It's the perfect height and such a gorgeous sculpt.

 

@vermont chick She's had several faces already, but I just can't seem to get the right look. I'm probably going to send her out again soon. I'm just so attached I don't want to be without her head for weeks :P And yes, MSD sized kimono.

@SaelaVe If you get a hybrid with Souldoll I'd love to see pictures. I'm in the same boat with the boy bodies.

My husband's PC will be paid off next month, and then I can place the orders for the Aiden head and the Souldoll body.

 

@SaelaVe Souldoll is the perfect height then! They now have a new tan, but I don't know how they will look. Take in mind that WD's Real Skin is environmental resin. I don't know which resin Souldoll uses.

Update on my Withdoll Luna /Soulkid hybrid! I just received the soulkid NL girl body with small bust last night.
Proportion-wise and aesthetically, I think it's a wonderful hybrid.
However the NS resin match was a lot worse than I thought...
Soul doll's NS is very pale in comparison. Matches my Fairyland 2014/15 very well and a bit paler than my FL 2015/16. I would think it matches dollmore NS well.
Withdoll's NS is very pinky a much darker

I'm thinking, would WD rosy white be a better match for Souldoll NS?

 

Oh dear, @fansea that isn't a good resin match at all, is it! It's baffling though, because my Withdoll/Souldoll hybrid matches perfectly - they are both that lovely pale colour. I just got out my doll again to look, and yep, perfect match - you'd swear they were from the same company. Both I got new as well, so there shouldn't be any yellowing. The question is: is it Withdoll or Souldoll that are varying their resin colour?! This worries me, as I want to make another Withdoll hybrid - this time with a Fairyline body - and I don't know if I can trust the resin to be a match or not!

 

@Musume: That's exactly what I was thinking, about the height. I'm pairing him with a 45cm Mystic Kids girl, so I thought that the 47cm height of the Souldoll body would look much better than the 45cm height of the Withdoll.
Thank you so much for the information about the environmental resin. I didn't realize that they used a different type of resin as other companies. That is definitely something to keep in mind.

@fansea: Oh no! That is troubling.
Is there any possibility that one of the two companies sent the wrong color? I've seen several Withdoll/Souldoll NS hybrids as recent as last year that were spot-on matches.
Or, as @morganatron said, is it possible that one of the two companies has changed their NS formula?
I'm quite nervous about going through with my own hybrid now.

 

@morganatron It's so odd since I got the body 2 months after the head! From pictures tho, it does seem like Souldoll is always a pale colour... and Withdoll seems to vary...
I am just speculating tho so who knows?? If someone is able to find a WD Rosy white compared to another NS, that would be amazing!

 

@SaelaVe It doesn't seem like it. My package from souldoll were all labelled individually with all the parts and it said NS... And judging from the resin comparison photos from WD, it looks like I got the right one.. So who knows... it's possible that either one of the companies changed their formula. How upsetting! I was hoping for the difference to not be so stark!

 

@fansea sorry to hear that your colours don't match. I'm not sure how many references you found for the colours, but I do know that Souldoll's normal skin has never been very consistent. Some batches match with some companies and others don't. It's been this way for years. This is why getting that one first is usually a good idea, especially since Withdoll has two colours that might be matchable to Souldoll's single NS (and two whites vs. Souldoll white). Maybe you could get the match closer by re-doing the face up with lighter blushes and giving the neck a bit of a blush to match to the head?

That would be Souldoll. Withdoll does their casting in-house with a very small group of people. They keep their formula consistent and every doll of the same colour I've ever gotten from them has been the same colour as the previous one. The farther away a company sends their dolls for casting and the more people that do it, the more it varies. Even when the casting company has an exact recipe, there is variation (just look at Soom, it seems they never manage to send two dolls of the came colour unless they were in the exact same batch, because they have a sloppy casting company in China).

 

Ah, thank you @Yenna - that's good to know that Withdoll are consistent! I think we can all feel more confident with any planned hybrids now. I'm pleased about that!

@SaelaVe If you're considering getting the Impldoll Young body for a hybrid, I can take a photo of a Withdoll head on that body if it helps you to see the proportions. I got one with the colour match service to match a tan Narin head, and they did a really good job. It's a 46cm doll though, so maybe not as tall as you want. But anyway, let me know if you'd like to see and I can take a photo for you!

 

@fansea that is not a good match! Maybe you can blush the body a little? Or get another head in rose white.

@SaelaVe it is OK. Withdoll's environmental resin are those tones that have a "(UV)" in the name. The others are standard urethane resin. I have dolls from both resins, and they are great. The brown tan uv is no that traslucent and looks great in person.
