Which kind of "fantasy type" dolls do you want the most?

Jun 26, 2014

    1. Right now, I think I want a little kobold to accompany my goblin. I bet they'd have fun together.

    2. I just got my hands on the adorable DokuDoll open eye cyclops, have a Jungatoy D.Skull on a Fantasy Doll body, and I want to get Danni by rap1993. I've thought about getting a cat anthro doll, but haven't found one that I'm really thrilled about quite yet.

    3. I would love to own any type of cryptid and monster dolls,
more specifically a Minotaur, Goatman, Mothman, etc.
It would be super awesome :thumbup

    4. I really love the little dollzone new year’s dragons, they have such beautiful jointed tails! I think more dolls with elaborate feathered jointed wings would be cool.

    5. I really like centaur dolls, so I'm lucky plenty of companies have those! I'm currently on the lookout for a certain dragon sculpt, and I'd love to own a vampire someday!

    6. Orcs! Orcs and other fanged creatures and anthropomorphic beasts like wolves!

    7. I would love a naga, a pretty, mature female one, with a gorgeous pose-able tail. I also really love dragon and centaur sculpts.

    8. I'm sure any doll I can think of has already been made/said in here, so instead I'm going to add that I would really love jointed tail parts for larger dolls! I really want my Iplehouse YID boy to have a tail like that since he's based on the Monkey King, but it seems like my only options right now are non-jointed "static" tails or ones made out of fur and/or fabric which I'm not sure will look right.

    9. With a centaur and elf on the way, I really want a strong tall muscular dragon lady. Muscular ladies are really rare resin wise anyway, though.

For actual sculpts that I know exist, Withdoll Elf Warrior Ian is on my wishlist because elvessssss. One day I might just shell Taako from the Adventure Zone just to sew fancy outfits.

    10. I'd love to see more tails myself. I just recently remade the tail for my oldest doll with doll armature instead of wire so it's much more posable now, but drilling the hole to attach it wasn't as easy as I'd hoped.

I've always kind of hoped SOOM would do a male MG scorpion to go with Vesuvia too.

    11. Thirding tails. I’m looking for a solution that isnt a fabric tail (it’s regular skin/slightly scaly on the character) for my character. It would be interesting to see either an articulated tail thinner than Vesuvia’s, or a wire and silicon/rubber/something flexible tail. I’m pretty sure Whatever I go with, I’m going to have to build...

    12. I was thinking about using armature! Where did you get yours?

I've also been considering finding and commissioning an artist to make a 3d printing model for a large jointed tail; I see lots of indie dollmakers on etsy that make 3d printed pet/anthro dolls with tails like that so I feel like it's possible.

    13. @monkeypizzasonic - Good question. I had it sitting around for a while before I finally did anything with it, but I think it was from this site - Kemperdolls.com (I was planning to do several, so I went for the 1/8" 10' coil, but it looks like you can buy it by the foot on this site?) It seems pretty easy to deal with as long as you have the right pliers for the diameter you're using.
I'm sure a 3D-printed tail is possible, but you would still have to fasten it to your doll in a way that gives it leverage, otherwise its posing will be rather limited anyway.

    14. I like fairies, elves and might be centaurs or mermans...
But at this time a normal BJD at a collection of fancy clothings is enough for me to tell all of my current stories...

    15. Pretty basic but I'd love to own a vampire one day. My Malkavia stricken Ventrue Charlie could use a shell. He could help me DM. As best he could at least...

    16. Elves are my weakness - I like pointy ears. Long pointy ears would be even better. Also hands with claws - they look great on male molds. And a very attractive for me - wolf legs on Soom big boys :love I hope to buy Chrom legs in gray once - I have an idea about them ))

    17. I have a fantasy race that looks like demons (though they're not - most of them are super gentle and vegetarian), so I'd have to say any dolls with those characteristics. I've found it difficult to shell them, though buying Soom parts from the marketplace has helped a lot! Unfortunately, I'm still working out ways to craft their tails.

And I've always wished that every sculpt came with an elf ear option. The majority of my characters are elves and that's left me with a lot of elf ear mods to do.

    18. I really want a sphinx, like a female centaur but with a lions body. And a a small sd cyclops. And mermaid tails but i dont really like any ive seen

    19. I would love to see more bird themed fantasy dolls!

    20. Kpop but they are hard to find unless I can find someone to pay to make me the doll

    21. So far I have been wanting some of my favorite atelier momoni in fantasy colors. However, I have seen some dolls by villitunes that have been piquing my interests.

    22. Hmm cats I guess, but merman would do it for me too. Froud style elves and gelflings in bjd form sound very awesome too, but maybe a bit difficult with copyright?

    23. I would also love to see some more fantasy teeth that are a prominent part of the sculpt! like some fangs or tusks!

    24. I've never been too interested in the typical fantasy dolls, like centaurs or dragon people or whatnot, but it just struck me that knights with resin armor parts technically count as fantasy dolls, don't they? In that case hell yes, that would be the kind I want the most. I don't know why, but I've gotten obsessed with the idea of owning a doll with armor parts that can be detached and swapped out. My grail is Luts French Knight Abadon but I'd be happy to own any big male knight, tbh. It's a pity they seem relatively rare at least compared to other kinds of fantasy dolls.

    25. Oh definitely anything with a fish tail... And some dragons that look more dragon than human are really cool! What was that sculpt I saw recently... They were two and both were some looong boyos

    26. Miracle doll snake demon, maybe?

    27. Vampires and elfes. I am childish. :blush

    28. I loooove fantasy dolls where the "fantasy" part is just enough to be right on the cusp of unsettling or lovely or both! Doll Chateau's Medusa and Hathaway, SOULDOLL's star version of Charlotte... I think the most overtly fantasy doll I've liked is DC's Xaviera, and even then I prefer to see her hybridized with "normal" human heads. I'm not too interested in animal ears + tail, or pointy elflike ears, and while I adore vampires, I do like vampire dolls to have something more than just a pair of fangs to really drive in their inhumanness. Long claws or nails...or fingers painted a deep, eerie red!

But I think I love dolls where you don't need any special bits for them to look fantastical. Dika Doll's Amanda is a shining example of what I mean! She has no sharp teeth, furry ears, or wings... But somehow, the delicate faceup with the Heian-style brows and the hime-sama haircut manages to evoke the sense of an ethereal fish or water spirit. Beautiful! <3

    29. Sort of more in the back of my mind than an immediate desire, but I would love a vampire doll with tiny, elegant fangs. Or the DollZone tarot Hermit.

    30. i love the mermaids i have two of them and i also love elves and vampires

    31. The only Fantasy type dolls I have been wanting recently are the Doll Chateau centaur type dolls. I have also wanted a head with horns

    32. My answer might be a little outside of the “fantasy” doll category, you usually think of vampires, fairies, etc. when you Think of Fantasy lol but I really want a sad clown!
I would use Genesis, 44cm AkagiDoll Girl. I’ve been admiring her for a while, and I think she would make a great sad clown, she has those droopy eyes and pout!

    33. I really want one of Fairyland's centaurs. I've looked at other companies' centaurs since I don't know if I'll ever be able to get one of those, but I just don't like any of them as much. I would also like a vampire at some point but I haven't found one that I absolutely love yet.

    34. i also wanted a centaur since I first got into the hobby, my finances wouldn’t allow for the ones I saw then and I kind of gave up and forgot about it, kind of a grail doll but not actually torturing myself by looking all the time. But I just saw resin soul’s dawn and may actually have to pull the trigger.

    35. I'm a sucker for anything that can be seen as some type of forest spirit so fauns, elves, faeries and the like would be it for me. :)

    36. I’ve always been a sucker for pointy ears, so anything fae-related is hard to resist. The elf sculpts are initially what drew me to the hobby to start with. I thought the CP elves held a great resemblance to characters from ElfQuest, a fantasy graphic novel series I used to be obsessed with.

The vast majority of my collection is fantasy themed in some way, although I have found my tastes changing from stylized to more realistic sculpts. A lot more human sculpts in my collection, too, although I still love me some pointy ears!

    37. Did you all see the Dream Valley sphinxes? oh my gosh but they're ADORABLE. Waaaant.

    38. I've seen both fairies by Aimerai and some centaurs by Doll Chateau I've loved. I wish I had the finances to afford a Lillian since they're being discontinued, but ah well.

    39. Big muscular orc girl. In 1/4 scale.

    40. I'm definitely most interested in mermen, of which there aren't many. That and the incubus/dragon dolls made by Soom.

    41. I absolutely love vampire dolls, especially the ones with open mouths, I don't know if a company has made one before but it would also be cool for a doll to have detachable bat wings as well

    42. Anything mermaid or centaur!! I love the tiny delf centaurs, but I can never seem to find/afford one. Realfee Mari and Minifee Alicia are both mermaid BJD grails for me.

    43. I really like these kind of 'fantasy type' dolls: kitsune (fox) yokai, vampires, angels, demons, elves, mermaids.:kitty2

    44. I would love a sphinx, especially one with a jointed tail.

      • x 2
    45. I just love fantasy heads but with human body. I love heads with cute ears such as lamb, bunny or elf ears.

    46. I have two fantasy colored tiny delfs on the way which will be fairies. I have a few elves and a centaur as well. I REALLY want a Peaks Woods FOB vampire and a vampire YoSD as a pair but I don’t know when. I’m also not ready for that price commitment. :XD:

    47. Oh god that's a really hard question. I love all things fantasy so I would have a whole list. My top ones are: Fairy, dragon, vampire, zombie, siren, and goddesses/gods. To name a few.

    48. I want faeries of any time and vampires!

    49. Vampires, i will love to find a pair of bat wings for mine, also i like the satyr/ deer type and will love to find a pair of deer legs for my Sd 10 boy .
Centaurs(maybe some day) and sirens like cordellia from AS, they are so pretty. Also anthro cat dolls like the ones from dearmine.

    50. I know this is common but I loveeee vampire dolls, hope to own one for myself in the future!

    51. I really like the centaur made by Fairyland. Somehow I just love the overall style of the company LOL

    52. Honestly, I would love some more odd/non-traditionally beautiful sculpts. Give me monstrous dolls, and give me beefy lady dolls! I absolutely would love Orcs, things that are skeletal, rotting, and "ugly". I want to see more honest horror dolls, and more body variation.

And you know? Not necessarily ugly dolls either, but also expanded body types? I want to see endomorphic male and female characters, I want to see round and soft, and I want to see bodies with working muscles rather then for display muscles.

Let me have beefy orcs men and ladies, let me have an adorable, honestly fat, fairy god mother type character with pointed ears and a kind smile, let me have something with too many arms, the skull of an animal for the head, and and some wicked looking teeth and claws!

    53. She’s OT bc she isn’t YET cast on resin, but check out Jj.doll.lab on insta. They made an orc!

    54. I've seen some progress pics in the facebook group that I'm in! made me happy as all heck!

    55. Hooves and antlers. Soom has been tough on my wallet over the years.

    56. I absolutely agree. I really appreciate dolls that have a distinct and different aesthetic, even when they're not to my exact taste. There are a lot of sculpts out there that are absolutely beautiful in a classical, tradition sense, but I have a real soft spot for unique designs and strong, if unusual aesthetics. Plus I think it's interesting to see how designers tackle the physical engineering of things like digitigrade legs/multiple arms/multiple faces/insect limbs etc.
Also an absolutely ripped orc lady doll would be so, so good.

    57. Digitigrade hooved legs are what I'm after right now :( I want to make my satyr girl OC but she has a bit more of a thicker-pear body shape than most Eastern BJD companies make. I'm pretty new to BJD as I don't even have a doll yet and all the ones that I even come close to liking (Cuprit, Beryl by SOOM) are likely impossible for me to get so I'm kind of just stuck waiting for an artist doll to come out I guess.

    58. Right now it's all the monster and horror parts. Seems like whenever they pop up they're already sold out. I want horns, claws, wings, appendages, and everything else I can't think of. And not just all the pretty and sleek looking parts. As much as I like all the elegant looking demons and vampires it seems like that's everything's style. I like the idea of being able to add on to dolls and make them more... monstrous? I don't have my doll yet but I was having such a hard time finding enough good parts I ended up having to get something custom made.

What I really hope to get down the line would be something similar to the original descriptions of angels and demons. Giant creatures with ten eyes and no mouth or giant spider bodies or three faces. I know I've seen one or two before but that's it. Is it so much to ask for more weird looking humanoid figures that would fit in with art from Hellboy, Hellblazer, Dark Souls, or Bloodborne.

      • x 1
    59. i would love to see more SD sized anthro dolls, also more mermen, large naga dolls with full articulated tails and SD dolls with proper digitigrade legs animals legs like horse, deer, cat, and dogs. also more fully animal heads would be cool especially a bear and ox head!
one of my OC's i'd love to shell is a demon with rabbit legs and tail and i've never seen that in an SD doll.

    60. I personally really love elves and carries myself. :) I know that’s such a stereotypical answer, but they’re just so magical. I’m also not sure if anthro dolls count in this kind of question, but they feel magical and fantastical to me so they’re also a preference of mine. :3nodding:
