What was the first sculpt you could recognize?

Dec 28, 2013

    1. The first one I was able to recognize was a Migidoll Ryu. I then found it easier to recognize Migidoll sculpts. Dollshe Saint has unique features so I was able to recognize him easily. I'm not the very good at recognizing specific sculpts, but I can sometimes tell what company they're from. For example, Iplehouse dolls.

    2. The first one I clearly remember being like "OH I KNOW THIS" was Soom Dia, but thats sort of a given with the sculpt's fantastic bee-sting lips ;)

    3. The first doll I was able to recognize was Volks Kurumi. Dollfie Dreams were what got me into the hobby when I was fourteen (from my anime phase...) but I was never able to truly tell them apart.
Kurumi was my grail at the time, but then I saw Lieselotte *_*

    4. Tie between Dollshe Saint (first doll I ever actually had pointed out to me) and Delf El (which was THE DOLL at the time I joined the hobby). I can still spot both of them a mile away. (Then again, to be fair, they're pretty distinctive.)

    5. I've seen so many different DD sculpts that I know a lot just by looking at the face. Sometimes I can even tell the difference between a Moe 1st version and a Moe 2nd version (I guess you could say DD Moe was the first sculpt I could recognize). There's a hint of difference in the way the mouth has been sculpted and there's just something different about the 2nd that I just don't like as much as the first. x3 But anyway, with DD sculpts, I'm pretty good with knowing who's face I'm looking at. With resin BJDs, I'm not that good at all though. I might be able to tell that a sculpt is made by Soom but only because of their fantasy BJDs. I do kind of know some of Doll Chateau's sculpts though, so maybe I might able to identify those by just looking at the face. :3 But, other than that, I can't say much else. xP

    6. Minifee Chloe... because she's so popular, she's everywhere :)

    7. Dollmore Mio, from her cute round face!

    8. Identifying sculpts comes pretty easy to me for some reason. I'm horrible at remembering faces but sculpts seem to work just fine. The first sculpt that started it all was Littlefee Ante. I was obsessed with that sculpt and looked her up a lot. Although my first sculpt was actually one of her sisters, Leah, I still hope to own her one day.

    9. The first BJD I encountered in person was PongPong by Fairyland. My college roomie brought him to lunch. Several months later I found myself researching tiny BJDs. I couldn't remember the company name, but I remembered the goofy face quite distinctly and her silly gawking "yup, he's a pong." And somehow found the dolls based on that.

As for non-distinct faces, the first ones I have got to recognize pretty instantly are some Doll Love 26cm sculpts. I was close to getting one of the four of YoYo (Grapefruit), YanYan, Ke, or WenWen.. and then I got swept away by the doll I actually ended up with as my first ^_^
But those four still hold my interest.

    10. i can recognize resinsoul An pretty well, probably because be was my first.doll and i had the company's photo as my wallpaper on my phone for months before i got him. <3

    11. The first sculpt I could recognise straight off the bat was my first doll, B&G Sky. Other than him, I could first distinguish Migidoll Ryu! Something about Migidolls I just love :D

    12. I can pretty much always tell DOT Lukes, Camines, and Lahoos, and I can identify most DOD dolls as DODs, even if I can't tell the specific sculpt. I also find it rather easy to identify BlueFairies:)

    13. The first sculpts I learned to recognize where Iplehouse Elin (my namesake), RS Ju (my first doll), PKF Luna (my second doll) and MNF Chloe (because she is just everywhere).

    14. the first doll i recognized was DOD Homme Ducan and Ivan then Migidoll Jina, Ryu, Cho.. and Iplehouse Eric

    15. Hmmmm recognize without fail would probably be Dollshe Saint or 5th Motiv Venitu? Cause they look really unique to me.

    16. I tend to recognize Blue Fairy, since they trade mark face are young child and a bit anime ish style :)

    17. I was able to recognize Migidoll Ryu and Volks Kurumi easily when I started, Ryu mostly because I have a friend who owns one :)

    18. I recognize Bluefairy sculpts anywhere. Their style is very unique and one of my favorites. <3
I'm starting to recognize sculpts here and there. I can definitely point out a KDF Bory and a DoD Homme Ducan immediately because theyre very common, haha.

    19. I will recognize Supia's doll immediately :)

      Because I'm obsess with them.

and Im planning to buy One!

    20. The first Msd doll I wanted is actually the easiest doll to recognize and it's the Luts Kid Delf Bory. I love that face and so many people own a Bory that I've seen all kinds of face ups for her.

    21. I can't name specific sculpts other than ones that I own, but I can generally figure the company they're from. LIke if they're from Fairyland or Doll Chateau, etc.

    22. I have fancied School A for so long that know I can recognize all school-A-alike sculpts out there. School A, DWC-01, F-16, Michele, Chris, Lucas, Maria and Schulze.... I'm not even ashamed :D
After some time even if you can't tell exactly what sculpt it is you can start to guess from which company the doll came from, I can recognize soom, volks, luts, iplehouse, switch, migidoll, dod and dimdolls by now. They all have their own styles that it becomes easy to recognize if you have seen them enough.

    23. Volks mini Ken Dolpa 8 version! I knew it from my friend, and she loves mini Ken at that time!

    24. The first sculpt I was able to recognize was Obitsu Gretel. But I admit that have already in my hand the small version helped me a lot. The next was Soom Hyperon, I was so fond of him!
Now I easily track some Withdoll sculpt, some Minifee, Dollshe Saint, a lot of Resinsoul and some Dollchateau and Dollzone sculpt. I find easier to recognize sculpt I see often (like Dollshe Saint) or sculpt I researched for.

    25. I think the first sculpt I could recognise - apart from the dolls I actually owned - was RS Mei, just because I'd been looking at her as a first doll and because Resinsoul have quite a distinctive face shape. I agree that it's easier to pin down the company than the exact sculpt. I think I would almost always know an Iplehouse doll when I saw it, even though I can't name that many of their sculpts.

    26. For me it has to be the minifee Juri 08. its hard not to be able to spot her. I really hope they re-release her sculpt as Id snap her up in a hear beat even if it meant putting her on my credit card until payday.

    27. For me it was. The Littlefee Ante and I thought I knew minifee Chloe quite well but one photo I saw I didn't realise it was her! I think face ups can make it harder to know which is which!

    28. I think it was MNF/DELF Lishe for me. I could differentiate between the two, and recognize them on other sites, but I don't know which one came first.

    29. I am too new to identify most sculpts but I can usually tell Minifee Chloe.

    30. Lishe, because I love her cheeks and one of my friends has 10 of 'em.

    31. Bacn when I first entered the hobby in 2006, Delf El's and Lishe's were the most popular sculpts, so I think they were definitely the ones I recognized first. Especially El!

    32. I can recognize a lot of the Lati Yellow sculpts, just by looking at them. And I can recognize some of the Iplehouse Pixxies because they're so unique! But beyond that, I'm pretty useless when it comes to identifying sculpts!! :sweat A lot of adult dolls just look so, so similar to my untrained eye!

    33. It is really easy for me to recognize any kid Delf, specially Bory. I mean, he has an unique expression, and his eyes are pretty big. I often get excited when I see a Bory RSB with his company faceup. It looks really good! ^u^ I love to browse around pictures of this sculpt to see and analize different faceups made by the owner, the clothes they dress him with... And the wig he's wearing on each photoshoot! I expend a pretty big amount of time doing this *_* But I still love to save images from him, my favorite sculpt, on my cellphone XD But if I find a picture with stuff and items that I reaaly love and I had been searching for a long, long time, it's hard to get in contact with the owner so he/she could tell me where to get that stuff ;-;

    34. The first sculpt I could recognize was the Minifee Chloe, but that's mostly because lots of people seem to have them, so it's a very common mold that I've gotten to see a lot. Furthermore, lots of people in the Chilean BJD community have Chloes.

    35. The first sculpt I could recognize was Leekeworld Mikhaila, after months of looking into BJDs I find it easy for me to recognize about a dozen or so of the Minifee dolls and also some others as well.

    36. No matter how hard i try, i cant tell the sculpt of a doll
Even if it's the one i like, change the face up, and i will not recognize it anymore.
      I'm suck at this hahahaja

    37. Personally it's fairyland feeple sculpts in general because I have spent a lot of time comparing them

    38. Doll-Zone Mo, because when I started they were super popular.
      Same for the DOD Ducan.
The Delf El craze was slowly dying out at that point already, but a lot of the people I knew owned them, I just didn't see them popping up in Incoming Threads anymore.

    39. Soom Onyx - that was the first bjd I really liked.

    40. The first sculpt i could regocnize, is the simple blue fairy and minoru world sculpt, so simple and cute, petit that i could regocnize them anytime, personally it was my first choice of sculpt for my very first bjd doll choice :) . she's my only doll, but im focusing on saving up for a new minoru world doll ^^

    41. The first sculpt for me was the RS Mei. Probably because she was my first and I spent forever looking at her on the website. I even got into a heated debate with a woman over the sculpt lol.

    42. Probably Volks four sisters. There weren't many companies back then and as a newbie I thought I should check Volks first, me and my sister also had some of their 1/6 dolls.
Then I found the Dream of Doll site, they only had MSDs then and my favourite was Yu. Now I like Kirill more, but I think he's actually a dreaming version of the Yu mold so I didn't really change much :XD:
After that I found the Serendipity dolls, I can recognize all of them. Sharmin was popular back then, she was everywhere. And it was full of Noel on ebay. I still regret not getting it then, but I did found one in the end :)

    43. I think Volks Super Dollfies have very unique faces. Once you know the names, you'll be able to recognize them all! However, this can be said about other doll companies as well. I think maybe the more you like the company's dolls, the more you can distinguish a Luts doll from a Fairyland doll. Every company has its own little quirks.:pcupcake:pcupcake:pcupcake:pcupcake

    44. I'm still fairly new to the hobby, but the first dolls I could recognize were the Minifee Chloe and Celine because I saw them everywhere on Tumblr. I'm starting to find that I can recognize more and more, especially the sculpts from individual artists more, like Salome or any of the Lillycat Cerisdolls. I can recognize Doll Chateau pretty easily now too because I stalk they're website so much lol.

    45. Leekeworld Mikhaila was the first "ooh I know which sculpt that is!" for me. Her eyes cute, droopy eyes and curvy body totally drew me in. :)

    46. Dollzone/Doll Chateau have become noticeably recognizable to me and so are Dollmore dolls. Fairyland bodies and certain faces. Realpuki are easily recognizable.
I also find certain other dolls like dust of dolls or dream high studios very recognizable. Most doll companies can however mix well ib my opinion.

    47. Definitely fairyland chloe, and soon after most other fairyland sculpts XD

    48. Some of the Dollshe sculpts and the Doll Chateau sculpts are most recognizable to me. :)

    49. Any Narin doll, because they were the very first ones I had the pleasure of seeing in person. Bimong has a very distinct sculpting style.

    50. Fairyland Pongpong with open mouth~ This sculy is just so cute and unforgettable xD

    51. Probably Migidoll Ryu or Iplehouse EID Luna. All thanks to Dollstars and PropertyoftheUchiha on DeviantArt.

    52. Pukifee Ante was the first sculpt I could recognize. Over time, I started being able to recognize many of the other Fairyland sculpts as well.

    53. I recognize easily any Fairyland Pukipuki and Pukifee sculpts, and also most of the Littlefee sculpts.
I also recognize a few specific sculpts from others companies that I love and often checked pictures before.

    54. Just about anything minifee. And DC bodies as well. They're super different :) (in an awesome, good way)

    55. Like many others, El, Shiwoo, Lishe and other CP/ Luts sculpts were ruling the popularity scale when I came into the hobby and I can still recognize an El fairly quickly (I should hope so since I own an MSD one...).

I'm terrible at sculpts and companies, though. I'm more of a collector so I wander in and out of the hobby fairly regularly so I don't really keep up with what's 'hot' and what's new at any given time. Chances are, I wouldn't know a Soom doll if it bit me on the nose, despite the 1000000000 I see on the MP these days.

    56. i began collecting back in 2004 , Luts Lishe was the first that really kept popping up to me, i loved the sculpt and knew i had to have one. so id say Lishe ,Still a classic beauty

    57. Well, not really good at it. The first I can recognize is enchanted doll. It is just way too special.

    58. I think I am pretty good at recognising sculpts, especially from my favourite companies. Mainly because I have spent so many hours poring over their websites and owner pics on Flickr whilst wiping drool from the keyboard. As a rule of thumb I would never buy a sculpt I couldn't instantly recognise in owner photos because I like more idiosyncratic sculpts. Those tend to still have a distinct personality no matter how differently painted of accessorised, just personal taste.

Tinnies do not interest me at all though, I guess that is why I still cannot tell one from another. They could all be Tribbles for all I know! ;)

    59. Dollshe Hound and Luts El. The El, because when I came into the hobby they were EVERYWHERE, and the Hound because it was the 1st doll I felt I "had to have."

    60. I can usually recognize the Popov Sisters sculpts. They are all so unique and beautifully done, from sculpting to clothing and wigs. I'll probly never have one, though, because I like a sculpt to speak to some inner part of me............
