What is the meaning behind your DOA username?

Jan 21, 2015

    1. I always use rinpvps. It's from my world of warcraft account. I'm rin and I always pvp :D

    2. The "replicant" part is from Blade Runner. And I have a dolly family

    3. First name followed by family name's initial letter. Super creative I know.

    4. I have this username for years now. I don't know how but someday, the words doll + lullaby pleased me together and that's it :) I just modified it because dollullaby with 4 "L" was too much.

    5. Well, when I was maybe 13 I used the username "Kitty Zelda" on another site, but after I few years I sort fo outgrew it and wanted to change it, but I didn't want to be completely unrecognizable... So I mashed it together into "Kittzel". Since it's fairly unique, it's my default handle for most online sites now.

    6. www...is just simply my full name in Chinese pronunciation, and my full name. Super easy to understand and is super fun when my friend asked me why is it 71 and not 272 or 227

    7. I've had the same username for years now. I came up with it for a Percy Jackson related reason and just really love it. It refers to Horus the Egyptian god and it always makes me think of this piece of art of him in a bath towel and cup of coffee :XD:

    8. Nothing too special about my name.
It's the name my friend and sister jokingly gave the name of the BJD twin I would probably own out of the twin dolls my sister and I plan on having. This probably won't actually be the name of the doll but it's a temporary name since I'm terrible and keep forgetting the name I picked out for my doll. I guess if I can't remember the name, then it's not meant to be. (Plus I have the hardest time thinking of names in general. Maybe it'll be easier once I actually have the doll)

    9. My parents originally wanted to name me Bowhead; my dad says the name just came to him one day. When I was in college I found out it's a type of whale. Since then I've used this name for my artistic projects.

    10. when i was a kid i didnt have a nick name nore many friends seance we moved alot or i was home schooled. so when i did finaly get the chance to make some they decided one day we where going to give each-other cave man names. so my name candice turned into "Candarck" I have used it ever seance for the longest time it was my only nick name other then Candi or candy cane. lol! now iv also been given a korean name by my korean husband, and another nick name meaning mint candy from some korean kids that didnt know what to call me. But candarck will always have a place in my heart as #1! .....latter with thoughs same friends they also gave me another nickname from playing D&D "Gorp" i dont use it much but that one is also fun!

    11. I normally go by another name but that was taken on tumblr so I had to come up with something else. At the time I was learning how to knit (human size) socks and exclaimed it would take a act of voodoo to make socks. Sounded like a good user name to me. So I decided to use the same user name here. :)

    12. It means absolutely nothing whatsoever. It was what I named one of my Etrian Odyssey characters so it has some good memories associated with it.

    13. Ruyi (如意) is Chinese for "as you wish" or "as you desire" as well as the name of a ceremonial scepter used in Buddhism and imperial courts. I chose it as my pen name when I started on the CN > ENG novel translation scene (because I was bringing readers English translations of stories 'as they wished'), and I've brought it with me here. Since "Ruyi" was already taken, I went with Ruyilala because it sounds like 'rue la la,' which I thought was a fun touch. :3

    14. It's my username for everything, haha. It's lyrics from a Nightwish song.

    15. On a slightly different note, I’ve explained my username, but my caption is from Wide awake by Lacuna Coil, and it’s cause I had a staggeringly good day, and some other lines from that song have become super true (“freedom begins when you get out of the cage you’ve built” and “all of a sudden I know that I treasure my life” and “I challenge my limits, I’m feeling I’m becoming limitless” and “open my eyes and the sky’s so blue”) cause just, I’m really happy right now. And I feel awake and alive, and I love my best friend!

    16. I haven’t heard the song (I’m going to google it now!) but I totally think your username is epic.

    17. Applepip because of my name: Pip Appleton

    18. Obsequious is my favorite word, I always use it as a username if I can. I don't really know why, it's just a juicy word.

    19. MadRatBird is my everywhere name. Though I got it from a 'what's your pirate name' generator when I was like 18 or 19 lmao. I liked how it sounded so was like SURE I'll take it! I use it as my art handle, my login for overwatch, my login for... everywhere just about.

    20. It's just my cats name spelled weird and then her eye color. Nothing deep, I just needed to figure out a username to use for things and it ended up sticking.

    21. "emanresu" is "username" spelled backwards. I'm not the most creative with usernames and the ones I used to use are typically taken. This one usually isn't, and neither are its variants. I use it just about everywhere nowadays.

    22. mine is just my name nothing special :)

    23. I just used my RL combined nickname/last name, to be consistent and transparent since I planned to buy/sell on MP from the start. Not very creative, but pretty efficient.

    24. "ophelia" reflects my interest in Pre-Raphaelite and neoclassical paintings about British early modern characters, particularly Shakespeare's Ophelia. It was a strong interest of mine 14 years ago, but the handle feels a little awkward to me now.

    25. my current name is also my DA username... actually, i like to use this name on most sites that i could register it on. (coincidentally, it's also the name of a famous turkish poet, so there are some places that i couldn't register under this name)

i am not from turkey if some are wondering... when i came up with this name it was actually meant as a pun... since my real name means 'sun'. in keeping with my malay/indian heritage i chose the word surya, but i wanted to make it sound more girly so i added the 'e' in the middle.

& a few years later... someone from turkey told me that the word sureya means sun in their language. ha ha...

    26. Dahlia Devere is a character I created for a doll. This name is so old and I'm giving the doll a makeover and renaming her. But I'm glad I still have it for my DOA name. It was such a fun and creative time when I worked on that character.

    27. Colocat is the username I use on every BJD related place I'm active on.
"Co" is the beginning of my first name, "lo" is the beginning of my last name and "cat" is my favorite animal. Simple as that. ^_^

    28. The origin of my name starts in 2006 on World of Warcraft. I used to randomized feature and it popped out Chriandra. I loved the name and it became the name of my first, and most beloved, main character. Since then it's just the name I've used everywhere. :)

    29. Micha is a variant of my first name, and what I want to start using as my nickname (how do you randomly get people to stop using the nickname you have been for years?)

Mae was my favorite grandmothers name.

    30. Ok so I always said I would change my last name to Wayland as a kid (getting married so changing name to my husband's instead) and made a few game account Wayland and waylander were taken so waylandor was created as my gamer tag to this day I love it as it is something I identified with but the "or" at the end give a sense or mystery , confusion or curiosity depending how you read it

    31. Nothing very original, just my initials and a random number combo. I tend to forget any username that's more complicated than that.

    32. My username is a combination of my nickname and my favorite idol

    33. When I made my account I was figuring out watercolors for the first time, and I have a bit of a fascination with pastel clothing styles so I combined the two. Also, it sounds cute lol

    34. Mine is the name I go by (not my real name, but so many people know me as Zylphia it might as well be) plus the name of one of my all time favorite literary characters, A.J. Crowley from Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's Good Omens.

    35. It's my SCA name that I used for a screenname eight years ago when I joined the forum. I since (and probably soon after) switched my main username. I think it's the only thing I still use it on.

    36. I'm short and I tend to play devilish characters in RPGs. Simple as that.

    37. Mines based on Regular Show. I loved rigby and plus it is also my instagram user

    38. I'm a bit private about my doll hobby, so I wanted to pick a brand new username that I have never used on any other social media accounts (Taciturn is my usual go-to username).

I'm small, so I picked the word "slight" to represent me here.

    39. So the inspiration for mine is the manga/anime D.Gray-Man. There's a character on there called Lavi, and I just added "ly" on the end of his name to make "Lavily" ...I also really like it because it sounds like the word "lovely" (at least how I say it). For this reason, my BJD YouTube channel is called "LavilyDay" <3 it's not overtly anime/manga related, which I think is nice too.

    40. A cynosure is a person or object that is revered or admired. I figured it was pretty fitting for a forum centered all around dolls, haha. Its the username I typically use for hobby-centric forums.

    41. miyako is an album name from a vk band called Kagrra, but they disbanded some years ago.

    42. Mine is because my Grandson calls me “Nanou” not Grandma, Nanna etc and he loves dinosaurs (plus I am a bit of a dinosaur in some ways!)

      • x 2
    43. Mine is just comprised of two things that are a part of my idealized mental image of myself. Sort of a "best self" identity. :kitty2

    44. Stags and forests and middle of nowhere wildlife remind me of the good parts of where I grew up. I like houses and I love the word. "Staghaus crew" is a great description of, well, my crew.

"Haus" because I love German as a language and it was my gateway into linguistics. I'll resist waxing poetic because I know I'm in the minority here, but I really love grammar.

    45. Ash hoppers are an insect enemy from Solstheim in the Elder Scrolls / Skyrim. My name is Ash, and I like Solstheim a lot. I thought it was a cute pun.

    46. Mine is pulled from my email, but the explanation is still pretty funny.

When I first made the email, I was probably like 12 or 13. And of course I was in loooooove with this boy (name started with M lol) so i thought, hm. Maddison (my name) loves M. So = maddison< 3m, take away the "less than" sign, you have maddison3m. I still talk to the M boy, but unfortunately we were not soulmates as I had thought when I was 13 :sweat:lol::lol:

    47. Nickname and favorite number.

    48. It's the name of a character I created years ago. I had even started a drawing a manga storyboard for her a long long time ago. But I never finished it. I'll make dolls of her and her sister some day. Probably. If I do, I'll have to learn how to make poseable animals because they share their magical essence or "life force" I guess. I had a specific word for it back in the day that I had made up for it. Being as that was 15 or more years ago, I don't remember it.

    49. Mine is my name i started using wen i started customising dolls

    50. Mine is pretty simple. It's my initial (minus my now married name) and the fact I'm a writer. {shrugs}.

    51. Well, it's a little silly, but I like Fairies and butterflies a lot, and just kinda slapped elements of those things together in a way that seemed cute to me.

    52. Mine is a nicname I use a lot online (mostly Xbox) but it came around in middle school. It's a long story but my best friend and I created names that we thought suited us better than our 'real' names and used them throughout school. I love it, so I use it as often as I can.

    53. Mine references viewing the Aurora Borealis (or Northern Lights!)

    54. Caisha was the pet name of a character in a book series that I was reading many years ago, and I just liked the name.

    55. gin and vash, two of my favourite characters from comics

    56. Mine is the name of this smug fellow from the Pili puppet show Thunderbolt Fantasy:

    57. To be honest I can’t rember how I first came up with my username, though it’s one I’ve used for quite a while... all I know is I changed Immortal to Emortal because at the time I was in my emo phase :XD:

    58. Mine is synonyms for if you chopped my real name in half. First name is Autumn, first half of my middle name is Rain, Autumn Rain became Season Weather, because Autumn Rain sounds kind of fake and is also usually taken :XD:

      • x 1
    59. I like birds. A lot. I draw them a lot. There are people who draw floating heads and eyes, and then there are people like me. Drawing random flappy wings and bird tails, or an occasional bird head. Jackdaws are one of my favorite birds. Lord at the end was just something that fit well with jackdaw.

    60. Mine was my made up childhood curseword, it doesnt really have a meaning.
But I think when i was in kindergarden it meant something like rotten field, mostly because mark is field in danish, actually lur means nap but the word has no relation to napping.
It just stuck on and its my name on quite a few platforms.
