What’s the weirdest accessory you’ve looked for?!

I’ve got a character with reallyreally bright green eyes that I cannot find anywhere, so I have to make my own(so close!)

And I’m still looking for a strange type of wings, translucent dragon wings, that I may have to sculpt out myself...^^’ I dunno if those are strange really but yeah...xD a screwdriver sounds interesting!!

 

The weirdest I’ve actually looked for is multiple large guns a size smaller than the doll. (He’s 72cm, but I’m looking for SD props to get through the idea that he is Huge.) I want to find YoSD ramune marbles, too...

 

Hmm, probably a giant 50cm+ long/tall gun xD My character RAYNE is living in a post-apocalyptic world and she is never without her ridiculous oversized gun... which I will probably never be able to find.

I'm also always on the hunt for an ornate oversized scythe XD The closest I've found is that one RingDoll has but it's not quite as pretty/big as I want, I'm thinking it might have to do though. I can always add things to it...

 

Shonokin's familiar is right up there... Her favorite form is a "Miniature Giant Spider"! (She ended up being an EveStudio Tarantula. )

 

My weirdest doll props:

-Lakin has a mini Mars Rover Curiosity.
-Luc needed a number 6 billiard ball. Only 6, and no others.
-Kier has a St. Christopher pendant that looks just like a 1/3 version of the one my husband wears.

But...I also have a few adult toys for my SD crew. Saw them on Taobao, could not pass them up. I work at Spencers and sell those things every day, and these are pretty accurate looking. So...while I wasn't actively searching for them, they probably are the weirdest props I own.

 

I’ve been searching for a yosd transparent raincoat. I have seen yelllow ones for msd, but alas no transparent ones. I’m thinking I might have to make my own out of a transparent plastic table cover. I have transparent thread, so, looks like a fun project!

 

In one of the fantasy worlds my dolls come from, they have glass spheres filled with light magic. One day I got the thought, "Hey, I could use miniature sphere Christmas lights to represent them!" and then I ended up wasting my time browsing a section of Amazon I've never even considered looking at before. -_-

I haven't actually bought them yet, but now the idea's planted in my head...

 

Uhhhhh let's see.... Adult toys for Kentarou is one thing that counts? I'm also in search of some guns since I've literally hoarded half a police force in my collection...

 

I'm on the lookout for sci-fi/futuristic-looking guns, since a couple of my dolls live in the distant future. Not sure I'll ever be able to find those. . . I might make something

A little red clown nose for my 11 cm tiny DZ Nono. He had a reindeer outfit (from Mattel) and I noticed on a Mattel website that the original outfit (for Kelly/Shelly) had a red nose that fit around the head with elastic. So for a long time I looked on all kinds of sites that sell second-hand Mattel clothing just to find that nose.

 

SD skateboard, which is, weirdly enough, very hard to find. I got one by chance but it broke when I moved ToT

 

I need a wheelchair.... someone linked one on a facebook page, its a bit modern for what i want but... in a pinch XD

 

I figured I'd never find them and have to make them myself, but Dollmore had a FANTASTIC pair of motorcycle goggles that were just what I needed .

 

A tiny cigarette lighter. Finally found some old fashioned ones that actually work (if you fill them with fluid & a wad.) I got some cigarettes from Dollmore & figured the dolls needed some way to light them. The lighter is still a tiny bit larger than I wanted but it fits in a 1/3 doll's hand. It was pure serendipity that I got them. An elderly friend had passed & while another friend & I were clearing out his apartment for the family, I found two of them in a drawer. Almost missed them.

By the by, several of my dolls smoke but I don't. It just goes with their characters.

 

My two weirdest were selvedge denim not dyed with indigo. (I finally found a 7oz white denim which I have to dye navy myself with fiber reactive dye.) And an astronaut helmet from just before Project Mercury (first human spaceflight program in the USA). I'm going to use a plastic belle jar (cut to shape) to fit because it won't shatter.

 

It's not really "weird" but different gems to make chokers for an SD thats coming in

 

I tend to make props, especially the ones I can't just buy easily, so I don't have to hunt them often... It took me forever to find a Rubber Duckie sized for Pip, my pukipuki. I wanted an actually rubber one.
Let me see, the weirdest prop I've made, now... Probably the skewered fish. It's meant to be a fish in the process of being cooked over a little prop fire, but in the box with the other props it's just a fish onna stick, flame seared.

 

I have a Granado Jaden whose character is from Scotland and I wanted bagpipes. I found some that were from Build-a-bear but not only are they too small, they're too unrealistic! Still on the lookout!

 

Ugly Christmas sweaters. Or Christmas anything wear. The fact that wine bottle 'clothes' fit BJD's quite comfortably is just... Awesome. I got a Yo-SD sized apron from a set that was supposed to go on a wine bottle and it's too cute.

 

@Mayhem My parents several years ago bought me a lighter that was a huge rifle and it is the perfect size for one of my 72cm boys try going on amazon and searching for "bolt action refillable butane grill & bbq lighter" I know you said "smaller than the doll" but you still might be able to find the right sized lighter. It's worth a shot

 

Yo-sd Confederate uniforms (and matching little flags). (The tinies being the same size and having a more rag tag appearance I can do myself).
(The Union has no yo-sd's so I have to custom them for the several different sizes they have).

 

I've been searching for a metal-like jointed tail for my Beelzemon character. There was one that I found that looked pretty close several years back, but I'm not sure why I didn't snag it. I've thought about making my own, but it just seems too daunting at this time as I've got several other projects that I'm working on.

 

Mayhem, try Amazon for your miniature guns. I bought quite a few of them years ago, they are intended to be key chains.

I found a Doctor Who sonic screw driver in a card and novelty shop, just the right size for a MSD. It lights up and makes sounds, pretty cool!

I found perfect to scale silverware for my 1/3 scale dolls in a scrap booking store.

I found thin brass dragonfly wings intended for making those Tiffany stained glass lamps, but they are just right for my MSD faerie girl.

 

Hmmm.... The "weirdest" I've looked for is probably a tiny brass cauldron for a character I no longer plan to shell. I may still keep it, might find a use for it somewhere else, or I might try and find someone to give it to, not sure yet!

 

Probably Taylor's kinky leash ring choker; the one she's wearing in my avatar, actually. Night Market really delivers on edgy accessories for BJDs.

Do need to find a pair of 1/3rd scale Beretta 92 Inoxes for Sage at some point, too. Cyberpunk detective needs her firearms of choice.

 

I forgot the other weirdest - BOOZE! I have a tiny bottle of bacardi that's perfect for MSD scale that has real liquor in it.

 

I wasn't really looking I just sorta found myself looking at a kitty key chain, made as a phone charm. I was like hmm this really cute I think my girl would love this. Now this key chain and it's multicolored friends are like a staple.

 

Does a 1/4 scale huge manta ray pillow count as weird accessories ? xD
Basically, it's the favorite animal of my doll (don't ask me why I don't know either xD) so I'm currently searching for manta ray accessories x)

 

One of my doll's characters is a doctor, so I found some action figure sized medical props for him. Those are a bit unusual.

 

Crutches? I didn't bother to look so I'm not sure if there are actually any, I just figured there wouldn't, or wouldn't be the right size for my doll, so I made some out of Sculpty and they turned out not too bad, but I'd still like to try some making wooden ones from Balsa wood one day.

 

Wasn't looking for them, more like ran into them on Etsy. Working Bjd vibrators. With batteries. Yep. This actually exists...

 

One has to wonder, 'why?'

I've a ton of unusual or hard to find props. I've got 1:3 scale musical instruments (guitars, drumset, flute, violin, keyboard, African drum, tamborine); katanas, broad swords, rifles (one is that lighter rifle somebody mentioned), pistols (got a 'cowboy' 6-gun w/holster set at the grocery store toy aisle LOL); tons of china - as in full set of quasi-blue willow, another full set of white & gold, 5 tea-sets, cups, mugs, beer steins, wine glasses - I've been collecting tiny dishes for decades, tho. Also have collected the tiny liquor bottles so have bunch of those. I found cutlery all over (Am Girl Doll stuff, thrift shops, craft stores). I've got an anatomy class set, a doctor's handbag, a set of tiny tools. I've a loom, a sewing machine, little knitting needles, spools of thread, bolts of fabric, even a pattern - all in 1:3 scale
I also managed to find a ton of witchy props for my coven circle LOL Tiny Tarot decks, an iron cauldron, crystal ball, little Ouija board
Talking slightly bigger, I've got an SD size pool table & Foozball table LOL Plus managed to get one of those Asian tea-tables that are the perfect size for a doll dining set (plus I've chairs for it).
My proudest achievement tho is filling up 3 bookcases (one quite a large one in doll-scale) with tiny books

 

Recently, I've been looking for nice rope to fit my BJDs for photo fun.

 

Mine is a Roman Centurian helmet. I haven't put much effort into the search for the helmet or armour because I don't yet own the doll, but I think I'll end up making or commisioning his entire outfit. That scares me--even my simplest sewing projects look like they were made by a blind orangutan--and it's probably the reason I haven't hit "Buy" on that doll yet.

 

I can't say there's a lot I consider weird, I'm pretty open-minded regarding accessories for dolls. We're shopping for dolls after all. I guess the weirdest thing might be some transparent boots? I guess that's clothing, but I consider it an accessory because boots aren't mandatory for my collection.
Yep, I've been trying to find transparent doll boots for the longest time as a gift to a friend. Still lookin', lol.

 

Teleri, My collection sounds almost identical to yours, though I do not have a Foozball table !!! I do have two 1/4 scale replicas of Tutankhmun's thrones though, and a sterling silver 19th c German tea set, as well as an antique cloisonné one. I love miniature tea sets !

 

I'm looking for masks, like gas masks .

 

A 1/3 appropriate sized bird cage which I found as wedding party favors. Most miniature bird cages were 1/12

 

eye lace... what a better word to describe it but yes.. i dont get what's it for and it's not for sleep mask either o .o

 

Drug paraphernalia is probably the 'weirdest' accessory I've shopped for before. Found a complete stoner's paradise kit on etsy

I have a doll sized kendama too, I haven't seen many of those around, so I guess that's pretty weird.

 

I don’t know how unusual these are, but some difficult-to-find props for my and my friend’s crew have included various drug paraphernalia and adult items, a skateboard and an umbrella, some of which I tracked down and some of which I crafted.

Still on the hunt for a cute SD-size bicycle in a vintage style, preferably baby blue. It is important to the story but outside my ability to create.

 

Hmm weirdest accessory I'm currently looking for is a sacrificial altar. I figure I will just get a stone to serve as the altar as Youtube has videos to make all sorts of doll furniture but nothing for altars to have your dolls sacrifice other dolls lol.

 

The weirdest for me is a guess a scythe, or a toy zebra that’s a similar size to the doll so I can modify it to be a doll stand. My on order popovy’s gonna sit on it, side saddle

 

Doll sized rubber ducks which float well are hard to find!

 

I don't know if you've found something in the meantime, but I found an antiqued wheelchair at DOLK. It's a little more modern than I wanted, but it's very pretty and has a 1930s-1940s feeling.

 

I was looking for a proper sized fish when I was taking a picture. This proved to be a very difficult task.

A screwdriver sounds like an interesting piece of dolly accessory! I myself just bought my doll a garter for her thigh, but I don't think it's that weird I suppose

 

Lacy stuff for my 70 cm boy maybe? Never did find anything I liked

 

Now I got this urge to get my dolls who are modern dwellers (Noah and Kazumi) gaming systems and laptops. I know once upon a time keychains of DS's existed and there are mac compacts.

 

I like Elizabethan collars or neck ruffles on my dolls. They are hard to find. Round eye glasses and Victorian boots have taken up a lot of my search time as well. But I guess a gargoyle and bat are probably the most unusual things. I would like a realistic plush wolf but everything I come across is too expensive or too fake looking.

 

I do not have a doll yet but I definitely like to look for random stuff whenever I can! Probably the most odd thing I have found myself looking for is a tiny pack of gum, just.. a strange thing to want a doll to have!

 

I want SD sized Elk that are realistic looking and not very plushy looking. I look every xmas, and nothing yet is what I want.

The strangest prop I'm trying to find is a or accessory is Mouse ears for my girl Aida, you know like magnetic ones. Surprisingly they are hard to find...

 

For now, the weirdest thing I have found myself looking for is pilot's overalls like the ones from the air forces. Really need one of those for my girl in process... I may even need a helmet but that's not #1 in my list.
