BUFFALO MEET UP - FEBRUARY 2024!

For February our theme is anything red and/or pink (including dolls ), and lingerie or pj's. As usual, though, all BJDs are welcome regardless of shape, size, or what they're wearing.

February's meet-up will be at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore. I was able to book the small meeting room there for Sunday, February 4th at 2:00 p.m. We have the room for 2 hours.

The Kenmore branch is located at 160 Delaware Road. There is some parking under the building, but street parking is also available. The meeting room is on the first floor, so it's easy to find. The bathrooms are on the second floor in the library and there is elevator access for anyone who might need it. I have included a link below.

BUFFALO MEET UP - MARCH 2024!

BUFFALO MEET UP - APRIL 2024!

Sorry for the delay in posting. I've been battling the flu for the past couple of weeks and have been kind of brain-foggy.

April is almost upon us! The meet-up will be at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore on Sunday April 7rd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. We'll be in the small meeting room on the first floor across from the steps leading up to the library proper.

Our theme for April is 'Doll Bodies.' I know from personal experience that the second question on my lips whenever I see a new doll at a meetup after 'what kind of doll is that?' is 'what is the body like?' I would imagine that many other collectors feel the same way, and for good reason. After all, BJD companies put as much - if not more - thought and design effort into the bodies they produce to make them not only beautiful and unusual, but also strong and poseable. How could we not be interested in examining and appreciating them in all their glory?

This month we get to satisfy our curiosity. Have a doll with a particularly well-made or terribly-designed joint system? Bring it. Have one that is strange and unusual with extra joints and body parts in places they don't belong (Doll Chateau I'm looking at you)? Bring it! Have an older doll from the early days of BJDs when times and doll bodies were simpler? Bring it!! Have a doll that's been languishing naked in a box since you got it because you just don't have the spoons to dress it? Bring that too!! Together, we'll study an aspect of our dolls - and everyone else's - that is usually hidden under clothes.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it today , my cars been acting up and Im nervous about driving too far before it's looked at this week (I'm the rochester person from the last meetup!) I'll hopefully be able to come next time!

BUFFALO MEET UP - MAY 2024!

Our May meet-up will be at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore on Sunday May 5th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. We'll be in the small meeting room on the first floor across from the steps leading up to the library proper.

We're going to be playing our 'Wild Card' this time out. Bring whatever doll - or dolls - you've been wanting to share with the group, but they didn't quite fit in with the themes we've played with so far. We're also wild about new dolls, so bring your fresh resin so we can share in the excitement of your latest acquisition and get a whiff of that wonderful 'New BJD' smell at the same time.

People have also been floating the idea of various kinds of exchanges, and I was thinking that if we coordinate them here then maybe we can get that idea off the ground. Someone mentioned a fabric and trim exchange today, which, as a seamstress, I love. Like most people who do a lot of sewing, I have an abundance of scraps in my stash from projects I've completed that I'll probably never use again, but might really spark joy for someone else. I'll definitely be going through my piles and pulling things to bring to the next meet up. If people have other types of trades or exchanges they'd like to see, mention it in a comment and we'll try to make it happen!

BUFFALO MEET UP - JULY 2024!

My apologies for posting this so late. June got away from me!

There’s been a little change in the meet-up schedule for the summer due to the library being closed on Sundays in July and August. So in order to continue meeting in one of the conference rooms there, we’re temporarily going to meet on Saturday both of those months. Due to the Fourth of July, another change is that the July meet-up has been moved from the first weekend to the second to avoid interfering with family gatherings.

July’s meet-up will be at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore on Saturday July 13th 2nd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. We'll be in the small meeting room on the first floor across from the steps leading up to the library proper.

This month, our theme is your smallest dolls! Bring your Tinies and Yos for everyone to enjoy. Heck! Bring your MSDS and SDs if those are the smallest you have. BUFFALO MEET UP - AUGUST 2024!

Can you believe we’re coming up on August already? This year is flying by!


This month's meet-up will be at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore on Saturday, August 10th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and for August our theme is going to be Ren Faire.

This includes any type of character you’d find wandering around at one of these events, dressed in anything from fancy Medieval or Renaissance attire to rogue and tavern wench chic. There’s also fairies and all sorts of supernatural beings to be seen, and mysteriously devilish figures sporting horns. So come one, come all, to the current Middle Ages – and bring your dolls! And as usual, all BJDs are welcome regardless of shape, size, or what they're wearing.

BUFFALO MEET UP - SEPTEMBER 2024!

After a whirlwind August, September is upon us and the library will be open on Sundays again as of mid-month, so we’ll be moving out meet-ups back to Sundays!

Due to Labor Day weekend and general back-to-school chaos, September’s meet-up will be held at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore on Sunday, September 15th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The theme for this meeting is a smorgasbord of several things we discussed at our meet-up in August.


First of all, doll furniture – whether it’s a single chair or a whole apartment.

Second: bring whatever BJDs you want to, dressed in whatever they feel like wearing (new ones are a joy to see, but tried-and-true favorites are always welcome!)

And third: whatever off-topic dolls you’d like to share with the group. So bring your Barbies and your Ellowynes, bring your Monster High dolls and Bratz. Nineteenth century antiques? Definitely! We’d love to see them all!

BUFFALO MEET UP - OCTOBER 2024!

October’s meet-up in the Buffalo area will be held at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore on Saturday, October 12th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. With Halloween just around the corner, the theme is SPOOKY TIME!

Bring your witches and ghouls, your zombies and vampires, your demons and angels, your ghosts and goblins, your skeletons and f**kboys (Chad, I'm looking at you), and your trick-or-treaters!

Also, bring treats if you feel like it and we’ll have a little Halloween party while we’re at it. As it will only be Day 12 of the 31 Days of Halloween, human costumes are optional, but welcome!

November Buffalo meet-up is scheduled for Sunday, November 3rd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore. November's theme is Friendsgiving! Bring your doll-sized tables and chairs, dishes and glassware, all the BJD-friendly plastic food you can carry, and any dolls you want to bring to the celebration. We're going to set up a big feast for our dolls and take tons of pictures! If we are so inspired, we might even create a little photo story.

Also, in the spirit of giving, we're doing a fabric swap. So if you have any bits and scraps of cloth that you'll never use, but someone else might want, bring those too.

It would be nice if you can let pookiekatie know if you're coming, just so she's prepared with adequate seating and food.

Our July meet up is going to be a little different: A Restringing Workshop run by Chad's mom, pookiekatie!

All you need to bring is a floppy BJD that needs to be restrung and a willingness to learn, and pookiekatie will bring the elastic and the expertise! A $5 donation is also requested from anyone who is participating in the workshop to cover materials.

We've had a little change of plans for the Buffalo meet-up this month. The restringing workshop will happen another time, but for July our theme is The Beach!

Bring your dolls dressed in their bathing suits, sundresses and sandals, t-shirts and shorts - anything that smacks of seaside fun in the sun! Sea mammals, fish, merfolk, sea monsters, and all horrors from the deep are also welcome! Or just bring any BJD that wants to join in, regardless of what they're wearing.

BUFFALO MEET UP - AUGUST 2025

OMG - where did July go? I thought I had plenty of time to put up the notice for August and suddenly we're at the end of the month!

The August meet up is schedule for Saturday, August 2nd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and has a low-key Wild Card theme. Bring whatever floats your boat! Whether it's a new addition to the collection, an older doll you love, a favorite you bring every time, or one that you've never brought before. Bring them naked. Bring them dressed. Doesn't matter. One and all are welcome!

Also, with the demise of Joann Fabrics, we're doing a fabric swap. The swap is not limited to fabric, though. You can also bring trims, yarn, doll-crafting supplies: anything you feel is BJD-related that you have no use for and are willing to share with your fellow collectors.

Whatever back-to-school time makes you think of - bring that! As always, the theme is just a suggestion. All BJDs are welcome regardless of who or what they are, and what they are wearing.

We are also doing another fabric swap for those who would like to participate. BUFFALO MEET UP - OCTOBER 2025!

It's Spooky Time again! October’s meet-up in the Buffalo area will be held at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore on SATURDAY, October 11th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Our theme, of course, will be Halloween! So bring your ghoulies and ghosties and long-leggedy beasties, and things that go bump in the night. Bring your trick-or-treaters, your demons, and your monsters, we love them all! Or just bring any BJD that wants to join in, regardless of what they're wearing.

Also, bring treats if you feel like it and we can have a little Halloween party while we’re at it. As it will only be Day 11 of the 31 Days of Halloween, human costumes are optional, but welcome!

And as we discussed in September, we will have a swap table at every meet-up for those who would like to participate. Definitely fabric, although it is not limited to fabric. BUFFALO MEET UP - NOVEMBER 2025!

November Buffalo meet-up is scheduled for Sunday, November 2nd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore. November's theme is Unfinished Projects and Blank Dolls. Have dolls you'd love to bring to a meet-up that are still as naked as the day you got them, or with half-done face-ups or mods you keep meaning to finish? This is the meet up you've been waiting for!

Bring them in all their blank, bald, and naked glory. We'd love to see them and hear all about your future plans for them or why you just can't seem to get them done. No judgment here, though! I'm sure we all have at least one (and in my case, I have many), so you're in good company.

And since it's November, let's include Friendsgiving in the mix. If you feel so inclined, bring your doll-sized tables and chairs, dishes and glassware, and any dolls you want to bring to the celebration.

Also, in the spirit of giving and sharing, we're doing a fabric and BJD-related item swap. So if you have any bits and scraps of cloth or doll items and accessories that you'll never use, but someone else might want, bring those too.

Seems like a lot - I know, but it's all just suggestions to help make the meeting fun. As usual, any BJD is welcome, regardless of what they're wearing or whether they fit the theme.

BUFFALO MEET UP - DECEMBER 2025

December again?! This year has flown by!

The December meet-up is scheduled for Sunday, December 7th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore. As usual, the theme is Winter Holidays. So whether your dolls celebrate Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Yule, Krampusnacht, or Festivus for the rest of us, dress them in their finest festive outfits and bring them along! Of course all BJDs are welcome regardless of shape, size, or what they're wearing. And we also love it when people bring their latest acquisitions!

BUFFALO MEET UP - JANUARY 2026

Sorry, folks. December got away from me...

The first Buffalo meet-up for 2026 is scheduled on Sunday, January 4th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore. The theme is BJDs and Non-BJDs.

Bring any dolls you love or collect that you would like to share with the group. Of course BJDs are also - and always - welcome; but let's open up the floor to any dolls you may have gotten as gifts for the holidays or the rest of your collections that you don't usually get to squeak about in public. Bring them to the doll people. We will understand.

BUFFALO MEET UP - FEBRUARY 2026

The February meet-up is scheduled on Sunday, February 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore.

With Valentine's Day coming up fast, our theme for the next meeting will be Lovers, Loners, and Lonely Hearts. So bring your OTPs, your power couples, your enemy-to-lover rivals. Conversely, you can also bring your lone wolves, whether by choice, or the ones who have been looking for love in all the wrong places, or dolls who you just can't seem to pair up no matter how hard you try. Who knows - maybe they'll find love at the meet-up. . Of course, dolls dressed in pink and/or red are also welcome or just any BJD you feel like bringing!

If you feel so inclined, you could also bring candy, treats, or valentines to share. Hope to see you there!

BUFFALO MEET UP - MARCH 2026

This month, we're doing a redux of what we did last year! Our theme will be the Fae in all their glorious and varied permutations. Fairies, Pixies, Gnomes, and Elves. Dryads, Brownies, Leprechauns, and Goblins. Selkies, Merfolk, Dwarves, Changelings, and any others I might have missed. Bring them one and all! Of course, as usual, all BJDs are welcome regardless of shape, size, or what they're wearing.
