I would be interested as well! I'm originally from western upstate NY and I usually bring a doll or two along when I visit my parents. I love being able to line things up so I can attend a doll meet too!

A Western NY BJD Meetup? Ooh, I'd love to attend sometime! I'm not really available until my animation thesis is done, but if a meetup is scheduled sometime next summer I'd love to go. I'm just a short drive from Utica.

BUFFALO MEET UP!

Hello all! I'm going to be at the Barnes & Noble cafe on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst on Saturday, November 4th at about 3:00, hanging out with my zombie boy Sol. If you're available, come and join me! I've already spoken to the store and the people behind the counter and they have no problem with a group of doll people invading the place.

Since it will be the weekend right after Halloween, I was thinking that a costume/monster/anthro theme might be fun, but all are welcome regardless. I hope you can make it!

I also checked the Nanowrimo website for local meet-ups to make sure we weren't going to be competing for the same space, and we're not. They're meeting somewhere in Williamsville.

 

Had a nice little meet-up today in Amherst! We'll definitely be doing it again in December. Details to come!

During hockey season I work for the local team every Saturday, but if there's a Sunday meetup I can definitely make it.

 

Would love to try to make it between semesters - maybe January?

 

The only picture I have is one that I sent a friend of mine to let her know that I'd arrived and set up. I tried uploading it but it didn't work.

 

My plan is to do something in the Buffalo area at least once a month. When is your semester break?

 

I'll have the last week of December off, but we'll be traveling for the holidays. And we'll have one of our nephews during New Years. The best times in January are the weekends of the 6th or 13th for me if that's possible for you and everyone else? I'd try to swing a weekend before that but I'm in 2D animation so my free time is extremely limited. I'd love to finally get to a bjd meetup though, especially one in my home state!

BUFFALO MEET UP - JANUARY 2024!

To celebrate the New Year, January's meet-up theme is dressy/party/fancy attire. As usual, though, all BJDs are welcome no matter what they're wearing.

January's meet-up will be at the Town of Tonawanda Library in Kenmore. I was able to book the small meeting room there for Sunday, January 7th at 2:00 p.m. We have the room for 2 hours.

The Kenmore branch is located at 160 Delaware Road. There is some parking under the building, but street parking is also available. The library is on the 2nd floor and there is elevator access for anyone who might need it. I have included a link below.

I was told by the librarian that we can bring in food and/or drink as long as we clean up after ourselves, and no buying or selling is allowed on the premises.

Yes, I can make it and I'm super excited!

My folks will be accompanying me to the area because I'm not too familiar with it but they'll probably wander about during the meetup. I'm not young (I'm 39) but my dad still worries about me so we'll make a day and check out the area and restaurants while we're out there. I am curious though - should I bring my dolls in a box or bag? I'd like to bring Jack and Sally since their outfits tie into the theme.

 

You can bring your dolls in whatever you'd like to bring them in. I have a couple of MSD-sized dolls that I'll wrap in a towel and put in a bag, and one that is larger that I'll probably just carry in my arms. I did request an extra table for the room we're meeting in, so hopefully there will be a place for us to set them all up for everyone to admire and enjoy.

I'm not young either, and my daughter is 30. (She'll be joining us, btw. She also collects BJDs) Believe me when I tell you that I still want to make sure she's safe in new situations. The area is nice and are several restaurants nearby, so I'm sure your parents will find someplace good to eat. If they don't mind going up Delaware Ave a little way, there's a place called Mike & Joe's Bistro & Tavern that I really like.

 

Unfortunately I'm not up for a meetup right now, but I hope everyone has fun!

 

It was a lot of fun! Sorry that you couldn't make it. Maybe another time. We're having another meet-up in February.
