Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXVII

Shoes intended for the heeled SD16 legs will have a higher arch than the Volks SD/SD13 girl heeled feet are able to make, so they can't stand in them. I'd also say the SD16 heeled feet are slimmer than the SD13 feet so they may be too tight depending on the shoe.

 

I see, thank you for your reply About the arch - from my experience even super high high heels are fine despite the lower arch, but I don't make any complicated poses in them in general, so maybe that's why But if you say that they're slimmer then maybe that's why it's a slim fit only for the sd16

 

Ryo arrived home! After a bath, new elastic, new putty and some temp clothes, he's feeling fine.


The old elastic smelled a bit musty, but thankfully it didn't sink into the resin.

@CutieKitty SD16 heels can be worn by SD13/SD heel feet but they cant stand in it...
SD16 heels fit SDgrG heel legs perfectly however

@Nell In my mind, it was Volks testing the market for gothic looking dolls (lol), and I hope they release more Mana dolls too, in a different fullset (I hope for one of his Moi Dix Mois looks with the tears running down eye makeup look)

Those of you with the very early SD doll bodies (before pureskin), is there a doll stand you use that you like for that body?
The waist holder or the one that holds them from underneath? I got one of my grails recently, and I want to show her off, but her knees are floppy and I dont want her sitting down, I prefer to have her displayed standing but I would love to know which of the stands you recommend for that body, considering they have floppy knees and ankles... the newer SD bodies are a huge upgrade when compared, but I love the exaggerated arch the older SD body has.

@GreenTeaSlug - I personally prefer saddle stands for dolls that aren't stable standing, because the stand itself is holding the doll up. If the doll's legs stop supporting it's weight, they'll still stay up because they're resting their weight on the saddle. They're also nice to hide under skirts or dresses so they're not as visible

 

@Nell Honest to god, I don't really go above $500 for my dolls, but for Mana I would make an exception. Mana was like the EPITOME of beauty for me growing up, ugh!

@GreenTeaSlug I also am a fan of the saddle stands for the earliest bodies. The ones at the waist are honestly hysterical, their legs just give out every four seconds on them

At least with the saddle stands they can almost levitate with the bare minimum of their feet touching the ground! The Volks made ones are very sturdy and adjustable too so they are my go-to.

I've been browsing older sculpts lately and have wanted a Bianca/Rose since she came out, but just now started acting on it. Ryo will be the catalyst to jumping back into Volks...Well, SDs. I just got a White Rabbit a few weeks ago.

 

Ooooh, Rose/Bianca is on my list, too! Like with Ryo, I just need to find "The One" and I'll pounce. I'd prefer a full-set because I LOVE the dress, but on the other hand, I don't really like the full-set FU all THAT much. It's cute but I recently saw a One-Off Rose on Y!A with a custom FU by Kinoko that was so much cuter.

 

Hey all, I'm still unable to find a girl with Volks faceup to buy - a 2016 or newer SD13, SDGr, or SD16.
Should I try to buy the special William coming up, with the idea of trading him for a girl?
When Volks offers the FCS at the beginning of June, would I be able to buy one then?

What girl are you looking for? You should look on mandarake or buyee for a nice girl. I keep seeing very cute Rapunzels for a good price

 

Hello! I love the late model vibrant girls. I just looked at Mandarake. They have some beautiful Rapunzel SDGr fullsets. I hesitate to risk the high price along with buying overseas and second hand. But it's great to see it's an option.

I also love the girls like Pearl and Angela. I've never tried Buyee.
I just emailed VolksUSA to ask if big girls are available in FCS. I've bought SDM girls and clothes directly from Volks.

They do offer SD16s in the Volks USA FCS.

 

SD16 girl is gorgeous! I always want one but hesitate because I have no extra fund for SD16 clothes. I already have SD13 and SD17 doll...don't want another front line XD

BTW Angela is not SD16. She's a SDGr, but I really think she looks better on a SD16 body

Is anyone else dying for photos of Cecile with both of his eyes showing? Do we think we will even get a full-face photo prior to release? I'm going to order him anyways, but I would really prefer to see a full face shot prior to purchase.

I would love to see Volks make the Tokyo Story Boys in the grown up version.

 

From your lips to Mother SD's ears. Shirou and Yukinojo already happened but that SD17 Tsukasa they used as a clothing model for a bit haunts me to this day lol. Or grown up Isao. (Or another Olivia release you don't even need to resculpt her just slap her out with new knees and a faceup more like the original than the FDQ version I've never seen lips that weren't messed up on)

 

So would I! At least a grown-up Isao. I tried to make my own several years ago, with an SD13 Isao head on an SD17 body, but it just didn't look right. Recently it occurred to me that Hijikata, with a chin mod and the right face-up, could make a good grown-up Isao, but that means getting my hands on another Hijikata. Not sure which is easier, finding another Hijikata or waiting for Volks to make SD17 Isao, lol.

Sadly, I think the days of more Tokyo Story Boys is over. It's not a money maker like Oath of the Silver Coin.

 

Tokyo boys are my favorite, I have Yukinojo, Tsukasa, and SD17 Shiro. They did have options for several tokyo boys characters on the best of the best poll (which I voted for..Yukinojo's father and adoptive father) so thye seems willing to make them if people want them

 

I'm still crushing on RG Williams. But, I can't figure out if he'll be open to international buyers, and is it only VIPs?
It's great that VolksUSA will have preorders of Will2, and I should just go for him, but, you know how it is when you missed out on someone and have a slim chance....

 

I don't think so. When they sold the latest Reisner they also had the bandana covering one of his eye like Cecile and they never showed both eyes in the photos for him.

I've just seen a news that Volks is going to offer global membership (finally)!

I'm afraid that the news was announced on Volks' official Weibo account and since I don't have an account so I can't share the link to you guys here. (I only saw somebody posted a screen cap...)
More details will be released on 2nd Jun, but looks like overseas member will be able to as least buy member-only items from the stores, visiting Sato without reservation and will be able to join member-only activities.
Whether global member is able to vote for One-off and get FCS or not were not mentioned. We will wait and see.

Ah I'd totally sign up for the membership even if it didn't come with many perks. I still have my VolksUSA card from back in the day.

My bank account is about to take a big hit as I'm planning on getting both Williams and Cecile. It will be the largest doll purchase I've ever made and I'm super excited and happy that I have the means to bring both home! And of course very grateful that Volks decided to do a pre-order for them instead of the usual lottery.

Agreed. Both! I keep telling myself I am only getting Cecile but if Williams also finds his way into my cart I'm not going to be mad about it!

 

I'm glad that this community will be inundated with new Ceciles and Williams. Im planning on ordering both too, and I hope we won't have to wait a year or longer for delivery.

I've been buying a lot more dolls and outfits recently, and I need this to be my last big purchase for this year. And it'll only be half the year!

On a different note, I had a bad day yesterday and decided to cheer myself up by looking at dolls for a character I want to make, and I found a perfect Volks f-20 on Mandarake. I'm now waiting to see if he's in stock. Fingers crossed!

The more I've thought about the new pirate fellows over the last few weeks. the LESS inclined I've become to add either of them to the gang. I've decided that even though he'll be just ridiculously, insanely pricey, I'd rather horde up my "fun money" and eventually spring for an Andre.

 

@Brightfires - you're not alone! I was ready to sell off a lot of things to raise Williams funds when the photos first dropped but the more I thought about it, the more I knew a second SD17 is really not what I need for the collection.

Instead I got an SDM Williams to feed that urge and now he's pocket sized >.>

 

I on the other hand am relieved I’m not the only crazy head who wants both. There’s still time to talk myself out of Will tho. He’s so beautiful but the pragmatist in me says, really? do you need another Will?

then again this hobby has never been about common sense = =;. Whatever happens though, super excited for everyone ^ ^
