Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XVIII

Hi I wanted to ask a question. I was wondering if anyone has tried SDGr Girl hands on an SD/ SD13 girl body? I'm just wondering how they would look and fit. I really want my Charlotte to have new hands.

 

@Yurikun I did this for a while back when my Saki was still on her SD body. Here's a (really old) shot of her holding up those lovely hands here:



I thought they looked great on it, and the ball joint on the SD10 fit the SDGrG hands perfectly. More pictures of her with them on the SD body are in the early parts of Portia's album here. (I'm totally obsessed with that cute little fist hand - it shows up in a lot of her photos.)

 

Thank you @Amet that was very helpful. Your Saki looks very lovely on either body. I love how the hands look on the body. I would definitely be getting SDGr hands for my Chamille.

 

@sailorchiron Thank you! Yeah, you know Nono has always been on my list too but every time I see her in person I hesitated because she looks so different? I think now that I have her on a body I have come to the realization that her giant head needs a giant wig. Something with the grandeure of a drag queen and the grace of Marie Antoinette. It's probably just my love for 'Rose of Versailles" haunting me. I know you'll have a Mami and Nono in your future soon~

@Amet Thank you so much for posting those pics! I didn't know how graceful those hands could look on the SD10 body. I absolutely adore the look. Then again, it's Portia and everything about her is pure love.

@nakitaninja Thank you! I do feel the need to point out that she's since been modded, repainted, and plopped on an SDGrG and doesn't actually look like that anymore, haha.

Here are my two SD16 girls Hildegard (Johanna) and Leticia(Daria), still need to fix the connection hooks of Hil-chan's heel feet as they are broken... therefore her legs look shorter than Leticia's at the moment.

 

@Clementia that would be great. Thank you. I can't wait to see your Charlotte and what you've done with her. Custom dolls are my favorite. I'm loving Amet's Saki so much. I'm also going to add Saki to my wish list.i wonder if anyone has seen FCS white skin version before?

 

Well, Miss Rio arrived today. I can't say I'm too thrilled with the resin match. I had assumed that since her eyes were still hot glued in, I was getting them, but the seller took them out. The listing DOES say that she wasn't including them. Sigh. I feel like this body might be too mature for her sweet face. I don't know if I want to get her a more yellowed SD body and keep her original face up, or keep this body, and wipe her face and attempt to whiten her head a bit to match the body. I'm a bit conflicted. These are the only 22mm eyes I have, I need to get her some different ones. These are really low dome and look super flat. Her eye wells aren't quite the same shape, and I can't get her eyes to look exactly the same! No matter how much putty I stuff up against them, they move. Argh!

I was curious, has anyone ever given their Volks head an Anime-style faceup, similar to DD? Especially the old sculpts with the super large eyes and tiny noses. I'd love to see if anyone has. It's an idea I've been toying with.

 

@kittycrash I haven't seen a Volks girl like that, but I think there are some big-eyed Delf girls out there that have been painted that way!

Yeah that was me, and she actually has the same markings in the same spot on her legs as the other girl i got lol...
I guess no matter what they will always have those D;

The closest thing to an anime-type face-up on an "old school" head that I have over here is Anju, my F-14. He has little spots instead of eyebrows and could seriously put an eye out with that nose.

I have! Well, she's not SD sized but the YoSD version of SD Ryo/Nono 13.

I think for some of the older sculpts it works really well. Needless to say, I'd like to try it again.

@kittycrash I gave her Enchanted Doll eyes, but sometimes I put a pair of Oscar Doll Eyes inside.

Your Rio looks adorable! I really like the casual t-shirt on her. You know, I had the same eye well problem with my Nono 13. One of her eye wells was different (mostly due to damage) and they were just kind of an odd shape anyway. No eyes would sit flush. I bought one of these eye beveling tools from Volks and it did the trick! You just kind of spin it around in the eye well and grind away until you are happy with the shape. Now my Nono comfortably wears Volks 22mm glass eyes!

Hope you will find a better solution for her body and eyes.
It's often challenging to get good resin color match as well as eyes.

@Clementia I found some very interesting eyes on eBay actually. The seller didn't know the brand, but they look just like the Volks grey-green, and have that signature faceting the ZM eyes have. They look very pretty, I can't wait to try them! I'd like some for sure Volks eyes. They do sell them, but I don't like the colors much, I'm hoping to find some nice ones!

Here, I just finished face up of my Charlie (SD Charlotte 1st) as well as Franz (SDGr Minoru Kamimura).
Please excuse that promising hand has not been brushed yet and other hand is from my SDGr girl.
Since a couple of weeks ago I got Franz's head and according to the seller there was no yellowing but I found it differently.
After good sanding his head is now even smaller...

I also purchased several eyes from Ebay and they were all good for my purpose.
Often those items are also sold on Taobao.

 

@Clementia I love Charlie she is beautiful. I love her face up. I love how the SDGr hands look and fit on her. It makes me more excited and happy about my hands coming in. Your boy is very handsome as well. He looks so sophiscrated in his uniform.

I've heard that the Volks JP will offer SD16 full choice in Christmas again.

 

I've also done anime style faceups on dolls that didn't have disproportionately large eyes, and I love the results. It's not a Volks doll, though.

 

@Clementia Your welcome I love seeing people's custom dolls. They are always so beautiful and different from each other. Thank you I hope they come in sometime this week. They were shipped from Japan on Wednesday but the tracking hasn't undated since then

 

@Clementia, thank you for your answer! Your Charlie is very cute, the fancy hands suit her! Franz is also very cute as well! Minoru Kamimura is one of those sculpts that isn't around much anymore, which is sad since he's a handsome guy!

 

Wow I love this Saki! She looks far more mature than I thought this mold could read. Really inspired to see her stylized like this.

Full choice SD heads 31, 40, 43-46, 49, 50, 53-58, 62-68 are available in Sato only.

Looking at all the lovelies, is helping ease the pain of the wait for my first Volks FCS bjd after all these years. He was ordered in June. Perhaps maybe he'll arrive sometime in September? So anxious. I hope he lives up to my expectations! I can't wait to see what people do with their new fcs girls and boys.

I was so very tempted to getting an sd "Saki" boy in the recent order, but I managed to hold back. Lol

 

After scrolling through this thread I've realised I NEED Saki. I love her, all different expressive versions of her (@Amet you might have tipped me over the edge with your gorgeous girl!). I'm starting to have all these crazy plans where I buy a new SDgr just so she can have the body. I'm hoping it might be a good match for the Hummingdoll 57 body. Of course, as soon as I decided I needed Saki in my life she's sold out on the Volks international store! I want to try buying straight from them to get that whole experience, if that makes sense ^_^

 

@Clementia, Thank you! Alas, so sad. I've been dreaming of F-63 and F-67. Here's hoping Volks will put them in the online FCS in the future so more people have a chance to get them!

 

SDGr for Saki is the way to go- she's lovely no matter how you style her on whatever body but I am a pretty big fan of SDGr... here's my girl who I finally gave her a new body a couple days ago. She look a bit more natural (to me) on it than her SD10 body.

@Seditionary I absolutely *love* boy Saki faceup! I think that would be an amazing choice for the future.

@snowgray I, too, wish Volks would expand their FCS offerings! I wanna see a different sculpt being offered besides the standards. They are still gorgeous but... come ON! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the sculpts you like show up soon.

 

Seeing your photo is exactly my feelings - I am hoping to pick up a Mytyl as well to give her body to Saki ^^. Saki just looks amazing as an SDGr.

 

Well, and I failed at giving Saki Mytyl's body! Mytyl was so beautiful out of the box that I decided to keep her. Saki has since taken over Bellldandy's body while I figure out what to do next. Watch out with Mytyl! She's a really beautiful girl- much better in person/owner pics than the Volks promos...

Hello, I have a few questions about the SDGr body.
I am considering one for my Coco, and I was wondering if I need any special neck piece to keep her head from flopping around.
And I've also seen that the body isn't very stable and flops back easily. Is there a solution for that?

Thank you very much, I'd love to upgrade Coco to something new and I'm still researching my options.

Annnnd after struggling to get my Williams to sit I've realized I can no longer put off restringing him. His strings haven't been touched since he arrived from Volks...in 2011.
