I will travel to Japan in October and I want to visit some Volks store and see if there is any DCord in tan available, did you buy her in the Dolpo Akiba (doll point Akihabara) or in other Volks store? and regarding the tan skin they sell only heads or also the body? thanks in advance!!

I went to the Akiba store first, but I had plans and did visit the one in Yokohama. I found her in the Akiba store, they are on display in front of the cashier in the middle, I thought they were models for clothes, but theres place cards with full doll prices next to them

Not all options are available in all skin tones, I wanted the one piece torso's but they do not offer it in tan skin, you can see the offered options here:

DDH-11 and DDH-15 are COORD only, for COORD, you cannot choose anything
You have to get the doll as is on the display, the body, the outfit, the wig and eye, you cannot choose to replace with anything else

I wanted the cool staff uniform some of the other COORD dolls had, but the DDH-11 came in a school uniform, I asked if I can change it and was told it was not possible to buy or replace.

If its empty, you can start making your own dream choice (its packed on weekends, and almost always empty in the mornings) so I suggest you dont go weekend afternoons

for Doll Choice
You have a choice of body type (MMD, DDP, DDS, DD, DDDY) you cannot choose the hands, or bust types, it will come pre-chosen.

You have a choice of some exclusive wigs/colors for dream choice. Its better to pick some of the DC only wig colors, because they do sell some exclusive doll point wigs outside, that you can get as an optional part.

You can also choose eyes and eye size (the dream choice exclusive eyes are my favorite!) and it will come fitted with a dream fitter inside, so no glue needed

You choose the head (no DDH-11 or 15) in I think 2 makeup types, prepainted.

You also get a certificate, and they will show you your doll choice in a fancy box presented and assembled to you before they wrap her up and put her in the dream choice box.

You can then go around and pick out some optional parts like different hands and busts for your doll They did sell head only, but it wasnt a big selection, from the link I posted above, it shows that DDH-08 and DDH-09 are optional heads you can buy.

I went to Yokohama, its a very nice city, not far from Tokyo but I liked the clothes and offerings in the Akiba store a lot more because they had more store options

Ive seen some scans and it looks like the DDS and DD boy will be added, with a new head option DD DDH-17, which looks like an MDD/DDP

I really like Ram, but unfortunately, I doubt I will be able to try to get her, due to finances this year (big vacation trip coming up). We'll see, though. Depending on when their US release is, I may be able to swing it.

 

I am planning to get both of them. (I can hear my wallet is crying)
In fact, I actually hope they are announced in the next year so I can save up bullets ($$$) for them.
Well, hopefully there will be no balloting needed for overseas sales or the price in my country will skyrocket..
And let's see when will be the official sales launch date for the overseas market.

So, Volks USA on Facebook announced that Dollfie Icon is "coming soon." I'm assuming this will fall under the Dollfie Dream category. I'm interested to see what the initial offering(s) will be.

 

I really like them both, they're super cute as Dollfie Dreams but I want to get Emilia first Also need to save for more Sailor Moon DDS that are likely coming at the end on the year.

I'm curious to see what they are! That purple skin tone is

 

@paxita You can get dream choice even if you are not a Japan resident, all you need to do is go to the counter and say you want to do dream choice, if its empty, they will let you do it at the same time, if its busy, they will show you the schedule and you can pick a time to do it

Its busy on weekends, so better to do it on weekdays, the whole process takes maybe 30 minutes even though the appointments are by the hour

Ive only watched a few anime titles so far, but havent watched that series (yet)

They look nice and really good likeness to Gudako and Mashu. I love the black trenchcoat optional outfit on the Gudako! It looks amazing!
Ive only joined the Nier preorder before and there was no outfits, so I hope that the outfits are allowed to be preordered alone too for this release and not a lottery/ clickwar. I must have that black trenchcoat and beret

Im so excited for those two, they are very different in the face sculpt from the other DD (maybe similar to the Persona DD and Kosmos).

 

Mika Jougasaki was released as a Smart Doll so likely won't be released as a DD.

Just curious what makes you think that? That was his first im@s girl, they've never had an overlap and they're competing companies (not to mention his were so limited and not many people liked her).

I've been whining about Volks not releasing a new Idolmaster doll for a long time. There's so many characters I'm waiting for and the last couple of releases they did were not.... popular. Can't understand the thinking, but the lack of idol girls is getting me down to say the least. I have a list of characters I'm after and all the sudden there's no one at all lol.

That being said I'm finally getting my grail DD - a Rin Shibuya! She's one of my favorite girls in the series and I've been wanting her doll for ages. Just a few months left on the layaway and she'll be mine ^_^

 

@TomB Azone also released Rem & Ram before Volks did, and Volks still made them so Im optimistic for Mika being rereleased as a Dollfie Dream someday, with an actual scrunchie on her wrist lol

I really like SmartDolls after seeing them in person, and Danny is very nice, but I prefer their non Cortex line. Your Kaede and Mika look very cute together and their sculpt style goes well together, I was worried smartdolls and dollfie dreams dont mesh well with one another

Thank you!! I got the first version in her Idol outfit. I wanted the her second daily wear version, but I wasn't about to pass this girl up when someone was offering me a decent layaway finally (or finding her from not Mandarake or YJA period). I want to get her a new faceup and different green eyes because I think they're too big personally. Even with my Matoi years later, Volks still has a problem making their DD eyes too big hah.

I'm hoping for *all of them*. My favorites of course, Kirari, Mika, Shiki. Otherwise I'd like to see Nana Abe, Fredrica, Noriko and Shin Sato. Kirari and Mika and their sisters would make the most sense to be honest.

 

There are a lot of characters who have not been released in SD size.
In Volks' place I would not pay a licensing fee for a doll already released
as a similar doll. I would expect them to choose another. Could be wrong
of course; wouldn't be he first time.

 

Still a little sad over the preorder dolls being from a series I'm not a fan of instead of another iDOLM@STER release. I was really really hoping for two of the remaining original cast. Maybe one of them will be the Winter DD?

 

I don‘t know if it has been asked already, I‘ve browsed the thread but didn‘t find the info I‘m looking for.

Last year I‘ve entered the preorder for Nier Automata 2B and payed the down payment. After that Volks changed website and I have no record of my order except for the email confirmation. Does anyone know how we‘re supposed to pay the doll off? Will we get an email with a payment link?

I just checked and I found my order for 2B, and I placed my order on the first day of the ordering period

I make a lot of orders from Volks, and even though the preorder for 2B is older, its placed higher than the orders Ive made which were newer, you can use command+f and look for 2B and it should show you it in your order history (Im using the desktop not the mobile if that makes a difference)

You should be getting an email to pay the remainder when the time comes (with a payment date deadline) and they will tell you the approximate shipping date based on the date you placed your order (ie people who purchased at the beginning of the preorder period, will have their dolls shipped earlier than those who joined in the preorder at a later date)

You will have to log in and click the link on the email to complete your payment

The dates havent been announced, they just said delivery in fall 2019 so I think the emails will be sent within october

I'm getting a DDDy3 tomorrow & am wondering if any smaller bust options are available for them - even if a 3rd party company?

If not, no big deal, I'm more concerned about finding trousers and skirts for her butt!

 

You can mod a DD bust to fit on a DDdy. It's a real simple mod. I put an DD M-bust on my DDdy.

Ah that's promising @Cauldroness - I'd honestly prefer a standard DD but a DDDy became available first...

 

Here are some photos of my first Dream Choice doll that I got while I was in Japan! I was going to post sooner, but getting over the jet lag and starting school has been difficult to say the least.

He's a DDB model (I was so excited that they finally had boys!) with the DC-H-16-M01 head. I noticed that head immediately when I sat down at the counter and knew I had to bring it home. He has the exclusive T-type eyes in black and exclusive heroic short wig in purple grey. I'm incredibly happy with him and really love the sculpt.

It was so much fun being able to do the Dream Choice while I was there and the staff were incredibly nice. Luckily it was pretty dead when I walked in so I was able to get started right away!

How many people 'won' the Ren and/or Ram lottery? I kind of feel bad because I figured I'd lost and went and paid in full for another doll, versus putting it on layaway as originally planned.

School is always difficult to adjust to the first 3 weeks, but you will get used to the routing Good luck on the school year


@paxita from my experience, once you make the booking (usually its a walk in, when morning, but also check store times, I was surprised some stores open at 11/12 not morning!) you sit down at the counter and they get you a catalog. The staff person guides you through it basically like page 1 + 2 is the different types of DD (MDD, DDP, DDS etc) you make your choice, and they write it down on their form.

Then on to the other "step" pages, you choose the wig style and color etc, and then eventually you will reach a page with the head molds, I think only ddh11 and 15 are (maybe 17 too?) COORD only, so you cant choose them for doll choice. You pick the head mold, and they bring out the sample heads with face up options, I think there is only 2, but probably more now that there is male face ups. You will be getting a new head from the back, the sample head is just to show you how the combination of the head mold and face up looks, and I think how the eye choice you are choosing will look on it. The nice thing is that they already have that DD eye fitter installed for easier eye movement! Get the T series, its exclusive to Doll Choice and look very very very nice!

Before looking at doll choice, I would encourage you to look at the COORD's first (they are displayed on the table in front of the doll choice counter/ cashier)! Sometimes you might find the combination you want + they have a cool exclusive outfit that you cant get from dollchoice / the store. I would have really really loved one of their COORD's with the staff uniform, but none of the molds I liked were wearing them lol

600,00 JPY for DDDY. 580,00 JPY for DDP, DD, DDS and the MDD was 540,00 JPY. I just checked the pictures I had on my phone of the models.

I dont know about the boys, they were not introduced yet when I went there

This is without the tax, tax will be 10% beginning of October IIRC, but you are good to go if you bring your passport to get tax free shopping

Hi guys, I was wondering if someone here would be able to please help with a question I have! It's about the original DD base body/Dollfie Dream V1/ DDI (whatever it's called). The one that is partially strung. Does anyone know if there were optional hands released for it? Or if any other optional DD hands like for DDII or DDIII would fit it? For some reason, I can't find this information anywhere thanks for your help!

I haven't given him a name yet. I'm really bad at that! I'll give it a little bit of time and see what sticks.

I really doubt school will get easier for me. I'm starting my PhD so I expect the first few weeks to be the easiest!

As GreenTeaSlug mentioned, they do have a catalog of different styles that you can select from. In my case I saw the head up front on one of the display torsos where they showcase some of the new options. I realized that was the one I wanted right away. I really wouldn't be concerned with getting something you don't want though. They double check with you on your selections at each step and at least for the head/eyes/wig, they assembled a quick sample on a torso to double check before they start putting your doll together. Even then they wait for you to give your final approval before they wrap and box the doll for check out.

Overall I had an extremely pleasant experience and would love to do it again someday. The DDB was the same price as the DD/DDS options btw.

 

So I'm looking at the Volks pages this afternoon and the new fall clothing collection
is orderable on the Volks corporate site but it's an after party lottery item on VolksUSA.
Is this the norm? Will they block me from ordering it directly from Japan? What's the
best way to proceed I'd really like a few of those items.

 

USA customers kind of get to cheat - We can order from the Japanese site and our own. If you can get what you want from the Japanese site you absolutely can, they won't block anything. It's mostly just that if you miss something you get a second chance from the USA site.

I wonder when they'll charge for the remainder of the Nier preorders. I should have just done the full payment last year lol.

 

@Ian-KunX - I've been thinking the same thing. when will I have to make that big final payment? Do they send an invoice?
I use my debit card and I don't have that kind of money sitting in checking for long. wish I'd just paid it all at once.

Same here Ian-KunX, I can imagine the wait will be much longer for us and those who did not pay in full. I’m really excited though about these two, especially after seeing so many owners and their Dollfie dreams at La Dolpa. I think I’m going to try and find suitable eyelashes for 2B and 9S. I really liked the look of the lashes on the Dollfie Icons, and sort of want to add another Super Dollfie trait to these two.

I asked Volks USA about final payment for NieR dolls and they said it was up to Japan. No info yet on when they will ship.
But, it doesn't look like October. I hope they give us a lot of notice.

 

When I bought my NieR dolls the notice on the page said the dolls would be complete in November. I've not seen a thing since then to indicate anything else. To my knowledge Volks has never indicated how many were bought, as that might be a reason to place the timing for the release back a few weeks.

I'm getting excited to see them.

I'm a total newbie when it comes to Volks but recently I've been tempted by some DDH-XX that I wanted to try and read into the company. Does anyone have some useful tips or must-reads for someone new to Dollfie Dreams? There are so many abbreviations and weird talk that I'm a little lost... o__o;

 

The new dollfie dream pretty standard dolls are cute! But do any clothes actually fit them? It seems like volks says they fit the same clothes as MDDs but I would think everything would be way too short and look odd given that DDP also has a longer torso than MDD, in addition to longer legs.

 

Many of the most useful summary threads for prospective DD adopters live over at the old DD Forums. For instance, a) how to buy them via Volks lotteries, b) comparisons of different body types, and c) how to de-stain them. Those are some of the basics to know.

When you run into something more specific you want to know, ask away!

 

@Siara in case you haven’t looked already, the volks official site has a lot of useful information (including a database of all the limited dd, sorted by size)

this page is good to start on because it has the basic measurements and descriptions of the 5 different body types!

 

Thank you for the links, @Holo's Apple Tree and @c4tbus. I read them through thoroughly and find myself a little more knowledgeable by now. Now comes the next dilemma.

I love my dolls cute, sweet and diabetes-inducing so to speak which would suit these vinyl cuties since dark fabrics are scary due to staining. However I just can't seem to decide between the MDD and the DD/DDdy. I checked the stores I'd be purchasing the actual doll from and both are equally expensive which isn't helping my decision.

I checked the pricing on official outfits and third party and it doesn't seem like there's much difference in pricing between MSD and SD clothing either. Same for shoes and props and all that. My logic says to get the bigger DD since I'd have more vinyl for my buck but on the other hand I'm afraid I could never make the bigger girls as cute as the tinier MDD. I own some SD dolls and I'm fine with their height so I know their size is not problematic for me. They could also share clothing. On the other hand the MDD keeps poking my curiosity, I've never owned MSD-sized girls before but that would mean hoping we bond and getting a whole new wardrobe for just one MSD-sized doll (for now).

What is wisdom? I'm scared to make the wrong choice and regret it afterwards. Two cents, anyone?

 

Well, it depends on what you like. But I personally would recommend the DDdy size girls. I have own several DDdy, and I currently have three and they are amazing. The body might be intimidating because it has a lot of curves, but they fit most SD size clothes perfectly. You only need clothes specially made for the DDdy is you want to show all the curves better.

I have own some msd size dolls, and if you are use to handle SD size dolls is very difficult to get into a smaller size even though they are super adorable. But that was as my personal experience everybody is different. But I would recommend the DDdy because they are AWESOME
