:: Volks Dollfie Dreams Discussion Room :: Part XIV ::

Sep 18, 2016

    1. Seconding @Cloudedmind 's recommendation. I've had the same issue occur with a Japanese doll webstore (not Volks though) in the past, with a very similar error message. Turns out that the bank had blocked the payment because they thought that it was fraud (since it shows up as a purchase at a shop in Japan, as opposed to as an online purchase).

    2. NOPE... Not from the Bank... My Bank has always text me if there is something they see if might be wrong... I have been using VOLKSJP for the last few times, with the same bank... my Bank will auto see the "VollksJP"

    3. I'd call them anyway

    4. WELL... I went to my Bank and told them.. Nothing shows on my bank.. I even got on the phone with my Bank while I am at it....

Logging in and trying to pay... Same messages again for both ATM/Credit Card.... SO... TO PROVED that it's VOLKSJP... They only care for their people, which I understand. It looks like they don't give a shit about us Overseas... Since their sells have always been good without us anyway...
I have always LOVE our VOLKSUSA since the beginning.. The only thing is that you have too wait until they received the products....

      FAREWELL to VOLKSJP :sneaky

    5. Its happened in the mid of July: on the 14 I have bought something small from them, and paypal was OK, but on the 20 I had to use credit card to pay for Yuriko, and that time everything was just fine.

I have the same problem, I have wrote about it last week. And all the stuff they've listed on their site at after event sale still in stock, which is impossible in normal situation. Something is wrong with their payment system, I assume.

I have checked it online: they always post suspicious transaction in this case, but now its seems that they have no idea that I had tried to pay to someone. And after several attempts to repeat such transaction they used to block the card: nothing have happened this time, and I'd used the card for online purchases this week without any issues.

No, that not the case: as I already have mentioned it seems that this time bank just has no idea that someone trying to charge my credit card when I'd attempted to pay to Volks.co.jp.

    7. I saw the full face on the DD fourm and the faces remind me of SD sculpts on DD body. I was hoping they were like Luka where I wasn't interested too much in the scupt but unfortunately they did really well to my taste so I have to preorder in October. Rip wallet.

    8. I like how they look so far. Gotta find that full face picture now.

    9. Found it! **

    10. I really want them both. I really hope they will be available internationally for preorder!!

    11. @flivine Thanks. I did find them last night on the Dollfie Dreams website.

While I generally like them, and will probably order 9S. I do think they both look a bit younger then how they appear in game. 9S especially looks more like a young kid as opposed to an older teen.

Also, for those of you who have done Volks pre-orders before, I believe I've read that you can either do a deposit or full payment. If you do a deposit, can you then pay off the rest anytime between when you order and the final payment date. Or can you only pay off the rest on the finale payment date?

    12. They are a little baby faced, but I love them both anyway. I really like the way the sculpts turned out. I definitely want 2B, and I'd like to get 9S as well, if I can bring myself to spend that much money.

    13. Oh no, I really love them both! While their faces look younger than the game version, they came out really nice. Guess it’s time for me to save.

    14. I really love the way Volks styled them but something about their faces is just... meh. I probably should wait for better photos from different angles before making up my mind.

    15. I haven't played the game before but I really do like 2B's look. 9S is cute too. I wanted a DD boy who looks more like a guy than girl and he fits the bill. :) They did a nice job painting both of their lips.

    16. Same here, especially for 9S. I think the angle of the unmasked photo may be making him look younger and more "dreamlike" than he actually looks. His upper lip looks especially "pouty" in that pic, as opposed to some of his masked pictures.

I am tempted by 9S, but am going to have to pass, since I have a major vacation scheduled for next year, and unfortunately, any extra cash is being saved for that, so no dolls for me for the foreseeable future.

    17. Do Dollfie Dreams have heel feet or only flat feet?

    18. I thought they didn’t make boy bodies! Im excited and confused

    19. My Sheryl has flat feet

    20. As far as I know, they've only done one previous large Dollfie Dream boy, Kirito. They have also done at least one Dollfie Dream Sister size boy, Kagamine Len.

    21. They only have flat feet. However the ankle has enough movement that they can wear many heeled shoes/boots. Of course "open" shoes with a curved base to fit a heel foot will look odd as the foot would just sit across the curves rather than follow them.

    22. Thank you both!

    23. GOOD NEWS~ (the kind that deserves all caps!)

    25. Hahahahahaah! :3nodding:That just made my night! I totally had the same feeling as well... also about the year part too.... waiting. will. suck.

They are some amazing sculpts though... and worth the wait, I hope! I think I am going to turn 9s into a female character but I've never actually seen a male DD so maybe I'll keep him as he is! :sweat

    26. @nakitaninja I am a huuuuge fan of Nier and I have been so excited since March 2017 when they were announced. It's already been so long, but I think they look so fabulous and it will be worth it :whee: Nines would make a cute girl, I'm sure!

Edit: I just remembered that not everyone has played Nier! Basically they are androids, and they're meant for battle, so they're not supposed to have emotions or friendships. 9S goes on a mission with 2B and eventually asks her to call him Nines, what his friends call him. But it's unlikely that he has friends because he's a YohRa soldier android, so really, he just made up a nickname for himself and is trying to cement a friendship with 2B. It's so cute and sad, Niiiiiiiiiiinesssssss XD

    27. @bronzephoenix Yeah have you checked out the continuity from the other universe of Drakengard? Holy crow. It's some messed up stuff... I can't even. There's no appropriate synopsis because it's just so strange. :nowords: Great... but strange. Eye flowers look painful.

TBH the game is great but I LOVE the sculpt on these dolls and the face-ups. I was expecting something more along the lines of the Alissa (Godeater?) release and am super happy to see so much emotion on these android's faces!

I'd like to see clearer pictures of the faces though because you KNOW I am not wrapping a DD's head in black cloth no matter how cool it looks.:frownyblush: I'm nuts about keeping good condition and if I stained one I would pass out... especially after waiting a year to meet them!

    28. I thought about the female android, but that black will surely stain that lovely face, and then your money is gone out if the re-sale value. Sure Volks has cream to remove it but then the faceup comes off if you use it so it seems like a lost cause to put that blindfold on them. If I get her I would put a white blindfold on her face instead.

    29. Oh 9S is lovely...

    30. From some of the pictures I've seen it looks like the mask is backed in white.

    31. Ha ha honestly the first time I saw 9S face I was like ohhhh he will make a pretty girl! Should I buy him too just to make him a girl? Lol

    32. I know some DDs with black outfits had famously awful staining problems- I feel like DD Yoko's (Gurren Lagann) shorts stained a lot of Yoko bums- but I'm under the impression that Volks is careful about lining their black clothes for DD with white now? I would hope so, especially in this case with Nier *_* I'm sure they would line the mask, at least, since you can't use a body sock there. But I guess it's still a risk... I think I remember hearing that washing the clothes first helps remove excess dye? But I'm not a very good source for this stuff :doh

    33. YES!!!:D

Yeah- that can definitely help! Add a touch of white vinegar to the water to help remove the excess dye! Or if you are insane about condition (like me) you line it your self with white cloth and some nonpermanent fabric tape. Honestly I love her face so much I feel like I would want to see it all the time. :3nodding:

    34. Volks still makes DD outfits that stain. Even their white lined ones often stain because they use black thread to attach the white lining and thread is often one of the biggest sources of staining.

    35. This! I don't trust Volks lining because they use colored thread anyway, like on Sheryl Nome's outfit.
I've found that taping over the thread with Volks stain protection tape works, though.

    36. A bit late on commenting but I absolute love the new Nier Automata 2b. I'm not usually a big fun of their faces but her face is so pretty :D. If I would get her she would be my first dollfie dream ever. I'm excited!

      Staining worries me too.

    37. @jadepixel is totally right- even if you use the thin Volks masking tape to cover up thread- it works better than washing the clothing.

@Helmi As someone who can't deal with staining here's my brief words of wisdom: it's expensive but the DD bodies and parts are replaceable. If all your efforts go awry to prevent staining you can always buy new arms, feet, etc. It's much, much more difficult to replace the head. That's where the character of the DD is truly held -in the sculpt- and everything else is fixable!

      • x 3
    38. @nakitaninja Yeah there is always that option :aeyepop: It would be catastrophe to accidentally stain the head.

    39. I haven't played NieR: Automata (although I'd very much like to) but the character designs of 2B and 9S appeal to me very much. I was hoping that Volks would make them in a more semi-realistic style like they made Kujikawa Rise, and luckily they didn't disappoint! :D They are gorgeous and I wish I could afford them both, as it feels like a shame to separate them. But I'm definitely putting in an order for 9S because DD boys are still few in numbers and I want Volks to realise that there's a market for boys as well. xD

In relation to the discussion about staining, the blindfolds/masks have been lined with white. You can see it in the close up shot of 2B's lips: here (photo by cnvl at twitter). I highly doubt that the blindfolds have any top stitching because of the way they're sewn (they don't need it) so there shouldn't be any black thread on the white lining of the blindfolds at all. But 2B's dress' hem obviously has decorative top stitching, which shows on the lining as well with black thread... but luckily she has a body-stocking and the hem doesn't really touch her thighs so that shouldn't stain her. But using the body tape, as suggested by @jadepixel, on the hem would definitely help, if you're nervous about staining.

When it comes to staining, some types of fabrics stain more easily than others. I don't have a lot of Volks outfits for my dolls (I mostly sew their clothes myself), so I can only go by the clothes that came with Sheryl Nome, Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len. Generally I wouldn't be too afraid of staining. Usually keeping clothes on your doll for a couple of hours or even a couple of days isn't that risky... it'll often take a much longer period of time for them to do noticeable "damage".

With my Sheryl, I noticed her outfit staining her body after I'd kept it on her for about a week and a half. And the parts of her that got stained were the lower half of her left upper arm (due to the red jacket, lined with white fabric) close to her elbow joint and her left thigh (due to the dark blue garter belt, which is also lined with white). What I'd like to point out is that her jacket didn't stain any other part of her body, and her skirt is also made out of a dark blue fabric (and its waistband is lined with white fabric) but it didn't stain her hips the same way that the dark blue garter belt did. These two spots that did get stained were under pressure - the garter belt puts pressure on her thigh because I switched my Sheryl on a Dynamite body, so her thighs are much thicker than those on the original DDIII body, which meant that the garter belt was naturally much tighter on her. In her left hand I keep her microphone, and her arm was in a bent pose during that week and a half to bring the hand holding the microphone close to her face, so that naturally put pressure on the spot near the elbow, which eventually got stained.

It necessarily won't mean that leaving a dark coloured clothing item with white lining will immediately stain your doll, it might take a long period of time before that happens, and it's more likely that if you leave your doll in a certain pose that will put pressure on its body part, that spot is more likely to stain than those body parts that aren't under pressure.

And about my Kagamine twins' outfits... those I've kept on the dolls for well over a month without taking them off even once. What's interesting is I found that Len's black shorts (lined with white fabric) did not stain his thighs at all, but Rin's gray shorts (not lined with anything) left red marks on her upper thighs after about three weeks. Again, when I thought about it, Len's black shorts are more loose so they don't really put pressure on his legs - unless he sits - and they are lined with white so they are better protected. He also came with these white boxer shorts that I always keep under the black shorts, so yeah - he's still very much stain free. But then Rin's shorts... even though they're gray and one might not expect them to stain (which is probably also why Volks didn't bother to line them at all - a mistake), stained her thighs quite quickly. Her shorts are much more form-fitting compared to Len's and especially when she sits, they put pressure on her upper thighs and those spots are what exactly got stained.

So... as a summary, the staining process isn't as straightforward as one might think. There are a lot of variables that can affect it. Personally I don't worry about staining too much, as long as it's on body parts that are covered by clothes most of the time or on parts of the head that are covered by a wig. Most of the stains on my dolls have disappeared on their own in a couple of months time anyway. The most persistent ones are the stains on my Sheryl that I talked about, so I'll probably try some Dream Rescue on them at some point. They did fade about 60% from how they originally were in the span of two years. But I don't really care too much about stains on my dolls' bodies so I haven't been in a hurry to do much about them, ahah... You can't even see them in photos anyway.

However, staining on a doll's face would bother me, so with 2B and 9S I probably wouldn't leave the blindfolds on for a few weeks or a longer time. But I doubt they'd stain in a matter of hours or a couple of days.

    40. With this release, I really think that Volks hit it out of the park in terms of design. Nier has been on my 'to play' list, but I'll be for sure getting 2B. Maybe in the next couple weeks we can get more no mask photos. I love the semi-realistic DD sculpts like KosMos and these guys.

    41. A new discussion thread - Part XV !

      :)
