My Mariko (DDH-05, not the new one everyone has) showing off her new Volks "Afterschool Akihabara Girls Natsuki's Punk Dress Set."



I had to modify the top a bit to fit her better (she's a M bust while the outfits is made for L). While it looks great, the bottom layer of the skirt and the necklace BLED SO BADLY, I'm probably going to have to change the lining. Not too pleased about that, considering what I paid.

On a different topic, I want to give my two big girls painted nails. Are there any tips or tricks I should watch out for, mainly as to the differences between doing it on a resin vs. vinyl doll?

Hi all! I'm just getting back into the DD scene-- I had an MDD years ago & I'm falling in love with them all over again. I was wondering if there was a preference of eye size in DD-- I notice a lot of 22. Is that what most of you tend to go for?

Hi, I have two questions:
Is something up with the volks USA website? Cause, when I go there I and click any link to a certain part of the site I get redirected back to the same page. It's this page http://www.volksusa.com/
Also, on the japanese volks site some DD parts are listed as just sold out, but waiting for restocking while other parts are listed as sold out quantity limit. Does this mean that the latter won't be restocked at all? I hope someone can help me ^^

 

Azra-Elle if you are located outside of North America, you will not be able to access the Volks USA store - it will just redirect you to the front page if you try to enter the web store. Items listed as "Sold Out - Quantity Limit" were likely lottery items or Dollpa after-market items, so they probably won't be restocked unless they find some extra inventory.

Azra-Elle I normally see that status with the limited outfits, but rest assured, the DDH06 heads will be restocked! They may just have a limit of 1-per-order due to how quickly they sell out.

Hello! I have my first two dollfie dreams coming in soon (Ranka and Sheryl), with Ranka coming in the second batch and Sheryl in the third batch. I was wondering if anyone here knows from past pre-orders whether the payment for both will be collected before the first batch, or if the payment will be before each of their individual batches (since it's in two orders). Hoping to see other Rankas and Sheryls in this thread soon!

 

I love that curly wig! It kind of reminds me of my hair.

 

Not sure I am in the Third group so I have no idea when I have to pay for Sheryl, it maybe later since I placed my order 12/20/2014 of last year while I was home from work from having back surgery. I guess they are going by the date you placed the ordered.

 

I was looking at that too, Azra-Elle, and I was surprised to see it. At first I thought it was just the old version 06 heads with the harder headcaps that had the quantity limit. I believe the 06 heads are popular, though, so I think they will be restocked. I would be really surprised if they weren't!!

Hello, I have a question about Hybriding a DD head with a resin body:

The body is a Volks pureskin NS/UV resin.
Even after a few years, it has still retained it's "like new" resin color.

To get the best match to new volks Resin, Which Skin Color for DD must I order?

 

Kos got a body finally! I love this doll even more now that she's no longer just a head :3 I will have to take some photos of her tomorrow.

 

I own Volks resin BJDs and DDs, and I have to say I don't think any of the DD colors match normal very well. DD normal and semi-white are both kind of pinkish and don't have yellow undertones.

Does anyone know if DD white skin bodies are going to be restocked? Or are they replacing the old WS with semi white skin? I'm looking into getting a head that's WS- but I'm having a hard time running down a body for her. I do have a WS girl so they could share but I'd love to have a body for everyone. Of course, I don't even have the white head yet so this may all be moot anyway!

 

@renee_chan since you are in the US, try shooting VolksUSA an email and asking when they think the WS bodies will be restocked. As far as I know, there are no plans to cancel production of WS, and VolksUSA usually has an idea of when the next shipment is coming. Good luck

Somehow I don't think they're planning on re-stocking the white bodies because those are DDII (though I don't know if the US site has a different selection). And they've never sold full DDIII bodies in white. In my knowledge the only way to get one straight from Volks is to order all the parts and assemble it yourself.

I did some touch-ups to two of my girl's face-ups and Saya changed most (more lashes!). I even gave her glued upper lashes:

(Still need to do some more fixes)

 

Volks int. Has parts for white skin dds and dd but they're not restocked often. There's a chance if you try to buy individual parts you may be left up the creek on completing your girl in the short term.


I went to an antique market/warehouse yesterday and stuck gold. I found lots of doll chairs, which I bought most of them, heaps of vases (but i only bought 1 ) and I also found some dd sizes paintings!

Mariko would like some help identifying this painting if anyone is more clever in that area

Thank you very much! my main concern was not the colors being an exact match. Since I can always airbrush the colors to match, but rather get an idea of how much of a color-difference there is.

I have recently seen an SD-head placed on a MSD sized body and I rather like the look of it. There is an appeal of an more "anime"-like head on a smaller body that has caught my interest.

 

Not in this case. I used very thin lashes with a thin base and glued them so that the eyes will barely touch them. I also put in a lot of glue and let it dry before I put in the eyes, so that even if I push the eyes against the base of the lashes later, the glue won't give in and the lashes won't be pushed out. There can be some problems if the lashes aren't positioned well and the glue is weak or sticky (eyes can push them out or they can get stuck on the eyes), it happens with BJDs sometimes.
