I love those outfits. They suit your girls very well, especially Miku is cute, but she's always One of my favorites

 

I got a new outfit for my girl as well as soon as I take it out the box I hope to show here as well. I just need to get my DD girl some shoes and a different wig as well.

 

I have a question for those who have preordered in the past since this is my first (I've won lotteries before but never done a preorder). Is Volks' timeline generally pretty accurate for these girls?

Not always, there have been some really long delays recently such as for Miku and the Saber Extra/Alter pre-orders. I guess it depends on if Volks gets a bit overwhelmed with the amount of orders, which depends on the popularity of the characters involved.

I only just realized today that Volks is released Dollfie Dream versions of Macross Frontier Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee. O_O I don't usually pay attention to DDs to be honest, but I like these a lot. The Ranka looks really close to the anime Ranka. Love Sheryl too, especially with her date outfit. Too bad Volks doesn't make boy DD, then they could make Alto too. Or do they nowadays? Like I said, I don't keep up with DD. I hope someone here on DoA is getting these girls because I would love to see pics of them.

Volks still doesn't do male Dollfie Dreams. They know there are folks who are interested in owning one, I believe. However, I think the numbers are so small that it's not worth it for them.

 

I also know people have made custom males using Obitsu parts or modded small busts.

Pichu: Speaking of modding, I'm working on her mechanical limbs. I bought an extra skeleton to attach the parts to. I just need to have time to do it.

Hey all! I have kind of a noobish question, but Dollfie Dreams are such a foreign concept to me... I've still never seen one in real life! n__n;; But I really would like to own one (or more!) someday.

But here's my question: I know that it's pretty common for DDs to stain, and that it's usually not a big deal... but what if they have a stain spot on their face? Is it possible to remove it without taking off the faceup? If it's on a cheek or something like that, where there's no paint or pastel, could it be taken out and then the area resealed? (and with MSC/whatever Volks stocks now?) Thanks for any help or advice, and sorry if I'm being a nuisance! I thought I'd come and ask the experts instead of using Google to find out things that aren't necessarily true. n__n;

Vinyl staining primarily comes from prolonged contact with a dye saturated fabric or material, so facial stains are fairly rare. It is common for wig caps, particularly darker shades to leave stains on the scalp, especially around the edge of the wig where the elastic is tight against the vinyl. Yes, it is possible to do pin point stain removal with products such as Remove-Zits (http://www.twinpines.com/remove-zit). It would all depend upon the proximity to any actual face painting and the care of the application.

 

Ohh, speaking of male Dollfie Dreams I have two now, my Mari and DDH-07, Lance and Gil. ^^ (Finally Gil got Miku's SS-bust body so he doesn't have to share.)

 

When I get my DDs in, I tend to give them an extra all-over spray of MSC a few times. (Requires moving or protecting the eyes, obviously). That's made removing wig cap stains far less worrisome. I know some people don't recommend spraying over DD face-ups. I've not had a problem with it, but your mileage may vary.

I agree with the other person that your biggest risk to the face is from wigs, or I suppose if you keep them in a storage situation against a colored fabric for too long. The other risk is sharpie wigs- I had a vinyl doll travel in a sharpie colored wig, and that doll ended up with rub off all over his face from the wig, and it never came out. So don't let dolls travel with anything with sharpie on it to be safe!

Nice boys up there. I have an 07 boy myself and I know of other 07 boys. It'd be a great scupt for a basic boy body if they ever give us one. Until then, waiting to see what the smart doll boy turns out like IRL.

Maaan, I keep checking my email obsessively hoping the Holiday Greeting Lottery dolls will ship. How did the people who wait a year for their dolls do it?! (I'm hoping the lottery shipping won't take as long as the pre-order shipping for Miku did.)

I have a question regarding Volks wigs: is the quality good for the high cost? I've been trying to find a 8-9 wig for my Kana, but it's been one issue after another. I'll be placing an order at Volks when they get some hands back in stock so I'm really thinking about just buying the W-143D-CMGD wig and be done with it. So yeah, is that recommended or should I just keep trying elsewhere?

 

Leekeworld probably has the better selection of doll wigs out there. The cost is the same for the most part, even if you look elsewhere... A bit of a standard of costs.

 

If you're ordering hands, you may as well get one wig and see how you like it! I have some beautiful Volks wigs, and I have a few that are a bit thinner in places than I'd like. I think there are hits and misses with just about every wig brand, plus individual stitching, cutting and styling makes them not quite identical and consistent.

I'm not a fan of Volks wigs myself... they are very expensive, but the feel and styling of many of them leaves much to be desired. Some of them look very nice in pictures, though, I like the D'coord wigs. My favorite companies to buy wigs from are For My Doll, Leekeworld, Crobidoll, and Luts.

I was looking at a DD that had a stain on her cheek (I don't know what from) and even though it's tiny enough to pass as a mole or something, maybe it's better to leave that kind of thing to someone who's not going to be a first-time DD owner. n__n;; But I would probably try to get it out if I did buy her, so the Remove-Zits technique is good to know!

But I've already paid for my Saber Extra- the charge is on my bank statement. I'm a little freaked out right now, but maybe I got the email because I entered for both Sabers so this email refers to Alter that I didn't win? I checked my orders on the Volks USA website and Saber Extra's order isn't on my account, and when I searched for my order number it says I can not view the order details. What's going on?? I'm emailing Volks; hopefully I'm still getting my Extra

 

I'm wondering the exact same thing so let me know. I ALSO "won" and paid for Saber Extra already and I got the same email. I'm guessing since I also entered for both that was the problem?

I forgot to post this here but I did post it on the dollfie dreams forum- you can't see the Saber orders because Volks "shut down the server" after the lottery was over. I emailed them before this latest snafu asking why I couldn't see my order in my history and that is what they said.

But now I'm all nervous again. Are they going to be sending a refund and no doll? Was it an accidental email because I tried for both? IDK!

Oh, Volks, get your stuff together.

 

Got a reply from Volks. Basically the email was referring to the Alter that I entered for but didn't win. Volks said:
Your Dollfie Dream® Saber (Fate/EXTRA Ver.) has arrived from Japan and we are checking
your doll for any imperfection right now. After the inspection is done, we will ship your doll
out to you. We will let you know of a tracking number then.


So hooray! My Saber should be home soon

 

Are these DD3 bodies and if so will they crack in the shoulder and hip?

Volks wrote me back and was like "Oh lol you paid for an extra but you actual won an alter here's a refund for the extra you paid" which left me extremely confused.

So I guess I'm getting a Saber alter? I like Alter's outfit better and she's cheaper so it all works out in the end. It's all just quite mystifying. Anyone else in my boat?

Congratulations, Aoibhe! I don't have much advice for you, just be careful with dark clothing. Check your girl often for staining when she is dressed, just in case. Sometimes even dark thread used to sew the outfit can stain the vinyl.

Aoibhe, one trick to keep your DD from staining is to wrap her bits coming into contact with dark clothing with plastic cling wrap (like Saran wrap or similar). I have also used masking tape to line outfit parts like cuffs and trim that I was afraid would stain. Of course, you can always use a specially made body stocking to help prevent stains, too, but it doesn't always look good under skimpy outfits .

I got my shipping notice from Volks; Saber should arrive on Monday. I'll have to watch for her because the UPS driver will literally toss packages into the yard. It's a long driveway to my house so I guess it's too much trouble to drive all the way. Ugh!

Thank you! She is a standard model. Her head sculpt is a dollfie dream 03 head or ddh-03 for short.

 

Has anyone used the Volks bodysuits?
Are tehy worth the purchase price for avoiding stains?

 

I have used Volks bodysuits. However, they give a weird, bulky look to my girls so I opt out from using them. Stains are prevented, yes... But then again, if you keep your girls in light color clothing and wigs, it's a whole lot easier. And even if they do get stained, you can just use acne cream to remove it. I also found that handwashing dark items and keeping the dolls out of direct light helps too.
