I’m thinking about ordering from Dollyteria, but wanted some opinions first. Do the dolls arrive in good condition? Are they packaged well to avoid damage in transit? Any particularly strong likes or dislikes about buying from here? Thanks in advance for sharing!
It's important to keep in mind that it's a second hand store so what you see is what you get, there may be a smell, etc. I have ordered from them before and founds things to be well packed.
A couple of my crew were purchased from Dollyteria. and they both arrived in good shape... No undisclosed damage, missing bits or other weirdness, and their packing was honestly better than what some of the doll companies themselves have sent me.
Thank you both for replying. I know there’s always a risk with secondhand dolls, but they seem to be disclosing issues in their listings and your thoughts make them sound honest. I’m mostly worried about poor packaging and damage in transit, but you’ve both been very reassuring on that note.
I've never gotten anything shipped from them, but I've bought from their store and I've never been disappointed!
Has anyone ordered from Dollyteria recently? I received confirmation that my item is in stock and confirmed four days ago, but they haven't sent me an invoice with the shipping cost yet. I'm getting worried/antsy XD
It took quite a while for the invoice to arrive when I last ordered, two or three months ago, and I don't think I ever received a shipping notice -- but shipping was really fast, as always. Honestly, I wouldn't worry if I were you!
Please excuse me for reactivating this old thread, but I have so many questions about this shop. Are there any recent shopping experiences with Dollyteria? Are all the second hand BJD's really legit? Are the full sets and their condition as stated on the website? Are the offered dolls from a smoke-free household? Does Dollyteria also offer Layaway? How is the customer service now? Can you ask them anything? Because their offers are unfortunately not exactly described in detail. I would be very happy if you share your latest experiences with me, please.
So far all the dolls, doll parts, clothes and accessories I've bought from them have been legit and as described and look the same as in the photos. The things they sale aren't all from smoke-free households, but they do say so in the listing if the item has a tobacco smell or any other weird smell. As far as I know, they do not offer layaway (same as Mandarake which is another second-hand shop). I've never had to contact their customer service as I've never had any problems with my orders, so don't know how responsive they are.
I just got a Volks SDC May from Dollyteria. I was a little apprehensive because she looked very dirty in their photos. But once I got her home she looked much better! They did a good job pointing out her flaws and they really weren’t as bad as the listing made them out to be. This was my second purchase from Dollyteria and I would absolutely buy from them again.
I’m sure they dolls are all legit it they aren’t there forever. From a couple years ago they require the coa when you sell a doll. If you don’t have it you can’t sell them there. (Volks has to have the plate) They don’t specify smoke free, but it will be listed on the details if the dolls has a weird smell or something wrong.
Thank you so much for your fast answers! This informations helps me a lot. That's why I just asked Dollyteria directly for a few things about a certain doll. I'm curious if I'll get an answer. And I'll be happy to give you feedback later on what has become of it.
Here is my little experience: Unfortunately, Dollyteria did not respond to my request. The item has not been listed in their webshop for a few days. Although I'm not sure if the doll I wanted was already sold to someone else. Because who knows how often they update their website?!? At the same time they also sell in their normal shop. Well, I tried and it didn't work. But it's not so tragic. Maybe next time I'll be braver to order there without asking anything beforehand.
Aww.... that is disappointing... They do sometimes remove listings from their website even though it doesn't appear to have been sold. (Their sold items usually have a big 'sold out' on the pictures that they keep up for a while. And I've had items disappear from my wishlist on their site...) Maybe someone has bought it from their physical shop? They do update their website regularly twice a week on Weds and Sun at 9pm Japan time. (I know as I stalk their site all the time! And there is a banner on their site that says so, but it's in Japanese only.)
I just ordered from Dollyteria for the first time and found it pretty easy to do! I'll have to see if that holds up when it comes to shipping but I'm excited for my new doll. She was a great price for a project doll.
My Dollyteria purchase came in last night and she's in great shape! Exactly as pictured and even a little better off than what was described. The shipping was a little high (about $40 USD) but I chose DHL for their quick ship times and was not disappointed.
I’m wanting to buy an sd body on their site but I’m not sure about shipping price. Has anyone recently ordered an sd body how much was ems? I want to make sure I have enough saved up before doing all this
I just happened to discover this eBay store called sakurajapanshop2020. Could that be Dollyteria? Because it seems that these are exactly the second hand dolls that they sell on their website. Perhaps this will improve the contact in English?!? At least for the people who can't speak Japanese.
Hmm... those do look like the images from Dollyteria. I haven't been able to find anything about Dollyteria having an Ebay store on their site. But there is this notice that seems to indicate that they only have a Yahoo Japan Auctions account. They also mention having problems with at least one fake Yahoo Japan Auctions account stealing their images and pretending to be them, so I'd be wary of this Ebay store. Here's a machine translation of the notice. There was a report of a seller who may be fraudulently selling Yahoo Auctions at a low price using our products. Yahoo auction! Has already been notified and is in the process of being dealt with, but it has not been canceled yet. The seller uses our product images without permission and is guided as if it was an exhibition by us, but it has nothing to do with us. There is a possibility that the customer's personal information etc. may be illegally acquired, the product may not arrive even after the product price is transferred, or a fake product may be sent. Please be careful when making a successful bid. The accounts operated by Dolly Terrier are as follows. Our company Yahoo! Auctions! account: ヤフオク! - discwave_mountpositionさんの出品リスト Edit: Also it's interesting that the listings on that Ebay store appear to be blocked for those in Asia. I wasn't able to see the listings at first and it said 'This store has no inventory available in your location.' The listings only appeared when I used a VPN to access the store from a location outside Asia. I've checked to see if the listings are blocked in Japan and they are... This just makes this Ebay store even more suspicious in my opinion. Are they trying to hide from Japanese users so that no one will report them to Dollyteria?
@namika Thank you very much for the information! So as long as Dollyteria doesn't post anything on their website from an official eBay store, we'd better remain cautious. Maybe we should tell Dollyteria about this suspicious store?!? (I have just removed the direct link to the eBay store mentioned in my post above.)
It might be one of those drop shipper stores. There's a ton of them on eBay. Usually, they steal other store's images and list items that they don't actually have in stock with a massive markup. When a customer buys the item from the eBay listing, the drop shipper will purchase the item from the store that actually has it in stock (eg. Dollyteria, Mandarake, etc.) and have it sent to the customer. I'm always wondering what's going to happen, if an item gets damaged in transit or something and how a drop shipper would deal with that kind of situation.
I just messaged Dollyteria about the suspicious eBay store. Because I think they should know about it. Especially if they cannot see the offered items on offer in their country. I'm curious what they will answer me and will give you feedback as soon as I have it.
You can order straight from the site as they ship internationally. But you should also check beforehand if EMS from Japan is available for your location. When you order, you pay for your order plus 8 yen shipping. This 8 yen is just a sort of placeholder. They will invoice you later for the real shipping fee once they get your order together and have calculated shipping. They will also deduct that 8 yen you've already paid from the real shipping fee. Also, they sell most of the items on their site at their physical stores as well (there are some items that are only sold on their online store and are usually marked 'mail-order items' at the bottom of the product page), so there might be a chance an item you want may already be sold out when they put your order together. In that case, they will refund you. If you have other items in your order, they will deduct shipping from the sold-out item you've already paid for and refund you any amount that is left over. It usually takes them a few days to check stock, calculate shipping and send you the shipping invoice. They usually ship as soon as you pay shipping.
just wanted to chip in with a recommendation for dollyteria! I've only made two purchases there so far but they seem to be run by the same folks as closet child (they sell secondhand egl/alt fashion), I've made several orders through them in the past) and have a similar ordering interface. being a secondhand shop, what they offer can vary wildly - I think the main "inventory drops) are wednesdays and sundays. both my orders were packed securely and shipped quickly, and the product photos were pretty accurate too!
For those wondering about shipping costs, a SD13 doll shipped with DHL to the USA is about 8060jpy right now. That includes 2500jpy insurance. At least that’s what my order came to.
Has anyone ordered from them recently for delivery to the Uk? Just wondering about possible shipping cost.
That is really good to know, thank you! I'm sure it'll be at bit more or less to Europe, but that gives me a general idea now! I found dollyteria's Yahoo Japan account before finding this thread and what I noticed is that what they offer on their website and on Yahoo Japan differs slightly. Some items are only on their website, some are only on Yahoo Japan. Does anyone know why this is the case?
