v What is one doll item you can't help but splurge on?

 

^ Clothes, especially dresses. My Fer is one of my favorite things and I'd love more dollheart dresses. I have a huge weakness to pretty colorful clothes.

V What is one doll item that you HATE to spend money on?

 

^ Shipping? Okay, eyes. I always cheap out. But shoes are the most annoying due to sizing, so maybe them?

v Have any doll food or drinks?

 

^ Mine mostly have desserts. I've made them a cake and candy from polymer clay. There's a mini Starbucks cup I bought online that's really cute. I should make them more food, to go with the large number of dishes I have for them.

< I ordered a body from Luts, and $5 eyes would have added $7 in shipping. What the heck?

V Is there any type of prop you seem to accumulate a lot of? Or accessory?

 

^ Food! I have so much doll food. I have bags of doll food props. I really need to stop buying these cute food props.
< I really hope my Little Monica Iren gets here early tomorrow, I hate tying up my whole day waiting for a package.
v Where do you take most of your doll pictures? Indoors? Outdoors? At a park, maybe?

 

^ indoors. I am way too shy to bring my dolls out. (Sadly I now live in basement so all my pictures are grainy :P )

< Doll makers posting progress or teasers of stuff on instagram is torture. I need full pictures, the price, the measurements NOW or I will DIE.

V is there an aspect of BJD collecting that strongly weirded you out at first (Ex: seeing your dolls without eyes) or was everything always normal?

 

^ is it weird if I say tictac doll peen? because tictac doll peen was a little unsettling when I saw it the first time lol.

v are you an impulse dolly buyer or a strategical dolly buyer? Or a mix?

 

^ I'm definitely a planner. Its too much money for me to just throw it around. So it's all planned.

v do you prefer a certain season for taking doll pictures? Or does it not matter?

 

^ Summer, that's just more comfortable outside and available light inside shows longer

v What light sources do you use for doll pictures?

 

^ I prefer indirect daylight. I get more natural looking pictures that way.

< I got my light blue Soom Faery Legend Juchy out yesterday. I'd forgotten just how much I lover her.

V Do you have any fantasy colored dolls?

 

^ I have a tiny purple dragon who's technically off topic on DoA (no leg joints), a pink anthro bunny, and a mermaid-thing with a sea green tail (until I go tinting it with blush or dye). I also have a tiny anthro kitty who's blushed to be a ginger cat, and a Yo-sized anthro kitty who's blushed in shades of red as a fire fairy. Oh, and the pumpkin head who's awaiting a (pumpkin stem brown) body.

< Augh I'm running out of time on this presentation! Someone help me! (No, really, if you feel up to it, come throw some input at my PMs.)

v Are your dolls good at throwing themselves out in front of a crowd, or do they prefer the wallflower life?

 

^ Mostly wall-flowers these days, since I don't go to meets anymore or take all that many pictures. Issun's the exception. He travels with me and he gets to go to PAX every year.

< Lady Oscar is ON THE MOVE! *squee* I still can't believe I was lucky enough to get a lottery win for her. My luck with Volks lotteries is just terrible...

V What's the luckiest break you've ever gotten doll-wise?

 

^ Probably Finn (my ResinSoul Gang). He was in stock and I bought him without anywhere close to the amount of research I do now (he was my first BJD). But he turned out perfect for his character. And he's actually the only doll that has stayed the character he was bought for.
< I need to find all my paperwork so I can do my taxes and get that sweet refund so I can order that Zaoll! Moving sucks.
V What skill do you have now that you never would have developed if not for BJDs?

 

^ If I didn't get into this hobby, I wouldn't have learned how to do 2 dimensional photography. It takes your creative imagination to a whole new level.

v Other than Asian style clothing, is there another ethnic style of clothes you would like to obtain for your BJDs?

 

^ Currently, I don't think so! Maybe in the future I'll find inspiration to think about it!

v Is there any doll oportunity you regret not taking?

 

^ Buying LLT Lazuli during the final sale. Would have saved me a markup. But thankfully that's pretty minor.

v What is your favorite doll body?

 

^ My favorite is the Ringdoll RGMbody-1 it poses like a dream, even yoga poses, it needs minimal sueding. I have the new 3 bigger body and it's great looking and poses well enough but they changed the elbows and the 'lifelike' swivel in the arm is gone.

< Another cold almost frosty day. This is south Texas and it's March

v Do you have a favorite doll ball joint that does what it's supposed to do? What doll?

 

^ My tiny Granado Lucifer, hands down. He can hold poses better than any of my other dolls.

< I need to make him and the others more clothes...

V Do you have backstories for your dolls' characters?

 

^ For most of them! There's a few that are just kind of a thin "you're cool, you be this," but the rest are based on long-standing personal stories or fandom RPs, so they come with a nice generous helping of backstory.

< Weather, please try to stop sucking on the weekends. I have two con meetings and I want to go see Captain Marvel again.

v If your doll could have any super power, what would it be? (If they already have one, would they change it?)

 

^ I think Feather would want to be able to talk to animals. She loves animals, especially rabbits. And Fluke would probably want to heal people, he's got a really kind heart.

< I burnt my lip today, ouch

v what happens when your doll characters get hurt?

 

^ One of my doll's characters is an elf healer and a trauma surgeon. So he's the one taking care of the others if they get hurt.

< I need to work on backstories for my ladies, since all the men already have them.

V What do your doll characters like to do in their spare time?

 

^ A gym in the corner for Ingrid, a little nest for Gobbie, a cozy nook, a kitchen, and a bedroom. Mostly at SD scale!

v What's one prop you wish you had?

 

^ A claw-foot bathtub for 70cm dolls

V Do your doll's characters have jobs?

 

^ technically, most of the reapers are in theological community service, but I’m hardcore overhauling that verse... in my four worlds series though, Rina works as an assassin for a while, Balik works in the equivalent to I guess magical psych? It’s a type of emotional healing.

<I haven’t been single since I was fifteen, and here I am. So what am I doing? Buying a doll as a project.

V what’s your current doll project?

 

^ Fluke has been a project for years. He needs everything but eyes! I'm hoping to do his faceup this year! And maybe get his body!

< Feeling so sick and upset today. I made stupid decisions.

v do your dolls have any bad habits?

 

^ Oh yes... Aoi has the habit to fall on his back over and over again (maybe I should just re-string him, but I am too lazy) and Saki seems to dislike her eye putty >.> Her eyes NEVER stay in place... I'll replace the putty soon to see if that helps...
And character-wise Reito is the one with the worst habit, destroying his beautiful hair by bleaching and dyeing it more often than changing clothes... (Oh how lucky I am that he just needs a ton of wigs... X.X)

v What are your dolls/characters doing when they're sick?

 

^Depends on how sick they are, a cold or something like that Ash powers through, but Evz is a man cold type guy and is pitifully needy. If they are really sick they tend to go to Marcus for his magical herbal cures.

< I wanted to see a movie today but it's spring break. Children are everywhere. Says the old grumpy lady...

v Do your dolls/characters have children?

 

^ currently waiting on my first doll, so I'm guessing hellh hatch a plan on his way here to spite me because his and to be in a box for a while

^ Right now it's Bimong's 68cm boy with the new head. WANT
but I will sand off the elf ears. No elves.

V Do you have a grail doll? Do you own the grail or is it truly unattainable?

 

^ At the moment my grail doll is a double jointed mature tiny woman with elf ears, who isn't just pretty and sweet. Haven't seen any yet.

< Though Dollshe Ausley Love and Miracle Doll's new elf man are currently tied for top spot on my wish list...

V Do you prefer fantasy dolls or humans?

 

^ My current proportion of humans to fantasy dolls is about three to one, so I guess that answers that.

v What doll/sculpt do you love seeing pictures of?

 

^ I really love seeing Delfs and Fairyland dolls. Especially El's, Lu-wens, lishes, shushus and miyus. I just love the sculpts so much!

< Its thunderstorming and cold, I don't like it one bit.

v are your dolls scared of anything?

 

^ Oh lots of things.
Ilari: enclosed spaces, especially basements / sleeping in the dark / people who remind him of his father or brother-in-law
Emie: starving / being burned / accidently hurting someone she cares about
Lorina: ghosts / the dark / being alone
Rose: her 'caretaker' RanShao

v Good question! What are your dolls/characters afraid of?

 

^ To mention a few-
Eilis: normalcy/a grey life, cross-contamination of her watercolors
Mahalo: being the cause of those she loves being hurt, losing her humanity, being spied upon
Leon: he worries that he is doing something wrong while raising his sisters as he has no previous experience with kids
Lark: being left out, bullies, the dark
Rhiannon: spiders, snakes, rats, anything small and creepy-crawly

< I'm really ready to not be sick.

v What are some things that make your doll/character happy? What do they enjoy?

 

^ feather greatly enjoys hats, and cute things. She loves collecting dolls and toys and she loves fancy clothes. Fluke loves cozy sweaters and his plush rabbit. They both seem to like cozy and cute things!

< Its so nice to watch a movie and write again.

v what's your dolls favorite thing? A toy, clothing piece, anything! What's their fave?

 

^ Well John's doll has no self-awareness being he's a doll, but I would like to change his knees because I hate them. They have no in-between posing ability and I have actually thought of getting another Dollshe Pure body and forcing those legs to work on him because I love those knees. The only thing keeping me from doing that is I think he'd lose some height, and I need him to be a couple cm taller, not shorter. Preferably in the waist. I'm just never happy lol

> Third attempt at Poison Ivy might finally be the winner. How of all the DC characters is she the hardest?? Now to try and finish her and Batman before the St Louis BJD convention. Sigh.

V Do you have (or have you had) any on-going BJD projects that have lasted forever? Are you getting close to seeing the light of finishing them, or still fumbling around in the darkness of doll project doom?

 

^ Well, Fluke has been a project for eight years. I don't know when he'll ever be finished, but I'm always hoping I'll get the funds and resources to finish him. Its very frustrating to have just a blank head after so long.

< Stressed stressed stressed. I just want to be calm but there's so many anxious thoughts. Grrr

v Your doll character has an emergency, who do they call first?

 

^Hmm... Ash would call Evz & Evz would call Ash. Everyone else would call Nox. Nox doesn't have emergencies, though he knows who to call for everyone else when they call him for an emergency.

< Head swap day and dressing for Spring festival should be fun.

v Who or where does your doll character go to for a good time?

 

^ Kind of an obvious answer but Elise would definitely say the nearest warm body. For multiple reasons

< Buying lots of dolls blank to save money also means having a lot of faceups to do!

v What animal/species/type of fantasy doll is your favorite or the one you find the most interesting?

 

^ It was instant infatuation when I first saw the little Luts Zebrataurs, and I just had to track one down and bring her home. I still love her to pieces!

< Waiting impatiently for spring to get here. Enough with the cold weather, already!

v If you had to choose right now between a great expensive vacation and a great expensive new doll, which would it be?
