^ On hold as in 'on layaway' or on hold as in 'not doing it right now for whatever reason'? I have my two Dollmore Kids on layaway (at last!) right now. I've basically put off EVERYTHING else doll-related because I have zero extra money due to this layaway.

V What are your 2018 doll-related plans?

 

^ They're long. I'll see if I can consolidate. A few bodies for the last of my heads who actually are going to get them. Like, two extra dolls. That should be it for the buying. Then finishing all the dolls that need it (ha ha right) and selling stuff. Then the usual, more clothes and taking pictures and doing constructive stuff like all the projects I have either to do or to finish.
Literally if any of it happens I'll be amazed.

V I got nuthin. So - What are your 2018 doll-related plans?

 

^ Tyler and Michael love winter because they’re into a lot of outdoor activities and some of the things they like can only be done when there’s snow. Also, snow makes certain outdoor activities more challenging, and these boys really enjoy a challenge

< @Jany it’s been unseasonably warm here lately, like typical late-October weather. It’s bately been below freezing yet.

V What is your doll/character’s favourite season, and why?

 

^Clover and shaylee are both spring girls for different reasons. Shay, cuz of the blooming flowers and just the earth waking up, plus it's when she was born. Clover cuz it brings back fond memories with her late father.

v if you have a doll character that has never experienced snow , what do you think there eeaction would be to it?

 

^ Elliot would want to stay inside, but would be cajoled outside by Ollie, who would be super excited and trying out different winter activities. And Ji-han would be pretty excited and having fun with Ollie, though he wouldn't show it as much. Gobbie is pretty small and old, and if she did go out, it would not be for long. Why leave the warmth when you don't have to?

> Man, I wish I had been able to take Elliot into the snow. What are the chances that happens again?

v What kind of drunk is your doll? If they don't drink, why?

 

^ Adhara would probably be a "happy" drunk, that is, if you get her drunk at all. For some reason, she's resistant to all the sake or whatever bootleg foreign alcoholic drinks you aim at her (maybe because she ain't human?). Guórén is most likely a "broken" or a "violent" drunk depending on what caused him to get drunk -- and for that reason, he tries his best not to get too far in his cups.

< Speaking of drinks, I haven't actually tasted sake -- maybe I could remedy that soon.

v It's Christmas season! Would your doll's character be a grinch or a happy camper?

 

^ Kyle's a total happy camper, both giving and receiving (receiving a little more so ). He likes that the season brings--for the most part--happiness, and encourages others not to feel so down.

< I'm about to fall asleep at my desk. Again. Is it the weekend, yet?? I'm so ready!

v I'm also going to ask: What kind of drunk is your doll? If they don't drink, why?

 

^ Promith is a dramatic drunk - he tends to wax poetic on a regular basis, but drunk takes things to a whole new level (and he loses his ability to speak lyrically and everything turns into an actual rhyme except he's horrible at rhyming, so instead of simply speaking in couplets or the like, it's... it's a thing...). Kle doesn't drink, mainly because he doesn't like the aftertaste that alcohol tends to have but also because he has no idea how it would affect him and that scares him slightly. Abernathy is a social drunk (it's mostly pretend, or so the crew claims since he tends to be the only one without a hangover the next morning) and Bernard abstains from drinking because he thinks someone needs to be responsible and keep an eye on flying the ship. Giorges will drink but stops before he gets drunk(or tries) because as the captain he thinks he needs to be responsible (though that mostly falls on Bernard since Giorges gets sleepy when he drinks and inevitably passes out in the back of the galley). Leopold sees no scientific use in drinking but will sip at something simply so that he doesn't get ribbed at for not drinking.

< I should be sleeping, but I'd rather be writing, but in the end my brain is sludge either way.

v Is your doll a morning person or a night owl? Are they out like a log and up like a daisy, or does someone need to dowse them with the hose to drag them out of the nest they've made after staying up all night?

 

^ My boys are basically ALWAYS up during the nights! They rather sleep through the day. Sometimes they just can't because of jobs and stuff they need to do... Then they get grumpy! The only one who sleeps through the night is little Synti, she's almost always sleeping though... XD

< Officially got the permission to check DoA during work... XD Just because we've got nth to do...

v Christmas is approaching and you've to spread love... Is there a person your BJD character would like to give love to during christmas? Maybe someone they hadn't talked to in a long time for some reason? (living far away, they had an argument and haven't made up yet)

 

^ Lucien, who's... Sort of his ancestor, in a way? But since he's the Actual Jersey Devil his lifespan is a little bit funky. Usually he's intermittent in how he keeps in contact with Lucien, but he figures since it's Christmas his family ought to stick together.

< Too many people talking in my space. It's too early for this. Can people just stop?

v Is there anything your doll (or the doll's character) needs to get but has been putting off?

 

^lol a body, it's been years and seil still has no body. I'm on a subscription box binge at the moment plus christmas soooo yea still on hold.

<why you bleed me dry christmas?!?

Vdoes your doll have holiday appropriate clothing?

 

^ Nigel hates Christmas and all of the holidays based on religion. Is it related to God of some sort? Take it away from him.
For Nial it's snow. And lots of lights!
And... That is pretty much it? None of my characters are celebrating Christmas. Estaz as faun doesn't know about this, Jack thinks it's "only for humans"... And Lui is wolf from "another dimension" and he knows just war...
I'm pretty mean to my characters.

< Well, I'm real life grinch... I'm totally not christmas person. And today it's not helping, since I was supposed to meet my girlfriend... And she canceled it because of personl reasons... And I don't know when I can see her again.

v Your doll needs to buy last minute present! For who is this gift, they doesn't have yet? And what are they going to buy?

 

^ John is pretty much always in some kind of emotional turmoil as emotions are sort of new to him and he's not quite got the hang of them yet. Usually he calls Jack (who is his emotional support human and I finally have him as a doll sort of) or hides in the bathtub.

V Who is expecting Holiday dolls?? I didn't buy anything this year as is usual for me and holiday events, so I want to hear about your event purchases! And if you didn't make any, did you want to?

 

^ I really wanted to finally get my girl's body during the event to make it cheaper, but with no GO and no way to organize one myself, I couldn't make it. I did get a pair of shoes with free shipping, but they don't fit.

v What was your priciest doll-related purchase this year?

 

^ I started a layaway for two Dollmore dolls on 14 December, so that's my most pricey doll-related purchase this year.

< Ugghhhh.... I kinda wish Christmas would go away. I still want the vacation, though

V What would be your doll/character's ultimate holiday gift?

 

^ A unicorn ride, I guess? (Lila can dream)

< Vacation, at least! I'll be able to go and see the Last Jedis movie!

V Where would your doll like to travel for holidays?

 

^ My doll doesn't care where it travels for the holidays, pretty much because it's a doll and has no brain cells with which to process vacation plans...but...this also makes it incredibly amenable to everything I suggest, so when I tell it that we should definitely go to Hawaii or the Virgin Islands because it would look great in a bathing suit, it preens a bit and agrees completely!

< Daughter is having four impacted wisdom teeth extracted tomorrow, and I'm far more nervous than she is.

v Have you ever made an insanely expensive impulse dolly buy and not regretted it?

 

^ I actively try to avoid impulse buying anything insanely expensive on the basis that it is insanely expensive... That said, I missed out on buying Soom Shoshon the first time he was released and regretted it insanely, saved every penny I could until he started appearing on the second hand market, and obtained him in the original bronze resin as my very second doll ever - and was so insanely happy with him that when the Romantic Shoshon version was released I hit that purchase button so fast I wasn't even certain I had chosen the right options and had to double check to find I almost had him sent to my old address. He is now my Lavaiou, and I do not regret his purchase in the slightest.

< Once again, sleep eludes me. Why must this be so?

v Do you have any insanely expensive doll purchases that you backed out on thinking it was going to be an impulse buy you would later regret, and then ended up hunting it down later because you still really liked it?

 

^ My Raspberry. I have occasionally regretted buying her, especially when posing her. I bought the Snow version because she looked so beautiful in this slightly translucent version, and she could be shipped straight away. The white has now yellowed though it is difficult to say whether the MSC or the resin is to blame. I would have to wipe her face-up off to know for certain. I wish her knees were double jointed though she stands like a rock.

OOOOps too slow: There are several dolls I'd love to have several years ago. I am still very fond of them but new BJDs are taking their places on my list. Most of them weren't such good posers and even if I see them in the marketplace I postpone buying them because of this.

< This Grey weather is getting to me. It is mild though.

V If your doll could keep one flower blooming all winter, which one would he/she/it choose?

 

^ My doll would chose a sakura my goal is to one day take a photo of them being near a sakura tree.

< I started sewing one of my two outfits for my doll that were part of my years resolution.

V What determined who your favorite doll is?

 

^ My favorite dolls have kind of just become the ones that are made to shell my favorite characters. In that regard, my favorites are the twins, Karalyn and Jun. That said, I also really love Merriweather because she's easy to transport and allows me a lot of creative freedom since she's not a pre-established character.

v What is the price difference between your cheapest and most expensive dolls?

 

^ My cheapest doll is a tiny. My most expensive is an SD boy. But the tiny was limited and he was pieced together secondhand from companies with middle range prices. So about $100. It's probably part of the reason I have been hesitating to complete my girl. The body I have in mind is so expensive compared to them and the other doll I have planned, I'm starting to think I won't be able to pull the trigger even if I do save up enough. But I don't really have other options.

^ Rina was a free head and a resinsoul body, that I think was like a couple hundred. My red king fullset was... 850? Something like that? So there’s a huge disparity

<I don’t know how I feel about Christmas itself, but I don’t like how her parents use it as an excuse to keep her away from me. That’s the nice way of saying what I’m feeling.

V What is the difference between your cheapest and most expensive doll?

 

^ my cheapest is a Saintbloom and I have several SDs that are around the same price. So I'd say around $500 difference? Possibly? Not too sure really. I tend to forget the price as soon as I open the box. .

< I had a great time yesterday. . Now, let's prepare New Year!

V If they could choose their Xmas pullover, which design/colours your dolls would opt for?

 

^ Karalyn would pick something in yellow and pink, and Jun would go for silver and blue, something dragon themed for both of them. Nova is a black cat through and through, so there's that.

< Full disclosure, I don't quite know what an Xmas pullover is, but I'm guessing it's like one-piece pajamas? Sounds super cute.

v Which came first, your dolls or their characters?

 

^ Peel off his clothes and get in the shower.
Then bed. Though he has no bed, so chair.

V Have you ever reshelled one of your bjd's characters?

 

^ Oh yes once, though I am unsure what to reshell her as.

v Do you ever wonder what you'd spend your money on instead of dolls?

 

^ lol probably spend it on the other expensive hobbies i have. Anime,manga,cosplay...harry potter to name a few.

<don't get me wrong , i like days off, but a whole week off means there won't be a paycheck next week.

v what era or the equivalent, in case your doll character isn't from a similar world as us, is your doll from?

 

^Era, eh? I guess you could say their world is somewhere between steampunk and early 20th century in development. And that goes for both my OCs and the bjds based of existing characters (even if their worlds are completely different).

< Listening to some Tom Petty while I type. Running Down a Dream....I'm so sad still that we lost him this year, and we've come to the one year mark of losing both Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher. I hope the new year will see less downs and more ups...

V Speaking of our lost idols/celebrities, are there any that have passed on that a member of your bjd crew idolized and mourns the loss of? Who?

 

^ Promith is a huge Dean Martin fan and Leopold adores Christopher Lee.

< I get to go back to MN tonight! T-Minus 4 hours 28 minutes until my flight back to my beloved land of ice and snow! I'll be arriving at like, 4 O'clock in the morning so I wont be able to take a pic of me and Calvin making snow angels in our T-Shirts again, but I will be back home ;w;

v Where is the place that your doll/character feels most at home? How much do they miss it when they are forced to travel away from it/how long does it take until they start complaining they wish they were back home?

 

^ well, Dani doesn’t get homesick very easily. She loves to travel and sight see. It would probably take her a while to complain but it would be because she misses her twin brother. Speaking of him, Damien is very introverted and likes to be familiar with his surroundings. So being away from home would really stress him out. He probably wouldn’t complain about it out loud though because he’s very scared of being bothersome.

< the twins are so different lol Damien just wants to be in his room all day and Dani wants an adventure.

v did you get anything doll-related for Christmas? If not, what would you have liked to get?

 

^ Inadvertantly, yes. I've been saving up for an embroidery machine, so I asked for Amazon gift cards for Christmas; the one my sister gave me came in a miniature Amazon shipping box, that's a perfect doll-sized prop! (I'm sure she didn't realize it at the time, either, and just thought it was a neat box, since she doesn't really know much if anything about my dolls.)

< @Nightwitch_Neko it's so cold here right now, be ready for it! (I'll still take freezing temperatures over giant spiders though.)

v Did you score any awesome doll finds in all the holiday stuff this year?

 

^ Well I'm not sure this counts or not, but other than the little hats for my YO sized dolls at Bath and Body, I bought some holiday socks, and my best friend turned them into sweaters. Then I bought these holiday picks (I think that's what they're called) and I pulled them off the stick, pulled the stuffing out of them, added some glitter and attached them to the sweaters.

V Do you ever feel like your collection is complete, or close to being completed? Why or why not?

 

^ To be honest? There is always something missing... Only Natsume was "cool" just after adding a plush of Nyanko-sensei. But the rest? You know... no time, school, no money, missing bodies and... stuff. Yeah. That is pretty much it. And Nigel took me like... eh... 3 years? First we had to discover his love for dresses and from that time it was only about turning him into pretty girl. I think I spend the most money on him..

< Need to work on bachelor thesis... too lazy to even think. And still thinking about buying a doll, WHO DOESN'T FIT ANYWHERE! TT_TT

v When you have to choose between more options (like: buy 2 heads on MP for awesome price OR buy a body for the floating head you already have at home OR the super cute super cheap doll), what makes you make the decision? What is the thing that makes you say: "You're going home"?

 

^ Me sitting back and thinking, if this passed me by, how would I feel? Also, if it was already on my mind in a while. Usually something happens to force my hand and then I see how much I really care.

v How does your doll pump themselves up or gain motivation?

^ I still don't have Nova quite where I want him. His hair is too fluffy, his head is out of proportion with his body, he doesn't pose very well... He's just a big work in progress. Ah well, I'll get it right one day!

v What's the best picture you've found of the next sculpt on your to-buy list?

 

^ Promo photo of that sculpt... from profile. I need to see the nose from the side to fall in love with a doll. And his nose is like... So special, that it's perfect for my little cutie :3 (and nooo, he's not going to be the biggest baby in my crew. Definitelly no. Just something around 80cm...) Oh. And who am I talking about? Doll Zone's Leslie :3

< I shouldn't be looking at dolls. I said no more dolls (and my crew is still not complete!!!). But... Hildegarda will need her friend in the future, no? My beautiful girl will need her comrade... right?

v Are you an impulse buyer, or do you stick to the plan?

 

^ Ji-han. He is very meticulous. He'll sometimes manage to drag the others into it, but it's mostly him.

v How would your doll celebrate New Year's?

 

^ V is the ship's doctor, he would probably just sleep the whole day in preparation of the long year ahead while the others engage in all the 9 yards of merry making and non sensical horseplay, says he.

v if your doll would get a job what would it be? and why?

 

^ Nigel is already writing articles for some magazines, but he wants to be novelist. Just because he likes books and writing is his life. Nial is still trying to figure out what he wants to do, but I can totally imagine him as a waiter in some high class restaurant (and I know it's totally not his dream job). But I pretty much believe he wouldn't mind being an assistant in wedding salon. And why? Pretty dresses reminds him of his beautiful boyfriend.

v It's the time when people return unwanted gifts to the stores. What is the worst gift your doll got for christmas and wants to get rid of it?

V What's your wish list for 2018?

 

^ Well, my 2018 wish list is drastically different from my crew's current style. Topping it is Echo Town Delores, with Serenade Doll Ava coming in at second. I would have put in a Tender Creation Rachel there, but the price range is way beyond my league. Basically, more stylized bodies that have a reputation for good posing (at least in the pictures). Unfortunately, I must really put my hobby spending in check this year, so that's what they'll remain... a wishlist.

< I should have a resolution to be less of a worrywart where the future is concerned, but I am worried about screwing things up. ...Oh wait.

v What element from the Chinese zodiac (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) does your doll's character(s) have an affinity with?

 

^ Jace is all about the water. Ed and Al are probably more toward earth (surprisingly), and Winry has the most affinity to metal. Nico's probably earth, too, and I'm not sure where Dani and Emilia would fall...

< I keep forgetting it's Monday. I don't keep forgetting I have to work tomorrow.

v A twist on the last one, which of the classical elements (earth, air, fire, water) does your doll's character(s) have an affinity toward?

 

^ Well I'm not sure I use them the same way, but John is a mix of all four, because the two wizards that he got his magic from are air and fire (Griffen, who may be a doll this year), and water and earth (Ophelia, who will probably never be a doll). So he's kind of a combination.

^ I seriously don't want to go to work.
At least Peter has to go to the vet tomorrow....so I'll know how much he weighs. I'm guessing 20lbs

V What animal would your doll like as a pet? (fantasy animals are ok too!)

 

^ Gobbie would like a cat to serve as her steed.

^ I have the bad feeling... that it was Nigel's last wig. And that is few years back? Or at least that is the only thing that came to my mind... Hmm...

v Accidents happens on daily basis. What was the last BJD related thing you broke, burn or destroyed in another way?

 

^I tore a pair of pants I tried to make because yet again I forgot about seam allowances. It was such an ok pair of pants too....

^ Promith - pitted stone, like carved and weathered granite; Kle - ocean smoothed rocks and shells; Leopold - shiny new brass or other semi-soft metals; Bernard - salt encrusted wood(he's weird); Abernathy - tarnished metals of varying texture; Lavaiou - super finely powdered sand, or freshly sifted flour; Giorges - weathered leather; Amadeus - loamy earth; Nikolai - super soft downy feathers; Jenkins - starchy towels; Magnus - thick hoar-frost just before it melts; Jorvis - dried maple leaves; Calvin - thick parchment, or thin drafting paper; Miluk - silk; Ijah - cotton; Hogarth - thick clover grass; Rourke - dried willow bark, like the kind that's used to make tea.

< I should either get up and do something productive, or give up and try to go to sleep, but I am trapped with a purring kitty on my lap...

v Do your doll's characters' have any New Years Resolutions? Or do you have any doll related New Years Resolutions?

 

^ Guórén would aim to learn more Portuguese (his biological father's tongue) to give him an edge in his job (don't ask him what it is -- it's a touchy topic). Adhara, on the other hand, would try to be more in touch with her non-human side. (She's been living with humans for so long, she rarely took the time to develop her powers.) Unfortunately, their mommy has to curb her bjd-related spending and pay more attention to what she could make on her own. So many HUGE real life expenses are looming on the horizon.

< Been entertaining the thought of shelling out my dolls' characters' children for some time now, but where is my money AND my space?

v Who among your dolls is the most "camera shy" (or at least difficult to take pictures of)? What about the most photogenic?

 

^ Eeeeeeh... Kissa is hard to photograph, since she's extremely white (even after years I own her she's like a brand new O_o ). But... I think Nial and Natsume would be sharing the place as "most photogenic guys in my crew". But who knows what the future holds, maybe some new guy will take their places.

< Okay, my girlfriend stucked one stupid idea into my head... Made an BJD based on kpop singer? Naaaah... But E'Dawn is such a cutie and we found just the right sculpt for him... but... the money...

v Do you have BJD based on real life celebrity? And if that's not minimee, how long were you looking for the right sculpt? Plus: how much time you spend on customizing them to your liking?
