^ Iplehouse. The aesthetic is so up my alley. Plus, I hardly have issues with them.

V How are you doing this fine day?

 

^I'm doing well and planning the setup of my K-pop group. I got shirts in and I'm finishing up their keyboard. I hope to have photos by this weekend.

< Loving the cooler mornings, watching the squirrels bury my pecans that I'm to lazy to pick up.

v Do you have any doll musicians? What do they play?

 

^ Yep. My Hound Israfel is the lead vocals in the band Fallen, Cassiel is the female lead, Spooky is the drummer and Halloween is the guitarist. Their band members come and go, but I think these are pretty set now. Sadly, Israfel's body is being used by Marilyn Manson atm. But he obviously counts too.

V Do all of your dolls match a certain aesthetic, or are they all over the board?

 

^ nope i think they are a bit of everything. Shaylee is all pastels and frill , clover is everyday norm mostly and destiny's gang is all dark colors leather and chains.

v what would yoyr doll character do if they lived ontop a bomb and were told if they leave there is a chance the bomb would go BOOM!?

v What was the first doll you ever got?

 

^ A secondhand Dollzone Fei. Little mini. Not a 'grail', not a 'dream doll', not even the doll I'd considered myself most in love with at the time (which was Dream of Doll's Ducan), but the perfect starter doll for me. I didn't know if this was something I'd want to stick with and I didn't want to jump into the $700 end of the pool only to lose interest. Since it's been nearly ten years now I think I've decided to stick with it. He's long since passed on to another owner though.

< After yesterday's outfit debacle I am NEVER going to leave my work outfit choices until the last minute. I don't feel like being late over something avoidable.

v Is your doll the kind to be early, right on time, or chronically late?

 

^ Christian is Mister Early. He is always early to places. Being late makes him break out in a rash, which is bad since his best friend is chronically late.

v Since I'm distracted by baseball and can't think, I'll pass the question down: Is your doll the kind to be early, right on time, or chronically late?

 

^ Many of my guys have no clue what day it is much less the time. Things flow their way so they never make appointments they just 'do' things. These are the demons and vampires, etc. My humans are all on time, since that is what isn't expected of the others.

^ I'm waiting for my Pukifee wig to put on my Doll Chateau Madeline

^ Dave has the same costume every halloween -- he's a time god.

^ Charging PP fees is a break-it for me. If you can't add it into the cost of the item I just don't want to deal with it. Shipping added into the cost (as in free shipping at this price) is a make-it for me.

< Dog and cat wars. Dog won't stay in the yard and cat is a bully to the dog so I get to watch who gets who first.

v Do you have a prankster character? What prank do they like to do the most?

 

^ Eiko is my prankster. She's a young little witch so she likes to secretly like, turn people's hair green when they're not looking

< Layaway is almost paid off. Life is good.

v Who's your favorite faceup artist? Have you ever got a commission from them?

 

^ I am not sure what their name is, but I really like the style of the person who does Little Monica's face ups. Also, no.

< I think mohair wigs look pretty strange unless they're long and wavy.

v What sculpt do you think has the biggest eyes? Do they unnerve you?

 

^ all I can think of are the old luts delf. especially soo (juri 05 and chiwoo as well, but soo seems to have a smaller face). I wouldn't say they unnerve me, but the bigger the eyes the more you notice gaps and bad positionning and that does bother me xP

v what are your doll-related goals for the rest of 2016?

 

^ Well I don't have any. Other than getting what I have in working order for the last of the years meets (if I can do what I have planned, Christmas will be huge), any goals I have hinges completely on my WAITING ON list. Once parts start showing up - hopefully before 2017 - I will have Pendergast, Dresden, pumpkin head and Gambit to work on, and they are my goals. Other than that I have a MNF Soony hybrid I just put together, and I might play with her a little. But we'll see. Everything else has moved to 2017.

V since my answer was kinda meh: what are your doll-related goals for the rest of 2016?

 

^ Try to get at least one more body in here and order a mess of eyes. It's a mess in the head box at this point, and even having removed two of them, I have more coming in. =n= Including one that showed up today...::headdesk:: Everything else is knitting, sewing, and paying my son's layaway. (It's his allowance, I'm just facilitating the transaction.)

< Nothing like having to explain to your non-hobbyist dad why you have a naked gray cat head in your hands. =u=

v What is at the top of your list for your remaining 2016 doll goals?

 

^ Probably to finish sewing outfits for my three dolls that are still naked

^ I am going to make a photoshoot of my Kpop band with lots of Halloween decorations. *i hope* That's my plan anyway.

^ Throw one hell of a party on the doll shelf while I'm not looking. I found some mini bottles of booze on their shelf a couple years ago, and we have a Weasley now. I fear for my life.

v If your dolls were having a Halloween party, how would it go? Booze and games? Horror movies? Going out or staying in?

 

^ all the movies. coraline, the nightmare before christmas, the corpse bride, you name it. and lots of popcorn.

v Do your dolls exercise?

 

^ well aqua and rontu are fairly active being creatures. Destiny likes training with kai or seil. Also Shaylee loves dancing...i think Clover is the only couch potato that i own so far.

v how many dolls do you currently own?

 

^ Ummmm...not counting the floating heads and bodies, I have 32 whole dolls. The heads and bodies account for another 12 incomplete dolls. -_-; And I have another head incoming, who may claim one of the bodies or force a reshuffling of heads on bodies. I keep saying that I'm in "no more" mode, but then weird stuff happens and I have a new friend...

< I think that Scrambles might have to permanently live on my desk. I'm not much of a cat or anthro person, but Scrambles is amazing. XD And a good NaNoWriMo motivator.

v Which of your dolls inspires you the most, in any regard?

 

^ Right now it's my Ringdoll K, Crow. He inspires me in the hobby, with art and writing. He's my new muse.

V Similar Q: do any of your dolls inspire you outside of the BJD hobby?

 

^ My Oleifr, who is still unfinished, inspired me to "create" a mythical creature called Hyrndrefr (which translates from Old Norse to mean Horned Fox). I am creating an entire universe around him, and it has even made me start learning Old Norse. My other dolls inspire as well, but he seems to be occupying my brainspace most as of late.

< USPS are so flipping lazy where I live...they didn't even attempt dilvering my parcel today...long story - not happy. I want my trade dolly -.-

v Has any doll of yours every claimed something that originally wasn't meant for them (Whether is be BJD related or non-BJD related)?

^ Well, yes. My Razjel takes his name and character from my favourite book, but I added a little bit from myself too.

^ I'd love to give Mara mother-of-pearl nail polish, but I haven't found the right kind of paint yet. I own some nail polish for humans that's the perfect tone, but I'm never ever putting that on resin ... it's that stuff's fault I know exactly what I want, though. Otherwise I might have settled for a compromise.

< @Madeline Moon, depending on how / how bad it broke, you might be able to fix it with superglue.
Job's driving me INSANE. Well, not the job itself, the people assigned to help me. How come they're doing the exact freaking opposite?

v Name one thing that's guaranteed to drive your doll(s' characters) up the wall. Bonus for reasons if it's something unexpected.

 

^ It is very very VERY hard to drive Katen up the wall but nothing does it quite so much like people who incorrectly trim their rosebushes.

^ A Ringdoll body for Sebastian if you ask me, a body for my Raoh head if you ask my Mom. She's a little sad that I can't just get him a cat body. XD She's Scrambles' biggest fan.

v Is your doll the sort to go to an all-night diner in the wee hours of the morning? What would they get?

 

^ Zeke is, absolutely. Honestly, though, he'd probably just get a coffee and spend the time people-watching... the sort of people who are also at an all-night diner in the wee hours of the morning.

< Ughhh... I've been stuck in my apartment all day because they're re-pouring concrete for the landings. I have to go pick up my roommate from work in an hour, and they haven't reinstalled any of the railings. I don't even know if I can leave in time! [stresses] [eats all the bread in the house in a stress-induced frenzy]

v Have you ever successfully incorporated your dolls into a project for school or work? If so, how did it go?

 

^ YES. I did a collage version of one of my photos for an art appreciation class I took on my second spin through college. I think it went reasonably well, and my professor liked it.

< The disadvantage to going to sleep extra early is that when the insomnia hits it's still...fairly early. I really need to do something about this, since nightly bouts with this shit are not fun.

v Do any of your dolls have pets? If so, do you have little resin/plushie/something-or-other versions of them?

 

^ I ordered Rina a little Dollzone egg to be her dragon, though that's not as much a pet. They have a mental link, SO If You cut one the other bleeds..

^ I have some BJD pets, but I can't think of them as a pets for my dolls. They are individual characters.

^ To Australia, so I could get photos of my Ringdolls and Dollshes with @Kavarr and @Quiet and Insane's wonderful RD & DS boys.
< Yeah had lunch with my college student granddaughter and her BF. She is home for the weekend. I have to enjoy it now since her BF is here. Next year they will both be off at college and I don't think I'll see her that often. (I am ranked second behind BF, meh)
v If all your dolls could only have one color wig what would be your choice.

 

^ One colour for all my dolls? Brown, probably. I lurve dark wigs.

< which reminds me, I really need to order that fiber. I want Chrissie's new wig to be done for her anniversary, which is in just shy of a month. Halp.

v Do you have a favorite eye/hair colour combo that pops up a lot in your crew?

 

^ Not really; all of them are different and even where I have overlaps in colors of one they don't overlap in the other. So like...Jes and Dave are both blond but with radically different eye colors. Kiyo and Lian both have green(ish) eyes and radically different hair colors. So no combination is repeated.

< Food is a beautiful thing. So are nice clean clothes fresh off the clothes rack.

v Do you have a favorite hair style that pops up a lot amongst your crew?

 

^ Just short hair in general is kind of a theme. Most of my girls have pixies

^ I love Evie the kid's work. I don't know much about faceup artists since I paint my own dolls, but I know her because I used to live near Hamburg and met her on various doll meets. I love every single one of her dolls.

< planning to play Carol Of The Bells with one of my 6th grade classes. This year's xmas concert gon' be fricken epic.

v Because there are awesome artists who don't do commissions: If you could get one (and only one) commission from one hobbyist, who would they be and what would you ask them to do?

 

^ Before she disappeared into thin air, I used to love Hiritai's work, her dolls always looked so alive. I would have liked a head with one of her faceups. I do my own, so honestly I'm not even sure who I'd have her do. A random head maybe, with total artistic freedom I could then change into whoever I wanted.

V For those of you who do your own faceups, do you have other artists that you admire who inspire you?

 

^ I wish I could do my own faceups. I would die for the skill to do that, but nope. I do love bread17's faceups though; so unbelievably beautiful; if I had the skill to paint my own dolls I can't think of anyone who would inspire me more.

< *snort* I love it when people miss my point. (Especially when that point is 'this is very close to being physically impossible and there is not a fucking chance in HELL anyone could do it randomly with no previous attempts much less no practice', not 'this is very difficult'.)

v Any of your dolls addicted to anything?

 

^ I've got two smokers in my crew, and Carlos has a mild addiction to prescription painkillers. It's all pretty low-key though.

< I might be about to quit my job.

v Do your dolls have jobs?

 

^ Most of my dolls are teenagers or children so most of them don't. But I have one who's a fashion designer, and Merli and Eiko are (probably fake) fortune tellers.

v What kind of foods do your dolls eat?

 

^ Kiyo's a diehard Japanese street food person. If he didn't work out as much as he does he'd probably look like a seat cushion.

< My daughter has never been all that into my dolls. Made the huge mistake of showing her Soom's old MDs. Think I may have created a monster. (However, if she wants that Shonki she thought was the cutest thing on planet earth she is saving her OWN damn money to buy it.)

v Ever gotten a family member into dolls?

 

^ Don't have much of a family to try it on (xD)

v Have you ever take your doll on a holiday?

 

^ No, but I actually ordered my first doll while I was on holiday in Iowa. Me and my parents were in a hotel, I saw this gorgeous doll online, saw that she was limited edition and begged my parents to get me her. She was there when we got home from the trip.

< Why are Angel of Dream's dolls so cheap? I guess I'm buying all of them. Can't stop, won't stop.

v How do you pack your doll for travelling, if you do travel with them.

 

^ Depends on a) where I'm going and b) how many are coming with me. Since they all live in carriers I generally just grab one when I'm heading to a meet (in other words, who I take is determined by what case is nearest). If I'm going a lengthy ways away I'll pack a couple in a rolling carryon, but if I take one on vaca next time I go it'll be one packed well in a doll carrier. I'm sick and tired of having to accommodate turboprops.

< I am a weak potato shell for this show and the main ship. Yes. Yes I am. Also Sonic forgot to include a fork with my boneless BBQ wings which made me sad because it meant I had to walk all the way down the stairs to get a fork.

v Ever had a serious dolly disaster? What was it and how did you solve it?

 

^ Yes. A trade that went south...literally. I sent my end of the trade, the other person didn't. They picked up my doll at the PO and that was the last I knew of it or them. I solved it by posting everywhere (mean everywhere) about the situation until people all over were on the lookout for this person and my doll. Finally her friends - one in particular who I know in person but haven't seen in years - got her to send the doll she owed me. Disaster over. Thank you BJD community for taking care of your own!

V Are you stuck in a forever wait for a doll right now? Has it really been forever, or does it just seem like it? (two months and I'm dying. Ship!!)

 

^ Three. A head from DZ (4 months so far), a full doll from DC (2 months), and a body from DC for the DZ head (1 month).

<I keep forgetting about them, actually...and then getting a rush of excitement when I remember...followed by disappointment when I realise how much longer it's still going to be

v What was your shortest wait?

 

^ it happened so long ago, I can't remember if it was one week or two weeks. The doll was in stock with face up and blushed. I wish all dealers were this fast. The current waiting times are so off putting.

< There I go again: concentrating on a new pattern instead of getting to grip with the last one.

V which one of your dolls would lend you his/her clothes if you were in need of them?

 

^ Four months, on Kiyo, my Red. I paid him off early because I am impatient like that.
