^ I've actually been asked on a few occasions if I do take commissions, and I've politely refused. It's not worth the stress, because I don't want to disappoint people. I'll take commissions from exactly three people, because I know them so well that I know what they like, and they trust me not to make a mess of their doll.

v Have you ever seen something on a face-up that you'd never thought about doing, but you like it so well that you'd like to give it a try on one of your own dolls?

 

^ Probably would have to be the piercings I see on a lot of dolls.

V What genre of music would your doll want to be a band in?

 

^I can see Morte being a singer/songwriter, playing an acoustic guitar and singing songs that were beautiful, all French soprano and acoustic bliss--unless you understand his lyrics. Then it's dark stuff: death and this life he's lead thereafter. There is one ridiculously sappy hit, simply entitled "Katherine", after his lover.

V where would your doll's band's first tour stop be?

 

^ Probably a smallish Irish Pub or somesuch, they'd most likely be on the Folk-inspired side.

v Sticking to the band theme: Who would be most likely to come up with ideas for songs?

 

^ Robbie isn't in a band proper but he does sing and play acoustic guitar. He writes his own songs and plays them for friends and family, so, out of all of my musically inclined characters/dolls, he would be the most likely to come up with ideas for songs.

< I need to tweak the story I'm writing, and fix some dialogue..

v Do you write stories about your dolls or their characters? If you do are they for personal reference, or do you share them with your friends?

 

^ one of my dolls will only see light in old personal use only type stories, haha. The rest are all from things I intend to get published, which are currently read only by my ex, and a couple other good friends.

V what's your most elaborate doll-character's backstory?

 

^ hmmm...I would have to say my floating head, Alex's, character. She went through approximately 5 character arcs and still going...still need to write it though...

v what is your favourite dolls backstory, if they have one?

 

^ Probably Promith's, now that it's almost all the way fleshed out. Well, it'd be Promith and Leopold's, since the older brother is the one who usually gets things to come together story-wise... Otherwise... All of them XD

v Do you have a dynamic duo in your group? Are they best buds or frienemies for life?

 

^ I have a handful of dynamic duos. Christian and Rei are absolute best friends forever, Emmerich and Samir have an unusual working dynamic, Matilda and Alcyone have sort of latched onto each other out of necessity but actually like each other, and Alan and Sev hate each other's guts (But not really. Don't let them know I told you that.) This doesn't even go into the siblings and the romantic couples.

^Ooooh, I am going to get into so much trouble answering this question but I here I go @VampireAngel13's Alex any and all of them but especially (DC Colin) Alex.

v What do you wish you could make for your dolls?

 

^ Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. She's usually sitting on the bed my friend made for her, sometimes I put a little tray of doll food on her lap or have her cuddling a stuffed animal or something.

v What was your first doll's character and personality and backstory and all that stuff like? Or if they don't have that, what kind of clothes do you like to dress them in?

 

^ Alex (Dollmore Kara Klum NS) was my first and his character was going on 10 years old when I got the doll, so his backstory is long, overly-complex and too much to get into. He dresses in sloppy, grunge clothes most of the time, but sometimes I put him in slightly nicer things, depending on my mood, and what I've recently bought since he gets most of the clothes.

Three of them are still in their Christmas outfits, one is still dressed in the clothes he wore to a doll meet in September. Yep. I am that fail.

V How do you "play" with your dolls?

 

^thEre are times when I'll pose them all together, take pictures, make things for them. My other favourite thing is to sit one on the couch and subtly make his eyes follow one of my family members until they tell me to quit it.

V do you have one doll you spoil above all the others?

 

^ no, they're all equally spoiled, even the littlest ones

^ Yeah, I'd say Aubrey is my most spoiled. He has a very expensive wardrobe and an equally expensive miniature real china tea set. Since I probably wouldn't have gotten Zera (IMPL Alma) if it hadn't been for Aubrey, I think that definitely puts him way up there in teh 'spoiled' category haha.

^ Doll-A-Kon and yes, many! Driving is so much easier and cheaper than flying, and I don't have to stress over doll travel.

^ota fest in Calgary, and I'm trying to get a doll really ready, possibly ready to cosplay with me (but as who? I don't watch enough anime!) I'll bring... Probably Jo. Cause she's frickin cool and I'd love to show her off at the panel, but I don't know if she'll be ready. Maybe I'll make Lucille and I'll be Edith (from crimson peak)

V do any of your dolls cosplay?

 

^ I wish! Cosplay isn't a thing in their world but if one did, I need a Phoenix Wright and Maya Fay cosplay.

V What activities do you do when you feel like you're losing touch with your dolls?

 

^ I don't know if 'putting them away in their boxes in the closet' counts as an activity lol. Usually, when I feel like I'm losing touch with my dolls, I don't do anything doll-related. If I'm away from them for a while and I find myself missing them, then they come back out. If I don't miss them, then I consider re-homing them.

< don't care...don't care...la la la.... *covers ears with hands* This is pretty much how I feel about this day already, and I haven't even been awake for two hours yet.

V Have you ever been tempted to buy a doll that you said you'd never buy, or another doll from a company you said you'd never buy from again?

 

^fairyline Scarlett. I said I wasn't into FL's aesthetic. I said I couldn't afford her and then they made that tail. I can not afford her without a significant dent to the savings. I'm very tempted to order her if I pass the exam I have today...

<there. That's my reward. I get the doll if I pass the exam (it's even called a DELF!)

V passing it down. Have you ever been tempted to buy a doll you said you never would? Or from a company you said you'd never buy another doll from?

 

^ I used to own an EID way back when Iple first released them. He was big, expensive and limited. I hated him. I swore never to own another Iplehouse doll again (even though I think the company is wonderful). Last fall I ordered a JID, and now EID Bane is due to arrive any day now.....I swear I should never swear not to do a thing in this hobby. Because then I always do the thing.

V Have you had any new arrivals lately? Recent orders? Dolls you would like to order but haven't gotten around too yet?

 

^ Jeremy's head is my most recent arrival, but I haven't done anything with him beyond a face-up, because of getting ready for the move. He doesn't even have a wig yet, poor noodle-boy. I'm still paying off my Dollzone layaway, and I've been so tempted by so many heads lately. TnT I promised myself no more whole dolls until most of the Head Box is clear, and ordering a mess of heads would be counter-productive.

< Blergh. It's cold and I need more coffee because I have a nasty little headache that's promising to be a nice big one if I don't deal with it quickly.

v What's on your doll shopping/ to-do list? Not actual dolls, but wigs, eyes, clothes, etc.?

 

^ Right now, it's (more) clothes for Zera, my IMPL Alma. My IMPL Azalea should probably get clothes too, but nothing I put on her looks good and I'm losing the will to deal with it anymore.

< lunch break yay! I wish I'd brought my knitting to work though.

V Have you purchased any dolls in 2016 yet? (hahaha I haven't and it's halfway through April. I feel like I've accomplished something)

 

^ Guilty as charged! I've bought two heads (one? Not sure about when I ordered my Dollmore head, might've been last year), paid off a layaway for two dolls at once (AprilStory's final sale, couldn't resist), received my MP purchased Ringdoll head in today and ordered IOS Bel Canto just last week. Then again, I was going to try and get as many of them home as I could swing, it's been years and I want to get started on the photostories.

< Said new arrival, much as I love him, doesn't match anything though. I had the suspicion Ringdoll tan would be a lot darker than my other tan dolls ... looks like I was right. Too bad. Now what?

v Did you ever buy a doll, receive them and something didn't go according to plan? What was it and (how) did you solve it?

 

^ My first doll got lost in the mail! I was able to contact the post office and got her back a little late. They shipped her to New Jersey!

< I'm in school and it's so so boring. Hate Mondays.

v In response to the < in the previous post, have you ever received a doll only to find they don't fit? What did you do?

 

^ I change their clothes and surf the web for pictures of humans in beautiful outfits. This is usually followed by a bout of sewing which in turn leads me to handle my dolls and appreciate them.
Oops, didn't spot the last posts. All my dolls fit in, they just feel moody at times.

V If your doll was given the choice of a room at the top of a fantastic hotel, which view would he/she choose and which drink would he/she sip?

 

^ I can see Neferet taking a long slow sip of her bloody wine, looking out across a picturesque vista, the only flaw to it the sense of solitude. From the top of her tower, she'd finally know though, that she was isolated. That she was safe. That nothing could touch her now.

<that first half of my French test didn't go so badly... Maybe...

V does your main doll character feel more at home alone or in a crowd (and with people they care about)

 

^ Alone. Unless it's her gf, then it's okay. Even her BFF / sister-by-choice apartment mate will get on her nerves sometimes, and she tends to shut herself up in her room for hours / days at a time when she's having one of her extreme introvert phases.

< I need some doll time. Carlos needs a wig, now that I've made up my mind about that, and I need to make up my mind about a body for Norman ... or a normal skin "replacement". The poor head though, he's been re-sold once already

v Have you ever sold a doll? Why (not)?

 

^ I tend to prefer glass eyes but I hoard eyes in general. I have glass eyes from many different companies in different dolls, and a few select have Souldoll Acrylics. One has Soom Silicon. Overall though, glass eyes for everyone.

v Passing the question along. Do you have a preference in eye type? Any exceptions?

 

^ Yeah, I have mostly glass eyes, too. Three are wearing Soom Silicone, two have the Souldoll Acrylics, two have Ersa Flora acrylic glow-in-the-dark, two have one glass and one steampunk acrylic(also Ersa Flora), and one has the acrylic eyes he came with second hand, but the rest (14) have glass eyes.

v Switching the question slightly: Do you have a preference in wig types? Fur wigs, angora, synthetic, a specific brand?

 

^ I have several types of wigs as I prefer style over type but my favorite ones are mohair.

V From which company do you have the most dolls?

 

^ withdoll, and Soom if you include hybrids. I have two dolls from Withdoll and one full doll, one body and one head for another body (which I'm trying to obtain...)

V is there a company you want more dolls from?

 

^ I could do with another Granado. And a Ringdoll (body or full doll I haven't made up my mind). Apart from that, as far as one particular company goes ... nope. I'm a couple bodies short, but ... we'll see. If I do get "younger" dolls, I have a couple Doll In Mind girls I'd like, but that's quite literally a different story. I'm very nearly "done" with the Must-Haves.

< I don't want to work. I want to make a wig, finish a top and sew a nightshirt.

v What would you rather be doing with / making for your dolls right now?

 

^ Right now I would rather be sleeping than just about anything else. But, if we're talking about dolls, I'd like to be working on Zera's sweater dress.

V If you could only keep one or two of your current dolls, which one(s) would you keep? Any special reason why?

 

^ Chris would have to stay, she was my first for a reason and as close to grail as I get. (Well, she's basic now so she probably doesn't count, but she's the one sculpt I would have done absolutely anything for.) Chris without Katie doesn't work ... so even though I'm madly in love with Carlos right now, it would have to be those two girls.

v Which of your dolls is the most / least customized?

 

^ That's a tough one. I have dolls that still need customization....but don't have it yet. I guess Little Wyn is the least, I kept the faceup his head came with, and plopped him on a body I already owned.
Alex is probably the most, he's modded and tattooed and some are scarred and I made III's wig. Ringdoll K will be up there when he's finished, plus he's a hybrid. Which counts.

V Which of your dolls has the most complicated character? How do you show that using the doll?

 

^ eep, me again. Can't resist .... but I'll be passing on the Q because it's an awesome one!
Since I'm currently working on him, Carlos comes to mind - but several of mine are on the complicated side. Carlos has a prosthetic leg, pain issues (partly psychosomatic) and a mild addiction to (prescription) painkillers. It was his own fault that he lost the leg, so he's having trouble adjusting to his situation, refusing to acknowledge he might have a problem that's not strictly physical. His prosthetic came out with a slightly bent knee which I didn't correct, because now he stands the most stable in a posture that makes it look like he's trying to keep the weight off his leg. He smokes, his faceup has shadows under the eyes (which I need to deepen once the weather clears up enough for spraying) and he'll get all the accessories (got the cigarettes already, still need to make the pills, crutches and various wound care paraphernalia).

< which I'll start working on today. Hopefully. Tired to death ... but ... dolly time! Much needed dolly time ...

v Passing on the q! Which of your dolls has the most complicated character? How do you show that using the doll?

 

^either grim or Jo, but we'll talk about Grim... Grim was an abused child who decided that the only way to be safe in this world was to become worse than his demons (and did this by pretty much becoming exactly like his mother--down to choice of weapon, To little expressions, everything.) He thinks that being powerful means being the scariest thing he remembers. He has the scars that make his backstory evident, and subtly, his weapons (a flintlock and a whip) both have her initials Hidden on them. As well, in his species, the eye colour tells something about how they died, and his is, rather ironically, the same as his mother's would be if she'd become a reaper.) his fangs as well go back to this concept of taking what he hated most and becoming it, as she had been notorious for poison, and he has now become literally known as the viper, for the toxins he makes. This is a large point in his storyline, trying to grow beyond what she turned him into.

V do all of your dolls have characters and stories?

 

^ My MSDs and YOSDs do not have stories as such. They just represent easy going family ties. It is probably due to the fact that I can't sew clothes this small. My SDs are slowly evolving personalities because I can create clothes for them and for their stories.

V If your doll (s) were/was given the choice between living on the ground or living at roof level with no means of moving from one level to another, which level would he/she/they choose?

 

^ Most of them would choose the roof. A few would probably choose the ground, like Rigoletto and Renigauld, but most are meant for sailing or general adventuring, it would kill them to be stuck in one place. But if they were going to be stuck in one place, it'd better be a place with a view.

< It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine. Because it means no more work and no more covering for people when other people don't care and things don't get done because there's only so much one person can hold together, especially when being dragged in five different directions because the person one is covering for didn't do half of the things it is their job to do on Friday. I don't mind doing a few things above my pay-grade, but man, if I'm doing this much on a consistent basis I'm going to demand a raise pretty soon.

^ Some of my dolls have lived through the apocalypse and at least one other is going to. So they're good to go. And they kick ass. We have zombie apocalypse and magical-worlds-collide-creating-huge-scary-tentacle-monster apocalypse happening here.

The lives my dolls live really kinda suck...

^i have an apocalypse storyline in my main doll verse. It was a supernatural end of days. Reapers gone haywire. Grim and Jo hopped on a ship and just did their best to survive. Katherine had to go dark, and her and Morte (as well as some characters I'm not shelling) are guarding a small church of humans. Thanatos would hide frost, protect only what is his. Famine is actually roped into the apocalypse, but works against it as much as possible. Cadere gives up and just tries to be with famine when she can... And Jack has a blast. He loves it.

V how would your doll characters survive the apocalypse?

 

^ Some of my dolls would not survive the apocalypse as they are standard Humans with no means to really fight any kind of apocalyptic event. Those that would survive, would do so by fleeing the planet and this universe into an adjoining pocket dimension called The Forest, which is a safe haven to many different worlds, alternate universes, and dimensions. October, Crunchy, and Twinkle are FROM that dimension.

< I should probably be asleep but I really don't see that happening.

v Similar question, assuming that your dolls absolutely would survive the apocalypse, how would they do it? Someone rescues them? They run away? Flee the known universe? What makes the most sense for your dolls characters/world?

 

^ I'm thinking of a "supernatural" / "magic" type of apocalypse, a bit like the awakening of magic in the Shadowrun universe. Some of them would be cool with awakening magic powers and could adapt pretty quickly, so they'd probably save the others' arses. Lauren and Sven are in an SCA type of society so they know how to handle swords and bows and the like, and have some basic survival skills (plus know people that know more). They adapt, stick together, watch out for each other and get through as a pack.

v What kind of supernatural / fantasy stuff exists in your dolls' world? Or if (like mine) they live in a real world kind of setting, but you had to add something, what would it be? Fantasy creatures? Magic? Zombies? Aliens?

 

^ Since my characters are from four storylines... Descent has angels, demons and ghosts. Two Worlds has aliens. Sprites has (surprise!) elemental sprites. Still Bravely Singing is the only one of my storylines that doesn't have some sort of SF or fantasy element, and I can't imagine what sort of fantasy or SF element that could be introduced without taking away from the credibility of that fictional world.

V How do you usually display your dolls? (standing, sitting, etc?)

 

^ My doll is currently too loosely strung to do anything but sit at the moment XD She normally sits on a shelf with my other dolls.

^ Sitting, primarily, but usually posed in some sort of entertaining fashion or with small props so they don't get bored. I like to do silly things with them when they're all just sitting around. Daphne and Lord Sparklebutt especially get to do silly stuff since they are ultra-tiny and can sit on the big dolls' head or shoulders very well.

< I *really* need to work on a better name for Sparklebutt. He's so imperious and handsome and I don't know how to name elves. ^^;

^ Sitting. Always sitting. I don't trust them not to fall, even with stands. No amount of pretty displaying is worth damaged dolls.
Some of them I don't even trust sitting *eyeballs Joker2 and his weird butt joints*

V Do you restring your dolls yourself? If so, how do you decide when a doll needs to be restrung?

 

^ Yes, I restring all my dolls by myself, from the 11cm one right up to the 72cm boys. I feel like they need to be restrung when they're having trouble holding poses or standing on their own, or if something happens to the elastic, or if I'm sueding or otherwise doing mods or maintenance. I disassembled Aubrey last year when I travelled across the country with him, so he needed to be restrung when we got to our destination and then we did it all over again for the trip home For some of them, they tend to need more frequent restringing. Others, I've only ever restrung once. I've restrung every one of my dolls at least once, though.

V What are your feelings on unassembled doll kits (such as the one Migidoll is currently offering)?

 

^ I'm all for it since I'm not intimidated by stringing them together. If the doll price and shipping goes down appreciably I'd love to buy a wish list doll that way.

v Are you getting your dolls ready for the changing seasons?

 

^ Nope. They stay dressed for winter all year, because those are the clothes I like! XD

V slightly altered question: Do you change your dolls for the seasons, and what season do like best (for fashion! lol)?

 

^ I generally do change my dolls for the seasons. They don't all have appropriate seasonal clothing, but my 'favourites' do. Winter lasts so long here that they wear winter clothes the most, but I do like putting them in spring/summer clothes in warm weather. I don't really have a favourite seasonal clothing style. Some of them look better in winter clothes and some look better in airy summer clothes. It just depends.

V Are any of your dolls more of a 'fashionista' than the others?

 

^ Valletta is my fashionista for certain, though Lily Minor has a much bigger wardrobe.

^ Yes. I believe that Caius Levi is content with the gothic look. I don't think he's up for just one outfit though. XD

v If you were given the chance to bring one of your dolls to life, who would it be and why?

 

^ Assuming that the doll's character would retain their magical powers and personality, I would bring Ichigo to life. He's adaptable, capable of subtle magic, and is a walking good luck charm. I would make him real so that luck would always be in my favor and I'd have great company for it.

< I am hesitantly optimistic about class tomorrow. I have such interesting discussions in my psych class.

v What would you do, if ALL of your dolls came to life? Like as full sized people according to their characters? Is there anyone that would have to leave, because DRAMA?

 

^ I would go spastically happy and huggleglomp each and every one of them! Except for Nek. She would likely be trying to kill me, but so long as Byrnar is up and at 'em, too, I should be able to escape with my life XD
Although, if that includes character dolls I suppose attempting to hug Zoro would end similarly... But I'd prolly just be able to hide in the next room and wait for him to find his way to Canada or somewhere...
An after thought - it would be somewhat disturbing to open my drawer full of floating heads to find they are conversing or cursing about their fate...

^ I'd be terrified because mine are wizards or magic creatures.
