^ She hasn't seen them in person, but a girl from another hobby (Star Trek Larp, aka the thing that's eating my time right now) and I were having a sewing meet and she told me about all the costumes she'd like to make, but on a smaller scale and how she was considering sewing for dolls, so I told her about how that sounded familiar and was the way I got into BJDs. She liked the idea.

< MSo much to sew, so little time ... two more days! Zippers = nemesis.

v What part of doll sewing (or customization or maintenance or whatever it is you do yourself) do you like least?

 

^ Stringing a doll is the bane of this hobby for me. Trying to get the right tension, playing with sueding in joints, trying wiring, basically anything to get a doll to hold a pose. How finiky it is to make a good poser.

^ This one. I do this partially to keep myself out of trouble, because I have a tendency to be, uh, a wee bit acidic if I encounter legit stupidity (see: everyone who's EVER seen me in the anti-recast threads).

v Any of your dolls paired off with other dolls? Do you own their partners or do their partners live elsewhere?

 

^ Nek and Byrnar are paired together, I own both. I actually have a rule that they have to stay together all the time - if I bring Nek out to work on her outfit, Byrnar has to come out, too; if I bring one to a meet up I have to bring the other; etc. Their doll selves get to be everything their novel selves can't be, so they're pretty much inseparable.

< The Doctor Strange movie was awesome, sooo worth the migraine I always get from going to the movie theatres - I may have to go see it again.

v If your doll(character) could have one superpower, what would it be?

 

^ yerba mate. He is at his best when the moons are at their peaks in the night sky so mornings aren't his cup of tea, or coffee, for that matter. He got hold of a glass mate and a stainless bombilla from the world of Humans and prefers them to the usual traditional cups. He cannot abide the gourds and has little liking for wooden mates, as he doesn't need that much awakening (talking non-stop and spending 48 hours without sleep aren't among the joys of life in his book). His sisters think he fusses over nothing. . They haven't tried it yet.

V when the chips are down (= when a very serious situation arises), what is your boy/girl's first action?

 

^Rina defaults to her assassin training. She just shuts down emotionally and starts making plans to defeat whatever the opponent is. For instance, when she's flying home and detects a strong and opposite alliance, she assumes the worst, and starts with "i break in, see if I can learn much on them: plans, weapons, weaknesses. Go home. Evacuate the roommates. Charge up powers with one of them before he leaves. I have to strike first, I need the element of surprise."

When the chips are even more down, and she's pretty much watching Tacet torture someone she's come to care for, she switches rapidly from assassin mode to her martyr complex taking over and decides that she has to, without thinking for alternatives, or calling for backup, or realizing that Tacet is more than capable of taking her on if she knows she's coming, she immediately flies to Tacet's apartment and begs for Tacet to let the other person go and take her instead.

< this marks my most successful NaNo to date. I'm almost a day ahead! (Goal is to be 1-2 days ahead so I can take Thursday and Friday off to spend with the future Mrs. Chameleon.

V here's a a question. Knowing it's real means you have to make a decision: one, keep denying it or two, do something about it. Which does your favourite doll character typically do?

 

^They are almost all "do something about it" typed guys. Jamie would hide behind Chael while he did whatever needed doing. Austin and Rog would cheer them on. It's all about having a house full of wizards, demons and vampires. Stuff happens - a lot.

v If you doll had the choice between hanging out with his/her best buddies all weekend or spend just an hour with his/her SO what would they do?

 

^ Does it count if your SO qualifies as one of said best buddies? Because Cecil would happily hang out with the members of his adventuring party, and his wife was one of them.

v Would your doll ever run for office? Which one, and what would be their odds of winning?

 

^ none would, they are too young and too interested in travelling.

V if a nearby tree kept appearing and disappearing, what would be your BJD's first move?

 

^ Xander wouldn't understand why it's strange
Jack and Erika wouldn't care
Ian would start a case to investiage the issue
Prima would be delighfully mystefied and help Ian solve the case to learn about it's wonderment.
Duke would enquire into the purpose of it disappearing and reappearing on his own, but forget about it so long as nothing nefarious was afoot.

^ Uh. Um. I don't know if any of my dolls have fashion icons. Dave idolizes Snoop Dogg but I'm pretty sure that's not necessarily from a fashion standpoint. Macklemore, maybe -- gotta have that thrift shop style, bro.

< MY fashion icon is Ashley Graham. I want to be her when I grow up. And if you've never heard of her google her like...NOW. Most gorgeous woman on planet Earth, srsly.

v Which part of your BJD do you obsess over the most? Hair? Nose? Joints? anything else?

 

^ I guess it would have to be eyes. I like my realistic guys to have realistic size eyes. Each guy has to have his special color so I can't just order eyes until he comes home.

< Also fangirling over Granado's V-07 since he is coming home to me! Yay!

^ Eyes. I go CRAZY until I find the right eyes, because I usually have a very specific image in my head and I need to match that image. I need to track down the right eyes for Jes; Mystics are so hard to find these days.

^ Urethane Doll Flower Eyes!!!! OMG I own two pairs from them and nothing else I have compares.So expensive and annoying to get tho. But Makao Urethane eye are a beautiful, affordable and available second choice tho

v What usually inspire you the most when you start working on (or shopping for) a new doll?

 

^ I don't really think I have any specific thing that "inspires" me. Right now, my sole inspiration is chasing the final doll in my collection. (And it would be my goddamn LUCK that the best deal I've ever seen on one is at a time when I absolutely cannot afford it...sigh.)

v Is there anything that truly scares your doll? I don't mean little frights, I mean legit keeps you up at night scared.

 

^ John is afraid of being committed, as in locked up. It's his biggest fear and he does lose sleep over it, and it's shaped his whole life.

^ a Delf Joe from Luts! He's a recent addition to my want list, but also the final one to finish up my crew. I actually just purchased my long time want doll yesterday xD

^ Lets answer for Effie. Effie loves staying inside, warm under a million layers of blankets with a cup of tea and a stack of books beside her. If she has to be outside -- thick jacket and six million scarves. She grew up in Boston, but has never been very fond of the cold. Doesn't like the heat either though...hard to please.

< OMG I want Lumeriel back. I'm so excited, my foresty druidy lady! And Cec's body should ship aaaaaany day now if A-S's times are consistent...and in 2 months I move 1.2k miles away...AUGH so much happening! Why must I wait for it all!

v What is the biggest grail doll you've ever wanted? Do you have it or still wish for it?

 

^My grail is Motesto, aka Pluto with the EVOL body from Granado (details below).

< I had been stalking many bjd website for three years and look at so many models before I bought this first bjd.

V If you had your own company for making bjd models, how would you name it, and what style/theme would inspire you to create your product line?

 

^ I would name it "Hell Freezes Over Dolls" and the aesthetic would be very old-school CP. The name derives from the fact that I lack the artistic ability to sculpt dolls to the point where hell would actually have to freeze over in order for me to produce anything even remotely resembling a human.

< I'm binge-watching Yuri!!! On Ice for the umpteenth time because it makes me feel better about the world. The bottle of red sitting next to me doesn't hurt either.

v What's your doll's dream job?

^ Thomas would definitely be one to save himself first. He might feel really guilty afterwards though.

^ My oldest doll, is seven years old, my latest is in the mail on her way to me Lol

^ Forever and ever, Elfdoll. I will carry the Elfdoll torch until I keel over.

^mine are all students.

^ Since we are 3 blocks from the beach some swimming, kite flying, windsurfing, nighttime bonfires and fishing goes on.

^ Commando.

^an insane doll château order. Possibly shoes and eyes. I just realized one of my close friends would gladly make clothing for dolls for me, SO I can not make that other huge order. Which is a plus. I'm making him wings.

^ Aesthetic, mostly. Same faceup artist too, since I paint them myself. The one that came with a company faceup does sorta stick out ... but I can't bring myself to wipe him.

< How. HOW did I slip up so freaking badly. I hope it's less of a desaster than I feel it is right now.

v Confession time! Did you buy any dolls this year? How many of them were planned?

 

^ I bought two dolls and only one was planned. Both required much more work than ANY of my previous dolls. One of them is still in need of maintenance ☹️.

V if you could correct one of your dolls' quirks, which would it be?

 

^ I'll go with physical quirks and say that I need to correct the fact that Dave's floppier than a ragdoll. Need string.

v How does your doll's character react to emotional upheavals?

 

^ He gets extremely annoyed and anxious. Mostly he just wants to go somewhere to be alone and vent out the anger by himself.

^ For Timmy that's probably his Mom. Although he'd never admit it, given the fact he's 15.

^ Kiyo LOVES monjayaki. Delicious, delicious Japanese street food. Yum.

< If I wasn't so full I'd want okonomiyaki right now but a) I am really really full and b) I don't have any cabbage anyway.

v Does your doll do any kind of art? I mean ANY kind, whether it be visual, performing, or some other.

^ Jo did, for the longest time. Rejected every character idea (she was one of the extremely rare ones I bought without knowing who she'd be) for years. Then once I had Katie re-shelled she let me know she was Jo (Katie's sister) and how it would have been weird to have her home before Katie who is a main character, so she sort of kept it a secret until then.

< WHY. Why do people suck so much. I don't want to go to court, but walking all over people's rights like that, the a-hole in question leaves me no choice. I've got better things to do with my time, thank you very much!

v Your doll is faced with a tricky decision. What do they do?

 

^ He probably wouldn't even realize it and get distracted by the next cute thing he'd see..

^ Azure had a thing for Lena, a friends doll and they only see each other at meets. I've heard that her boyfriend arrived so poor Azure will have to suffer a broken-heart.

^ Jes tends to just let it roll off her back and go on to the next thing.

^ Clover is like me, she loves getting things in the mail, no matter what they are.
