Jany, love the skirt! Great use of the lace. The sweater is also very nice, very nordic! And the pjs look very comfy. Latefa, oooh, I saw a shirt like that in a clothing add a while ago and added it to my "things I want to make patterns for" folder... It looks really nice! batchculture, the pants turned out awesome! I find it so hard to make well-fitting pants. ankhensepnamun, the floral dress is so cute! I'd never had guessed the fabric was original pjs. And the cargo pants are amazing, love them! I had a change of plans for my Sujeong - she decided she didn't want some stupid frilly shirt and boring mori style balloon shorts. She informed me she is more into bright colors, kawaii prints and comfy things. Hence I altered one of my patterns and got this: The bunny print was a baby shirt-dress, and the red fabric was a shirt - a shop close to here recently had a sale for 6-packs of shirts in bright colors. Ava (Unoa Sist): * simple shirt (AntiqueLilac "Cute & Colorful", resized to 103%) * summer skirt (AntiqueLilac "Cute & Colorful", resized to 103%) * tights & arm warmers (AntiqueLilac "Cute & Colorful", resized to 103%) Julie (Aidolls Sujeong): * raglan shirt dress (my own pattern) ✔ * tights (my own pattern) ✔ Lacey (DC Merlin): * simple t-shirt (own pattern) * pleated skirt (own pattern) * socks (my own pattern) ✔ Praise (Souldoll Dudy): * sleeveless blouse with beading and lace (my own pattern) ✔ * blue balloon shorts (own pattern) ✔ * brown balloon shorts (own pattern) ✔ * socks with lace ✔t
Thanks! There is a fleamarket for baby and children's clothing every month, and there are always so many adorable items with perfect prints for doll clothes.
Thanks Kelardy! I couldn't have done it without Inuchick's pattern. Just add some seam allowance if you sew for IOS class 60 I love the lacey balloon shorts you made for your little girls. So cute!
I didn't sign up for this month because last month was such a bust for me, I was ill, I didn't want to sew and now I've created a vest top, shorts and a cardigan/robe all out of recycled materials so I guess this month was more inspiring for me.
I'm glad you're back -in-the-game as far as sewing is concerned. I had a little tme to work on one of my projects yesterday, but I've hit a problem with my sewing machine - something went wrong with the tension and I'm not sure what is causing the problem... I may have to dig out the spare machine and take the regular one into be serviced and repaired. Between that and the broken camera, I'm not doing well this month. Teddy
I'm not officially in this round, but I found some cool striped socks at my favorite thrift store, so I made Ryuma this hoodie. It still needs the hood fixed, a zipper and maybe pockets, but for some reason this hoodie was so difficult to sew, even though I just finished making my first lined suit jacket. I guess sometimes its the simple things that can trip you up. Now to pick off all the little lint balls from these socks. I guess I should have expected it from a pair of 49 cent thrift store socks, but the stripes are perfect for shy Ryuma! Ryu
Thanks a lot, chrystal and Keladry! So many pretty outfits (and I still can't get over how big those Lusion girls are )
Great to see what everyone´s been working on! Will go back and take a better look a little later. I particularly love the last outfit you made, Keladry. It´s a really wonderful picture of your girl too: she really comes to life there, such a happy little girl! A few days after joining this project, my Mom got taken ill suddenly, and I had to put my own life on hold for a while and stay at her house to take care af her. (As well as act as a sort of secretary for her practice and contact her clients etc., not really the job I´m cut out for ). But thankfully she’s doing a lot better now, and I was able to go back home recently and pick up where I left off with the sewing project too. I did manage to knit a few pairs of socks while I was at my Mom´s, they were made from yarn I bought from a second hand shop, so that´s recycling in a way too, right? Luckily I´d managed to get quite a few things done in the very first few days, and in the past 2 days I finished two more items. Though for the girl, Ferial, I´m still very much behind, so I won't be able to finish all I´d planned for her on time for the end of this round, but I´ll do my best. Progress update of planned items (green means it's done, red is still on my to do list): Ferial (DiM Luria, MSD) - boots made from an old teddy bear, that I made a few years ago from an old coat, so I guess that’s double recycling! Still needs some finishing, but pretty sure I can do that fairly quick. - coat made from a cream colored ‘wooly’ sock and cotton fabric - baggy trousers - leggings - long blouse with a belt Robin (DiM Alpon, MSD) A= small girl’s tights that are going to be made into a T-shirt with long sleeves. B= An old child’s shirt and/or my old kitchen curtain for a pair of trousers that end just below the knee. Sort of finished these, but still want to make braces (suspenders) to go with them some day. C= A moth-eaten sweater I found at a second-hand shop. It’s still great for making an MSD sweater! D= two belts my Mom doesn’t use will be turned into scarves. E= My favorite old pair of organic cotton pyjama’s will be used for a t-shirt with long sleeves. F= baseball shirt parts I already cut out of old t-shirts. G= either the blue t-shirt or beige small t-shirt scraps will be used for a pair of comfy, baggy trousers. Sven (DiM Edmon, SD) - I’ll be making a pair of jeans out of my favorite pair that’s so full of holes I can no longer wear them. - From the shirt that’s way too big for me, I’ll be making a T-shirt with long sleeves. - The old baby pants are going to be turned into a sweater. Yeah, uhm… started on this, but in my hurry to get finished on time, I made a mistake in not using the pattern I’d intended to use, so now I’ve got to improvise a bit. Looks like it will probably end up with short sleeves now. Here's what I've finished for him so far (shirt and jeans): The jeans gave me a lot of problems (crotch area), and along the way (when only the fly still needed double stitching) I also learned to sew with double needles, so I´m looking forward for a second try in a next project round, but I´m still pretty happy with this attempt.
I am glad to read that your mom is doing better. And I love the outfit you made. The jeans look great to me and the fit of the t-shirt is excellent!
hi all! Amazing to see everyone's work!! eep, so exciting! ,,. ,,. that said, thought you'd like to know that my wrist is in a splint and recovering ^0^ I'll probably be able to use my left hand again properly in... well, about a month, if all goes well. I'm getting it checked up again next week at the hospital, so fingers crossed XD just wanted to tell a bunch of sewing folks about this because it's a raging pain not being able to sew when I really want to. in other news: I've ordered a doll from SOOM >o< and I'm expecting her to arrive mid-July :3
Glad to hear your Mum's doing better now, Wolfboy, and that you're making progress on the sewing - Good luck! Wishing you a speedy recovery AngellDoll, don't let he frustration of not being able to sew get to you - use the time to plan projects for when you can do them again. A tip from when I damaged my wrist some years back - ease back into using it gradually. I set a timer for fifteen minutes, would work on a project until te timer went off, then sto immediately, and go do something else, not involving that wrist, for a while, then set the timer or ntoher 15 minutes of work. That way, I didn't get carried away with a succession of "just finish this bit"... "I'll stop once I get to that part".. and end up working for too lng and settign back the recovery of the wrist. Today is the start of a bank-holiday weekend so I have three days for catching up on projects. I have other stuff to get done too, but today is dolly-sewing day! Teddy
So much cute stuff! Finished my last outfit this morning. Everything except the keyhole plaque is made of recycled clothing. Even the shoes are a pair from goodwill that I painted.
Oh well done! I got another dress *almost* finished - I'll work on the hand-finishing while on the train going to collect my sewing machine from the shop (had to take it yesterday as I couldn't get it working - they called me later to say it's working fine for them...{sigh!}) Anyhow that's a couple of hours round trip so has been (and is) eating into my sewing time. I might get another dress done before the end of the day, but I wouldn't bet on it. Teddy
Thanks a lot batchculture and Teddy! Sorry to read about the problems with your sewing machine, Teddy, though I suppose the good news is that it should work just fine for you too again once you've collected it. Happy sewing, both by hand and machine again! ankhensepnamun: That's a great outfit! AngellDoll: I hope your wrist heals well and you'll soon be able to sew again. Maybe in the meantime you could already plan ahead for the upcoming rounds and work on ideas, gather materials etc? At least you'd be all set to go when you're able again! However hard I'm trying, I'm not really getting things finished as fast as I wanted. Guess the pressure of the deadline I've also put on myself isn't helping much, but at least I'm able to get a few things done this weekend. Am also playing around with some ideas, and will just see how far I get finishing those as well.
Thanks. I took the opportuntity to shop for a new camera while I was there (I don't go into town and the big department stores often so I might as well kill two birds with one stone, as it were) so I can also take pictures of what I do get done, although the travel took longer than intended (it's the Sunday of a bank-holiday weekend. I should have expected that) so I'm hours behind in terms of time. Good luck! And here is Cressida (RML/SD10 Hybrid) in her (nearly finished) new dress: This started out as a toddler dress, the wings over the shouders were the collar on the original dress, which I used unaltered, the skirt, likewise, was the skirt of the toddler dress, which I cut a couple of inches shorter (from the top, so the ruffle wasn't affected) and re-gathgered onto the new bodice. The piping at neck and cuffs was unpicked from the original dress bodice so it could be reused on the doll dress. It still needs the fastenings up the back and the sleeve cuffs finished. The sleeves were meant to be full-length but I cut out the MSD length lower sleeves instead of the SD size....DOH!... so I'll have to cut the long lower-sleeves short (they're tucked inside the puffs for the photo's) and hand-hem them as cuffs for the puffs. Teddy
I've been enjoyng everyone's progreess. I really lieke Cressida's dress, Teddy. The piping is a lovely touch. Nice outfit ankhensepnamum. Nice casual outfit for Sven, wolfboy. The pilliness just means it's a fave sweater, ryuichi : iLove the bunny dress, keladry and your gal seems pleased. I'm afraid I'm out for a while. I was just diagnosed with carpel tunnel. But I'll get my sewing thrills vicariously through all of you!
It's still Sunday in some parts of the world, right? I'm runnung late, but here are the pics of my finished outfit. The t-shirt is a little large. Taz doesn't mind though. He thinks it's comfortable I'll skip the next round, but will definitely join the one after that. It's been a lot of fun!
Not as many as I'd hoped to get done. I decided that completely finishing some recycled fabric projects was a better use of my time yesterday than starting and failign to finis ye another of them, so Cressida's suit (made from an oild shirt I bought in the late 80's and wore to death) and Lotti'es play dress (more of the same shirt) both got the fastenings and trim added to finish them off: I'm particularly fond of this fabric as it was part of the bridesmaid outfit I wore for a friend's wedding, so it's nice to recycle the fabric in use as doll clothes as a momento of the occasion. Teddy
how lovely aww as time has dragged on, I now want to change my hoodie design into some sort of onesie... what is wrong with me?!? TT_TT
Technically thbis is a day late but I'm gign to include it anyway as I got caugt up n dolly-sewing today nad worked on this instead of the full-sized costume I should have been working on for next weekend: This is Nesta (another RML/SD10 hybrid) wearing a dress made from the remains of a shirt that GothicPixie passed on to me after she'd cut out a shirt for one of her resin lads: It isn't finished yet - I still need to sew the fastenings and finish sewing down the second edge of the bias-strip decorating the skirt - but wanted to try it on one of the girls to see how it looked. Teddy
batchculture, the shirt looks just right to me! Teddy, you've been really productive this round, wow! And I love the results. Oh, and anybody who's still working on stuff for this round, feel free to post more pictures here! (The deadline isn't THAT important. )
I'm so pleased for everyone for their finished pieces. They all look super awesome, really suiting the dolls you made them for! Sorry I never got round to updating my finished pieces with pictures D: I'm proudest of my sweater top, because of the way I hemmed the neck (and uh, needed to use glue - don't tell anybody ) And the hoody and Penny's leggings. I'm kinda proud of how I lined up the stripes pretty well. Penny: Pajamas - done, kinda (that top was a failure!) Sheer blouse - nope! Ruffly skirt - 50% done! Pair of sock leggings - done! Natalie: A sock hoody - done! Kilt - done! and some tights. - turned into leggings, but done! 5/7 isn't tooo bad
Amazing, Teddy I can't believe that you have 41 bjd. How doyou find the storage space for them all and the costs must be quite high for buying them all not to mention outfits and everything that goes with them. The highest previous counts who had the highest that I've heard of was 13 and 20 but you've seriously beaten their numbers. Congratulations on your many bjd .
