Contest The It's So Basic Sock Extravaganza

Aug 1, 2018

    1. Thank you very much ^^ it was actually a friend of mine who came up with that idea after seeing me struggle with getting the socks to match x)
I loved what you did with the zippers on the tracksuit! Really cool :D

    2. Congrats to the winners! And damn I did bad hahahhah, better luck next time :)

(Mine was the pastel pink hooded romper)

    3. Congrats everyone! :) It was fun to watch all the entries.

    4. Congrats to the winners! :). Entering was fun, I didn't get as involved last year.

    5. hehe that's right! :D
      we think alike ^^

@Snyblind I will sincerely miss those zipper thigh socks, but Alas, I can not wear them anymore. I was keeping those just out of love for them ;)

    6. Ahhh...they’re just armwarmers. XD cut the right length, sew a tube, hem the ends, slide them on. The straps were tight enough to hold them in place and I tucked them into the shirt at the arm pit so there were no visible holes.

Thanks! The secret is very very thin socks! The Deadpool socks fit her so perfectly, I didn’t have to add any seams. The Black Panther one had the design screen printed on both sides and it stretched out horribly when I slipped it on her, so I cut out the image are stitched it onto a thin black sock that fit her snugly and attached the socks to each other. Lack of seams in the torso and super thin socks with enough tightness to squeeze the inside one really cut down on bulk. Plus, Marley is SD size so that really helped too. I think it would too be bulky on MSD or smaller.

I really liked your track suit! I have at least one or two boys here who are envious!

      Thank you so much!

    7. Congratulations, winners!

I just had to vote for your costume, @dollyolly1! It was so beautiful, and exactly something I would love for my own dolls.

I was really impressed with your costume, too, @Masha! Wonderful color choices.

Everyone who entered should be very proud of themselves. Great work!

    8. My girl is still sitting in her sock bunny outfit. I'm lazy. :P

    9. Congrats to the winners! This was the first time I made an outfit out of socks to be honest lol I did pretty well, mine was #8 the cat skirt jumper. It was interesting working with socks.
I really enjoyed this contest and there were so many beautiful entries

    10. Congrats guys! Everyone did such amazing work. :love

    11. Congrats to the winners!! So deserving. My entry was way down the end at #63. It was the little black cat ear skater dress worn by my iplehouse fid Yur in grey skin. Although I didn't receive votes, I had so much fun making it and Yur has a cute new dress. Well done everybody!

    12. Congrats to the winners!

    13. Im surprised with the result, is really unexpected as someone told me (since it is my first time in doa contests). I did vote for a winner though (and thought about voting for other but decided on someone's else), so I guess is not like ridiculous surprising, but still is not obvious which does make things more fun.
      Congrats everyone, specially the winners!

    14. I
I liked that dress. It was number 4 in my top 5! Unfortunately there was only room for 3 votes.

    15. Mine was the Narae in the beret. (And floral coat and red dress)

There are so many ideas I am "borrowing" from the entries! Kitty cat skater dress, hooded jammies, sweater dress with cat hat, to name but a few. So much love for all of the entries! Plain old sock dress my patootie!

    16. Mine was #43, the crazy hybrid in the black dress. I actually had wanted to do something completely different, but when my first attempt failed, I went with what is in the entry. I think I will remake it a bit, make the bodice a bit longer, and use actual corset lacing up the back, instead of strips of pantyhose. I really enjoyed this contest though; making a handkerchief skirt from pantyhose actually worked out rather well, and I think I will do it again.

I was actually really freakin' disappointed with how dark the pictures looked on mobile. On my computer, and on my camera, they were much brighter, and easier to see, and I didn't notice until after the submission was in. Even turning the brightness all the way up on my phone wasn't enough, and so for anyone that had trouble seeing them, I'm sooooorrryyyyyy. :atremblin:atremblin:atremblin:...(

    17. Im just relieved I got a vote at least, and I appreciate it because there were so many amazing entries I was number 42 lol so many things went wrong a long the way but I decided to just keep going forward heh

Anyone who looks down on sock dresses needs to stuff their mouth with an old dirty pair lololol

such a difficult fabric to work with!!!

My favorites were 39 because I love the clean sewing and the beautiful color scheme so nice, like a dream

I also loved and voted for 54 to win because I love how simple but elegant it was, it did not look like a sock and I love the beret so much!!!!!! It looks so classic and expensive

entry 40 was also my vote because i love how everything meshed together and how beautiful it was all together in harmony

I can see why Masha won her entry looked like something from a fashion magazine :D:D

Congratulations to the winners, and everyone who participated deserves a pat on the back for all their patience in putting up with the damn sock and its tempermental ways of unraveling, warping, curling and just being a nuisance!:vein

    18. Mine was in entry 64. I just had fun making an outfit my boy, Raven, would usually wear for a casual day. This was the first time I've ever made doll clothes from socks too. It was pretty interesting.

And congratulations to the winners and everyone else who participated. There were a lot of really cool outfits.

    20. Seriously!!! I will never think of sock-dresses the same way again!!! :D

      ======

Great choices for the winners! So well-deserved! I'd probably never guess the origins of the fabric for either of those! What an amazing transformation--and skill in handling the material, and overall design!!! :thumbup

But everyone else-- it was so hard to limit the vote to just 3!!! I loved so many that I couldn't vote for! Just think that you all might have had a lot more votes if we could choose top 4 or 5 or 6, etc! You really all are so admirable!!! (I'm not a sewer, so believe me, I'm in AWE of all of you!!!) :abow:
