There are a few thing that get me not to like a doll. Some are mentioned above, but here is my list. Ginormous Breasts, I prefer smaller, or medium. To much expression, I love interesting faces, but some are just trying too hard. Thick bodies, and thighs, some dolls look great in their resin nude, but bad in clothing. (I'm fine with wide hips.) Block hands, the fingers are melted together instead of spread apart. Big heads, on small bodies. or small heads on big bodies. Sleeping Dolls, what am I supposed to do with it, it's like a corpse.
ooh i really don't like single jointed dolls and dolls with extremely smushy looking "baby lips". i do love dolls with big lips, but sometimes they over-render the natural texture/topography into something that looks like the doll is having a terrible allergic reaction. another (pretty rare) one i don't like is when the eye holes extend to where the nose lands, it's weird and unappealing to me. also a lot of dolls i find have a distinct overbite (something you tend to see with anime style dolls, idk) and in profile i just hate the look of it
Open mouths! I think a little part is fine and natural looking. But I don't think I've ever seen a doll with a fully open mouth that I liked. I especially dislike the "O" shaped ones or when their teeth show. Also super expressioned faces, I often think they're cute (with they're surprised or super happy faces) but I would never buy them. Maybe it's because I prefer neutral looking faces so the poses seem more natural.
- Really high-sitting breasts when they are very large, especially in more realistic sculpts (it looks better on anime-style dolls imo). IRL very large breasts just sag a little lower because of gravity even in a good bra, so it looks very unnatural to me. Although sculpting them lower would probably hinder mobility, now I think about it... - Underdefined lips. This is just a personal preference, but I like lips to have a more sharp edge (in the sculpt as well as in the faceup), and a lot of the younger-looking headsculpts have rather soft and under-emphasized lip borders
I don’t like “pointy” noses, they don’t look real to me and for me can spoil an otherwise lovely face. Not so keen on open mouths and teeth or “winking” dolls either, but that’s just my personal preference.
Big pouty bee-stung, smushed, too defined, or otherwise unnatural lips are a big turn-off for me. IDK, some just have a really weird shape? Like... no one has lips like that? I get that not everyone likes the 'natural' look and those sorts of dolls are supposed to be more stylized... but I guess it's a style I just don't personally like. Another thing that bugs me is incorrect muscle placement. I'm a medical anatomist, so those details may go over other people's heads, but I can't look at such dolls without thinking 'that's not where the deltoids attach' or 'did they just invent a brand new muscle to put here?'
I don't like big/long noses and there have been at least a few dolls that I passed up on just because I couldn't get over their nose. I've always felt the same way. It would be kind of cute to have a sleeping and non-sleeping head for the same character, but it wouldn't be worth it for me in the end.
I hate knife noses. You know, the ones that are so sharp and pointy from the profile view that you could cut veggies with them. Noticeably uneven eyes, sausage hands, and super pointy nipples are also pet peeves of mine. My doll should not be able to stretch clothing due to ridiculously sculpted nipples, imo. Oh, and elbow/knee joints that look rectangular when the limb is bent. I love good posers as much as the next gal, but I'm not willing to sacrifice smooth lines and nice aesthetics for improved posing.
Teeth. Don't like them, don't want to see them. Most often the expression that has teeth isn't a pleasant one and it makes the supposed smile look like the doll is in pain. >_< The acceptation of course is vampire styles and definitely unmistakable smiles. If the lips are slightly parted and I can see weird little teeth, it just changes my whole outlook Lol. (I'm looking at you Doll Leaves)
I don't think I ever want to do a faceup on a doll with an open mouth, even the little parting of lips that's really common now. I would love to get a vampire, but the idea of painting teeth makes me want to cringe and never touch my supplies again. Unsteady hands plus small teeth plus hard to remove acrylic to make them look like teeth? A bad combo if you ask me.
Thick lips/duck lips. Really not a fan of those... Open mouths (with or without teeth, either is a nope for me). Too strong bodies. They look good in nudity only so they are extremely picky for outfits imo.
This hits the nail on the head for me in regard to how I would describe it. It is strange how scuptors think that they look good. Thanks I feel exactly the same. I will not look at a sculpt closely if the mouth is open. The super expressioned faces can be actually scary to look at. They can be cute I agree but I would get bored of it quickly. This I have recently discovered is something I don't like. Front on it usually is ok as you don't always see it but from the side profile it bothers me. It is a shame as there was a sculpt I really liked expression wise but the nose turned me off completly.
So my latest frustrations: -legs that are just so long (think resinsoul’s 60cm body, dollshe hound) the bodies I’ve listed are ones I’ve had and loved, for what it’s worth. -boobs are beating a dead horse at this point here. I like any size as long as they look right naked. Twigling’s a, b and c busts are all represented in my collection. Iple’s small bust HID blew me away, but I have a large bust Eid/sid and they’re alright. Boobs designed to look good in clothes are great in clothes, but I need mine to look good naked too. -really skinny limbs: like not limbs that are thin but well-sculpted (like dc) but limbs that are just tubes. And they’re way more common in thinner dolls. I’m tiny. Like unhealthy skinny and my arms still have some kind of shape (but almost no muscle). -male sculpts with the under-pec joint. I like it on male sculpts I intend to keep male, but when I do MtF mods, breasts sit lower, and that makes my life harder. Loongsoul makes that easier. -sculpts with abs of steel, but also no musculature in their arms and legs. -the babyface on adult body (like some of peakswoods’ sd size) -massive hands. Loongsoul’s 73 cm body was perfect for a mod project, but goodness, those hands are just massive. I swapped her down to a pair of Twigling hands, and I think those are much better. -really orange tan. Like not warm tan with a bit Of an orange lean, but really orange, like DC was putting out for awhile. I’m such a huge fan of cool, more brown tans. Angell studio, supia, iple, Soom and FL all have great tan shades. -fantasy colours that are super limited. Soom garion’s le3 blue fullest release, soom jerome’s jet black le3 fullset release, etc. I love fantasy colours, and I’d actually buy firsthand from Soom if I could get those without having to drop 7 million dollars in a fullset that doesn’t quite align with the character I’d have that for.
The large chest size is the one that I’ve got on my list. Some of them are cartoonishly massive and I find them a bit too much. I’m sure it’s what some people want, but it’s not my cup of tea. I’m also not into the super defined nether regions on sculpts. I’m just not really sure why it’s necessary considering that normally most people dress their dolls anyway. Again, just not my cup of tea.
Big boobies are the biggest turn off for me too. They can ruin an otherwise perfect doll for me. I might consider breasts that are on the larger side, but only if they also look natural in shape, not like they are pumped round with implants and deny gravity all over. Another thing that bugs me is the mobility type thigh. It's all over useless for my needs that is mostly the doll standing or sitting in simple poses. It just creates an annoying slit on the thigh. I like that many companies allow to choose whether customers want it or not though. Third thing is also already mentioned duck lips/unnaturally plump lips. It's just not my style and I don't know why I don't like them, I just don't.
Lol, so many replies remind me of my mom remembering her time in art school. She always talked about the sculpting teacher who would have to tell the male students to actually look at the female model's chests or at least get a girlfriend. He didn't want to see sculptures with two round balls glued to the chest region. Unfortunately some of these doll artists need the same lecture. I do admit it is one off my bigger turn offs too!
These have been so fun to read! A weirder one, but I hate seeing any trace of ribs or other signs of being painfully thin >>
a lack of skintone diversity... I have enough pale dolls, I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a doll that I'll probably want to dye to a different color.
Agh I can't stand those big fake boobs I'm also not a fan of boy dolls that have absolutely no lips and uhhh...not manly bodies if that makes sense?
Muscular bodies....and baby face. Hate that one the most. Skintone diversity for sure, also wish there were more race diversity and well in the sculpts. Speaking of sculpts, I would like to see more body diversity as well! Not just "thicc thighs", I would love to have a genuinely overweight doll! Eyes spaced too far apart, or too large for the face sculpt.
This thread is hilarious to read through! I agree with a lot of the things mentioned in the post and I do hope that some of you become doll artists who cater to our needs That said, my biggest turn off would be obvious joints For example, when there is a gap between the joint and the limb it's attached to (most notably, when the hip joint does not follow the hip line and it looks like the upper torso and the bottom torso don't match). I see this in so many popular doll companies which is why I lean more towards artist dolls
I don't like big breasts either. Just personal preference. I feel maybe that it over sexualises them? I would also be reluctant to order a doll in tan due to the seam lines. Surely resin can be mixed well enough that it can be sanded without revealing an uneven colour? These aren't cheap play dolls, they shouldn't have seams.
I thought of something else I'm not always keen on - sad faces. I don't want my dolls to look permanently depressed!
Mine is, personally, square faces. Those perpetually pouty droopy faces with nonexistent chins and big, squared cheeks. Like, Kikipop shaped faces. Which is weird because I like Kikipops themselves, just less so their face shapes on BJDs - especially BJDs with more mature bodies. It just doesn't look right. I also get kinda put off when a doll is too thin and delicate. I worry I'd accidentally snap one of those fragile little arms! Like a lot of Doll Chateau dolls are, for example. Maybe because my first two dolls were ABS and vinyl, all the resin dolls I've gotten afterwards seem so fragile in comparison ...
Yes it can, but that's not the problem. It has to do with how changing the texture of the surface changes how it reflects and absorbs light. In order to get the color to match again, you have to match the texture, which isn't always feasible. This of course doesn't relate to some of the old tan dolls whose color really was only in the outermost layers, or so I've heard. I don't think any company still makes them that way.
I know I already posted about something similar, but it's become a bigger issue now that I'm back to looking at male dolls... When the stylization on one half of the face doesn't match the other. Like you'd have these gorgeous semi-realistic eyes and nose bridges and then it gets down towards the jaw and... it's... non-existent. Like teeny tiny narrow little jaw and tiny mouth to match. My theory is that they're sculpted that way so that the head looks less bobble-headed on the tiny, narrow neck that company has going for their male bodies, but it's just... so unattractive! Just keep the stylization the same - either more stylized eyes and brows/nose to match the jaw and neck, or just nut up and give your male body a thicker neck. It doesn't have to be Conan the Barbarian thick, just not a chicken neck. No matter how "feminine" your dude is supposed to be, testosterone is still a thing and even pretty boys in anime have proportional necks if they're supposed to look like proportional adults.
I agree with everyone that's mentioned the lips. I especially do not like when they have these lines coming down the peaks of the upper lip. It just looks so weird to me.
I actually don't care for too small/nearly invisible noses! I don't like when faces are stylized with only a little peak for a nose. I love a good nose!!
Faceups... I do not like the permanent sad/worried eyebrows on every doll I see. Same with angry brows. I guess I just prefer neutral faceups haha.
I'm not a fan of teeth on dolls. I can sort of give vampire fangs a pass if they're not too large or obvious, but even then I find them hard to love. I'm also not a fan of half-opened or sleeping eyes, I feel like I get more expression and versatility if the eyes are opened more. Also, hands without details. I love the delicate hands on dolls, but when they have no details like nails or are just completely straight/all together instead of having some apart it makes me sad.
For some kind of reason, I have a strong dislike for "anime" faces and baby faces. I thought I hated bobbleheads, but I guess that, while I wouldn't like one, I can understand the appeal? And huge breasts, especially if they look like cut-off spheres. There are tons of muscles and fat tissues in breasts, it's never perfectly round! So it bother me a lot.
Anime face-sculpts. Anime faces look good in 2D form, but they look super generic in 3D form. Incorrect anatomy. No, that’s not how digitigrade/ungulate legs work. (I’m partial to fantasy dolls, as you can tell, haha). Open mouths/exposed teeth/exaggerated expressions get a hard pass from me. To add to that last part: buck teeth in general. Rabbits are my favorite animal and most every rabbit doll (anthro or otherwise) has comically huge buck teeth. Real rabbits’ teeth aren’t exposed like that. Idk, I just don’t find it cute. Centaur dolls with the horse half too large/small proportionally for the human half. Not a huge fan of the pear-shaped body trend. Just not my thing. When the arms are stick thin but then the legs are suuuper thick. (I see this a lot in the pear-shaped bodies). Resin with no tooth. Otherwise, it’s too plastic-y feeling for me.
Overly large hands. The older SoulDoll Zenith boy body had remarkable Yaoi Hand Syndrome going on. Uncommon sizing is also enough to put me off track. I used to have Iplehouse EIDs and a LoongSoul 75cm on my wishlist until I realized it's a complete PITA to dress them! Even the mature-style 40cms from Iplehouse and Luts are difficult to find reasonably scale clothing for. I just don't want to fuss...
My biggest turn-off is human dolls. Well, I'm exaggerating, I just find them boring because I'm an anthro dolls fan. But the thing I really don't like is child-like body and child-like dolls in general. I feel wired about them, and I find childish proportions and bodies unattractive or even ugly. And unrealistic balloon-styled boobs. Like... It looks strange, unrealistic and overly sexualised.
White skintones... the porcelain, ghostly, flat white tone. I also don't like super emaciated dolls, dolls with super tiny waists and super full chests/hips, and anthros. There's also the fact that I adore Dust of Dolls Roze Heln and Cham Byol, but I think that those extra ball joints in their necks are awful looking I have Roze Heln on my wishlist but I'd still debate buying her solely because of how much I dislike that part of her design.
The lack of thinner heads for adult female dolls, like think of resin soul Lian, I need more of those faces instead of the more rounded full cheeked look. Boring torsos. I like stomach details, my first BJD had a ton of stomach detailing and he was so fun to have shirtless. (warning extreme weirdness ahead) half @$$ed doll dongs, like if you must make these dolls anatomically correct for whatever reason OWN IT like Dollchateau has those awesome little jointed ones, and that one company who'd name I can't remember had the little magnet ones. My poor lil dollfamily H guy has a barely formed tik tac and I'm just like you poor boy. I don't know why this bothers me so much, my dolls are almost always clothed anyway and I don't take sexualized pics or anything like I've seen some people do (no judgment) it's just these companies made the bizarre choice to make these dolls fully correct in those areas so ether do it right or don't do it at all lol.
The two hard "turn offs" for me are "squished" joints - the ones that look like the ball was to large and got showed in to a socket that is to small for it. And the "coconut boobs" - when the breasts are clearly just two half circles that where added to a flat chest and are not even blended in well - that is just plain lazy. The rest is just styles - I can admire all kinds of dolls I can't own all of them thou, and the sculpts I like so much I want to personally own them is a matter of "likes" rather than "dislikes" for me - they have to have attributes that I find extremely appealing, not just "nice" or "pretty" and lots of them.
I also don’t care for big boobs on dolls either. I also can’t stand the really pointy, skinny, harsh noses I see on so many dolls. My first BJD (a KDF Ani) has this weird pointy upturned nose that I didn’t notice in pictures when ordering her. When I got her, I was SO bummed about her weird pointy pig-like nose. It looks so strange from the side, that my family members even commented on how weird it looked. I ended up ordering a new head because of it. It’s the reason why I’m so hesitant to order a doll unless I can see side view pictures of its face. A nose can make or break a sculpt, to me.
I don't like eyebrows that are too short or just look like a blob, it’s painful to look at. And buck teeth, I really want a realpuki but the latest one has so big teeth I couldn’t bring myself to buy one - and normally I have nothing against dolls with teeth showing. And face sculpts that look angry or sad - no matter how good the face up is.
- Giant balloon boobs. They'd look fine on doll wearing a corset but what about when she's wearing literally anything else? I don't mind bigger boobs otherwise, it's just that "pressed together" kind that really bothers me. (see for example Senior Delf Body GIRL Type 3 & 4 - meanwhile Type 2 is fine in my eyes despite her too having big boobies) - Mature bodied dolls with baby face, goes for both genders, nothing looks dumber than doll with huge breasts or bodybuilder body and then it has one of those kawaii uguu faces to ruin it all. - Ugly/weird expressions. For example Angel of Dreams' HuiXiang startled me when I saw her, she doesn't look like a happy mother who just gave birth to a baby instead she's Titan from Attack on Titan about to eat that baby! It's weird since their other dolls look perfectly fine to me. :/ This includes all those yawning or bawling dolls too, the only exception I can handle are dolls with tongues, I actually kind of like them? Especially if they have options for different tongues/tooth parts you can swap. - Super muscular male bodies. Okay I don't mind little bit muscles but most sculpts are far overdone on that department, I don't want a doll who only eats protein bars and lives in gym, I just want a normal guy with normal body. - And on topic of bodies, super skinny ones that have each and every rib bone clearly visible are turn off too D: Please, eat a sandwich you poor starving doll! - Ugly belly buttons. Most dolls just have a little indent poked there but some have more detailed ones and I've never seen a pretty one. - Ugly collarbones. I can't explain this one but some dolls have such ugly collarbones that I can't look at them - Vampire teeth and buck teeth. I can handle bit of normal kind of teeth showing, it can even be kind of cute, but those ugly rabbit kind of teeth some dolls have or vampire teeth? No thanks. Or maybe vampire is okay again if it's one of those dolls where you have optional mouth pieces, but I wouldn't want a doll that comes with the vampire teeth as their only option. - Really awful preview images. Some companies have such bad pictures to present their dolls and you think the doll is ugly but then you see someone post a picture of the same doll and they're actually rather gorgeous? I get that it's already expensive to produce these dolls so paying for professional to take the preview pictures might be out of question but really, it would sell so much better if it was possible to see the doll better. - Also maybe a bit odd one but company websites that still use Flash. I haven't even had that piece of shit installed for years, nobody should have it installed at this point, please update your site to work without it! This turned a lot longer than I intended but I guess I'm just really picky about everything. ^^;
For the most part my big turn-offs are realistic teeth, big/really pointy noses, eyes that are way too big. I know the last one is pretty subjective, but what I mean buy it is eyes that just don't suit the face. I've seen faces the were pretty realistic but then for some reason the eyes were way out of proportion. Also I don't really like child like dolls (mature tinies for the win haha)
My biggest turn off is eyes that are too big. I notice many bjds have larger eyes than I’d like, and while I don’t think they’re ugly, theyre just not what I want for my characters. Sometimes there’s a nice sculpt ruined for me by having the eyes be too long or too wide..
I am repelled by unrealistic body proportions. Breasts that look like muffins slapped on the thin chest, unnaturally long calves (pain of many dolls), ridiculously large male spider hands (I look at you, Venitu).
My biggest pet peeve is that there are so many realistic looking boy heads with all different expressions but girls are either pouty or vampy. Why can't I find a mature girl next door smile?
Rib cage looking joints? Like older female bodies where the torso joints look like a rib cage because of the way they are cut. Specifically the Luts SDF type 1 body. Its so uncomfortable to look at!
I am with everyone who said - big balloon boobs. I don't mind the large breasts, but the really round fake ones look silly. There is someone on Etsy who shows her necklaces on a doll like this. The necklaces would look so much better on a doll with an attractive cleavage! I do like large eyes, but some dolls have what appears to be gaps in the lower outside edges of their eyes that makes them look like something is wrong with the muscles in their eyes. It might be a product of their face-up? I also don't like face-ups that put so much dark around the eyes that they look like they have 2 black eyes. (I think some of this could be due to the lighting in the photograph but it would cause me to reconsider that face-up. One more thing - for me, personally, I don't like parts to a doll (except elf ears) that can't be removed or exchanged that are not human. that being said, I do like seeing pictures of other people's dolls that have these. I just wouldn't purchase one unless it came with extra feet/legs/head etc. that were normal human. I know! It's almost like they've put the wrong hands and feet on the doll!
I'm sure I posted in this thread a long time ago. I can't recall what I might've wrote, and don't really care to look back and check. So—more recently I've developed some gripes while searching for just the right heads for my OCs that I feel fits in this thread: Disproportionate head size. I had my main guy that went through a few different heads with this issue before I found the perfect one (on a whim, no less). Two of the three were too small, while the other was massive. The heads on their own were gorgeous, and on a properly proportionate body they'd be fine, but they just didn't work for that boy because of their size. A list of some of my other ones: round, young, anime-influenced female faces that are supposedly mature. Where are all the longer, narrower eyed beauties with chiseled cheekbones and elegant features?? Most of the time I just find these round faced, teenage looking girl sculpts that just don't work for me at all. Abnormally sized cleavage, especially of the helium balloon variety. I have one girl that I picked up early on with balloon boobs (that I might do some surgery on in order to make them look more natural eventually), but kind of actively avoid getting bodies that have such exaggerated features as these. I'm especially bothered by over-sized squishy bosoms, which makes a majority of vinyl gals a huge turnoff for me. Boy with tictacs between their legs. Might be one of the reasons I don't like child-like dolls, but really—I like the manbits to look just like that, manbits. It's strange and a bit off-putting to discover some horribly under-developed, misshapen lump existing between their legs where a proper penis should be. (An aside for the above: I also much prefer a boy body with moveable/interchangeable manbits. Stationary ones kind of irk me, but I can tolerate boy bodies that have them.) chubby cheeks, round faces, and large eyes. Especially when there's a lack of a chin, and especially when the face is very toddler/child-like (whether it's a child-like doll or a mature one). There are some sculpts out there that looked like they had mumps because of how puffy the cheeks were. I speed past these when doing head/doll hunting because they freak me out. Starved skinny bodies. I'm fine with the likes of Doll Chateau, Dream Valley, etc, but Popovy and the like? Unless they're stylized...no. Just—no. Soft faced bishie boys. As I've become more and more interested in veering towards realistic and mature bjds in general, I've been dismayed by the majority of male sculpts out there being very smooth and bishie-like in appearance. Noses are too thin and pointy, hardly any cheek definition, and looking like they just popped out of an anime. I can appreciate them in others' collections, of course (that applies to most of what's listed above), but they don't work for my OCs. The Hillbilly chin. Or the lack of a neck-to-chin ratio when seen from a side profile. A majority of older sculpts suffer from this, and I've reshelled OCs/character bjds because of this. It looks so weird and unnatural, especially when you have a couple and one has realistic chin-neck proportions while the other doesn't.
Recently I've been getting more picky and I'm starting to notice all kinds of features that I HATE in dolls -Single joints in the arms or legs. Even if I don't plan on any particularly tricky poses, the articulation is part of the fun. I just can't stand a doll that isn't sufficiently articulated. -This is gonna seem stupid picky, but dolls that don't have a "channel" down the top of the leg from the hip to the thigh. I believe Iplehouse does this on some of their sculpts? MYOU as well. I think it's supposed to make joints more seamless but for some reason its really aesthetically unappealing to me, and in my experience the doll's posing suffers from it too. -Young sculpts that look too "jowly" or chubby-cheeked. To me ALM doll and Gem of Doll tend to have this problem -Bulky, ungainly animal parts. Dream Valley is one of my favorite companies but it releases a LOT of dolls with huge, heavy, awkward fantasy features. I'm not huge on anthro dolls, period, but especially not when they're so huge and conspicuous. -Jointed/extra peens. Just. What's the damn point. I don't need an unstable ween roaming around creating unpleasant bulges in pants. The only saving grace is that I can immediately remove them and throw them in the box and never have to worry about them again. -Half-lidded or almond shaped eyes that are too large. Some dolls have eyes that are just way too long from corner to corner, and as a result seem too close together or too far apart. Sometimes both at the same time. It's hard to explain, but I've noticed a lot of "classic" old dolls have eyes like this. -Dolls with sculpted veins anywhere. Ew!!! Pretty sure my biggest turn-off is still just bland, expressionless, boringly perfect model faces, though.
I've found several companies that have lovely mature women bodies with faces that look very childlike. If a doll's body has curves, she should not have toddler cheeks. I think they're meant to look sweet, but I find it unappealing. This wasn't always the case for me, but single jointed bodies. Some of my most loved dolls have them, but I find their limits hard to forgive.
I don't like balloon boobs but I guess that wouldn't totally turn me off something (boob mod seems doable?). But like, I still don't want it LOL. I'm actually really bothered by narrow shoulders especially on girl bodies. I can't fix that! For faces, I get bothered by some chin sculpts but there's not just one thing so its hard to pin down what actually bothers me.
tbh im here on the unrealistic balloon boob-hating bandwagon. Just hazarding a guess that boobs are flexi so the way natural braless boobs rest may not fit as nicely into corsets/cleavage tops. But with clothes on everything is hidden. So from a sculptor's standpoint i can see why it's easier to just slap 2 halves of a globe onto a chest, ensure the cleavage is good and call it a day. I got so hung up on this that the ONLY femme body I liked was Granado's nuevo. the feet on that body are tiny but it's easier to hide those in shoes than to feel sad for my daughter having sad boobs. I just want her to be happy. also this is not so much a peeve, more like a trigger for me personally: realistic baby sculpts. it scares me a little, I don't know why. it's not the realism though, grown sculpts do not trigger the uneasiness.
Oh man, I noticed that most people have a general turn off for exaggerated proportions, especially for heads or...other bits I kind of have that too but as time goes by it bothers me less and less. I think it all comes down to the Uncanny Valley - check out some articles about it, its super interesting! Me too! I figured I wasn't alone in this, but I've been hesitant to talk about it. Often while shopping for non BJD dolls or doll clothes I've seen Reborn and other "lifelike" baby dolls and just...theres something about them that are on the verge of triggering. No hate on people that like or collect them---all hobbies are great! I just can't get over it either... I personally collect more cartoony dolls, so dolls that have veins and other realistic details don't appeal to me to begin with. I LOVE some of the Doll Chateau insect dolls like the spider one, but I have arachnaphobia so I can never own one heh
I don’t mind big breasts (except those baloon like). I also don’t like too small breasts. It makes the doll very child like. Also I don’t like big proportions. I don’t mind chubby dolls but I don’t like thick ankles and wrists. I also don’t generally like facial expressions. Open mouth like Angelphilia. Teeth showing. Lastly I wouldn’t buy a doll with molded scars or other “imperfections”. I very much liked one doll, facewise it was a perfect representation of what I needed. Bum, scar across one eye. And the eye was even a bit more closed than the other. You guys who mind the thing in trousers. It reminded me of my sister. When I was a child and got Ken, she immediately undressed him and checked his bottom parts.
cantaloupe boobies are a dislike of mine as sell. Cartoon hands on an otherwise nice body are my biggest peeve though.
