Contest Surprise Cosplay Contest!

This sounds like so much fun. I'm suddenly regretting never having cosplayed an angel before lol

 

This one sounds fun! I don't have any dolls with bodies, so the sock outfit contest was out... But I have had to throw together last minute cosplays for kids at AI, so hopefully I can find something

 

My time to shine has come. I am queen of last minute cosplay lol

I have ideas for this!!! But I allready entered one of the other contests.

 

Sad I won't be able to Join.. I expect my doll to arrive on November :'(

Just to make 200% sure - there is NO doll involved in this contest, right? (exept prizes)

Aaaaand....this is one of those times when the fact that I almost obsessively clean my house to de-clutter on a regular basis comes back to bite me.

However! I think I might have an idea, if I can get it to work!!

 

oh this is a fun one.. i'm going through my head what i have at home i might be able to use :P see if i can think of an idea....just so i understood the rules right if i had say a dress from a cosplay i did years ago for a non angel character but would work super well as part of this cosplay could i use that... if not could a none cosplay dress i have hanging in my closed be allowed?

An idea came to me, and I'm starting today. I just keep laughing and thinking this might be crazy enough to work!

 

So I was going to sit this one out, but I've had an idea and it's utterly ridiculous but it might just work.

Does using anything we already own include clothes? If I was actually making this outfit for an event I would use a tee or dress as a base and sew/ stick the costume on top, but I could probably manage without if need be.

And if we can use existing clothes, can they show as part of the costume or should they be covered up by new work?

As long as you already own it, anything goes! If you had a ready-made angel costume that you had worn before, you could even use that! (we're hoping to see some serious creativity and interesting ideas, so a ready-made angel costume might not be quite as fun or exciting, but it would still be allowed!)

ETA - and having said I wasn't going to do this I now have half a costume! One remaining quarter I know exactly what I'm going to do but I'll need a bit of crafting time at the weekend and the last part has me turning all my craft supplies upside down saying "I know I have X. I remember buying it then not using it a few years ago. It must be in a box somewhere..."

 

Is light photoediting allowed?
Say, touching up blemishes or erasing visible straps?

Is face paint or makeup allowed on face, neck or arms? It is for complimenting the costume and not being use to cover nudity, such as body paint.

@KohakuDragonRose The contest is meant to be about making a costume -- normal makeup (like foundation, eyeshadow, blush, lipstick, nail polish, etc) would be OK, but no full-on face or body paint please.

And we are still waiting for the form to be finalized, so please be patient The contest is technically 'open' now - as in people can start preparing their materials, making the costumes, and taking photos now. As long as you have your entry and photographs ready, you can fill out the form it as soon as it goes live.

 

I finished mine! And took photos...and now I'm afraid I might have to redo them after putting everything back where it belongs and damaging something in the process of taking it apart....in the first post it says "photo" as in singular, so I narrowed it down to the best one...but then:

So my question is: How many photos are we supposed to take and what specifically do we need to show in them? Mine is a style shot...

@CloakedSchemer Three similar photos would be fine! This is a slightly more laid-back contest, so there aren't as many specifications for people to follow. You can also include only one photo if you would prefer.

I'm having flashbacks to the tinfoil and tape angel armor I made for my doll all those years ago for a contest on here...

 

Is the submission link going to be activated soon? Living in a different time zone means I need to submit this asap or run the risk of being at work when the deadline hits.

 

I'm also a little worried about the link not being up. I'm in the same timezone as the deadlines, but being the weekend, I don't have as much time to be online as usual. My photos are done, but I don't want to miss out on posting!

@AirimirOfGondor Do you know when the link will be ready? If it will be much longer, is there any chance we could get the deadline extended by a day or so to make sure everybody gets a chance to submit their work? Thanks!

 

I will be updating the first post with submission information now.
I was hoping a form would get worked out in time, but I don't have the ability to make them myself, so we'll have to do it differently.

And yes, we will add a few days to the submission acceptance so everyone can get it in on time.

I assume that our photos uploaded to the host should be anonymous (ie set to private or uploaded to a new throwaway account) so they don't show up identifiably in our normal accounts while the contest is ongoing. Should that be made clear in the first post?

If there are any issues with an entry, a mod will get in touch in your submission thread. Otherwise we likely will not respond.

If your entry randomly disappears though, that will be when we move it to a temporary organizing area for voting prep.

 

I dont know if i will join cause i dont think i have enough recycled material and 2 days would not be enough to get more (since it needs to be recycled), but in case I have a last minute saving idea I need to ask... Is it ok for the model to be a child? I know some forums have no child pic rule and I was thinking about using my lil sis as a model.

DoA doesn't have any specific rules about it (just the general sort of getting permission from photo subjects before you post them), but if your sister is underage, I would say to be on the safe side you can blur her face in your photos if you would like to go that route.

 

I changed the concept and decided to go with my big sis as a model instead, childs are also unstable so we never know how willing they will feel when the costume is ready (also the costume is kind fragile so its better like this)

 

Tomorrow is the last day for entries! I'm looking for people to make it just in time (as is befitting of a contest like this!)!

 

I dont know if i will be able to join cause i overslept and my sister/model will be out all day, so it will have to be a really last minute entry if it works... I will try my best to join!

The entries are so cool and funny, this is probably the one I had fun the most!

 

I am loving these entries!! Even with so few entries, I’m having a hard time choosing my top three. There are some very creative ideas here, every single one stands out in its own way. I feel like the voting results are going to be very close on this one.

 

I have to say, even when we come up with a last-minute contest like this, the members pull through and put together great work! I love them all!!

 

Life kept me from entering any of the contests this year, but I've been watching all of them when I've had the chance to peek in and I wanted to say all of these last minute cosplays are great. Some of you really blew my mind, one of you made me laugh out loud, and all of you made me smile.
