Souldoll Vito (50cm) Discussion - Part 4

My Azreal skull head arrived in the mail today! I bought him from a fellow DoA member and OMG! he's gorgeous. I had him sent to my work address as nobody would've been home to get the package. Naturally, I needed to open the box right away. Even my co-workers said he looked really cool. It'll be a while before I can afford to buy him his body or get him his face-up, but I'm thrilled to pieces with how he looks as just a blank head.

Congrats! I love my Azrael Skull head! Speaking off, according to his faceup artist I have another six months of wait ahead till she estimates him to be done - thanks god I've grown immune to waiting

 

6 months? Wow. That's a wicked long time for a face-up.

The skull head belongs to Lord Ra-Sui, God of Decay & Guardian of Souls. I love the details of the head. they're all kinds of amazing. I'm looking forward to getting his head painted even if that will be a while (I have 2 other dolls that require painting ahead of him and since I can't paint them myself...)

 

Technically at the end we'll be at twelve months - she already has him since October last year. I'm cool with it tho she doesn't usually accept commissions and a faceup from her has been on my list since I started this hobby

 

You have far more patience than I do. I don't think I could wait that long for a face-up. I hope he comes together just as you envision him.

 

I KNOW I couldn't wait that long for a face-up. That's why I do many of my own. They're not perfect, but at least all I have to wait for is a sunny day.

 

I wish I was able to do my own. However, I suffer from extreme nitpickiness and a strong desire for perfection that, when combined with my face-blindness, is just asking for massive frustration on my part since I can't actually see a face as a whole object in order to paint it. Being face-blind is likely why I almost never wear any make-up aside from lipstick (which is more to keep me from biting my lips than actually getting fancy *snorts*).

 

I suck at doing my own sadly and just like Iron_Dog, I yearn for perfection :lol. But yeah, I guess my longest wait for a faceup was 1 1/2 years? As said, desensitized xD

 

Wow. A year and a half? I am awed that you have the patience for that kind of waiting. I find it torture to wait 6 months just to get a doll never mind actually have it at some point (more or less) and wait that long for a face-up to be completed.

Then again, I think I've seen you in the Dollshe thread and it is more or less assumed to be waiting just this side of eternity for dolls to finally make it home so.....

 

Don't remind me, a year to get my first Dollshe Fashion guy honestly after that everything feels fast xD

 

*winces* Yeah, the Dollshe wait seems pretty brutal. I'm hopeful my order of a Pure body will be close(ish) to what was stated (2-3 months).

I was quite pleased with the timing of my SD order. They pretty much delivered when they said they would and that included a gorgeous face-up. The layaway was super easy as well.

I'm trying to appeal to my reasonable self (that seems to wander off whenever dolls are added to a discussion) with regards to my Vito purchase later this year. Doll-self says do a layaway for Eilam (Rail) AND the Vito body I need for Ra-Sui at the same time. Reasonable-self cringes at the cash outlay of a full doll with face-up + body and the possible evil Customs fees a package like that could wallop me for. Doll-self says it makes better planning to get them both at the same time as by the time Eilam is ready to ship, I'd probably be placing the order for Ra-Sui's body anyway. I'm a little worried that doll-self seems more reasonable than reasonable-self.

 

I'm also a nitpicker and a perfectionist. That's why I do most of my face-ups 3 or 4 times before I'm even semi-happy with them. I finally bought magnifying glasses to help me see what I'm doing. They'll have to do until it's time for cataract surgery.

I could never wait a year for a doll. My latest doll came in 24 business days, which was sheer bliss. I'll wait as long as 2 months for a doll. After that, you don't want to be anywhere near me. I can't remember exactly how long my Jin took to arrive, but I'm pretty certain it was at the upper limit of my tolerance for waiting.

 

I'm STILL waiting on a doll I put a down payment on back in mid-October of 2016, so it's been a smidge over 6 month for him. I'd ordered a DZ a few years back when they were waaaaay behind and didn't see my guy (that I paid for in full) for about 8 months. Those 2 were the longest waits though that I can recall. That's one of the things I love about buying 2nd hand. Wait times are drastically shorter than ordering brand new.

I'm also trying not to browse the MP as if I were to see a NY Vito body for a decent price, I'd be wickedly tempted to buy it but can't due to lack of funds and I'd probably just be disappointed that I'd teased myself with the possibility of putting Ra-Sui together sooner rather than later.

@greeneyed-soul - I no longer have a JID for comparison, but here is Vito Jin with FID Miho and Raccoon Mika. I think in terms of head size, a JID girl might look better with Vito.

Hello everyone! I just recently got my sandy brown Edmund in the mail last week. He arrived a lot sooner than I was expecting, judging from the waiting list. Got his proper wig and eyes in the mail yesterday, which he looks terribly cute with. Just sent his head out to be painted--really hoping he'll be home when my friend comes up to town in June/July. Planning on turning him into Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach since I'm such a terrible nerd. Been looking up tutorials on how to make a hakama..

@larva-zax Thanks! I was a little unsure about him at first, but once I got his proper wig cut and styled he looked perfect. I can't wait to see him when he's painted! So dang psyched! I'm also excited to do some clothes shopping for him too. For once, my taste in mens' casual clothing won't be entirely OOC for one of my male dolls.

 

I'm looking forward to seeing you transform him into Ichigo (big bleach fan here). I've only got 4 boys (2 SD, 2 MSD) who do the modern clothes thing and oddly enough, they're the ones with the least amount of outfits. I think it's because I'm never quite satisfied with the look of what I sew for them as far as jeans and shirts go.

 

can I ask about sandy and how brown/tan is actually is? it always seems a bit washed out in pics but that could just be pics. Does anyone happen to have any kind of comparison to other tans? cheers.

 

@Iron_Dog Hopefully I won't disappoint! xD I imagine if I can at least get myself to successfully make his hakama, then it'll be smooth sailing from there. Pants are always such a challenge. xD;;
Pretty much all of my dolls dress in modern clothes, but the boys I currently have usually stick to more toned down styles and colors, which I find very difficult to be happy with since I love BRIGHT colors and cool fashions. P:

@purple_monkfish Sandy brown isn't actually all that dark in person. It's spot on for what I wanted, but it's definitely on the pale side for people that might want something more on the darker brown side. It is definitely sandy brown. I'm at work right now so I can't take nicer lit pictures, but I have 2 pictures of my boy sitting around some of my other brown dolls.

The sandy brown looks really light compared to other tan dolls. I think if I didn't know he was sandy brown, I'd have assumed he was NY.

 

yeah it's a nice tone but not nearly tan enough for my needs. Neither is their brown tone, it's kinda greyish by the looks. Nice colour, but not what I need.
So I think that confirms that my better option is NS and a quicky wee dye bath.
No sense paying the extra if i'll have to tan it up more anyway.

Tan is such a variable in this hobby. I have 3 tan boys from 2 companies and despite 2 of them being from the same company (AoD), the tan of one boy's body is ever so slightly different from the other doll and head in tan (I got those at the same time while the tan body is likely a different, unknown, vintage). I like tan dolls but I also like them to be more tan than what SD seems to be producing. That's probably a good thing for me as it's less tempting to me. Thankfully, they also severely limit the grey/coloured resin they do otherwise I'd be in very serious trouble as I have a wicked weakness for grey and coloured resin.

 

Has anyone customised a Freya doll? I've just put my down payment on her and I can't find any pictures on custom faceups!

 

Guys! I was at Doll North this weekend past and I brought Ra-Sui (Azareal skull head) to see if there were any eyes available that spoke to me for him. There was somebody there with a fully painted version! The face-up was all kinds of amazing and I wish I'd brought my camera to take a pic of the two of them together (totally forgetting at the time that I have a camera on my phone *head desk*). The lady with the painted version was pretty excited to see my guy even if he is just a head and unpainted right now and took a pic of them together. I'm not sure if she's part of my local doll group but that would be freaky cool if she was.

She was also kind enough to let me stand Rhas-Khan (ID51) next to her boy so I could see in real life what they looked like together (Rhas-Khan's partner is Eilam, the Rail sculpt). I'm thrilled with how they looked together as far as body size/proportion and I'm even more excited to get Eilam home now (as soon as my doll funds recover *sigh*).

 

Oh god you must have seen Salem Sisterhood's Azrael @Iron_Dog! He is frikking fantastic! (albeit his face was modded beforehand for the skull part to be more pronounced). Seeing him always makes me long for my poor Azrael

souldoll summer event and New Vito boys!! I want Yoongi as the free gift head, but also want the gift dress , while I only need a vito doll body for last year summer gift head sean. I wonder if I order 2 separate vito doll body in different order time, will I able to get gift dress for one order, and the gift head for the other doll body.

 

I've been waiting for the summer event announcement as I can FINALLY buy Eilam now that I've found (and bought) his husband, Rhas-Khan (he's a Soom ID51 Gluino). I'm going to use the 7% discount as the CAN$ sucks hard and any little savings is made of awesome to my wallet. It's still going to be a good chunk of money though *sigh*. $470US (full doll+default face-up) works out to roughly $615CAN before shipping. With the 7% off, it's $437.10US/$570CAN and that combined with shipping will pretty much wipe me out on dolly savings again. I'll probably wait until closer to the end of the event to order though as I have several other dolls that need face-ups and I'd like to get them finished ASAP.

I had thought about getting Ra-Sui his body at the same time, which would qualify me for 10% discount but my total would be just over $900CAN before shipping (my total order with shipping would likely be over $1000CAN *winces*) and my wallet can't take the strain. I so need a money tree growing on my balcony.

 

sad to see them discontinuing Haim and Sharicks. Haim's nose I still find fantastically characterful.

 

yeahhh- finally they release a vito girls body with small bust. Suggested this to them when the first vito girl was released - to me it looks fab so far

A small chest is a step in the right direction, but before I buy another Vito girl I need a small butt, too. I wonder why they're offering two human versions? The only difference I can see is the makeup and different outfits, but version 1 doesn't have the clothing option while version 2 has the option for human and animal versions.

 

I think their human version one is their version of a basic. Kinda like Fairyland offers a fullset and a basic of all their releases. It's just the body with the option of adding makeup. I guess it's nice they show her in a different outfit so you can see a different way to style her, but I don't see where you can buy that outfit. I don't particularly care for that outfit though so I didn't search too hard for it. The human version 2 is part of the fairy tale series and is a fullset and has the options of adding human clothes and the animal clothes if you want. I really like her and I love that they added the smaller bust option. I'm either going to see if there is a way to add the shoes to the animal version or see if they will add the staff to the human version 2. You can add the human outfit to the animal version as well as heel legs and heel feet, but you can't add the shoes and likewise with the staff. I bet they would let me add those on to my order. I also wonder if they would be willing to put the animal faceup on the human head too. Haha. Cause really if they would be willing to do that and sell me the staff with the human version 2, then I don't the animal version. Her animal legs are cool, but I probably would keep her human most of the time. I just prefer the faceup on the animal head so I think that is what keeps drawing me to her, but I also really want that staff. And I definitely would want her in milk cocoa skin because I'm super curious to see how different it really is from sandy brown skin. I'm convinced they changed their formula for sandy brown skin in the last few years because my last sandy brown skin boy that came home I swear is actually the milk cocoa skin. So I would love to actually have a milk cocoa skin to compare it to.

She would be such a good match to my Paw Vito fullset who hopefully should be coming home in the next few weeks. I'll have to think about it, but if Souldoll can make some of the switches (they have been pretty awesome at accommodating my requests) than I think I might go for her.

Is anyone else thinking about getting her?

 

@Meggethann - I found it. The short dress shown on Rae human ver.1 is the Vito girl gift dress. So if you order any Vito girl you'll get that dress, like it or not. I prefer the ver.2 outfit myself. I really like the boots, but I had so much trouble with Freya's boots--she couldn't stand in them. I really like Rae's face and the small breast option, but that butt belongs on a much bigger doll.

 

I love my grey Riris, big bosom and butt look nice together. with small breasts, that bubble butt would look rather generous, but it's fashionable these days.
those boots are gorgeous. I wish I could get them. two outfits are calling me, but not for $37 shipping. I wish SD would do registered, tracked air mail.

That big bust was one of the big off-putting factors for me. And now they've gone and released a small bust option and ruined all my careful planning!
Agree with others though that the butt is still a bit much... Hmm, what to do, what to do...

 

I would love to see pics of the whole body like in that sector where you can get the vito girls body... hope they gonna put up pics soon

@Roterwolkenvogel He's awesome looking. The swirly detail on his face is gorgeous. Is there a little symbol over his bone eye? I love seeing the Azrael skull and what people are doing with it.

It'll be a while before I can get my guy painted but you just gave me a fantastic option to having his skull part airbrushed white and then painted (my head is also in NS). I never even thought of working with his resin colour to make the bone looked aged into a creamy colour instead of stark white. Thank you for that.

 

@Iron_Dog yes indeed! It's the Roman number two as he is the second of seven 'beings' in my story and I am a dork

And ha glad to be of help! I really really wanted his skull part to be aged cause I prefer my skulls to be weathered instead of pristine white xD

 

@Roterwolkenvogel Nah, I think that adds depth to him.

I guess for my guy I was thinking of bleached bone instead of weathered bone. But when I really think about it, he would be more weathered looking than bleached as Ra-Sui is thousands of years old (he is a god) and he doesn't typically hang out in a desert or bright sun. Also, as the God of Decay, and the colours that one would typically associate with that state, it does make a ton more sense for him to NOT be pristine white.

 

My Paw fullset is finally at item processing. Hopefully it will switch to shipping very soon!
