[Adopted] Souldoll Vito (50cm) Discussion - Part 3

Congrats on Gil's arrival, @JAS101. He looks perturbed about something. Maybe it's the huge boots standing next to him. Can't wait to see how he develops as you get him wigged and painted.

I've been stalking this thread for a while having gotten my Vito a while ago, but I decided soon after to hybridize him and have him dyed, the poor fellow had no idea what he was in for, I must say. I decided to finally share him, even though he's nowhere near done yet. He is still in need of smaller eyes, a wig (I have one on order), a faceup, and pants that actually fit (I have some of those on order as well, but the whole fitting thing is dubious considering the other pants I've gotten for him), but here he is in his current state flaunting a quick towel I threw together to help retain some of his modesty. He is a Souldoll Vito Lester with the H-double legs and a Soom Idealian51 torso, arms, and hands, all of which have been dyed darker to match and to match the character.

Thats a wonderful and well thought out hybrid @auten01 Especially since most hybrids involve body swapping, I like how you focused on switching out the arms to make him look more muscular and you did a splendid dye job as well.
What kind of dye did you use btw?

Thanks for the pics! Really impressive. And I'm rather surprised at the fit O.o Iple necks are thicker and the shoulders broader and firmer than expected. Reaaaaaally nice...

@JAS101: Woha, congratulations! The skin color looks very lovely (better than the sandy brown my NL Albee has. Less reddish most of all).

@auten01: O.o Now THAT's a hybrid... Definitly good job on the dye job. I did recognize Lester at once and was wondering why the top looked so different before actually reading ^^°

 

@Snowy Souldoll Vito Azrael skull version XD I actualy wanted to put him on my spare centaur hybrid body but uh, I think he'll just be Death in my storyline. Fits with the half skull xD

The fit is really damn nice, I am still glad it all worked out as planned tbh!

@Roterwolkenvogel: oooh! Congrats! Did you get him in gray or white? (Did you mean the Soom Zinc Centaur body? Or a Luts one?)

Btw I'm not sure if anyone else can relate (cause of potential translation differences), but whenever I read 'Azrael' I have to think of the cat from Gargamel from the Smurfs. *snickers*

And I think the skull head is practically begging to be made into something death/zombie/ghoul-like :3

Any plans for the human head?

 

@Snowy Got him in normal and really just the skull head thanks to a lovely person so no body/human head for me! (And I mean Luts centaur with Iple JID upper body that I got modded together last year /irrational fondness of hybrids)

And now I will never get that out of my head now XD totally forgot the cat was named Azrael!

Well I finally decided and ordered Azreal in WS with the tarot faceup on the human head. I may sell the skull head when he arrives.

... I'm kinda sorry and kinda not. Now I'm not the only one stuck with it XD I didn't think of it until I was typing up that post and suddenly was like 'Wait... THE CAT! I thought the name sounded familiar, but it's the CAT isn't it?' and googled it up to make sure :3

@Nyxy : XD I liked the cat.

Ehh... You could look up SD13 shirts, thought you might need to shorten them a bit. If you use real t-shirt fabric (stretchy kind) then you can use the meassurements to adjust if required and it's no biggy if you are a bit off.

@JAS101 I totally know what you mean. When I purchased my first doll there weren't even owner pics of it and generally not much on the company itself. Still decided he was the one who looked most like my character and was MSD sized, so... Luckily he turned out as wonderfully as he looked on the pics ;P

 

I just wanted to share a new outfit I made for my vito. Making clothes for boys is deffinitly a challenge for me but I'm happy with the final outcome.
Hoping to improve on the patterns and maybe put them out there for everyone.
Does anyone know of already existing patterns that can work for vitos?
My pants here came out the best but even still needs work.

Looks like we've got a new thread, I guess I should join in for a change. xD Although, my poor guy still doesn't have clothes... I didn't feel very inspired with him for a long time because his torso joint annoys me and I couldn't find him a nice fiber wig... but since I tried a fur wig on him, I like him better. However, that torso joint still bugs me, ugh. -.-;; I really like Azrael, but... I don't think I want another Vito body to deal with, unfortunately. How do you guys feel about the Vito body's joints and posing? I made a review of the Shown Double jointed body in my blog, you can view it here: link.

@auten01, That's an interesting hybrid, and great job with the dyeing! I debated between ID51 and Vito for a long time, but eventually went for a Vito because I fell in love with Berial. How is the ID51 torso in comparison to Vito? Does it feel smoother to handle? I'm kinda iffy about having the joint at the chest (I'd prefer it was located on the waist for a proper slouch) but if it was at least rounder like that ID51 body's joint instead of angular & sharp like the Vito body's joint is, I guess I could live with it.

Here's one photo of Yosh (Berial) for now, borrowing another doll's wig until I find a nice dark brown one for him:

It's frustrating how that chest joint gaps... It's my only complaint about this body, I love everything else about it. .__.

 

@Mizya Wow! So I had never really given it a thought, let alone a deep thought. I really took in all you wrote and feel it was so eloquent and just made sense! Like, I too am now wondering what the sculpting artist was thinking. I just kept nodding my head reading through in agreement. I am new with Vitos, I just got my boy late last year and was immediately in LOVE with him as he's been a dream doll of mine since I started this hobby. But that has mostly to do with the fact that I think he's absolutely gorgeous and I feel just perfectly fits my characters! I'd always reference the Souldoll Lester sale page when needing inspiration for writing my shorts.
Before reading your post though, I have been annoyed with his torso. It DOES make it hard to pose him naturally, which I was starting to discover it kinda sucked (I find the torso most annoying when hes sitting adn that's only that I haven't tried posing him in that sexy laying way which from you blog THAT is the worst!) and have now been reconsidering my decision to get another one, as I had originally planned since my character for him has a twin and I just loved the idea of two Lesters. GAhhh! Now I'm not sure what I want to do. Maybe Lesters head on another body, but personally I do not enjoy putting the work into a hybird, even if it's just a head swap. So I do have to say @auten01 that is a strategic hybrid and he looks excellent from here.

I want to say that my love for Vito is too great to be hindered too much by this annoying torso.. and that gap!!! but who knows...
Also, @Mizya That wig is pretty darn fabulous on him and that photo is quite steamy regardless of ya know... torso. haha. ^_~

Just hope the style goes more in the direction of the old double body, than the NL girls one. Especially concerning hand and feet joints :3 But then again that Vito boy body is... rawr... So... I'm in good spirits -^^-

 

If they come with a pretty vito girl body I'll surely go for one!

They had a summer event last year and the year before, I believe. I do remember Tarot-series dolls and sandy brown resin options being part of those :3

 

I'm new to this thread, and am looking into getting a Vito. Jang has been on my list in sandy brown for a long time - ever since I started looking at dolls. He seems to be out of stock (and has been for a long time)... I'm guessing the mold broke?... Half of me hopes he'll stay out of stock for a bit so I can complete my wishlist first. XD
I'm also finding myself liking Azrael.
I'm a bit troubled by that Vito chest joint, to be honest... I'm not sure if it'd be problematic or not. He'd be clothed pretty much all the time. And maybe hot glue sueding would help the poseability.... Still weighing things out if I am going to get a Vito.

Anyway, I'm enjoying the photos, and intend on mostly lurking...

Edit: If anyone can show me a comparison between Iplehouse special real skin and Souldoll sandy brown, I'd really appreciate it!

I have a feeling Jang was a slow seller. If they get more requests, they may change their mind. At least he's not limited.

Lol I had to come here and see if anyone has noticed or even know some news about Vito girl as I found that tiny text only and no other information.. But seems they want to keep us excited. Omg.. Now I need to stalk them and this thread, Vito girl sounds promising, the size looks really cute but that kind of slim boy dolls are not for me.. Can't wait to see a small (possibly mature..) lady! Plz be grey skin demonic babe! I haven't seen this sized doll in person yet, but my friend ordered this gorgeous grey Vito man and I can't wait to see how tiny/large they are..

I'm hoping for a 49 cm tall lady with a face similar to Edmunds :3 Their latest Vito Jin and the recent MSD sized ladies make me hopeful she could work the way I want and need her too :3

 

@Snowy Thanks a lot for your comparison!! I have never realized Vito boy is that much larger than Idealian51! He's taller yes, but the head size is very different and makes ID51 look off-scale next to larger SD boy..? Vito looks natural and realistic, not like a tiny human with tiny head xD Nevermind, we can always make the sizes work, that's what I do with my 75-80cm dolls which look huuuge next to smaller SD 49cm girl sounds perfect indeed, she wouldn't look so tiny next to her Vito man! I don't know about the faces yet, but I would love to see something ladylike, mature, not too round or cute... but I'm sure they'll release many different kind of girls in the future as their Vito boys have cute/younger looking and manly/rough looking options too!

 

Oh shit, if she ends up at around 49cm and kickass looking I am absolutely doomed. I have a certain giantess that I kinda might want to shell... (though then I'd prolly cave and put a SoulKid Gana in my order too and be over with it /weak)

 

@Adalwolf: No problem at all :3 ID51 have a tiny head. I'm using stretchy 6-7 for my three boys, but for the ID51 I once had I needed a stretchy 5-6. I should point out thought that the SD13 was a Souldoll Double and for him I could use 7-8 or 8-9 thought the stretchy 7-8 fitted him better in my oppinion. So he had a small head as well.
I definitly hope fore a mature not-roundish lady.
Even better if the heads of the guys and girls will be interchangeable, like their MSDs are :3

@Roterwolkenvogel: Given that their NL girls are 45 and their NL boys are 47, Souloid Boys 48 and their Vito boys 52, I think an estimate of 48-50 cm is realistic :3 Otherwise she wouldn't need to be labled 'Vito'.

Souldoll. Azrael is my first order from them but I feel your pain. I spent several days bemoaning them when they released Azrael because he was so perfect and limited and it was a terrible time for me to get a doll! My boyfriend wound up getting him for me as a 2016 all-holidays gift. We both knew he was so perfect for the character and we were going to get a Vito to be him even before. Buuuut the skull head and grey skin were a killer combo.

 

@JAS101 Have you found patterns designed specifically for Vito? Because I haven't. If they're not Vito patterns, could you share the name of the pattern / designer / or company that makes them? I'm afraid my Jin is going to come home and either sit around naked for a while or else end up wearing clothes that don't fit while I try to make or alter something for him. Any help will be much appreciated!

 

Patterns for the 19" Tonner dolls should be very close. The pants will be too short and maybe a little tight but tops should fit fine. I'm sure there are other sources but here is one seller on ebay Items in Patterns from DesignsbyJude store on eBay!

@nancy_schroeder_ca I use Designs by Jude's DeeAnna Denton patterns for my Raccoon Dolls so I'm familiar with her. I wasn't sure if any of her other sizes would work for Vito. I don't mind making small adjustments to patterns--it's starting from scratch or scaling down full-size patterns that makes me break into a sweat! Patterns for 19 inch Tonner guys sound do-able. Thanks!

@JAS101 I appreciate the suggestion but I've never succeeded at scaling down people patterns. I do have some SD boy patterns from Adams-Harris that I was planning to adapt if I don't find anything closer in size.

 

I usually just buy them SD13 shoes and make sure they aren't too long.

As for patterns, I make mine myself. I'd try to explain it, but I can't even in my native language ^^° Sorry.

 

Not sure what you are looking for but have you looked at Luts' shoes? They have nice boots in various styles.

 

What style are you looking for? Older SD10 boots might work better.

It seems to me you can remove the buckles which would be what you want I think.

 

I still have not had the chance to get a Vito Lester. He is one of my grail dolls but I'm in no hurry with my wishlist. Soul-Kid Bonnie and Joelle .D are also quite important. I'll just go with which doll I feel most like ordering next up, when time comes. Planning ahead never works!

I am so excited to see that Vito girls are comming soon.

 

A little late I fell for Azrael. If I ever find a head, has anyone tried a vito head on a SD body? How does it look?

 

Awe, that's too bad about Azrael. If you only want the human head I think I had heard a couple people local to me say they only wanted the skull one so there might be some of those on the market once they start arriving?

 

@IDK_wiz The heads take 6-7 wigs if they are stretchy and 7-8 wigs, so they look kinda too small. I once tried to put a Vito head on a Double body. Other than the neck being way too thick the head looked riddiculus short. Barelly about a centimeter broader than the neck on each size. And this even thought the Souldoll Double I head also had a small head and could wear 7-8 wigs...

Maybe it would work with thinner sd bodies, that also have a thinner neck. Definitly not ones that are of similar muscular built as the Vito one.
