So a lot of people have said soulkids will fit in most minifee sized clothes except the pants. What size/ type/brand of pants do y'all use for your soul kids?
I have a Shabby Willow. I love her! /doll-profiles/nari-day.19508/ I have no real complaints. I love the look of her body, (double jointed New body) and overall how she poses. I haven't had any issue getting her to stand or hold a pose.
Okay thank you so much! I was wondering what size eyes to ise for her and that gives me a good place to start
Hey everyone! I was thinking about hybriding a soulkid juno onto a thinner male body. I know souldoll heads range in size a lot. Does anyone have any recs or ideas?
I very much need the greenish blue Angel Persephone! I have lavender gray Baby Pink, I want them to be twin demons!
@C4LIC0 : Hmmm perhaps maybe LUTS Model Delf body might work? Soulkid's heads (although they range in size) are still pretty small, and I think smaller petite MSD doll bodies would be your best bet. I do have a Soulkid girl head that I could try on a Model Delf boy body if you'd like to see proportions? I gotta dig them out lol... @Amberay_SH : I'm loving their new fantasy resin color, and Angel Persephone has such a beautiful face! I wish they did some more fantasy parts with her, but she's a gorgeous fullset. I hope you will get her, she will look lovely with Baby Pink!
hmm I don't have my Juno anymore but I believe her head was on the normal small side as the others I'd have to go through some of my photos to see if I have any comparisons with any of my other souldoll's. Agreed I was hoping when I saw the fanatsy color she would be on a fantasy body..lol..but I'm still tempted..I have Baby Pink too in lavender. I loved the look of the Mermaid ones but since it wasn't a mermaid body I passed.
is anyone thinking of ordering the persephone version limited doll? I'm considering it but can't decide between normal skin or going for the greenish blue skin the only thing that puts me off the GB (besides the extra charge) is that I don't like how the gift head looks in it and I'm worried it won't be as sorta minty pastel like it seems in the pictures... but I absolutely love how the persephone head looks in it! such a dilemma
If you mean the green color the only companies I know of that do color match are Resinsoul and I believe Impldoll still may do it. I've not done any color matching with Impldoll, but I have had ordered custom colors through Resinsoul you just need to either send them a actual color swatch or doll part to match or you can match the resin to a Pantone color and email them that info. But any company will not be able to guarantee a 100% match that I'm aware of
@strawberry_parade I just ordered Persephone lol I haven't even managed to paint my Baby Pink from last year but I guess I need to get working!! I managed to avoid Swinte elf so I'm not surprised I couldn't resist her especially in the green blue skin
cool! I know Resinsoul is like the usual go to for custom bjds lol. What about the non fantasy colours? Is there any companies that are known to be good matches with souldoll that you know of?
@karlyl I honestly am really considering her now, its the ears and the half lidded eyes that get me! How can I say no she's sooo pretty and cute I'm just waiting for my next paycheck before I order her lol
I love Angel's blue green skintone and elf ears but I must resist, I already ordered the mermaid Elfin not that long ago.
Angel Persephone is sooo beautiful. I like green and blue resin dolls so much! I did recently put mermaid Elfin on layaway (after a lot of decision changing haha) and have another blue doll on order too, so I'll pass on this Angel, but I'm happy to see such interest in her here, because this means a lot of owner photos to see in the future! @strawberry_parade Luts Peach (obitsu white) colour is great match for Souldoll normal (I have Swinte head on their body in that colour), otherwise, you would need to look at companies that have more pink-based normal skin. You could also just order extra body from Souldoll directly if you need normal or white.
Do you know if the heads of the larger sized dolls (like senior delf) fit on one of thr larger souldoll bodies okay? Now that i know the skin matches well. I dont like luts bigger bodies Sorry i know this is the kids chat, the colour match just made me think of it i hope that's okay Personally i really like the human cany version of Angel. Unfortunately her order period ends Saturday and I'm still unemployed i was really hoping I'd find a job before then because she's so cute. Boo.
I'm afraid I don't know that one for sure as I don't have any luts heads... but senior delfs head are definitely bigger than zenith heads. I'll put links here to how senior body ver7 looks like on with their own head and with mine (I will need to sand down the luts body neck as it is a bit long, but depending on clothes might not be noticable): lutsdoll co.,ltd. Souldoll Swinte + Luts body hybrid I would recommend that you post your question on the senior luts thread (/threads/luts-senior-delf-discussion-part-iv.710593/) and Zenith thread (/threads/souldoll-zenith-discussion-part-ii.649601/) - this way it has bigger chance for someone to see it that might have the souldoll body and luts head at hand.
I had a Souldoll in normal skin that I had on a 5stardoll body, but they are no longer around...I have one in white skin too she hasn't seemed to have yellowed much she was paper white when I got her, but I don't know if souldoll white has changed? I'll compare the normal skin with some of the other company dolls I have in normal skin later this evening.
yes, I believe Souldoll changed their white resin color in recent years it was once paper white, now it's a bit more pink in color
aaaa very excited!! I just put my order in for the blue-green Angel Persephone doll!! She was so beautiful, the first doll I have ever felt that I couldn't resist ordering!!
After almost two years Arphen (Angel) finally got a face . Her eye lashes are still missing but I'm happy to finally do something with her. She deserves it .
Congrats! I'd love to see pictures when she arrives! She's beautiful! It's great to see some owner photos.
Took Morrow to the zoo the other day... you ever get that feeling that your dolls are sad/happy? It's funny; their faces don't change, and yet somehow she looked so much happier to me after I took her to the zoo. XD
ok so like 1 more day basically left to order the limited persephone version angel from souldoll and I am so torn! I still can't decide if I want her blue skin either, its so pretty but can I even afford it? Im thinking I would settle for the NW... the only other con I have about her is that I find that soulkids heads are very disproportionate to their bodies that kinda bugs me. Would anyone who owns one be able to give me more info on that? do you find it really noticeable? Even still I love her big ears AHHH my heart says yes but my wallet is screaming no
@strawberry_parade My girl's head doesn't feel especially disproportionate to me. Minifees are on average a cm or two shorter (38-41 vs 43) and have slightly larger heads (18 vs my girl's 17cm) ...although I do remember seeing somewhere that there is some variation in Soul Doll head sculpts. That said, her head height to body height is much closer to 1:7 than the traditional 1:8 used in drawing, and her centreline is closer to her thigh mobility joint than her crotch (about 1.5 cm difference), giving her long legs and a small torso. I think what you may be noticing is a slightly enlarged head set off against this smaller torso. Certainly they are not as realistic as Ipplehouse FID for example. Here are some good standing photos with minimal perspective distortion:
@InnocentSin : She is GORGEOUS! Ugh... I ended up passing on the mermaids that month because I splurged on a random find on Mandarake, but your owner photos make me wish I had put one of them on a long layaway. Congrats on her! Can't wait to see what you do with her!
Hey all.. my soul kid Willow has been having trouble standing and after restringing several times i noticed her right tight piece js slightly longer than her left. Has anyone else had this issue? What should i do?
@Iceymelody When the double girl body first came out it did have problems with one leg being slightly longer than the other. If your girl is brand new then you should have the updated body that has that problem fixed. Both of my girls stand easily so I'm wondering if your issues are still stringing problems?
I got a double girl last year and she doesn't stand well at all which has kind of put a damper on my enjoyment of her. It takes a lot of careful placing and tugging on her legs to get her to stand. Otherwise I can recommend clunky shoes to help her with standing. I am kinda glad to hear I am not crazy and that I am not the only one who has issues. When I asked last year I didn't hear of anyone else having any problems. I am sorry your girl has these troubles too though.
Yes she is new Sorry you're having trouble as well laquaza So i actually has kept trying to stand her and such-my girlfriend noticed the little thigh mobility joint on the right isnt set in all the way like the left either. I have no clue whats going on! I'm glad I'm also not crazy though haha
What type of stringing issue can cause this problem? Thank you! Her legs are kinda crossing when sitting. Is that indicitive of anything ?
@Iceymelody I'm not very knowledgable about stringing but some issues might be the knot being in the wrong place, the elastic is twisted or maybe both sides of the elastic are not even in tension. New dolls also tend to be strung too tightly. It might just be whatever is causing laquaza's problems is happening to you too. If they were strung tightly maybe something has been warped during shipping?
I've restrung my Angel at least two times since I received her. So I honestly doubt it's the stringing. It's almost 2AM here but I'll take a closer look at her leg pieces (and measure them) after I get some sleep in.
@Iceymelody That's super frustrating! If the mobility joint isn't closing, maybe the ball part on the upper thigh piece is too tall for the cup in the lower thigh piece? On my girl, that ball and cup isn't really a ball joint... When the mobility joint is straight, the rim closes, but inside there is a gap between the ball and the cup (a little under 1mm... I measured by squishing some putty in there.) But you said earlier that one thigh piece is longer than the other... If the mobility joint did close all the way, would her legs be the same length? Or is there asymmetry somewhere else as well?
It looks like there's asymmetry as well. I lined up her knees the and thigh line was higher on one and then lined up the thigh line to be sure and the knee was off. I'm going to check again today to be sure
@Iceymelody Hmm... Okay, I have thoughts, but take them with a grain of salt. I've built a lot of scale models out of various materials, occasionally including resin, but I've never modded a BJD. (I'm assuming below that the longer thigh piece is also the one where the mobility joint doesn't close.) If you were brave and confident in your modding ability, you could think about sanding down that ball, first to fit the cup and then a little further so that you could also sand down the flat top of the lower thigh piece. That would be the easiest way to lose a little length without having to sand something that's usually exposed or trying to reproduce a complicated end shape. But it might be easier (and safer) to go the other way... What about getting a rubber joint pad or two to pad out the mobility joint in the shorter leg to lengthen it to match? You could even test this with a bit of cardboard or something cut into a ring shape. (This is all reminding me of my father who's had multiple hip replacements that have left him with one leg half an inch shorter than the other. He has a special insert in his shoe to prop the shorter leg up.)
That last paragraph makes think I could just try to put a tiny sheet of foam or so in one of her shoes. I think I'll try that next week.
@laquaza Sure! If they're wearing shoes that's even easier. My dad's insert is wedge-shaped and goes in the heel because what's where the leg comes down.
So, my Baby Pink Unicorn Ver has some minor asymmetry -- I received her at the very beginning of this year, so, a reasonably recent purchase. She has human legs and one of the legs is just a tiny bit longer than the other, so some bare foot standing poses it is noticeable, but not really when she's in shoes. It's not a big deal to me, but I understand how this could get problematic depending on what the intention is for the doll. I'm pretty sure all my Souldoll kids have some issues when it comes to standing, lol, but again, fairly minor issues for me. It's ok to also contact Souldoll to see if there is a way to fix it or to see if the part is actually defective vs just being a bit asymmetrical. I've had an instance with another company where a part was warped and I had asked the company if the part was supposed to fit in the way it was and it turned out it was a defective part, which they replaced for me. Of course, modding can be fun too
Oooh I'm definitely not brave enough to mod her but i will try padding the shorter leg! And maybe when i have some money getting her sturdy shoes. For now she's just sitting and kneeling- she does those very beautifully
Hey all.. my souldoll came in just a month ago and her sealant is already cracking. Has anyone else has this happen with them? I might be able to send her back and have her redone but if this is a common issue i dont trust it wont happen again.. If so, does anyone have recommendations for face up artists that have a realistic neutral style? I want her to have the same vibe and still be *her* if i have to redo her face if that makes sense
Got my Angel Persephone Ver yesterday!! She's so minty They also sent a normal Angel head in the blue green resin as well. Gotta figure out her look!
I definitely plan to! I have a Baby Pink Unicorn and a Lovely ver to paint first because I've been terrible at finishing my projects this year haha.
She looks sooooo good. I love blue dolls, and I was only stopped by my other two layaways already in place from ordering her. Can't wait to see her in a different style to the one that was on the website. We need more gorgeous green & blue dolls!
Hi, I had this issue once from Soul Doll. It was on my Vito Callia. Her sealant started cracking after a few months. I have several other dolls from Soul Doll though and their faceups have been fine for years even though I handle them regularly. So it might be worth seeing if they'll redo it for you! If you decide to go with an artist, I think it will depend on where you're located, but I've used Angel Addiction here on DoA and think their faceups work well with Soul Doll default ones. Or maybe Starcat Doll Aesthetics (also has a thread in the marketplace) or Nocturne Doll on instagram could maybe be a good fit.
Souldoll's done it again with Berry A. They've really been releasing sculpts that tempt me lately and I already regret not being able to get Angel S. Anyone else thinking of getting Berry?
I am so tempted to get Vivaan in neutral tan. He might just work for one of my D&D characters. But I need to figure out if he'd work scalewise. The character's a kind of gnome so he'd be put next to short 1/3 dolls. He shouldn't look like a kid next to them and more 'out of scale' in the right way. That might be rather tricky. Guess I'll have to check how Angel looks next to my 55 - 62 cm dolls dolls.
I'm figuring out my Angel.S Persephone's look and I think I'm going to go with the white wig because it will give me more options for how I want her to look with those yellow eyes. The blue multi-color wig is soooo gorgeous but I would definitely be stuck with a less intense look for her faceup and body work because the wig would be so vibrant. I also tested wigs on my Baby Pink Unicorn Ver ( who I also have to paint haha) and she is definitely going to need a custom wig if I want it to sit correctly -- her horn definitely gets in the way. But is ok! I get to dye some alpaca fiber pink to go with the color concept I'm going for. @laquaza I took an image of my Angel.S next to a 58cm Peakswoods Red and an about 52 cm Black Cherry Xiao Yu on a Dollstown Elf body, if that helps with references for you on size! Obviously the proportions are different because the brands are different but I think Angel.S could work well next to 55cm dolls with smaller heads.
Aww thank you so much for taking that picture. It's really helpful. And I really like that white wig on your Angel S. The cut suits her very well too .
Ok, so I ended up starting the painting work on my Angel S Persephone before my Baby Pink Unicorn, lol. I couldn't get her out of my head. Anyway, here is the progress -- She's starting to come together Still have to get her outfit which will pull all the body work in together and I have some details to add to her chest and torso, but I'm happy so far! Spoiler: More Pics
