Has anyone with the new Soulkid girl body heard back from Souldoll about a piece of the inner torso breaking?

On a facebook group I am in someone reviewed the body and said they contacted Souldoll, they know there is an issue with some of the torso pieces being thin. So far everyone who has contacted them about it has been promised/received a replacement torso. I myself do not own one but remember seeing the review and thinking it was good that souldoll admitted the flaw and has been replacing them.

 

I managed to ask a question in the last post of the old thread, so I'll repost it here.

Does anyone have, or can you point me to comparison photos of the different soulkid female bodies? I'm planning to order Clodia and Gana before they are discontinued (though Gana will be the new head for my souloid) but I can't decide between the new body and the NL body, especially since I'm likely to use Gana's body for a hybrid with a LUTS or minifee head.

My only soulkid to date is Mewo and she is on the old body that was recently discontinued, so comparisons of either current body with that body would be really useful, as would comparisons with other bodies - eg minifee, luts.

Mewo was originally going to be the new head for my souloid but I made the "mistake" of using her for my model in the anniversary contests and she developed so much of her own personality that she needs to stay as herself. Now that the contest is over and I can post her publicly, here she is in her sock outfit:

I don't have any particularly helpful photos to offer up. But @Chocolatine has one here of all the kid bodies I think. @sakana_hime has one comparing with a JID and a Maji. I'm trying to remember any others I've seen...

Honestly, I would recommend the new double based on the ankles alone. It's so difficult to get the nl body to stay standing! But they have very different looks.

Thanks for posting this! I was looking for info yesterday... It's not very good that both bodies have breakage problems tho, especially with how lovely the bodies look.

Does anyone know if AoD Normal-P skin still matches? And what is the match for SoulDoll white?

 

I found sueding the feet easily solved the standing problems with my spider on the NL girl body. And that's with 4 extra arms.

 

Thanks so much everyone, especially @sakana_hime – that's exactly what I needed to know.

My issue was that I really prefer the double body general shape. I do like the way the bust piece is at the bottom of the breasts in the NL body, but I find the shoulders on that body a little too narrow. However given I will be repurposing at least one of the bodies, I was concerned that the new double body might be too tall.

However it looks to me as if there is very little height difference and your post about the posing on the new body is reassuring, so I think I should go with the new body for both dolls as being the one I like best and I can always swap Mewo's body out for one of the new ones if I need a shorter body for a hybrid.

 

I really would love to get Moa’s animal version but I kind of want to wait and see if they rerelease her in sandy brown or another skin tone instead. Signs point to them doing so if I read their notice about their ordering system correctly but I don’t want to wait and regret getting her now, even if it’s not the skin tone I want.

 

@Tide N Thyme you're welcome! I really like the new double and it's not too much taller, it just has different proportions. I will say that the shoulder joints are a bit loose and of course that breakage in the torso joint is a bit of a shame.

I hot glue sueded her the other night though and it completely fixed the shoulder. I also don't find that the broken piece in the torso impacted her posing negatively. I actually think that she slouches better now haha.

 

Layaway order placed! It'll be a full 6 months layaway considering there are 2 dolls in the order, but I'm so pleased to be getting them.

They are even more beautiful in real live and I'm even more pleased to report that the hybrid bodies from Mystic Kids for the pointy eared part of the four has started to head towards the location of their heads today as well XD
Joelle already claimed a body that didn't fit a different head (a Dream Valley one), but still needs a slight neck modification (sanding down a bit of the extra lenght), the white skin match looks to be good thought

And for the record: The current Souldoll NS is a bit darker/pinker than Resinsoul's ns, so it's a decend match :3

@Bristol Mystic Kids white skin is a perfect match and fit and I've just put a new Joelle head on a new Dream Valley head and that also seems to work out perfectly, except for the neck lenght (pic linked above), but I currently only have artificial light, might be a bit different in natural light, but from what I see it should be a good match.

Don't know if AoD changed their ns-p, but Souldoll's is a bit pinker/darker than it used to be (see Resinsoul pic - their current ns is what Souldoll's used to be. Difference is not large thought).
I intend to put my ns heads on Mystic Kids normal skin body (normal normal, not their old normal pink or normal yellow). I have a Mystic Kids Sean here, where the ns matched a new Vito Paw head very well, so I'm in good spirits that this hybrid will work out just like their ws does -^3^-


@nanaminore You could try asking them directly, if you haven't already :3 They might let you know.

I am really tempted by that Dream Valley third arm body, so... I wonder how it would look like with the Agasa head on it. I kind of worry seeing as Souldoll heads tend to run smaller.

And about DV and head sizes: DV themselves has 6-7 sized heads just like Souldoll. Two of my friends got full DVs and confirmed that
Joelle looks good on the DV boy body, except neck lenght, which I‘ll sand down a bit for a more natural look.

Is anyone ordering the Moa or Aehael limiteds? (Casual or Animal)

 

I'm back with news of my Souldoll/Mystic Kids hybrids.

The ws and ns brand new don't match.
I'll wait a month and see if the Souldoll heads mellow out again (paper white into creamy white and the ns loosing some of the pink shade) or not. If not, I'll just have to consider that when doing their face-ups.

Visually wise they work prefect for what I wanted.

I just finished my layaway on a sandy brown Yelena and started two others. I was planning to just give up on the Bonnie and Seung-a sculpts but couldn't help myself! Then I ordered a normal skin Moa with Aehael gift head.

Does anyone know how good of a match Souldoll normal and Myou normal resin is?
I'm planning to use Aehael as the boy of my group and Myou's new male body fits my aesthetic

 

I don't have any photos but it sounds like Souldoll will not fit a Myou body; the neck is too thick. I don't know what it looks like so I am not sure if it's something you can mod and still have look and function good.

 

Just going based in the measurements I think they will fit but may need some modding. The new Myou bodies has 6.8cm necks which is the same as the NL body.

I'm more worried about if I'll need to dye the body or head to match each other.

 

I sold someone a Juno head and they had the v2 body and it didn't fit, so I'm not sure if it's a measurement problem (perhaps slightly off measurements?) or if it's a shape issue. Modding will probably help but I can't say for sure. If you are successful with it, I'd love to know since I considered it for my Clodia head.

 

Myou just came out with a v2 boy body and a v3 girl body that has the smaller necks. I definitely plan on getting the boy body since my Souldoll Aehael will be male and will post an update on here.

 

I can compare my Yeon Soo and my MYOU girl on the V1 body. I'm... actually shocked at how beautifully that fits. There's one angle that looks a little bit strange, pictured.




That's with her head tilted as far right as it'll go. The neck looks a little strange under her ear. Most wigs would camouflage this, I suspect.

The resin match (MYOU normal and Souldoll normal, both a year or two old) is terrible -- MYOU's normal has no pink tones at all. I can't photograph these two dolls side by side without color correcting the snot out of my MYOU girl. I'd like to see Souldoll's normal compared to MYOU's pink skin. That might be a better fit.

 

Don't the v1 and v2 have pretty much the same neck size? I wonder if maybe it was a variation between Juno and Yeonsoo's sculpting then, maybe...? That's interesting, though!
I was considering a big bust v2 girl body for my Clodia, so maybe that's still on the table... Who knows.

 

I decided to wait actually hoping they would do a fantasy color but they only release sandy brown and grey. My aehael centaur is in sandy brown/purple horse body, so I didn't want to get another sandy brown doll I guess I might have to settle for grey, almost wish I would have gone ahead and purchased Moa in white or normal. I guess she could probably look nice in grey, or maybe I don't need to buy her..kinda afraid to wait until the last minute to decide though have done that in the past and missed out on a few of their dolls namely Juno elf eared version, I really loved her transluscent horns, would have been a great head to put on a faun body.

 

I’m trying to decide myself between sandy brown or grey!! I’m leaning more towards the grey actually even though sandy brown is what I wanted originally. If you aren’t truly interested in either sandy brown or grey color, I think she has one more month to preorder after this one in normal or white? I believe Souldoll said they would do it three times, once in “fantasy/other colors” and twice in usual colors? And if you regret that, there is always dyeing!

Um... halp? I unstrung a Soulkid boy NL body and now I can't put it back together again

The guide says to use one bit of string per leg, to pull through the strange extra hole in the middle and presumably attach to the head... but if I do that, the suggested length of 22 cm is nowhere near enough.

Someone also mentioned cutting the leg string in half, but I don't know what they mean by that, and I definitely have 3 pieces of string. Or actually 2 now, because stringing the arms/torso finally worked. Any good ideas?

 

I am thinking about getting a gray Devonia or Kyron to be some kind of dark elf but I’m not sure which I would get. I would probably rather have the girl body which makes me think Devonia but maybe this is my opportunity to get a 1/4 boy that actually looks good. I think I like the Kyron head a little better than Devonia too, but it’s close because they are both really pretty.

 

I know the struggle, when they first were released I had a hard time deciding so I got both..lol. I really wish I had spent the extra though for the faceups instead of the clothing set but I wanted the wings, my two are still without faceups

FYI for those that are planning on getting the Moa/Aehael they will not be releasing a third round on them or another round on the limited that are in sandy/grey. I'm glad I asked because I was trying to decide if I wanted Moa or not..I got the Junia animal body version and am on the fence about getting another animal body doll as its pretty much the same hooves. I have less than 2 weeks to decide..eek.

Me too, she would have been really cute in a fantasy color. Which is why I wish they would just release in each color in the first go, or at least do the fantasy/other colors first.

I had hoped they'd do Kyron in blue or purple again. Grey and sandy brown are pretty colors, but I dunno.
Kyron was a limited one who's release I regretted not being able to join in, but ...
I strongly blame @Reinameron and her damn handsome Sirius for making me want Kyron in purple or blue (the one they had in the Vito Paw release) only.
So. Still on the fence wether or not I'll get him. I'm usually an all or nothing girl (and already was like 'if I can't get him in the color I want him, I'm not getting him), but ugh... Kyron...
(I am also considering getting him as a girl, but yeah... we'll see ^^°)

That said, I do have something to distract me from mental despair XD
I got myself a Joelle head from the discontinue event (among others ^^)° and today I got two items, that were the final kick to finalize my plans for him.

He's a white Joelle head on a Dream Valley body, that I slightly shortened the neck off, to make it look right.
Sword and shield are from different Fairyland events (and the key items to bring this character to life).

I was really surprised to see they brought Kyron back because Souldoll hasn't been all that keen on re-releasing past limited dolls. I had Kyron briefly from the original release in the "Violet Gray" resin but I was disappointed with the colour in real life... I was expecting a gray colour with a hint of violet in it, but what I got was a bright lilac which didn't work for my plans at all. Eventually I grew tired of him looking appropriate for his character only in photos (because I always edited his skin colour in photoshop) and sold the doll. But I've been sad about it because he had such handsome manly features and those lovely long ears. ;__;

And now suddenly there's a chance to buy Kyron in actual Gray skin! I'm just not sure if I can afford to order him because my dolly budget is reserved for other dolls... and I already re-shelled his sisters in 60cm scale. But I went back to look at my old photos of him and I keep thinking how nice it would be to have him again and for him to be Gray in real life, too, and not just in photos....

Thatkfully I never sold any of his things (except for the wig) so it would be relatively easy to recreate him. Decisions, decisions...

HOLY COW WHAT A GORGEOUS PHOTO It's pictures like yours that got me into this hobby, haha. I recently received a doll that I'd ordered in the darkest tan offered by the company, but he came in what's really a pretty light tan that looks way different from the company's photo. I've already checked, that is indeed their darkest tan, for some reason it just looks darker in their photos than it does in reality. I'm not sure what to do, I mean I'd have to do what you did - always edit him in photos to get him to look right - and I'm not excited about that either. I'd totally sell him or trade him if there was a darker version of him available, but there isn't, and the artist has supposedly discontinued his sculpt, so... I guess I'm pretty sol.

Anyway, sorry to sidetrack. XD If this helps any, BJDivas is a dealer for Soul Doll and they offer super long layaways (12 months afaik), maybe they can help you bring him home again?

Does anyone know if the Sio2Doll re-release or Bai Lu head in white skin matches souldoll?

She's gorgeous but I duno if I wana get her if she won't match the souldoll kid body I have T.T

I don't know about the colour, but Bai Lu is a 1/3 doll and souldoll kid body is 1/4, the head is not going to match with the body (too large)

 

Just got a shipping notification for the Shaun I ordered back in August! He'll be my first Souldoll sculpt so I'm that much more excited to meet him!

Ok, I know this has been discussed before, but I don't remember what page it was on... when I bought my clodia, it was right before the release of the new double jointed body. I'm finding myself getting really frustrated with the NL body.

I've sueded and even wired her and, still, her left arm does not do anything except sit at her side or sit straight up above her head. (At the shoulder) I've come to hate her body so much and even looked for a new doll to reshell my OC.

Come to find out the doll I was considering seems to have the same issues.

In light of this, I am wondering if the double jointed body poses better.

If anyone could give me your experiences with both bodies, I would be so appreciative!

@Guen Winters did you wire the two arms together through the torso?

 

@scripple I did, even had it go past her elbows. The right one worked ok, but the left one is still bleh... a friend thought maybe the resin was sanded differently on the left shoulder? I don't think souldoll sands their dolls tho. So idk

 

@Guen Winters perhaps you're using too small of wire, or too springy. The other option is to loosen the stringing in the arms. It is the elastic that fights the wire. If you use the right wire it should hold no problem. Honestly I've recently come to the conclusion that resin dolls pose better with thinner elastic and bigger wire. If the wire holds the pose the only job of the elastic is to hold the doll together. Tightly strung or very strong elastic is really more of a hindrance than a help once a good wire is in place as you're no longer counting on friction at the joints to hold the pose.

In my experience, with the right wire the poses will hold even if you pop the actual joint out of place.

Oh, I missed out on the Kyron discussion! I'm so happy to see love for Kyron, I had thought he was pretty unpopular. I was excited when Kyron & the other really beloved sculpts were re-released! I already own one, but I love the sculpts of the dolls I own so much that part of me always wants a second one.

She's so cute! I got the head in the discontinuation event, but I was surprised that her cheeks weren't chubbier. They looked so, but I guess it must've been from the face-up and photoshopping.

What body do you have for your girl?
