My experience with Tawny is that it was not worth the extra money at all because it looked almost exactly like Normal Skin.

 

A friend has 2 tawny from different years. One is more like a dark normal/light caramel while the other has more of a red tone to it. They look nothing alike. I think it would be a bit of a roll the dice moment if you wanted to go for tawny because there's really no telling which way Soom would go on the tawny this time.

 

Tawny Dia spam? There you go With Yuri, my Venitu. I personally am super happy with my Dias tawny; its a very natural darker skin tone. Not really tan, not really NS.

 

I love my tawny Chalco Soulmate. Slightly pinky tan like a fair-skinned beach bum , not normal, not tan, ages really well.

 

Thank you everyone for the input and photos! It makes jumping on this release even more enticing, but alas, no bjd, no matter how pretty, can win the funds battle against a new baby bunny...

 

Liam, my bronze Soom FCE Chrom, got a new body from DF-A in light tan. The color is far too light for him, but the proportions are good!


I’m absolutely loving him with the jointed hands tho!

 

All the tawnys were tempting, but I ordered a Dia at the last possible minute in NS. Got a layaway to wade through, but I'll be too busy to notice time passing anyway.

 

Oh, the pretty Blue Sard's! Wow! I'm in love❤️❤️❤️. Talk about a walk down memory lane. I actually remember when Sard came out. I ignored him because I had missed the Beryl release and was still beating myself up. Now I own 4 Beryl's.

Tawny with Soom is a roll of the dice. My Mom's Albany was orange toned, but has faded to a beautiful light tanish. My Vesuvia is mid tan tone and my Sabik is a light barely tan closer to normal. Vesuvia, aka Selena, is the only one the same color as her promo picts.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to see Jet return, finally, but I recall he wasn't very popular here on DoA at least. Wonder if the new version will sell any better?

I was surprised to see Jet in the line-up... He's a rare one. I've never seen a Jet posted other than my own.

The new vampire version is 112% not for me, though. I can't deal with open mouths.

 

@Brightfires - Come to think of it, I'm not sure I have any individual pics of mine. Guess I should do something about that. And yeah, I can't say I care much for open mouths on dolls either. I currently have one, and only because it works for the character.

 

I'm not a fan of open mouths either but I have a few and like @Sianserais , it just works for the characters.

 

I have one... one of my vampire Heliots, Raksha.. and I would like him so much better if he didn't remind me of a suffocating goldfish.

(Yes. He's basically in the collection for "completeness' sake". I really hoped at the time I bought him that I'd eventually get used to having a doll with that ridiculous of an expression, but I never really have. He's doomed to being at the back of the cabinet in the far corner until I decide I'm done having Heliots, I suspect. His face-up being layered with a truly ludicrous amount of pearl powder doesn't exactly help his cause, either. <_<)

 

Soom did something new! I don't like it, that facial expression is way too passive for that much fang showing, but something new! At last!

 

I'm not a fan either. Tbh, her face looks like she's 7 years old to me, which is super unsettling. (anyone else getting JonBenet Ramsey vibes?) Super bummed that Soom went from making 65cm glamazons with unique and striking features, to 59cm child pageant stars...

 

I was hoping for elf ears, here's my old version of Beauty, I love her to bits.

 

@Arekushia I love elf ears. You really have to impress me for me to buy a non-elf eared sculpt.

 

The sculpt doesn't work for me either, but I do like the concept for the tail, if not the execution.
Honestly, I'd still like an option to get Vesuvia's scorpion body in gray resin...

I have an odd question - does Beauty have the old style of Supergem head where the back is solid all around the neck hole, or the strange newer version where there's a slot for the elastic to slip through (and the resin banana sort of thing???)

I ask because I bought Saiph and she has the slot-neck style and I'm not 100% in love with it, and that may decide whether or not I go for Beauty. Thank you in advance for any help!

 

My Beauty uses the resin "banana" and neck slot like you described. I believe all of their newer dolls are done with way but you should check with SOOM regarding the new version.

I think the tail is cool but it looks like it's just a peg sort of attachment. I would have some concerns about how well it would stay in place. Vesuvia's tail is strung (it's also fairly heavy) so there's no chance of it randomly popping off.

 

I would buy a bronze Vesuvia, so I could have a human to go with my scorpion lady.

 

I would love any colour of vesuvia head, now that I've hunted down her scorpion body

 

Hi! Joining you guys here in this thread as I just finished styling my Galena (took me only few years to decide what is she going to look like, no big deal lol) and just in time for Soom to re-release her again too.
I would be really tempted if I didn't already have her - It is interesting to see they managed to update the fantasy parts for the new body type. The outfit is not my personal type, but the skin colours and the face up - just gorgeous!
I'm guessing Galenas are really popular recently - they seem to be releasing her over and over again...

For anyone in the middle of deciding on the purchase, I'll just throw in the picture of mine. She's on Cinderella body after my Vesuvia stole her bird body:

The bottom tulle part is actually better in person - a neat trumpet style. The fit is perfect on bust, waist and hips, just neck I had to stretch the fabric a bit to close (soom girls have thick necks ) I was pleasantly surprised by the good overall fit

 

@SolInvictus Oh! The bottom is really pretty. I have a hard time fitting my SOOMs in Souldoll clothes so it's good to see some fit well!

 

Souldoul paused selling clothes due to backorders. Some styles might be available again in the future.

 

@Arekushia I think part of it is that this dress has uncovered shoulders and part of the back - it gives a bit more flexibility on how it can fit. I tried a different souldoll outfit on Galena that is more of a fitted long-sleeved blouse and it was much worse - could fit in, but was so tight she could not move her arms at all! I have both companies dolls, so I could risk it but it's really a bit of a lottery.

@nancy_schroeder_ca I know glad I managed to get this one before they paused.

Just want to drop in and report on a resin match result - since I was curious about it but could not find any answer lol
So Soom Grey Skin can match with Doll Legend (Legend Doll?)'s grey skin! I placed an order or their grey skin jointed hands sometime this year summer time, and received it this December. The resin has only a very slight difference, but I couldn't really see much of a difference just by looking at them.
The only thing is the Super Gem male needs their uncle size jointed hands, the regular 1/3 jointed hands are too small for them.
Hope this helps for anyone looking for a resin match for grey skin!

I'm currently in progress of making my Soom Super Gem Obsidius into a supernatural beauty♡ I'm going for a demigod thing and am quite nervous of the turn out, yet still excited. With how I imagine him, though, I might have to make EVERYthing by hand. The things we do for love... OTL

 

I'd.... be careful of assuming that "perfect match", honestly. Soom's grey is as all-over-the-place as any other color they mix. I went through several grey Soom bodies trying to match one of my Lordstar Heliot heads. My grey Galena was no easier. And those two aren't anywhere close to the same shade as my Darkmaster vampire Heliot. My grey Meditation Euclase is a lot closer to the Lordstar than the Galena or the Darkmaster, but still isn't an exact match.

So, what I'm saying is that Liv got lucky. That luck may not hold for anyone else looking to match a different batch of Soom grey.

 

Soom is a dice roll as far as matching ANY colour. I have 3 grey Soom guys (Auber Storm Sprite, ID51 Gluino & Euclase) and they're all different greys. Oddly, my 2 ID51 London's (different releases) are the exact same of ebony. However, a friend has a tiny (I forget the sculpt name) and an Ender, both in tawny, and you'd swear they aren't the same colour at all. The tiny is a redish tan while the Ender is more caramel.

 

Well, my Winter Solstice gift was a tracking number for my Dia Into the Blue!
I am 100% certain that all of the wigs I currently have for this guy are too big because his previous shell was Mecha Angel, but can anyone tell me if Dia is better in wigs on the smaller side of 8-9in? My Onyx girls are too small for standard 8-9s and I had to have custom wigs made.

 

I have the Elf Dia and he does just fine in 8-9 wigs. Some 9-10 wigs probably work too. But I also use a Pitatto Ring from Volks to help keep the wigs on.

@St. James No problem! I feel like if you put something on their heads to help wigs stay on, any wig that is close to the size of their head will do!

 

Well, my Dia arrived in record time and I'm thrilled to have him finally! I now understand the complaining about the way the legs are strung, but I do love most of the body sculpt!

I am dying over Witch. She's my favorite female sculpt and that purple is amazing, but I need to remind myself to save money for their next little gem release. This hurts Q_Q

 

unless/until Soom either gets their girls above 62cm or starts selling heads separately, I'm not especially tempted by any new release. I'd have to think long and hard if they rereleased Vesuvia, but it looks like they shrunk the heads down to fit on the shorter slighter bodies, and if I can't even hybrid a glamazon I'll take a hard pass, personally.

 

I have the last Witch release (the one with the really long name) and I prefer her over this new one. The new one is really pretty - I kind of like her outfit but I am not sure if I want to spring for it (especially if I should decrease the amount of outfits I have). I might ask for a blank head picture - the face up is not to my liking so it makes it hard for me to tell if I like her or not.

 

It's nice to see them bring back the horns and staff, but I wish they would go back and release outfits the SOOM emporium

I don't think they ever said why they took her off sale the day after releasing her?

Curious about that - is there a confirmation/comparison anywhere that they've shrunk heads on purpose?

 

@sahoma That looks like the release I have - my girl is cream white. They did say they would put up blank head pictures. If she is the same, then I don't need her haha!
