I’m seriously thinking of getting him too, but I’ll likely wait a bit longer to order. Hopefully the outfit doesn’t sellout in the meantime.

 

How do you guys do layaway? Do you use credit card? Because what you can do, since there is a set date to pay off your credit card each month, couldn't you push the layaway to 5 months technically? Say you order January, and your set credit card payment is like the 7th of each month, you charge your card but don't have to pay till the 7th of Feb. Then you do the second payment after the set date so you could pay next month again. Idk if I explained that right but that is what I did >.> The only thing is there is a foreign transaction fee. sorry for long post

Yeah, I mean, I think people could charge a credit card, then pay it off whenever they want. But, I think people aren't trying to go down that rabbit hole if they don't have more immediate means to pay the payments off I guess.

 

I'm not sure if its really comparable. Fairylands last limited SD release (Ine), was 900$ as a fullset, including face-up and clothes and everything... and tan with FL is +80$, and the special oscar eyes are +20, makes 1000$. Seth with his fullset is nearly 1400$ (doll with face up, clothes, wig, eyes). Ine blank in tan was 710$, which is way, way less than a blank Seth.

Don't get me wrong, I really love idealians too! I just thing that nearly 1k for a blank doll is really a lot, and I don't get why he's more expensive than Narmer who was available in bronze too - but was 30$ less. Other companies at least mention why they're rising their prices (resin/silicone getting more expensive for example), but I'm a bit disappointed that Soom just assumes that everyone doesn't mind paying more for no apparent reason.
(Photon was the first Idealian released in bronze (in 2010) and he was 790$; then came Zak (759$) and Ebony (759$) both in 2014, and then Photon (807$) in 2016. I understand the rise in price for Narmer (902$ in 2016) since he was on the newer body, but why rising the price again?)

I mean, in the end, its their decision, and up to every customer if they're willing to pay that much money. I'm merely curious as to why they've increased the price.

 

@meanae Isn't the pricing mostly up to the exhange rate? Just go look at the Korea site: pick an early days ns/ws Idealian and then a newer one on the same body and see the price difference. I looked at Gluino and Grahame. Gluino was $690 and Grahame $750, but in won Gluino was about 850K and Grahame was 817K making the newer doll actually cheaper. Soom is just setting a base price and applying a more current exhange rate since they have so many currencies available. I also looked at two bronze skin Idealians like Zak and Seth and while there's a price difference even in won, it's not very big (55K won which is about $50), while in USD the difference is about $170.

So, their prices aren't really raising a lot; it's the exhange rate that's screwing us over. If they sold Gluino now for the same 850K won it would be a bit over $800, when years ago it was 'only' $690.

 

Thats a very good point! Didn't thought of the conversion rates - now I want to life in Korea, orz. Would make the hobby a bit more affordable...

 

I don't have a pic but I do have a Shoshon idealian in bronze and an Ebony idealian doll in bronze and my Shoshon bronze color seems more orangy than my Ebony one. So not sure how consistent their color are in different years and batches. As for the bronze being the same color of iplehouse light brown. No way. Not even close.

But I've also seen one where bronze ans tawny were basically the same, so ... :S

 

Sooms color is notoriously across the board. My tawny Sabik is really light and my new tawny Vesuvia is quite a bit darker than him. My Mom has an Albany and she was darker and orangey.

 

Ahhh, both Seth and Adonis look so nice. I do regret not getting Adonis. Maybe I'll be able to catch a re-release at some point.

 

For me choosing ID72 over ID75 is just preference.
The taller body is just as gorgeous and I know it poses better but I just like the shorter body better

@nancy_schroeder_ca that would be wonderful if they had a FCE for Idealian. I pestered (lol) them about it and they said they have no plans for one anytime soon BUT i do hope they chane their minds !!

Sorry, newb question. What does FCE stand for? Is it just a rerelease of certain basic dolls?

 

FCE = free choice event. Means you can pick a head and a body that were previously not sold, like... Pangen on the new ID75 body, for example. (pangen was only released on the ID72 body).

 

Full Choice Event.

I don't know why they call it that because there are limitations on the choices! You can't buy a doll in the same confiruration as the original release. So Pangen was originally on the ID72 body in Bronze so in the last FCE you could not buy Pangen in bronze on the ID72 body but you could get him in Bronze on the Megagem body.

 

@Twisty I got Seth, but passed on Adonis. I regret passing on Adonis, he looks gorgeous. Seth also looks really fine though, so I'm happy I got him. I didn't order a faceup for him, but I might end up adding one (A-Type, probably).

 

That’s what’s holding me back in ordering Seth, the face up. While I love the Egyptian look and I am getting his outfit and mask to go with it... if I dress him in regular clothing the normal face up A would look better. But a big part of me wants to go with B to really make him unique looking.

And keelerleah, yep, I was floating between the two face ups too! But, Seth is just going to have to stay in his Egyptian theme 'cause I love his whole Egyptian look, lol :3. You can't get that face up again; but his casual look looks like so many other casual SOOM looks it doesn't set him apart in all his glory!

How do you find out how many are left?

 

Add a large quantity to your cart, say 20. You'll get an insufficient quantity notice. Keep lowering the amount till it lets you add it to your cart .

There are now only 6!!

Edit: Well I finally did it! I got face-up B, the mask (with blushing) and the outfit. With shipping over $1500.... thank goodness for the layaway option. He's now by far my most expensive doll.
Now hopefully I can manage to sell some more stuff over the next few months. ^^;

Oh and there's now 5 outfits left!

I got these sneakers from BlueBlood and they fit wonderfully!!
I was excited to find them as the only thing I could find for our Idealian feet in sneakers was by Iplehouse.
Ebay $30, go get some hehe

I only have older Iplehouse real skin as I don't like it very much but I do like Soom's bronze!

@Tangmalangaloo I would find it wiser not to get into something you know you are not able to do. Don't order him if you can't afford him. Ordering to perhaps cancel in 2 days is not very practical. It would be best, if you waited until you had the money or the way to finance him.

As for Iplehouse Real skin. I like the old version as I do the new version.

to me the lightest of the bronze is still more peach/orangy color than the RS which in the old version seem more hue to an olive color, but the new one is more opaque and lighter.

I hope I can put this here, I never know with DOA.
