Soom Idealian 72cm Discussion Part 9

First of all...is that Ieren/Irene/Ierne or what? I’m so confused, even she is under different names through twitter and insta, on the previous website she was named as Irene in the promo pic then ieren on the list......on the promo pic of this release, her name is Ieren the galaxy, then Soom add in the hashtag Irene

i made some research about the body, because I’m still hesitating between buying her in whole or pass by head options. Her body didn’t seem to be updated already, so I used the measurements chart to compare with the others, only those bodies are higher than 65cm seem working. firstly, POPOdoll’s girl body is a good option (yep I love POPOdoll’s body, so poseable and nice mobility) height about 69cm with high heeled leg, shoulder width is larger with a smaller girth of chest. Secondly, Supia new double jointed body (65cm), larger hip and waist circumference. Both bodies have about the same neck girth (10cm) so would be nice fitting. I don’t know much about the resin match, any suggestions?

@Zhenwu my time to shine with my somewhat okay korean! Translation might be a little off but it basically says:

Similar to regular (male) ID, the female ID has faceplate, but instead of the brain part, has s-hook to attach the head.

Now rereading it, it actually says it's possible to attach the head to body using an s-hook so I think they were talking in terms of if you wanted to make a hybrid instead.

For fun here's a comparison to other SOOM heads. I call them my RBF crew lol

Beryl (1) and Vesuvia (3) are both bigger than Elloa (4) , she closest in size to Garnet (2).

 

Oh gosh it seems this is the place to be for Ieren.
From what I understand through observation through Sarqq/AdalWolf over the years, I believe Dollstown is also acceptable for hybrids, and going with that neck width also probably some Iplehouse bodies.
That being said, I'm so tempted to order one of each head. I wish I had an OC for that outfit cause it is gorgeous, but with my country getting stricter with the virus I probably won't have enough to afford it. I'll have to live vicariously through someone here. lol

 

I am here for the new girly. I may try to get her and get her on Iplehouse? Since it looks like she may be able to go on there. Hmmm...

@Arekushia - How do you like the mobility of the ID68 female body? I may go for the head if the body isn't that great. It doesn't look updated.

 

@sugarcactus You had the same idea as me! lol I think EID or HID would probably fit the best, but I'll be getting a SID body so if I do manage to budget in the head I can take some comparison pictures when she ships.

Also someone on instagram mentioned the head would make a good boy hybrid and I've gotta agree! I'm getting a bit excited for my paycheck now. lol

 

The Idealian female bodies do not have mobility thighs. They do have the two part torso. I like their looks, big and beautiful. There is a certain athletic grace. They can wear EID clothes, some SID depending on the material and cut. Some clothes for the boys too. SD 16 in shoes.

I make wigs so I have to say that looks are deceiving. Beryl has a smaller head than previously mentioned. And old Vesuvia is slightly bigger than new. Elloas head runs the same size as Ebony, Albany and Eden.

 

She is so lovely and I always wanted to get a female ID, but with this "C" virus going and my banks are closing cause heaven forbid being around other humans, I will have to let this one slide and admire from afar...…..

At least a friend ordered her. I'll get to live vicariously through her for now until I can have my own girlie. lol

Dang now I'm really tempted to get the head and EID body instead. I read that Iplehouse's normal skin is a pretty good match with Idealian normal skin. Is that true?

 

@RamenNoodle I've had a SOOM Super Gem hybrid with Iplehouse before and the resin match was nearly exact even with the different ages/batches. I don't know if the Idealian resin is any different but if it's close it should match.

That being said I just looked up measurements and apparently the neck is like 10cm for Idealian girls. lol Sueding miiiight be needed even with EID bodies.

 

I think the head looks like it would make a lovely boy also..but I have no idea what boy bodies a girl Idealian head would fit on. Has anyone done that?

 

@Ravenwolf Sarqq did ages ago when they had their Eden, and put it on a Dollstown body (if I recall correctly the character later got reshelled and is now their Harlequine sculpt hybrid). I think there's still pictures around on Deviant Art in the void of the internet. The neck's a few mm smaller than an HID/EID/SID body too, so I'd imagine both those companies would work with hybriding.

@RamenNoodle @Ravenwolf No problem! They might have some extra info as well if you can get a hold on them on Instagram too. I know they had a WS girl, but had NS boys at one point too. While I know Supergem NS and Iplehouse NS matches (between Soom's batch colors lolol) they might know if Idealian matches anything else as well.
I did some quick browsing and I think HID would fit the head with some light modding though, so it could be possible?

Iple HID: 11 cm
Iple EID: 10.5 cm
Iple SID: 10.5 cm
Iple nYID: 9.5cm

I remember it being mentioned that Idealian heads are somewhat smaller too? So less worry of the bobble head. xD But I am just a lurker that reads a lot and that might need some clarifying. aha

So according to this tweet Soom is now going to issue separate certificates of authenticity for heads and bodies. Like if you buy two heads and one body, you'll receive 3 certificates, one for each head and body. This applies to Idealians as well, which makes me wonder if Soom will eventually offer sale of heads from now on, starting with Ieren.

 

Because of the situation of covid19, according to Soom’s tweeter, they will release Gray skin River online for a few hours as Tokyo DP scheduled on the 29th will be cancelled.

Just saw their post on IG omg *-* I never expected to see them selling River again so soon :O

But.......he's in grey skin T________T I honestly don't do fantasy colors oh no ;_; I'm so conflicted rn... I could finally get my hands on River.... but I couldn't use him for the character I intended....

Should I just try to get him, figure him out later and see if I can ever get my hands on a regular skin tone one on top?? Or should I keep my money together for the one I undoubtly want?? Decisions ×__×

 

@Sasha of the Crows I’m also conflicted River is one of my holy grails from Soom but I really wanted him in normal or tan skin especially since he’ll be my first from that company (it’s more comfortable for me to style haha).

Honestly if you have the budget and feel you really can’t wait for another rerelease then go for it! It might be a really fun challenge to work with a fantasy skin tone (I’ve seen so many creative characters and bgs with grey skin tones here!)

 

I feel exactly the same!! He's my no. 1 grail and if he was in normal/tawny I would've stalked the sales page and clicked the order button the first second ;_;

I actually don't have the budget xD But I feel so guilty since he is my grail after all and I've messaged Soom so often >.< I swear that my heart will be breaking whenever I'll see someone posting their grey River in the coming months and I'm still waiting for that regular skintone re-release ×____×

It's somewhat comforting to know though that I'm not alone feeling like this ♡

 

As someone who has an original River...I'm so happy to see all this River Love!
It seemed like he was an underrated sculpt for so long. I'm happy he's getting much deserved attention.

 

I've been in love with him ever since I saw him for the first time ♡ Unfortunately I entered the hobby too late in order to grab his original release ;_; If I ever manage to purchase him, I can't even imagine how happy I'm going to be when he comes home •^-^• Congrats on owning him ♡

 

River will look great in gray resin I’m sure, those eyes, that nose and smile will be irresistible.

Congratulations to those who eventually bring him home. I’ll be interested in regular gray ball jointed hands if they release those with his debut. I’d like to get those for my elf zak. (When the warmer weather finally comes I’ll be able to give him a face-up but I can wait. I’m in no rush)

I’m Itching to get back to work hopefully soon.

 

Thanks! It's nice that Soom offers sculpts again. I always thought their sales period was a tad on the short side anyway, so it is nice to get a second chance....even with sculpts that might not have had a lot of orders when first offered. Here's hoping you will get to order him.

(*Hugs*) Thank you! I agree the Iplehouse heads look great on the Idealian body whether it's the 72 or 75 bodies. Akando and Luo were definitely my first favorites.

For those curious, I got the Liam Unforgettable limited outfit and wanted to show the group what it looks like on a different Idealian and in a non-company polished picture. My normal skin, 75cm Kay opted to model it even though the outfit and added items for this outfit style are for a different OC of mine. ( I apologize on the eyeless picture, he still needs a faceup but that will wait for warmer weather.)

@PowerAndWeakness - Ahhhh Akando and Luo....such Iple classics! They are still some of my very favorite sculpts too! And the outfit looks great on your Kay. The coat has great...malleability...or so it looks like it does.

The limited outfit of Void is hard to described...I can’t picture him with the word Emperor, the face up doesn’t quite fit him as well, but Void is still one of my favourite sculpts.

I’m glad that Soom re-released the galaxy outfit but I don’t have that chance to chase one and it’s already sold out again

Void in tawny is perfect and Soom released Void’s romantic head, I’m in.

 

I was so tempted by the outfit yesterday when I saw the teaser, but now I'm like "Hmmm" and "Yeah! safe pass!" at the same time.
But good that Soom releases him in tawny as I know a lot of people have been waiting for a tawny id for so long.

Btw I miss how Soom made fancy official promo photos in the past, like all the element graphs, background story and even the old-fashioned PhotoShop effect. It feels like, at least for Idealian line, they are taking way less effort on their promo pics nowadays, and makes me think that they're just promoting a doll, no character, no icon, really less fun...

 

I tried to log in when the galaxy outfit was rereleased but I couldn't log in at all so there must have been a lot of people logging in at the same time lol

Void looks like a nice sculpt when I saw him as Seth. Not sure about his faceup as the Emperor though

I ended up not getting Ieren as I had a lot of expenses last month so I just had to pass

 

Totally agree with @Zhenwu back to the time of monthly doll, each of them were having their own background story, their own fantasy parts and the faceup they had were really nice, unique and appropriate with the character they had. I’ve been super excited when they announced their re-releasing of Saiph (elf version) but when I saw the official pic I felt sad for her. I knew there’s a lot of people like her, waiting her to be re-released after that much long time (last time was about 2013?) but she is just too normal...normal and standard faceup, no background story (no even background picture!) she looks like a normal girl with elf ear trying to cosplay on an Halloween day (idea of @GreenTeaSlug )

I think back in the old days of enhancing the pictures with Photoshop, many people criticized the practice because they wanted to se what they would actually get.

 

Nancy.. that photo of your River is that a current photo or an old photo because my Hyperon’s body brushing has faded a lot. If it’s a current photo then that’s amazing how you can keep him so brand new!

as to Seth/Void ... he’s my grail doll but I don’t like his face up... it’s just too much and reminded me of the Egyptian theme.

I’m surprised at this current crisis we are in they are putting dolls up for sale! Looks like delivery time would be a lot longer due to border restrictions and flights cancelled.

for me I think it’s good thing to save up money and wait until the whole crisis ends than having a pounding heart that your parcel is lost in transit or quarantined until further notice.

 

@Tangmalangaloo That is an old picture. I'll try to take a new one but I don't think he's faded. He sleeps without clothes most of the time.

 

This has always conflicted me on Grails and major wants for limited dolls. I try so hard not to be picky so sometimes I can't be. However, for certain ones I won't mind. I've been tempted to just ignore my brain and buy anyways for dolls. Especially Soom. Since they rarely release the ones I want, I cave (Sullivan curse full set is a big giant grail and at this point I don't care if he's white, NS or gray even though I want gray- unfortunately their newer Sullivan's eyes aren't like Curse so as much as I love him, he's not going to take his place & I need a Michael Hyperon destiny symphony full set in NS or tawny but WS is completely ok too at this point).

They don't make it easy for us do they? Lol

Do we know if they plan to release again for River? I know this is their newest so I'm not sure when next release will be. I'd wait if you think he will come in your tone. If you don't know, it can't hurt to up to see him in person in the gray at least until the one you want comes out

I can absolutely relate to your words! I ultimately decided against the grey River - I'm sure he is extremely beautiful but I just need him in normal/twany too much >.< No matter how much I tried talking myself into it, a part of me always reminded me that - even if I got the grey one - I'd still need a natural skin color one on top of that, there just no way around it ×_× Sadly, an Idealian is already quite a stretch for my budget, so as much as I want it - I can't justify buying one just because >.> Also, I keep thinking "what if Soom announced a River re-release tommorrow and I just wasted all my funds on another one!?" :O

I'm still hoping a normal/tawny re-release will happen someday >.< I also keep spamming my WTB request for him and blasting how much I want another release (I hope nobody is mad at that, please forgive me - I'm just desperate lol ^^;;;; All I hope is, that someday~somebody will want to sell theirs and think of me xD)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your grails too!! The thing with Soom is - they're so unpredictable! You never know if your requests have a chance or are compeltely unrealistic x'D

I completely understand that. I have done it so many times for other things and kicked my own butt. Keep missing out thanks to buying another doll or other things. It's why my list of Grails keeps growing. But alas, is the life of a collector.

I work in a call centre and lately I’ve been asked to leave early. Definitely not a good timing and given the borders closure god knows when the dolls will arrive. I wonder if they take layaways?

 

@Sianserais I am in total agreement! I wish the fantasy skin colors that are made as "standard" (not limited to quantity) options for Gem, would be the same for Idealians. I would love some vivid fantasy color idealians without the crazy limited amounts. Idealians are really popular, their clothes alone sell within minutes of release!

@Khlovera will you be trying for any of them? That purple Zak is so pretty... I dont know if i should be thanking you for sharing that image because I dont want to be thinking of them XDDDD

 

I don’t think the purple is Zak. He looks like Garion (originally in red). But Garion looks much sweeter in purple.

edit*** oh I see! It’s a light purple colour. I almost thought it was white resin!

 

Gosh that blue Garion is too outstanding. He looks more "daily" than the red version but yet still unique and special. Garion literally can master any fantasy character. But knowing that it's only 5 sets for each makes me feel they're irrelevant to me LOL (tears).

Love the skintones but I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the violet skin toned one didn't look like Zak. Maybe its by of the faceup? I wonder if Dokkebijudan made the clothes for this limited edition.

Soom was originally going to sell them at a convention but since conventions are being canceled now, they are offering them online now. I'm glad they are since most of us can't attend to these conventions that Soom goes to
